IRS, national partners launch EITC Awareness Day on 50th anniversary of the Earned Income Tax Credit

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service and partners around the nation today celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) with the launch of this year’s EITC Awareness Day campaign.
The annual campaign, now in its 19th year, helps increase awareness among the millions of working Americans with a low-to-moderate income who are eligible for the EITC. The IRS estimates that roughly one in five eligible taxpayers miss out on claiming this valuable credit.
EITC was signed into law on March 29, 1975. Through numerous legislative changes, the tax break has helped encourage work and lift many financially challenged families out of poverty.
As of December 2024, approximately 23 million workers and families had received about $64 billion total from the EITC, according to IRS statistics. On average, eligible taxpayers received $2,743 from the credit in tax year 2023.
For the past 19 years, the IRS has invited community organizations, elected officials, state and local governments, schools, employers and other interested parties to join this national grassroots effort to help reach workers eligible for the credit. IRS offers an online social media toolkit with sample text and downloadable graphics to help spread the word about the EITC.
Who is eligible to claim the EITC?
Workers may use the EITC Assistant, an online tool, to check their eligibility, which may be affected by changes in marital, parental or financial status. Workers also may visit the Child-related tax benefits comparison page to learn more about basic eligibility rules for the EITC and several other tax credits.
EITC is for workers whose income did not exceed the following limits in 2024:

Workers also must:
- Be a U.S. citizen or resident alien all year.
- File a tax return even if their income level doesn’t usually require them to file.
- Have a valid Social Security number (SSN) for themselves, as well as for their spouse, if filing a joint return, and for each qualifying dependent claimed for the EITC.
- File a return without Form 2555, Foreign Earned Income.
There are special rules for military personnel, clergy and ministers and taxpayers with certain types of disability income or a child who is disabled.
Eligible workers between the ages of 25 and 64 who have no dependents may receive up to $632 by claiming the EITC, while married but separated spouses who do not file a joint return may qualify for the EITC if they meet certain requirements.
Those with qualifying children can receive a maximum of $7,830 when claiming the EITC for tax year 2024, up from $7,430 in tax year 2023.
How to claim the EITC
To get the EITC, workers must file a tax return and claim the credit on that return. They can file in a variety of ways, including by using:
As a reminder, the quickest way for taxpayers to get their refund is by e-filing an accurate return and choosing to receive that refund via direct deposit.
New this year: Duplicate dependents
Starting this filing season, the IRS will accept an e-filed return even if a dependent has already been claimed on a separate, previously filed return as long as the primary taxpayer on the second return includes a valid identity protection personal identification number (IP PIN).
This change will reduce the time it takes for the agency to receive the tax return and accelerate the issuance of tax refunds for those with duplicate dependent returns. In previous years, the second tax return had to be filed by paper.
Meanwhile, taxpayers who do not have IP PINs will have their e-filed returns rejected if one of their dependents has already been claimed by another taxpayer.
Note that the use of an IP PIN does not exempt taxpayers from receiving notices questioning their right to claim certain dependents.
Claiming other valuable tax credits
Whether they qualify for the EITC, taxpayers may be eligible for other valuable tax credits, such as the Child Tax Credit (CTC), the Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) or the Credit for Other Dependents (ODC). The Interactive Tax Assistant is a helpful tool for taxpayers to check their eligibility for those credits.
When to expect EITC refunds
The Where’s My Refund? tool, which allows taxpayers to monitor the status of their refunds, will be updated with projected deposit dates for most early EITC/ACTC refund filers by Feb. 22. Most EITC or ACTC related refunds should be available in bank accounts or on debit cards by March 3 if there are no issues with a taxpayer’s return and they chose to receive their refund by direct deposit.

MPL and UMe commemorate the 50th anniversary of Wings’ fourth studio album with a half-speed master edition
One of the world’s most beloved rock outfits, Wings came to define the era of 1970s arena rock while dominating the airwaves with no fewer than 14 US Top 10 hits and 12 Top 10 hits in the UK. Following their 1973 masterpiece Band on the Run, Venus and Mars would represent another peak of Wings’ creative and commercial heyday. The band’s fourth studio album was released on May 27, 1975, ahead of the legendary Wings Over the World Tour. Preceded by the US No. 1 single “Listen To What The Man Said” and featuring “Letting Go,” a fan favorite in Paul McCartney’s live set to this day, Venus and Mars hit No. 1 in the album charts on both sides of the Atlantic and went on to sell over four million copies worldwide.
This special 50th-anniversary vinyl edition was cut at half speed using a high-resolution transfer of the original master tapes from 1975 by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios. The album is presented as a meticulous reproduction of the original UK pressing, with recreations of the original “Venus and Mars are alright tonight” circular sticker and “comparative sizes of sun and planets” bookmark sticker and comes with two posters with photography by Aubrey Powell and Sylvia de Swaan. The iconic album artwork by Hipgnosis has been meticulously recreated and presented in a gatefold sleeve.
Venus and Mars will also be available in Dolby Atmos for the first time, newly mixed by Giles Martin and Steve Orchard.
Less than one year after Band on the Run’s release, the first recording sessions for Venus and Mars took place in November 1974 and featured a revamped Wings line-up. Following the departure of Denny Seiwell and Henry McCullough on the eve of the Band on the Run sessions in Lagos, Paul, Linda McCartney, and Denny Laine were now joined by guitarist Jimmy McCulloch and drummer Geoff Britton. After recording “Letting Go,” “Medicine Jar,” and “Love In Song” at Abbey Road Studios, Wings left London for New Orleans’ Sea Saint Studios, facing another unexpected line-up shift with Geoff Britton’s exit, recruiting Joe English to complete the album.
In tandem with Venus and Mars topping the charts worldwide, the album’s predecessor, Band on the Run, continued building its global multi-platinum popularity. With a powerful new line-up solidified, Wings’ response to the overwhelming demand surrounding them was to launch the Wings Over the World Tour — a 65-date run of shows starting in 1975 and stretching into October 1976.
The first Wings release for 2025, Venus and Mars follows 2024’s theatrical release of the rare Wings live-in-studio performance film One Hand Clapping and its accompanying album, as well as last year’s 50th-anniversary edition of Band on the Run. A special half-speed master edition of the band’s 1975 fourth studio record is due for release on March 21. Pre-order it here.
The original version of the LP arrived ahead of Paul McCartney and co’s legendary ‘Wings Over The World’ tour, and was preceded by the US Number One single ‘Listen To What The Man Said’. Additionally, the album featured ‘Letting Go’ – a fan favourite in McCartney’s solo live set to this day.
‘Venus And Mars’ peaked at Number One in the US and UK, and went on to sell over four million copies worldwide.
The 50th anniversary vinyl edition was cut at half speed using a high-resolution transfer of the original master tapes from 1975 by Miles Showell at the historic Abbey Road Studios in London.
It is presented as “a meticulous reproduction of the original UK pressing” with recreations of the original ‘Venus and Mars are alright tonight’ circular sticker and ‘comparative sizes of sun and planets’ bookmark sticker.
The forthcoming collection is accompanied by two posters with photography by Aubrey Powell and Sylvia de Swaan, and its iconic cover artwork by Hipgnosis has been recreated and presented in a gatefold sleeve.

Paul McCartney / Venus and Mars 50th anniversary edition – SuperDeluxeEdition
Paul McCartney has announced a 50th anniversary vinyl edition of his 1975 Wings album Venus and Mars.
The album was Wings’ fourth and the follow-up to their classic Band on the Run. Venus and Mars would reach number one on the album charts on both side of the Atlantic, going on to sell over four million copies worldwide.
Mostly recorded in New Orleans, this period would saw a change in the Wings lineup as McCartney would recruit guitarist Jimmy McCullough and replace short-lived drummer Geoff Britton midway through recording, with the more Macca-friendly Joe English. The album features fan favourite ‘Letting Go’ and hit single ‘Listen To What The Man Said’, which reached number one in the US singles chart.
Paul plays Listen to What The Man said on 1976’s Wings Over America tour The vinyl is half-speed mastered edition, cut by Miles Showell at Abbey Road and there’s no bonus material just a “meticulous reproduction” of the original UK pressing, with an OBI-strip. Venus and Mars will also be available – digitally only – in Dolby Atmos for the first time, having been newly mixed by Giles Martin and Steve Orchard.
Venus and Mars will be reissued on 21 March 2025 via MPL and UMe. It’s only available via Universal/McCartney channels until Friday, when it will be listed in ‘normal’ retail outlets.

SAKS FIFTH AVENUE CELEBRATES THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE
In honor of Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary, Saks Fifth Avenue is unveiling a special window installation at the Saks Fifth Avenue New York flagship store. From now through February 10th, Saks’ legendary Fifth Avenue windows will take customers on a journey through SNL moments over the past 50 years, alongside limited-edition, show-inspired merchandise, available only at Saks.
Curated in partnership with SNL’s costume designer, the windows use archival costumes and video to highlight the intersection of costume design and storytelling. The first five windows pay homage to each decade of SNL’s history. Each one highlights two memorable sketches and characters from each decade of the show. Sketches include Bill Murray’s “Nick the Lounge Singer” from the 1970s, Dana Carvey and Kevin Nealon’s “Hans and Franz” from the 1980s, Molly Shannon’s “Mary Katherine Gallagher” from the 1990s, Bill Hader’s “Stefon” from the 2000s and “The Californians” from the 2010s, among others.

SNL 50 Long-Sleeve Shirt – $70
This long-sleeved shirt is black with white stripes around the middle of the sleeves. “SNL” is in white text on top of blue, yellow, green, and pink color blocks over the left breast.
The back of the shirt has the Saturday Night Live wordmark across the shoulders. Below it are the same four color blocks featuring iconic characters from various skits.
SNL 50 Adult Shirt – $30
This shirt is black with white sleeve cuffs and a white collar. The “SNL” logo is on the front and the letters are made up of characters from various skits on the show.
SNL 50 Mug – $18
This white mug has a color block pattern of SNL skit characters with the “SNL” logo in black within the pattern.
The mug’s interior is a glossy dark blue.

This clear glass contains the same pattern as the mug above.

This ornament is two sided and features the SNL 50 logo on the top of each side. The same color block pattern of iconic characters makes up the front of this sherpa throw while the back is a grey color.

The poster features some of the same characters from the ornament above as well as others including Blues Brothers and Spartan Cheerleaders.

This tumbler features a large “50” centered on the front in bronze on a black background with the Saturday Night Live wordmark. The Saturday might logo is embossed in black in various fonts as an all-over pattern on the black background.
The back of the tumbler reads “Saturday Night Live 50” in bronze and white text. Near the bottom is a pattern of light fixtures with lightbulbs that surround the entire tumbler.
The lid is clear with a slide-to-close feature to prevent spills when not in use.
