New Orleans group organizes another gun takeback event in time for New Year to decrease violence

A growing initiative here in New Orleans. We are talking about the Reboot Gun trade-in. It takes place this New Year’s Eve at Household of Faith from noon to 2 p.m.Just some days ago NOLA Grown partnered with another local church. They gave out free gaming systems like Playstations and consoles to those who traded in their guns. So far organizers said they have taken about 60 guns off the streets. It’s why they wanted to host another event like this one. The hope is to start the new year off safer, while also encouraging the youth to consider gaming as a career option. Organizers said this is in reaction to recent open carry laws in our state.

In an effort to combat gun violence and promote community safety, a New Orleans group has organized another gun takeback event just in time for the New Year. The event, which will be held on December 30th, encourages residents to turn in their firearms in exchange for gift cards or other incentives.
