Sturdy
I haven't run any performance tests, so I can't comment on that aspect as yet. No connectivity issues or problems reading and writing from drives. As far as construction and functionality, this is a solid hub. It has 7 USB 3.0 ports and 4 charging ports. All of the USB and 3 of the charging ports are switched, with an always-on charging port on the end. The switch/buttons have a 2-second hold to turn off, which I think is smart. It might be nice if there was a master switch for all of the ports, but it's not a deal breaker. The cables are beefy and the supplied power brick has a detached AC cable which is a lot more convenient than the "wall wart" type. The body of the unit appears to be metal with a high-gloss coating. My only complaint is that the rubber feet on the bottom are so thin that they don't contact with anything, thus the unit can slide around. You can see in the photos how thin they are that they aren't functional as feet. Either put thicker feet on the bottom or have a rubberized body, which I think would look better than the high-gloss coating, which shows smudges and fingerprints easily. The price is pretty competitive with similar offerings on Amazon.

    After having issues with the charger, I reached out to the company. They were AMAZING with their communication and desire to make things right. Within a week, I had a replacement. It works great and I am extremely pleased with my purchase. EXCELLENT customer service from the company.

    I purchased this charger for the robotics club at my school. The first time I plugged it in, everything looked just fine. I put in the first USB cord and got a puff of smoke, the whole thing turned off, then came back on. That one port no longer works. The other 9 work OK, but I purchased this because it has 10 ports.

    I have a couple of external drives that I use for weekly incremental backups only. (I alternate them every week.) Each backup typically takes no more than 5 minutes. Having the drives constantly plugged in to my PC and *powered* would reduce their life span. Plugging and unplugging them each time I need to use them is a royal pain as my PC tower is under my desk. This USB hub is the perfect solution. I now control most of my USB peripherals with it: speakers, microphone and video conference light. I find the 4 charging ports very handy too. The 3 'smart charging ports' sometimes are not that 'smart' charging my Pixel phone. Once I switched to the always-on charging port, my Pixel has been happy for the last 2 months. I use the 3 'smart charging ports' to charge my two fitness bands and headsets with no problem whatsoever.

    I had read alarming reports by other users about the hub 'burning' or 'smoking'. So I have been watching it like a hawk. I am glad to report that I have seen no sign of those in the last two months. Your mileage, of course, may vary.

    The bane of any PC power user is needing more than two or three USB ports that come on notebook computers, and the horrors of horrors, is not having enough power to run all the contraptions I have connected to the PC or hub. The blessing has been powered hubs that have plenty of power to run external devices, charge batteries, and at the same time keep constant the power going to each port.

    I did a lot of research to find the right powered USB hub to act as a trusted sidekick to my current PC setup. I needed power to charge devices such as cell phones. I needed level power to operate my external 2.5 external hard drive (and I did not want some cheap Chinese crap that might fry my hard disk), I needed LOTS of PORTS and LOTS of POWER.

    Above all else, I needed the power monitored, steady, and correct because I'm super concerned about cheap electronics frying the memory sticks and hard discs connected to this powered hub. With this hub I feel safe and my data is secure, and not in danger of being corrupted.

    As a bonus this hub comes with four "smart charging" ports. I use those ports to charge my cell phones. IMO the ports and this hub function the same as my flagship Samsung phone's fast chargers. I'm very pleased with the performance of the hub in this regard.

    Yes, this costs a bit more than that fake Chinese crap that you can buy for $10. But that old saying applies to this device: "You get what you pay for."
