  • Arsenal did not bid £60m for Ollie Watkins as true price of ‘rejected’ bid revealed

Arsenal did not offer as much as £60million to Aston Villa for England striker Ollie Watkins, according to a report.

It was reported on Wednesday night that Arsenal made an audacious bid to sign Watkins from Aston Villa, hours before both clubs played in the Champions League.

Mikel Arteta’s side had already secured qualification into the last 16 of the competition but the Villans had to win against Celtic and receiving an offer so close to kick-off reportedly frustrated the club’s hierarchy.

The timing was bizarre and clearly won’t help negotiations, with the Gunners considering an improved offer.

It was widely reported that Arsenal’s bid was £60million and rejected by their Premier League rivals.

However, a report from The Telegraph says the Londoners made a bid worth ‘closer to £45million’.

It is said Villa are ‘adamant they do not want to sell’ with the actual offer ‘around half’ his valuation.

    The report says:

With Arsenal weighing up whether to test Villa’s resolve with a second offer, Telegraph Sport understands the opening bid that was immediately rejected was closer to £45 million than the £60 million that was originally reported.

There was annoyance inside Villa Park at the timing of the bid – ahead of the Champions League game against Celtic – and the size of the offer. Sources likened it to West Ham’s £57 million bid for Jhon Durán ahead of the Monaco game that was rejected out of hand.

Neither Arsenal nor Villa would comment on the exact fee offered for Watkins, with Villa believing it was irrelevant given they do not want to sell the 29-year-old in the final days of the transfer window. Arsenal believe their bid represented fair market value and was not timed to cause any problems.

Well-placed insiders believe Villa value Watkins at more than £80 million in the current market, even though they have not set an asking price or given Arsenal a figure to try to hit.

Arsenal are considering whether to make a second bid, but the Premier League title-chasers would have to increase it significantly to stand any chance of changing Villa’s stance. It is unclear whether Villa would be forced to consider an offer if Watkins expressed a desire to leave.

There is also acknowledgement that Durán’s impending move to Saudi Arabia, for an initial £64 million plus add-ons, will make a successful move for Watkins even more difficult for Arsenal.

Villa on Wednesday night dismissed the prospect of selling both their star strikers so close to the end of the transfer window and the club will look to reinvest some of the Durán cash once the move goes through.

As mentioned in the report, Jhon Duran is set to move to Saudi Arabia.

When that transfer is finalised, Villa will probably want even more than £80m to part ways with Watkins.

According to recent reports, Arsenal did not actually bid £60m for Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins, as previously rumored. The true price of the bid that was reportedly rejected by Villa has been revealed to be significantly lower.

It seems that the initial reports of Arsenal’s £60m bid were inaccurate, with sources now indicating that the actual bid made by the Gunners was much less than that figure. This revelation has shed new light on the situation and the true extent of Arsenal’s interest in Watkins.

While Arsenal may still be interested in signing Watkins, it appears that their initial bid was not as high as originally reported. It remains to be seen whether the Gunners will make another offer for the talented striker, but for now, it seems that the £60m bid was nothing more than a rumor.

Man City open talks for €60m former Barcelona midfielder, club have 40% sell-on clause

Man City open talks for €60m former Barcelona midfielder, club have 40% sell-on clause

FC Barcelona could find themselves in a situation where they can benefit financially in a big way before the transfer window closes through a deal involving one of their former players.

Mika Marmol, currently at UD Las Palmas, is attracting interest from AS Roma as well as Sevilla, with Barça retaining 50% of his rights.

Now, another former La Masia talent, Nico Gonzalez, playing at FC Porto is the subject of transfer speculation.

    Man City want Nico Gonzalez

According to Fabrizio Romano, Premier League champions Manchester City have opened talks to sign Nico Gonzalez from Porto – a deal which would bring significant revenue for Barcelona.

Pep Guardiola’s side have made a formal approach for the Spanish talent and are in talks with the Portuguese giants as they seek to add a new midfielder before the transfer window closes.

Nico has a release clause worth €60 million in his contract with Porto, while Barcelona hold a 40% future sell-on clause.

As per the update from Romano, Porto are unwilling to let the ex-La Masia talent leave and will only consider his departure for a significantly high fee.

In that scenario, the Blaugrana will stand to benefit greatly as they would be entitled to 40% of the transfer fee that Manchester City pay to Porto for Nico.

Should the deal go ahead swiftly, it might also open the doors for Barcelona to sign Marcus Rashford, whose pursuit has hit a standstill owing to the lack of salary space.

Manchester City is reportedly in talks to sign former Barcelona midfielder, Thiago Alcantara, for a fee of €60 million. The Spanish international, who currently plays for Bayern Munich, is said to be interested in a move to the Premier League.

One interesting aspect of the potential transfer is that Barcelona have a 40% sell-on clause in place for Thiago, meaning they will receive a significant portion of any future transfer fee if he is sold by City.

Thiago, known for his technical ability and vision on the field, would be a valuable addition to City’s midfield as they look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.

In that scenario, the Blaugrana will stand to benefit greatly as they would be entitled to 40% of the transfer fee that Manchester City pay to Porto for Nico. In the case of his €60 million release clause being triggered, Barça would receive €24 million.

Should the deal go ahead swiftly, it might also open the doors for Barcelona to sign Marcus Rashford, whose pursuit has hit a standstill owing to the lack of salary space.

Manchester City have reportedly opened talks with former Barcelona midfielder, who is currently playing for another club. The Premier League champions are said to be willing to pay €60m for the talented midfielder, who has impressed with his performances in recent years.

It is understood that City are keen to bring the player to the Etihad Stadium as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. The club are said to be in negotiations with the player’s current club, with a deal potentially close to being agreed.

One interesting aspect of the deal is that Barcelona have a 40% sell-on clause in the midfielder’s contract, meaning they would be entitled to a significant portion of any future transfer fee. This could complicate negotiations between the two clubs, but City are said to be confident of reaching an agreement.

City fans will be excited at the prospect of adding such a talented player to their squad, and will be hoping that a deal can be completed in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing transfer story.

Brighton reject €60m offer for Kaoru Mitoma from Al-Nassr

According to L’Équipe, Al-Nassr have submitted a €60m offer to sign Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma (27). The Seagulls have rejected the offer submitted by the Saudi Arabian club as they seek to keep the Japanese international attacker on the South Coast of England.

The initial offer has been rejected by the Premier League club but Al-Nassr are expected to return with a larger offer for Mitoma. It remains to be seen whether the 27-year-old would be keen to leave Brighton and move to the Middle East before the January transfer window closes.

    Premier League raid

Al-Nassr have targeted a raid on the Premier League before the winter window closes. The Saudi Pro League club are set to complete a deal to sign Aston Villa forward Jhon Duran (21) for more than €70m. PSG and West Ham United were interested in a move for the Colombian but he opted for a move to Al-Nassr.

    GFFN | Liam Wraith

Brighton have rejected a lucrative €60 million offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr for the services of Japanese winger Kaoru Mitoma. The Seagulls are determined to hold on to the talented 24-year-old, who has been in scintillating form this season.

Mitoma has been a key player for Brighton, contributing with goals and assists on a regular basis. His performances have caught the eye of several top clubs, but Brighton are not willing to let him go for any price.

The Japanese international has expressed his desire to stay at Brighton and continue his development under manager Graham Potter. Mitoma believes that he can achieve great things with the Seagulls and wants to repay the faith shown in him by the club.

Despite Al-Nassr’s sizeable offer, Brighton are standing firm in their decision to keep Mitoma at the club. The Seagulls are confident that they can build a competitive team around the talented winger and push for European qualification in the coming seasons.

Mitoma’s future at Brighton may still be uncertain, but one thing is for sure – the club will not be swayed by big money offers from abroad. Brighton are determined to keep hold of their prized asset and continue their upward trajectory in the Premier League.

  • Arsenal ‘Talks Advancing’ to Sign Ollie Watkins in £60m Deal, he Wants Move

Arsenal could be about to enter talks for the marquee signing of the January transfer window, according to a report – with Aston Villa reportedly being approached for striker Ollie Watkins, as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his striking ranks before the window closes next week.

Arsenal have recently lost Gabriel Jesus to a season-ending knee injury, and with Eddie Nketiah being sold to Crystal Palace in the summer, it means that only Kai Havertz is capable of leading the line in the current market. The club’s search for a striker is no surprise – however a shock link to Watkins could see one of the Premier League‘s most stunning January transfers of all time, with a report claiming that it will take a fee of £60million to land the England star.

The report by Twitter account @TheSecretScout_ claims that Arsenal have approached Villa to sign Watkins, with a fee in the region of £60million being floated.

There hasn’t been an agreement or a decision just yet, but talks with Villa and the player’s representatives are advancing, with Arsenal aiming to land the forward before Monday’s deadline. Villa, if they do lose Watkins, would look to bring in Joao Felix – but only before Watkins’ possible departure. Crucially, the Villans hero is thought to want the move.

Having been at Villa for the past four-and-a-half years, Watkins has been the club’s best out-and-out striker for some time. Already registering 10 Premier League goals at the club this season, he notched 19 in all competitions last season when the Villans finished fourth to qualify for the Champions League. And, with 69 goals and 31 assists marking his century of goal contributions in the Premier League inside just 169 games, Watkins is no doubt one of the league’s top strikers at present.

His talismanic nature means that the Gunners could look to spring a surprise on Liverpool in the title race, currently sitting just six points behind the league leaders albeit having played a game more – and Watkins’ decisive nature in the final third could prove vital for Arteta in the second half of the campaign.

According to recent reports, talks between Arsenal and Aston Villa are said to be advancing in a potential deal for striker Ollie Watkins. The Gunners are reportedly willing to pay around £60 million to secure the services of the talented forward, who has expressed his desire to make the move to North London.

Watkins, who has been in fine form for Villa this season, scoring 14 goals in the Premier League, is seen as a key target for Arsenal as they look to strengthen their attacking options. The 25-year-old has impressed with his pace, movement, and finishing ability, making him a coveted asset for many top clubs.

It is believed that Watkins is keen on the prospect of joining Arsenal and playing under manager Mikel Arteta, who has reportedly identified him as a key target for the upcoming transfer window. With talks progressing between the two clubs, it remains to be seen whether a deal can be finalized in the coming weeks.

Arsenal fans will be hoping that the club can secure the signing of Watkins, as they look to bolster their squad and mount a stronger challenge in the Premier League next season. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing transfer story.

  • Pacers Could Land $60M Center in Massive Move Ahead of Trade Deadline

The Indiana Pacers have completely bounced back from a slow start to their season. The Pacers have put themselves in a position to make a massive splash ahead of the upcoming trade deadline in the NBA.

Indiana has a strong roster but they may need just a little more firepower to truly compete against the other elite teams in the Eastern Conference. In this new trade idea, the Pacers go all-in and land a multi-time All-Star center to boost their chances.

The deal would be between the Pacers, Chicago Bulls, and Atlanta Hawks. After using the Spotrac trade machine and abiding by the new CBA restrictions in place, here is what the deal would look like between the three teams:

    Pacers receive: Nikola Vucevic

Bulls receive: Clint Capela, Isaiah Jackson, and a 2025 first-round draft pick

    Hawks receive: Obi Toppin, Talen Horton-Tucker, a 2025 second-round draft pick, and a 2030 second-round draft pick

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS – NOVEMBER 04: Walker Kessler #24 of the Utah Jazz and Nikola Vucevic #9 of the Chicago Bulls battle for a rebound during the second half at the United Center on November 04,…

    Why Pacers do this

Indiana doesn’t need to do anything but adding a player like Vucevic could drastically change the outcome of their year. Vucevic is an All-Star-level talent who could provide more size to this Pacers rotation.

Myles Turner is scheduled to be a free agent at the end of the year so he would also give Indiana some insurance if he were to leave. Indiana wants to retain Turner but there is no guarantee that he will return once he goes onto the open market.

    Why Bulls do this

Chicago has been looking to move Vucevic for some time as they enter into a rebuild. In this deal, they would land an expiring $22 million contract in Capela, giving them some financial flexibility heading into the offseason.

The Bulls also land an additional first-round draft pick for the upcoming year. The 2025 draft class is considered to be a strong one so the Bulls could heavily benefit from having the extra draft pick.

    Why Hawks do this

Atlanta has been looking to possibly move Capela before the trade deadline and they would land a nice player in Toppin for him. With Capela being a free agent at the end of the year, the Hawks make sure they receive something for his services.

The team also would get a few extra draft picks to potentially use in other deals down the line. Atlanta has played better of late but Capela still seems like he could be on the move ahead of the deadline.

The Indiana Pacers are reportedly in talks to potentially land a $60M center in a massive move ahead of the upcoming trade deadline. This potential acquisition could have a significant impact on the team’s roster and playoff aspirations.

Rumors have been swirling around the Pacers organization as they look to bolster their frontcourt and add a dominant presence in the paint. With a $60M center on the table, the team could see a major upgrade in their defensive capabilities and rebounding prowess.

While the details of the potential trade remain undisclosed, fans are buzzing with excitement at the prospect of adding such a high-caliber player to their roster. The Pacers are currently sitting in a competitive position in the Eastern Conference, and this move could solidify their standing as a force to be reckoned with.

As the trade deadline approaches, all eyes will be on the Pacers organization to see if they can pull off this blockbuster move and secure the services of a $60M center. Stay tuned for updates as the situation continues to develop.

  • Sky Sports Reporter Shares Exciting Newcastle Transfer Update on £60m Star

Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is not looking to leave the club in January and is ‘absolutely loving’ life at St James’ Park, Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge has exclusively told GIVEMESPORT.

Despite recent stories linking the Swedish international with a blockbuster winter move to Arsenal, Isak appears to have no plans to depart mid-season and remains focused on finishing the campaign with the Magpies.

According to Bridge, there seems to be ‘absolutely nothing’ in Isak’s links to other Premier League clubs, with Newcastle personnel confident the 25-year-old will stay for the remainder of the season.

Isak has been producing career-best numbers in the Premier League this term, scoring 15 goals in 20 top-flight appearances.

    Isak’s Newcastle Departure Ruled Out

Amid ‘interest’ from Premier League clubs

Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak celebrates

Bridge, speaking exclusively to GIVEMESPORT, dismissed speculation linking Isak with a January move elsewhere:

“In terms of Isak, it’s just an example of just how incredible they’ve done in the market, you know, Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali.

“And the message I get from people at Newcastle is that Isak’s going nowhere, and he’s absolutely loving it there.

“He seems to be linked with every huge club at the moment, but there seems to be absolutely nothing on that.”

Isak has been on an impressive run of form lately, netting 11 goals in his last nine appearances, helping Newcastle win six of those matches and climb to fourth in the table.

The 25-year-old ranks third among Premier League top scorers this term, trailing only Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland.

Since moving from Real Sociedad in a £63m transfer in 2022, Isak has scored 52 goals in 91 games and was linked with signing a new long-term contract last year.

Newcastle have yet to make any new signings in the January window but are reportedly monitoring the winger market as they look to replace Miguel Almiron.

The Paraguayan winger is now a subject of interest for MLS side Atlanta United, where he spent two seasons before joining the Magpies in 2019.

  • Mayberry Runs World-Leading 60m on Corky Classic Day One

LUBBOCK, Texas – Freshman Indya Mayberry had quite the collegiate debut, dropping the fastest 60m time in the world so far this year with a blistering 7.11 on the opening night of the Corky Classic at the Sports Performance Center Indoor Track on the campus of Texas Tech.

Mayberry led the field with a 7.18 to advance to the semifinal, where she broke the TCU school record and recorded the third fastest collegiate time by a freshman in NCAA history. Her mark trails only Georgia’s Kaila Jackson (7.07, 2023) and Oregon’s Jadyn Mays (7.09, 2022) and is tied with Texas’ Teahna Daniel (7.11, 2016).

Benjamin Kirbo also saw his own school record fall with a 5.41m (17-9) jump in the pole vault. The junior has now broken the top mark three times in his Horned Frog career.

TCU’s Tabitha Ngao and Graydon Morris also earned event victories. Ngao won the 800m with a time of 2:08.78, and Morris crossed the finish line first in the 3000m with an 8:13.34.
