One person dead, another sent to the hospital after house fire in Deering


One person is dead, and another was sent to the hospital after a house fire broke out in Deering Saturday night.The state fire marshal’s office said that around 9:20 p.m., Deering Fire and Rescue responded to Hart Farm Road for a report of a house fire with multiple people trapped.When crews arrived, they found heavy fire coming from the house. Crews from a dozen surrounding towns also responded to assist.Fire officials said a New Hampshire State Police K-9 located one person inside the home, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials said the man was helped out of the home by a neighbor and was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The man was later sent to a hospital in Boston.Officials said the fire was under control several hours later, at around 11:45 p.m.News 9 spoke with one neighbor who said the situation is awful, but she’s thankful for the crews who worked to put out the fire.”We see what happened in California and stuff like that, swift response from firefighters can make the difference. I mean, it was just the one house, thankfully, and there’s a lot of snow on the ground, so I’m sure that helped. But, you know, our firefighters are true heroes in times like these,” Heather said.Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
