Universal Orlando Resort is celebrating 30 years of Mardi Gras with six new floats and an energetic concert lineup.The annual Universal Mardi Gras: International Flavors of Carnaval runs from Feb. 1 to March 30 During the event, catch spectacular floats, including colorful new ones inspired by New Orleans Mardi Gras traditions like masks, beads, food, music and more. Universal Orlando brings the heartbeat of the Crescent City to the City Beautiful through partnerships with the iconic Kern Studios; a float building company for New Orleans parades that’s been around since 1932.”From the flowers on the Bayou float, to the feathers and masks on the masks and feathers float, to beads and doubloons. All inspired by, again, some of the largest krewes in New Orleans. Kern Studios is authentic to New Orleans Mardi Gras. We wanted, 30 years ago, to bring that authenticity to Universal Orlando and to Universal Studios,” said Lora Sauls the assistant director of creative development for Universal Orlando Resort.Guests can even ride on a float through the Ride and Dine experience.Part of the authenticity also comes with the food.
