Robert Hubble was charged with malicious use of a telecommunication device

CLARE CO., Mich. (WNEM) – A Lake George man has been charged after he allegedly made threats against the Clare VA Clinic, according to the Clare County Sheriff’s Office.

On Jan. 17 just after 10 a.m., Clare County Central Dispatch received a call from the Veterans Crisis Hotline to report a man contacted them and made threatening statements toward the Clare VA Clinic.

Sheriff’s office deputies were told about the threats and identified the caller as 70-year-old Robert Hubble from Lake George, the sheriff’s office said.

It was reported Hubble had made several phone calls to the crisis line, the sheriff’s office said, adding during one of the calls, he threatened to go to the clinic and “shoot up the place” if the clinic didn’t see him on the day he wanted to be seen. The VA clinic went into lockdown while the threats were investigated.

Hubble was arrested and lodged at the Clare County Jail.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation included obtaining a search warrant for Hubble’s house, which resulted in a seizure of several firearms.

Hubble was arraigned and charged with malicious use of a telecommunication device. His bond was set at $100,000 with 10% accepted. He posted bond on Jan. 18.
