Scouting No. 10-ranked Alijah Arenas and his fit at USC

Alijah Arenas announced his commitment to USC and head coach Eric Musselman on Thursday afternoon. The 6-foot-6 guard from Chatsworth High School and the Compton Magic grassroots program recently became the No. 10 overall prospect in the national class of 2025, after finalizing his reclassification from 2026.

Musselman is in his first season with the Trojans and previously coached Arenas’ father, Gilbert Arenas, with the Golden State Warriors during the 2002-03 season. Now, Alijah becomes the first five-star prospect and McDonald’s All-American to commit to him since taking over the program last spring.

Arenas chose USC over Arizona, while also listing Kansas, Kentucky, and Louisville among his finalists. He joins a pair of other nationally ranked guards, No. 45 Jerry Easter and No. 132 Elzie Harrington, in the Trojans’ class 2025 class.

But it’s not just his on-field talent that makes Arenas an attractive prospect for USC. Off the field, he is known for his strong work ethic, leadership skills, and commitment to excellence.
