New Public Health Alert Issued for Wegmans Frozen Chicken Nuggets
If you’re a fan of chicken nuggets, you may want to check your freezer. Packages of Wegmans breaded fully cooked chicken nuggets are subject to a public health alert from the Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, due to potential contamination with bone fragments. (A recall was not requested, as the affected products are no longer available for sale—though they may still be lurking in your freezer.)
The impacted products are 46-ounce bags of Wegmans Family Pack Fully Cooked Breaded Chicken Breast With Rib Meat, with a best if used by date of 08 26 25 (you’ll find that near the barcode on the lower right corner of the packaging back). You’ll also want to verify that the establishment number is “P-33944” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
The products were sold at Wegmans Food Markets in Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
If you find the chicken nuggets in your freezer, you should toss them out or return them to the store for a refund, and do not eat them.
Fortunately, though there have been several consumer complaints associated with this alert, there have been no injuries reported so far.
If you have any questions or concerns about the product, you can call Wegmans Food Markets at 1-855-934-3663 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET or Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, or get in touch with the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-MPHotline (888-674-6854) or send a question via email to MPHotline@usda.gov.

Consumers are advised to check the packaging for the following information:
– Product: Wegmans Frozen Chicken Nuggets
