Nicki Minaj is being sued by her alleged former manager for assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress, TMZ reports.
According to a lawsuit obtained by the outlet Friday, a man named Brandon Garrett claimed the “Starships” hitmaker berated and physically assaulted him backstage at a Detroit concert at Little Caesars Arena in April 2024 after she discovered he asked someone else to pick up her prescriptions.
According to Garrett, Minaj screamed at him, saying, “Are you f–king crazy having him pick up my prescription? You have lost your f–king mind and if my husband were here, he would knock out your f–king teeth.”
“You’re a dead man walking,” she allegedly went on. “You just f–ked up your whole life and you will never be anyone, I’ll make sure of it.”
Minaj struck him “on the right side of his face with an open hand” after declaring that his “life was over,” the lawsuit obtained by TMZ said.
Garrett claimed she hit him so hard that his hat flew to the ground.
Furthermore, the singer’s alleged former employee claimed she hit him on the wrist — knocking documents out of his hands — as her team closed in on him.
He further alleged that he left the room after Minaj, 42, yelled at him to “get the f–k out.” After that, he said he hid in a bathroom stall for hours over concerns for his safety.
Garrett claimed Minaj’s team denied him access to the tour bus, which left him to fend for himself in Detroit. It’s unclear if he was able to obtain his belongings.
He is allegedly suing Minaj for damages as well. TMZ did not specify the amount.
Page Six reached out to Minaj’s rep but has not yet received a response. Her lawyer Judd Burstein, however told TMZ, “At this time, no complaint has been served upon Mrs. Petty, and therefore, we are unaware of the specific allegations. However, if the lawsuit is as reported by TMZ, it is completely false and frivolous. We are confident that the matter brought by this ex assistant will be resolved swiftly in Mrs. Petty’s favor.”
TMZ did not specify at which concert the alleged incident occurred, but the 12-time Grammy winner brought her “Pink Friday 2” World Tour to Detroit on April 20 last year.
The above-mentioned lawsuit isn’t the only drama that stemmed from Minaj’s tour.
She was arrested in Amsterdam in May for “carrying drugs,” which she swiftly denied. She was eventually fined and then released from police custody.
Later in May, she went on an X rampage and threatened to fire her tour DJ for signing a fan’s breasts.
Nicki Minaj, the Grammy-nominated rapper and singer, is facing a lawsuit for battery and assault by her alleged former manager. The lawsuit claims that Minaj physically attacked her former manager during a heated argument, resulting in injuries.
The alleged incident reportedly took place during a business dispute between Minaj and her former manager, where things escalated to a physical altercation. The former manager’s lawyer stated, “My client was unjustly attacked by Nicki Minaj and suffered significant injuries as a result. We are seeking justice for her and holding Minaj accountable for her actions.”
Minaj has not yet publicly commented on the lawsuit, but this is not the first time she has faced legal troubles. In the past, she has been involved in various legal battles, including copyright infringement claims and disputes with former collaborators.
Fans of Minaj are eagerly awaiting her response to the lawsuit and how she plans to address the allegations. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
