PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Marquette men’s basketball team closes out 2024 at the Amica Mutual Pavilion against Providence (7-6, 1-1 Big East) on Tuesday night.
The eighth-ranked Golden Eagles (11-2, 2-0) haven’t played since a victory on Dec. 21 at Xavier in Cincinnati.

Marquette-Providence prediction
MU hasn’t won in Providence since Markus Howard was on the team, and head coach Shaka Smart is 0-3 at Amica Mutual Pavilion. The Golden Eagles will have a little rust to knock off after a 10-day break, but that should also help with their minor bumps and bruises.
Prediction: Marquette 77, Providence 68

Probable starters, TV, odds and a prediction for tonight’s game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets
Probable starters:
Los Angeles Lakers: LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Dennis Schroder, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Marc Gasol
Brooklyn Nets: Kyrie Irving, James Harden, Joe Harris, Kevin Durant, DeAndre Jordan
TV: ESPN
Odds: Brooklyn Nets -2.5
Prediction: This game is shaping up to be a battle of the superstars, with LeBron James and Anthony Davis going up against Kyrie Irving, James Harden, and Kevin Durant. Both teams have been playing well recently, but the Nets have been on fire since acquiring Harden. I predict a close game, but ultimately the Nets will come out on top with their high-powered offense proving too much for the Lakers to handle. Final score: Nets 115, Lakers 110.
