Almost perfect for the price, depending on what you're looking for
(Note: this is my first personally-bought projector, and I have not compared this one to any others currently on the market.)First impressions and rough thoughts:It is easy to get up and go right out of the box. The quickstart instructions are clear and set the right expectations for what the projector can and can't do. The menu system is snappy and responsive, which makes using the device a breeze and finding settings and getting where I want to go easy.Wifi connected without a hitch and ran an update out of the box. It was a fairly quick update, and the version number wasn't much higher so I'm confident the system update must have come out recently. So, if you jump into this out of the box and don't update, you'll probably not miss significant updates (as of writing).I'd recommend scoping out the perfect spot for this before you get it so you have your mounted surface all set beforehand. What I would do, is put a flashlight on the table or surface you plan to put the projector on and lay it level shining at the wall. That is probably where the image will be centered. If it's too low, you will have some ability to tilt the projector up, but at best I was able to get the bottom of the projection at the same level height as the projector stand, which isn't bad, but it's bound by optics physics and can't perform miracles.Onboard speakers are as good as you can reasonably expect them to be. They actually had more range than I expected from them. Depending on the volume of the source, they can actually throw some loud audio, like for games. Movies and TV with multichannel audio where voices are pushed through the center speaker can be a bit weak, but there is a "Sound Surround" Sound mode on HDMI inputs that seem to specifically process multichannel audio to output louder and generally better through the onboard speakers. I would recommend selecting this option by default if you are only using the onboard speaker.There are tons of video options for general picture and video modes, to digital noise reductions, HDR mode, picture stretching, white balance correction, multilevel color tuner, adaptive mode and more.I tested this projector with content from a usb flash drive, an Xbox Series X, and retro handheld device. Each scaled perfectly and ran buttery smooth with perfect visuals. When I switched to video games, I switched to Game mode in the picture settings and had barely any perceivable delay, which I could probably put towards the wireless controllers I was using.—————————————————-Some features:Auto Keystone and manual keystone adjustments: The image shape will try to automatically compensate for being projected at different angles. It does warn you when you enable this feature that it will increase HDMI delay, which is a great thing to know for anyone gaming on this. The same hdmi delay is warned for manual adjustments too. So, if you're planning to game on this, plan accordingly and find the perfect spot so you don't have to make any keystone screen geometry adjustments. If you're not sure about what this is, you can check out more on Google or YouTube.A menu selectable copy of the projectors manual is on there, which is convenient if you don't keep paper manuals.Reading files: In the manual it outlines the specific video and audio filetypes the projector can open from an inerted usb hard drive or flash drive, but it also advertises opening specific office files that it supports, including ppy, xlsx, doc and pdf formats.Opening an office document opens an app called "OfficeSuite" and the first time you run it, the app will ask for permission to access files, just like a newly installed android app normally does. There were several fonts missing from the system, including Tahoma, Arial, Calibri, and it invites you to get the "Extended font pack", which it couldn't get because it was trying to access the Google play store to download, which is not on here. In the app settings, you can point it to an external fonts folder which is nice if you are going to be using this projector as a purpose-built PowerPoint machine and not wanting to rely on a laptop. That being said, when you launch a file, it also bugs you to update the app, which it can't do since, again, no app store to perform the update through. ALSO, If it doesn't like a file or you may be using a newer document standard like docx, it will say the file is corrupt.All in all, having office file support is a good bonus, but I would not solely rely on it until Nexigo can add in the Google play store to allow you to update the OfficeSuite App, or get the apps to update another way (through built in device updates). I wouldn't think it's likely since this seems to be a very user friendly oriented device with minimal customizations, but in theory I think it would allow the projector to have more value and give the customer more options for media consumption of all kinds.Pictures: picture files that are described as being supported open up quickly, and you can use the left and right button on the remote to swiftly change to the next picture in the folder. This may actually be a great slideshow or PowerPoint alternative if all you're dealing with is static images and video files.Wireless connectivity:Apple airplay uses CoolAirMirror android app to operate. It asks for file and location permissions to operate.Dlna file access uses CoolDlna android app. It asks for file access, location permissions and to record audio.Bluetooth and audio: You can pair a Bluetooth speaker to it or connect a soundbar to the HDMI 1 port. You can also use the projector and its audio output as a Bluetooth speaker for another device——————————————Conclusion:I have used this projector extensively since I purchased it, pushing every feature I could and tuning every video and audio setting I could. I have been utterly delighted by this projector in the short time I've had it, and it has helped me reclaim my love for film in ways I didn't expect. I remember having a projector as a kid when a tube TV was the best thing you could watch a movie on, and a movie just popped out of the screen on a brightly lit projector. This Nexigo projector brought me back to the days where movies were magical because of the very filmic feel of the image in a dark room. Granted, I only used it on a white wall, I ran new 4k movies, old black and white movies, filmstock scans, even retro and new video games on it. But each movie or game I launched was vividly brought to life in front of me like even a good OLED might not be able to do.While nearly perfect for the price tag, If I were to look at all of the features provided out of the box, I would have to remove one star from the built-in file viewing features that end up giving you more hurdles than reliable solutions based on being out of the box neutered android apps, as well as the built in video player for being adequate but not amazing in picture quality. If Nexigo can update the device with ways to overcome these shortcomings with either fully-unlocked file viewing apps that don't get in your way, the ability to download a different android video player (or supply your own codecs), or even a wishlist item of adding the google play store to use your own apps for each function (Full Office 365 and/or VLC?) I'd have no choice but to give it 5-stars. If you want a high quality, fast and customizable projector at a decent price and you're not needing to rely on any built-in apps or functions, this would be a 5-star experience out of the box for you.

    I love it when things work right out of the box – and this projector does exactly that. I was up and watching my projector in under 5 minutes. Just plugged in the power cord, plugged in my fire stick to one of the hdmi ports on the back, and then focused the image with the focus ring. It was a straightforward, no-nonsense experience with no technical issues. And the focus ring and legs made for quick adjustment (note, the legs are meant for leveling, not for orienting your projector more than a about 10 degrees up or down).

    The picture quality actually exceeded my expectations. There was no blurriness or any warping that I found distracting or detracted from the experience of having a large, vibrant projection in front of me. Colors were rich and vibrant despite me having very thin curtains that let in plenty of light (see the video I attached). A lot of projectors are unwatchable unless the room is extremely dark. I was surprised to find this projector was watchable during the day indoors – sure, the image was somewhat faded with so much light but this was still a very impressive performance.

    Note, I was not using any special surface – just beamed it right at my wall. This means I could see the wall's texture if I scrutinized the image, but this would be the case with any projector in the world.

    At night or in a dark room the vibrancy of the image is truly terrific in my opinion. So this would work great indoors or for an outdoors movie night against the garage door or a wall.

A projector stand would be a wise investment if you don't have a place for your projector. There are more silent projectors on the market but they cost a lot more. You are paying for a large, vibrant projection that doesn't break the bank – and with that in mind, I think most people will find the projector provides a very cool and impressive experiencce.

    We bought before friends came into town, and the setup was quick, easy, and seamless. I appreciated being able to cast movies from my iPhone directly to the projector, and loved that there is both built-in sound as well as a blue tooth option to use a portable blue tooth speaker for higher volume. Direction were easy to follow, and made setup painless. The picture quality was exceptional, and really enjoyed using it to setup a little in-home theatre for our daughter to watch her favorite shows. Looking to do a drive-in-movie night in the back yard soon, and think this will do the trick based on experience with quality and performance so far!

    I was going to wait a few days to test this and give my thoughts but I've pretty much made up my mind. This projector is a great option for those looking for an easy way to add a large, clear screen to a room without taking up any/much space. You'll be able to see things clearly whether the light is on or off.

    I was most worried about gaming because lag can be an issue with projectors. However, I hooked up my PS5 and played two games that require quick reactions: NHL and EA FC (FIFA) 24. They looked good and crisp. There was maybe a very infrequent stutter but barely noticable. I might be able to fix that by turning the fan up or something.

    The audio is solid, not fantastic. I'd say it pretty much matches what you'd get out of a mid-range TV these days. It even has a surround sound mode. You won't have any issues hearing things but if you're an audiophile, you'll want to keep your soundbar on deck.

    I was holding off on buying accessories but I went ahead and bought a screen and wall mount because this is definitely staying with me.

    Note that the pics I first uploaded are on an old wall that has discoloration and holes from nails. Once I have the screen, I expect the picture to get even clearer. I'm getting this room setup but this is giving me incentive to speed the process up. Look, it won't replace a top-end 4K UHD TV if you have an eye for those details but the vast majority of people will be very happy with the quality, especially on a budget.

    It could use a longer power cord but that's me nitpicking. Oh, a couple more nitpicks – the screen casting leaves much to be desired but just get a Firestick, Roku or Chromecast dongle and you'll be fine because those allow easy casting.

    I'm looking forward to watching multiple games at once without having to squint because I can now make the overall screen much larger.

    Awesome Entry Level Projector

    After a disappointing experience with the WiMiUS P64 due to a defective remote and lackluster performance, I decided to try the NexiGo PJ40 3rd Gen based on a recommendation from The Hook Up YouTube channel. I’m glad I did, it completely transformed my expectations for budget projectors.

    The image quality is significantly better. The PJ40 has a much brighter and sharper picture, with more vibrant colours. Both projectors have loud fans, the PJ40’s fan has a less irritating sound. The PJ40 supports a 4K signal at 60Hz (as opposed to the 30Hz limit on the WiMiUS), which makes HDR signals available and is supported as well. Also makes viewing fast-moving sports much smoother (you can actually see the ball :).

    The PJ40 also supports CEC, so my Chromecast remote can power on the projector and control. To my surprise, the PJ40's remote even controls both my Chromecast and Fire TV Stick.

    Overall, the NexiGo PJ40 is a much more refined and feature-packed option for a similar price range, and it outperforms the WiMiUS P64 in almost every aspect. I would note that the sound on the WiMiUS was better but I'm using an AV receiver so it does not matter. I highly recommend it if you're looking for an affordable high-quality projector!

    After a lot of research bought this one! And i must say I am happy!

    Pros –
    1. Bright and crystal sharp. I am projecting to a wall and still gives good resolution and sharp image. Feels like watching a movie in theatre.

    2. In 10 days i got a clean the fan filter message, and when i took the filter out, there indeed was some dust. So it has some good self maintenance monitoring built in. Liked that!

    3. For me airdrop connectivity was essential, and this one has a dedicated airdrop connectivity. Very stable. You don’t get disconnected in between.

    4. Most importantly, the fan noise is almost ignorable! There is also an option to reduce the fan noise by letting go a bit of brightness. I have kept the fan noise at 50%, yet I am able to see the image conveniently during moderately lit times and even with 50% brightness, it’s super bright at night. So no compliants!

    Cons
    1. Speakers — aargh!! Why why why? Why so bad? It’s like the teeny laptop speakers u had back in 2000’s (remember?). Given the considerable big size of the projector, i thought the speakers are gonna be good. But yea, my bad! I had to buy a sound bar to make the audio audible!

    2. There is no smart tv in this. Its just a projector with hdmi input. It works for me coz i use my google chromecast and it works well. The remote control out of the box starts working with google chromecast. So you dont need to use two remotes. On the flip side, if u want to use chromecast remote (the cute white one) to control the projector (power on/off) it dosent work! Also noticed that after some time, there is a sluggishness in the remote operation. I have to restart the projector to get back the smooth remote operation.

    3. The auto keystone just doesn’t work. Manual works though. Had to spend some time to get the image straight.

    4. The lens cover is detachable. If it had a way of being attached, it wud have been easier to put it back when not in use. Now that its detachable, it goes and sits in my drawer and i never use it. It’s a tiny UX thing though!

    Overall 4/5! And mostly for the brightness and picture clarity!

    Curtains open and ceiling lights on I can watch this thing and see everything in the daytime.

    Want a quiet fan noise at night when watching movies? You can turn the fan noise down in return for losing some luminance, actually not that much luminance sacrificed though.

    Was told it'll only read 1TB hard drive but reads my 2TB external hard drive full with all my shows and movies (must format your drive as "fat32", not exfat or ntfc. I used aomei partition software to do this)

    The on screen brightness, saturation, hue, colour temperature, contrast and sharpness are really useful to adjust to taste.

    Adjust the bass and treble of the built in speaker, actually pretty decentb and goes pretty loud, I just use the aux cable for big speakers during movie nights.

    The built in USB sockets actually give decent power too, so you can power an Amazon fire stick right from the projector, no wall plug needed.

    The focus wheel is nice and accurate and focus is great.

    Buttons on the remote have a nice feel to them, small but nice detail.

    The company actually is good to communicate with, replied quick to my email about what size mounting screws it uses (M5).
