St. Louis Blues Place Forward on Waivers

The St. Louis Blues suffered a 5-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks last night. They got goals from Dylan Holloway and Colton Parayko. They will return on Friday night against the Colorado Avalanche. Today General Manager Doug Armstrong said that the Blues will be placing forward Brandon Saad on waivers. Saad is signed through next season at $4.5 million cap hit.

The Chicago Blackhawks drafted Saad 43rd overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He’s currently in his 14th NHL season. He’s played with the Chicago Blackhawks on two stints, Columbus Blue Jackets, Colorado Avalanche, and St. Louis Blues. In his first stint with Chicago, he played in 208 games recording 126 points on 52 goals and 74 assists. In Columbus, he spent two seasons playing in 160 games. He recorded 106 points on 55 goals and 51 assists.

Then it was back to Chicago where he spent three seasons. He played in 220 games recording 115 points on 62 goals and 53 assists. Saad spent one season in Colorado playing in 44 games. He recorded 24 points on 15 goals and nine assists. In the last four seasons, he’s been with the Blues playing in 274 games. Saad has recorded 144 points on 76 goals and 68 assists. This season in 43 games he has 16 points on seven goals and nine assists. Saad is a two-time Stanley Cup Champion winning both with Chicago in 2012-13 and 2014-15.
