Schools close, announce virtual learning days on Wednesday due to winter weather


ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Several school districts changed their schedule ahead of winter weather on Tuesday — and as snow falls in metro Atlanta, some are deciding to shift plans on Wednesday, Jan. 22, too.

Much of metro Atlanta and south Georgia is under a Winter Weather Advisory, and a Winter Storm Warning is in effect for areas south of I-20. Gov. Brian Kemp also declared a state of emergency that lasts until next Tuesday.

>> FIRST ALERT WEATHER FORECAST

The snow is expected to move out of north Georgia by 9 or 10 p.m. Tuesday night is the coldest night in over a year, and the roads could be slick with ice patches on Wednesday.
