LEGO One Piece Sets Sail Soon in Official Netflix Collaboration

One Piece has just made history as the first franchise originally based on an anime or manga series to get an official LEGO set. There’s a bit of a twist, though, as the new promised set(s) is actually tied to the live-action Netflix show instead of the source manga.

LEGO isn’t known for anime collaborations; in fact, in all its history, LEGO has not released a single official set based around an anime franchise, presumably due to distribution rights. Luckily, Netflix’s live-action One Piece series doesn’t seem to have this problem, making a collaboration finally a reality for LEGO fans.

One Piece Creator Eiichiro Oda Responds to New LEGO Collaboration

While a collaboration between LEGO and One Piece was far from expected, as two of the biggest franchises in the world, it certainly makes sense for the two to work together. The official preview trailer for the collaboration doesn’t provide much detail, but even just the brief look at Luffy’s signature straw hat and his stretchy arms brings a lot of confidence in the project. With so many great moments and scenes to choose from, LEGO‘s adaptation of the live-action One Piece show is largely expected to impress series fans worldwide.

One of the biggest fans of the announced collaboration is One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda himself. According to his response, Oda has been asking for LEGO One Piece sets for some time now, making the new reveal a dream come true for him, with many fans likely to share the same sentiment — and potentially opening up many more possibilities for future partnerships that have anime or manga source material. As of writing, there is no word on when the new LEGO One Piece set or sets will be released; however, the preview promises that the collaboration is “coming soon,” leading fans to believe they will see the release at some point within the next few weeks.

When Luffy finally comes of age, he sets sail from Foosha Village in East Blue and sets upon his grand adventure to become the next Pirate King.
