Pacers forward Obi Toppin, fiancée celebrate Paris engagement
Toppin proposed to his girlfriend, Magdalena Bellinger, in the French capital Tuesday, and she said yes!
INDIANAPOLIS — While the Indiana Pacers are in Paris to play a pair of games against the San Antonio Spurs, one member of the team is already having a memorable trip.
Forward Obi Toppin proposed to his girlfriend, Magdalena Bellinger, in the French capital Tuesday, Jan. 21, and she said yes!
The couple shared the news on Instagram, with a series of photos from the big moment, with the message, “Forever with you.”
“(T)he perfect Paris proposal,” the Pacers posted in an announcement of their own on social media, “congratulations to Obi Toppin and his fiancée Mag on their engagement!”
All-Star Tyrese Haliburton told NBA Europe the proposal was the best part of the Paris trip so far.
“Well Obi got engaged, so that was pretty cool. Puts some pressure on me now, though, so that’s awesome,” Haliburton said. “But that was cool to see.”
Toppin, 26, is averaging 10 points and four rebounds per game in his second season with Indiana. Last year, he was the only Pacers player to play in all 82 regular season games, averaging 10.3 points and 3.9 rebounds.
He was also one of just three players in the NBA to have 100 dunks and make 100 3-pointers in the 2023-24 season, joining San Antonio star Victor Wembanyama and Oklahoma City’s Chet Holmgren in accomplishing that feat.
The Pacers and Spurs play their first of two games in Paris on Thursday, Jan. 23. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET. The same teams will matchup again on Saturday, Jan. 25 for a game that starts at noon ET.
