Real Madrid veteran intends to desire his contract amid interest from Saudi Arabia

Real Madrid defender David Alaba will make his comeback to the pitch after more than a year, having finally fully recovered from his ACL injury.

The Austrian international finally made his return to the squad list for today’s match against UD Las Palmas after 13 months out of action.

Alaba’s return comes as a timely boost for Los Blancos, considering that they are without Eder Militao, who is out with an ACL injury, while they also recently lost Eduardo Camavinga to an injury, which means Aurelien Tchouameni’s services will be needed in midfield.

Alaba desires a new contract extension at Real Madrid

Alaba’s contract with Real Madrid expires in 2026, meaning he will be entering the final year of his current deal in the summer.

Now, according to The Athletic, the 32-year-old centre-back desires to renew his contract with the Spanish capital club despite attracting plenty of interest from teams in Saudi Arabia.

Alaba, who is regarded highly by the Real Madrid coaching staff, and is determined to succeed at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Even though there were concerns about the level he would show upon returning after more than a year out, those within the club are optimistic about the situation.

And, the fact that Alaba is the only left-footed centre-back in the squad makes him stand out as well, along with his vast experience and leadership.

As such, it will not come as a surprise if Real Madrid opt to hand the 32-year-old a new contract in the coming months, with the player himself keen on signing an extension and continuing his adventure at the Bernabeu.

For now, though, the focus will be on Alaba’s on-field return, which could happen later today when they take on Las Palmas, and see how he fares after over a year out.
