Savannah Guthrie has joked that her Today show co-host, Hoda Kotb, left behind a “disgusting” mess when she stepped away from the NBC broadcast last week.
The 53-year-old TV personality from Sandringham, Australia, appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with her new co-host, 45-year-old Craig Melvin.
During the show, she talked about a video she made while cleaning the workspace left by Kotb, who left the show last week after 17 years.
Guthrie, who has co-hosted the Today show for more than 12 years, remembered the mess left in the former host’s work area after she left the New York City office.
The journalist shared, “It’s a new era, it’s the Craig era, and we go and we sit on the set and there are these trays. It might have a mint or whatever it is; we realized that all of the trays, they were all Hoda’s stuff and it was, like, one contact and expired bean dip and belly button lint and all this stuff.”
Guthrie can also be heard saying in the video, “Oh, hey girl – guess you didn’t want any of this s***! Don’t mind me … love you.”
Moving forward, she also showed a clear plastic tray that was filled with random items, which she threw all into a nearby trash can, saying, “Look at the tray—it had rust and barnacles on it—I mean, it was disgusting!”
It is pertinent to mention that Kotb’s last day on the Today show was last Friday, January 10, 2025.
In a recent Instagram post, Savannah Guthrie gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the aftermath of Hoda Kotb’s departure from the ‘Today’ show. The photo shows a messy desk with papers scattered everywhere, coffee cups strewn about, and even a half-eaten bagel left behind.
Guthrie captioned the post, “This is what happens when @hodakotb leaves the studio in a hurry! Can’t believe the mess she left behind! #sloppystudio #cleanuponaislefour”
Fans were quick to comment on the post, with many jokingly calling out Kotb for her messy habits. One user wrote, “Hoda, you’ve got some explaining to do! ” While another added, “Looks like Hoda had a wild morning! “
It’s clear that Guthrie and Kotb have a playful and fun relationship, and fans love getting a glimpse into their off-screen antics. Hopefully, Kotb will clean up her act before her next appearance on the show!
