Leeds United will be hoping to see out the New Year on top of the Championship table but need Sheffield United to drop some points, as they sit three points ahead of the Whites.

Leeds have only lost three times this season, with very similar form to the top four – including Burnley and Sunderland.

They’re all only separated by five points so Leeds will need to get something this Christmas to keep their spot in the automatics.

Stoke on the other hand, are struggling towards the bottom of the table after losing four of their last five, only drawing the other one so have slumped down to 19th in the table.

Stoke have won three of their last four home games when facing Leeds.

That form against them is strong but their recent form coming into this may make it a tougher game, though this is the Championship so you can’t rule it out either.

Stoke are a huge price to win based on their slump and Leeds going strong – as they’ve avoided defeat so often.

Leeds have also won three of their last four league games against Stoke as the majority have come from Elland Road.

Each time they’ve not conceded either – with 3-0 and 5-0 wins in the 2019/20 season and a 1-0 victory in March 2024.

On Boxing Day, Stoke have the better record as they’ve only lost once in their last eight, whereas Leeds have lost four of their last ten.

The best way to bet on this clash seems to be to avoid the result as Leeds are too short and Stoke are a risky 5/1 shot.

Leeds beat Stoke 5-0back in 2020 and there’s only been two 1-0’s since then – but prior to that the goals were common between these two and that should be the case on Boxing Day evening.

Leeds often have a variety of goal scorers; three different scorers against Middlesbrough two weeks ago and four different in their 4-0 win over Oxford, so it would be wise to add either Daniel James or Brenden Aaronson who have both scored in both of those games.
