NBA Player Props for Tuesday
- Stephen Curry
- Jalen Green
- Anfernee Simons
Stephen Curry Under 31.5 Points & Assists (-104)
Jazz vs Warriors , 10:00 p.m. ET
By Nick Galaida
The Jazz enter play with an uninspiring 10-34 record, but their defense has made marginal improvements recently. In January, Utah ranks a respectable 18th in defensive rating. They haven’t been a particularly great matchup for opposing guards in that stretch either, allowing only the 10th-most field goal attempts per game while defending the perimeter better than the league-average defense.
Curry has gone over this market number in only 14 of 37 games this season, including only 7 of 19 home games. The math favors the under.
Pick: Stephen Curry Under 31.5 Points & Assists (-104)
Jalen Green Under 4.5 Rebounds (-115)
Rockets vs Hawks, 9:30 p.m. ET
Amen Thompson is crushing on the glass, and it’s come at the expense of Green and the other starters. Thompson has now started in each of his last 10 appearances. He’s paced the team with 11.5 rebounds per game in that stretch. Green is averaging 3.8 rebounds on 6.8 rebound chances since Thompson became a full-time starter. His rebounding rate has fallen by 0.6% with Thompson on the floor. That’s not a ton, but Green already has a sub-7% mark. He can’t afford much more competition.
Atlanta has been decent on the glass this season, but they’ve struggled recently. It’s likely why we’re getting 4.5 at a decent price. The Hawks have been in the bottom five in rebounding rate and rebounds allowed in January. Jalen Johnson has been in and out of the lineup, which certainly hurts on the glass. I’d expect Thompson and Alperen Sengun to be the beneficiaries of the matchup. I don’t see it as a good enough spot to overcome the competition Green is now facing with Thompson in the lineup.
Pick: Jalen Green Under 4.5 Rebounds (-115)
Anfernee Simons Under 4.5 Assists (-145)
Bucks vs Trail Blazers, 10:00 p.m. ET
Portland’s lineup has undergone some changes this month, resulting in fewer assist opportunities for Simons. Scoot Henderson has seen an uptick in playing time, while Deni Avdija has been inserted into the starting lineup. Both players have outperformed Simons in the assist department lately.
Henderson averaged a season-high 28.1 minutes per game in January. Although he’s only made four starts, he’s played 30+ minutes in seven games. With Henderson on the court, Simons’ assist rate has fallen by 5.9%.
Avidja opened the season in the starting lineup but had come off the bench for much of November and December. He returned to the starting lineup just before the New Year and has now started in each of his last 13 games. Avdija missed a handful of games in mid-January, but Henderson stepped in for him and played big minutes. Simons has averaged 3.6 assists on 6.9 potential assists over his last 10 games. Henderson and Avdija have led the team in assists, potential assists, and passes in that stretch.
Milwaukee has held opponents to the 7th-fewest assists per game and the 10th-lowest assisted field goal rate. They’re top-five in defensive rating in January. Khris Middleton is unlikely to suit up in the second half of a back-to-back, which should be a slight boost for the Bucks‘ defense. The same goes for Bobby Portis, whose status is uncertain tonight.
Simons did have eight assists when these teams met a few weeks back, but they came on 8 potential assists. Portland shot a healthy 48.2% from the field, which is unlikely to happen again.
Pick: Anfernee Simons Under 4.5 Assists (-145)
Stephen Curry, Jalen Green, Anfernee Simons: A Trio of Sharpshooters
In the world of basketball, there are few players who can light up the court like Stephen Curry, Jalen Green, and Anfernee Simons. These three sharpshooters have the ability to score from anywhere on the court, making them a nightmare for opposing defenders.
Stephen Curry, a two-time MVP and three-time NBA champion, has revolutionized the game with his incredible shooting range and ball-handling skills. His ability to knock down three-pointers from well beyond the arc has changed the way the game is played, inspiring a new generation of players to develop their long-range shooting.
Jalen Green, a rising star in the NBA, is known for his explosive athleticism and scoring ability. The number two overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Green has quickly made a name for himself as one of the most exciting young players in the league. His ability to create his own shot and score in a variety of ways makes him a matchup nightmare for defenders.
Anfernee Simons, a young guard for the Portland Trail Blazers, has also made a name for himself as a deadly shooter. With a smooth shooting stroke and the ability to score in bunches, Simons has the potential to be a key contributor for the Blazers for years to come.
Together, Curry, Green, and Simons represent the best of the best when it comes to shooting in the NBA. Whether it’s Curry’s deep threes, Green’s explosive scoring, or Simons’ smooth stroke, these three players are sure to keep fans on the edge of their seats every time they step onto the court.
