Memphis Grizzlies center Zach Edey (concussion protocol) out vs OKC Thunder

Memphis Grizzlies center Zach Edey has been downgraded to out for Sunday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The team announced on Sunday that Edey is in the concussion protocol.

Edey has been one of the NBA’s best rookies this season. He’s averaged 11.3 points and eight rebounds in 19 games this season. This is the second injury Edey has dealt with in the regular season. He missed 13 games earlier this season due to an ankle injury.

Losing Edey shortens the Grizzlies’ frontcourt depth. Memphis is already without forward Santi Aldama.

Jay Huff, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Brandon Clarke will play most of the minutes at power forward and center.

The Grizzlies are also without Ja Morant (shoulder), Marcus Smart (right index finger), Vince Williams Jr. (ankle) and GG Jackson (foot).
