Limited-edition Progresso Soup Drops hard candy available on Thursday
If you missed last week’s buzz about a popular new soup product, you’ll have another shot at it. Last Thursday, General Mills introduced a take on its traditional Progresso Chicken Noodle Soup that you can pop in your mouth — literally.
Billed as “soup you can suck on,” the limited-edition Progresso Soup Drops are soup-flavored hard candy packed in a can.

When General Mills first offered its Progresso Soup Drops for ordering online last Thursday, the drops were gone within an hour, the company says, though it didn’t say how many cans of the drops were available or shipped.
On its Instagram page, Progresso posted:
“Well this is souper awkward … our Soup Drops sold out before we had the chance to tell you. But don’t worry, there’s a fresh batch of Soup You Can Suck On coming your way next Thursday, 1/23, at 9AM ET at ProgressoSoupDrops.com!”

Introduced in time for cold and flu season, General Mills says the soup drops also debuted in time for January’s designation of National Soup Month.
Progresso Soup Drops are flavored with its Progresso chicken noodle soup flavor, General Mills says, and meant to be convenient and remind you of a bowl of soup. According to a news release, in each drop there’ the flavor of broth, savory veggies, chicken, soft egg noodles, and a hint of parsley.
“When you’re sick, nothing is truly more reassuring than Chicken Noodle Soup. So, we thought, why stop at the soup bowl? We took the beloved flavors of our Progresso Chicken Noodle Soup and packed them into a fun, savory candy Soup Drop for a totally new way to enjoy the taste you love whenever and wherever you want,” said MC Comings, General Mills vice president, business unit director, in the release.
