The Bruins’ next opponent will be without their star goalie.
The New York Rangers placed Igor Shesterkin on injured reserve with an upper-body injury, The New York Post’s Mollie Walker reported on Tuesday. The Rangers called up goalie Louis Domingue from the Hartford Wolf Pack.
It’s unclear what the extent of Shesterkin’s injury is or when it occurred.
The Rangers host the Bruins on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden.
It’s been a tough season for the Rangers, who fell to 16-9-1 after Monday’s loss to the Florida Panthers. Shesterkin’s season has been forgettable thus far, though much of it can be attributed to New York’s poor play. The goalie is 1-5-0 over his last six starts with a 3.97 GAA and an .883 save percentage, and has just 11 wins in 27 starts.
Shesterkin will miss at least seven days and a minimum of four games due to being on IR, per NHL rules.
