KCRA 3’s Michelle Dapper made the trip to Los Angeles on Saturday to catch up with the players before a pivotal game vs. the Lakers. The team gave their thoughts on the release of Brown, who helped end a 16-year playoff drought in Sacramento during the 2022-23 season. “We all know the job that we have , you can be traded at any time, released, cut fired or whatever it may be,” said De’Aaron Fox. “I wouldn’t use the word guilt. Obviously with him signing his extension this summer we thought we’d be together a lot longer but that’s the decision that they made. At the end of the day he’s still getting paid, that’s the great part of .” Domantas Sabonis said he was asleep when the news broke about Brown being fired. “He put me in a position to succeed and gave me a lot of confidence. He has helped me in my career,” Sabonis said. “It’s just part of the business, things happen that way.” Malik Monk expressed his gratitude for Brown, the unanimous Coach of the Year in 2023. “The energy he brought, the passion he had for the game…that’s what I took most out of him,” Monk said. “He never took anything for granted.
