Video: Sun this morning before steady snow moves in tonight
Matt Hoenig has a look at the best and worst time to travel as snow moves across the state.
Quiet for now, but our next system arrives later on tonight with some steady snow, and that’s going to create some tough travel conditions later on this evening and through the overnight hours. It is *** mostly sunny morning with some areas of patchy fog. Expect the clouds to thicken up later. Iran and some snow will start to break out between about 4 and 7 o’clock this evening. The heaviest falls from 8 o’clock through midnight tonight, but it is largely done by early tomorrow morning. It’s of course *** busy travel day on this long holiday weekend. Expect the roads to be in great shape through at least 1 noon time or even 1 or 2 o’clock, but beyond 3, that’s when we’ll start to see some lower impacts due to some light snow breaking out after 5 or 6 o’clock tonight. It’s very high impacts due to weather as roads quickly become slippery and snow covered. Weather system moving through the deep South tonight or this morning I should say gains some energy off the East Coast and that will arrive here in New England later on this evening, but it’s *** quick mover. It’s out of here by early Monday so what comes our way is *** quick but fairly intense burst of snow later on today. Clouds breaking for some sunshine through late morning, but then we’ll see the clouds return later on today. Light snow should start to break out after 4 o’clock. It will turn steady, if not even heavy for *** couple of hours in southern parts of the state this evening. Snowfall rates could approach 1 inch per hour. That will lower visibility out on the roadways and just expect slow and tough travel conditions all night long. After about 2 a.m., I think the intensity of the snow will start to wane *** bit. As skies will brighten up right around sunrise tomorrow morning, expect anything that’s untreated or unplowed early tomorrow to certainly be tough going, but otherwise I think the commute. Into work tomorrow if you have to work on MLK Day looks OK, at least *** lot better compared to what we’ll have out there tonight. Much of the state now expected to pick up 4 to 8 inches of snow. The best chance of picking up over *** half foot will be in the southern part of the state. You get say north of Plymouth up through the western White Mountains, northern parts of the Connecticut River Valley into the Great North Woods. It’s *** bit of *** lighter snowfall there with 2 to 4 inches expected, and this will be very light and fluffy, so it adds up pretty quickly along the coastline by 10 o’clock tonight, already 2 inches on the ground in Portsmouth, and by early tomorrow morning we’ll wake up to about *** half foot of fresh snowfall in Lincoln. This is great news for places like Loon and. In nearby 5 inches of snow on the ground by sunrise on Monday. What follows this system is *** blast of some bitter cold air. Nighttime temperatures through the early part of the week likely to slip back below zero for *** lot of us. And when you factor in *** gusty wind both Monday and Tuesday, it will feel like it is sub-zero at times. Check out the wind chills. Early on Monday, 10 to 15 degrees below zero far north and *** few degrees below zero in central and southern New Hampshire. Even with some sunshine tomorrow, it still feels bitterly cold on Monday afternoon. *** good idea to bundle up if you have to be outdoors for more than just *** couple of minutes, and these kind of conditions, frostbite can form in about 15 to 20 minutes on exposed skin. And then the real core of this cold air overhead early Tuesday morning as wind chills dip between 10 and 20 below statewide. High temperatures today back in the 30s to near 40 for many of us as early sun gives way to increasing clouds and then the Arctic air spills in tonight as that snow continues through the wee hours of tomorrow. Morning. Several days of impact weather due to the cold, blustery weather on the way through Tuesday and Wednesday. It is mostly quiet though as high pressure sits nearby that’ll provide us with *** fair amount of sunshine though each afternoon there may be some bubbly clouds working on through. There may be *** spot flurry on Thursday as the temperatures gradually moderate through late week.

As I gazed out my window this morning, the sun was shining brightly, casting a warm glow over everything it touched. The sky was a brilliant shade of blue, with not a cloud in sight.
However, this peaceful scene is not meant to last. Weather reports indicate that steady snowfall is on the way, set to move in later today. The contrast between the sunny morning and the impending snowstorm is a stark reminder of the unpredictable nature of winter weather.
As I take in the beauty of the sun-drenched landscape outside, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation for the snow that is to come. The peaceful morning will soon be transformed into a winter wonderland, blanketed in a layer of white.
But for now, I will savor the fleeting moments of sunshine before the snowfall arrives, grateful for the beauty of each changing season.
