See the Country Star’s Transformation Through the Years

Carrie Underwood has come a long way since her days competing on American Idol.

The Oklahoma native got her start when she won season 2 of the hit singing competition back in 2005 and hasn’t slowed down since. She’s released chart-toppers such as “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” “Before He Cheats,” “All-American Girl,” “Last Name” and “Blown Away,” collecting multiple Grammys and dozens of other awards.

Come Jan. 20, Underwood will perform at the presidential inauguration.

“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” the singer, 41, said in a statement to PEOPLE. “I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”
