Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka won the toss and opted to bowl in the first of three Twenty20 matches against New Zealand at Mount Maunganui on Saturday.

Hosts New Zealand handed debuts to wicketkeeper Mitchell Hay, opening batsman Tim Robinson and all-rounder Zakary Foulkes
