In October, Coldplay was the first major concert to be announced for Madison’s Camp Randall Stadium in nearly 30 years.
But it’s Morgan Wallen who actually will headline the first concert at the University of Wisconsin-Madison football stadium since 1997.
On Friday, the country superstar announced his “I’m the Problem 2025 Tour,” which will bring him to Camp Randall June 28, with Miranda Lambert and Ella Langley opening.
The tour is named for his forthcoming fourth album, “I’m the Problem,” which Wallen also announced Friday. A release date has not been revealed, but the title track was released Friday.
A spokesman for the concert’s Madison-based promoter FPC Live confirmed the Camp Randall show following a teaser announcement about the concert reveal Thursday night.

The Madison stadium concert will be opposite another major music event in Wisconsin — the second Saturday of Summerfest in Milwaukee, led by Megan Thee Stallion at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater.
Wallen — whose career was hindered temporarily in 2021 after he was caught on camera saying a racial slur, for which he apologized — has continued his ascent to become one of music’s most bankable stars.
In 2023, he was the first artist to headline a Wisconsin stadium for two consecutive nights at American Family Field, the kickoff for one of that year’s top-grossing North American tours.
In 2024, he had two of the top 10 albums on the yearend Billboard 200 chart — “One Thing at a Time” and “Dangerous: The Double Album” — even though they came out in 2023 and 2021, respectively. He also was on the fourth-biggest song on the yearend Billboard Hot 100 chart, “I Had Some Help” with Post Malone, and won entertainer of the year honors at the Country Music Association Awards.
And now Wallen will play one of the largest venues in Wisconsin, with a capacity of just over 80,000 for Wisconsin Badgers football games.
Camp Randall returns to hosting concerts after long hiatus
Despite its size and stature, Camp Randall has rarely hosted concerts. A handful of A-list acts — the Rolling Stones, U2, Pink Floyd and Genesis — played shows there from 1988 to 1997. There haven’t been any Camp Randall concerts since.
But last summer, alcohol sales were approved for events in the stadium’s general seating areas. Alcohol sales were prohibited at previous Camp Randall concerts, a UW Athletics spokesman confirmed.
“For these major stadium shows, to a certain extent, (alcohol sales) is a prerequisite. … And for the overall fan experience, it’s a nice amenity to have,” Jason King, senior associate athletic director for capital projects and operations with University of Wisconsin Athletics, told the Journal Sentinel in October. “When it started to become clear we would be able to sell (alcohol) in Camp Randall, that frankly probably opened some doors for us.”
In October, Coldplay announced a July 19 Camp Randall concert, part of the band’s blockbuster “Music of the Spheres World Tour.” (Both the Madison concert and the tour quickly sold out.) The concert will be the band’s first Wisconsin show since 2009, and its first show ever in Madison.

Fans can sign up for presale access for Wallen’s June 28 concert at Camp Randall, and any of the 19 stadium shows in 10 North American cities announced Friday, through his website, morganwallen.com, through Jan. 28. Tickets will then go on sale to the general public beginning at 10 a.m. Jan. 31 at uwbadgers.com. Prices have yet to be announced.
