Significant storm could hit Columbus area Sunday
The National Weather Service is warning of a major winter storm that could blow through central Ohio this weekend.
According to the weather service’s Wilmington office, there is a medium to high chance for a major storm to hit the region Sunday into Monday.
According to the forecast, the largest chance of snowfall will be on Sunday evening, with a 70% of precipitation in the Columbus area, with chances of precipitation tapering off throughout Monday. The NWS is also predicting a potential for snowfall on Thursday and Friday.

Weather outlook for the next week:
- Thursday: Partly sunny, with a high near 35.
- Thursday night: Snow likely, mainly after 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28. West wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
- Friday: A chance of snow before 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 32. Chance of precipitation is 50%, with new snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
- Friday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 19.
- Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 25.
- Saturday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 14.
- Sunday: A chance of snow after 1 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 27. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
- Sunday night: Snow likely, mainly after 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 20. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
- Monday: A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 28. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
- Monday night: A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 17. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
- Tuesday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 27.
