  • Seattle mom arrested after ‘domestic violence’ incident leaves 14-year-old son dead


    Seattle police arrested a 29-year-old mother for investigation of homicide after her 14-year-old died following a reported domestic violence incident Thursday afternoon.

    Police said at around 2:17 p.m., officers responded to a “domestic violence altercation” in the 4000 block of 14th Avenue South involving a mother and her unresponsive teenage son.

    According to police, when officers arrived, they found the 14-year-old son suffering from multiple injuries. The Seattle Fire Department arrived at the scene shortly after and provided medical aid, police said.

    “The boy was transported to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) in critical condition. Despite all life-saving efforts, he was pronounced deceased at HMC,” wrote Seattle police in a media release. “The victim’s 29-year-old mother was arrested for Investigation of Homicide and booked into King County Jail.”

    Officers proceeded to cordon off the residence, and detectives with homicide, crime scene investigation, and special assault units arrived and processed the scene.

    Detectives with the Sexual Assault & Child Abuse Unit have been assigned to this case, according to Seattle police.

    An Amber Alert that was issued for a teenage girl who was abducted from Inglewood has been canceled, according to California Highway Patrol investigators.

    Nevaeh Holden, 14 years old, was last seen on 97th Street and Flower Street earlier Wednesday at around 12:30 p.m., police said. Just before 6 p.m., they canceled the alert, reporting that the girl had been found safely.

    They haven’t yet released information surrounding the alleged abduction surrounding Holden’s disappearance, but officers were also searching for 59-year-old Edward Mason, who they had identified as the suspect. 

    Holden is described as standing about 5-foot-5 and weighing 100 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a black shirt with black leggings a pink headwrap and black Croc sandals. 

    Mason is 6-foot-2 and weighs about 220 pounds, police said. He has black/gray hair with brown eyes and was last seen driving a black 2013 Dodge Caravan with the California license plate “6ZMY987.” 

    They did not release information on how or where Holden was located. One person was arrested, but officers did not say if it was Mason.

    CHP issued the Amber Alert on behalf of the Inglewood Police Department.

    Holden is described is 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 100 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black shirt, black leggings, black Croc sandals and a pink headwrap. 

    The suspect was identified by authorities as 59-year-old Edward Mason. He was described as 6 feet 2 inches tall, 220 pounds, with black/gray hair and brown eyes. It’s unknown what he was wearing at the time of the abduction. 

    Mason is said to be driving a 2013 black Dodge Caravan with the California license plate number 6ZMY987.

    Amber Alert issued for 15-year-old girl taken from Inglewood

    A 15-year-old from Inglewood was abducted Wednesday by a 59-year-old suspect, CHP said.

    INGLEWOOD, Calif. (KABC) — An Amber Alert was issued Wednesday afternoon for a missing 14-year-old girl who was last seen in Inglewood after allegedly being abducted.

    The California Highway Patrol issued the alert shortly before 4:30 p.m. in Los Angeles, Orange and Ventura counties.

    The victim, Nevaeh Holden, was last seen in the area of 97th and Flower streets in Inglewood, according to the CHP.

    The suspect being sought in the abduction was identified as 59-year-old Edward Mason. He was described as 6 feet, 2 inches tall, weighing about 220 pounds, with black-and-gray hair and brown eyes.

    Along with photos of the girl and the suspect, the Highway Patrol released an image of a vehicle connected to the case: a black 2013 Dodge Caravan SUV with California license plate No. 6ZMY987.
