Aaron Pierre has a pretty good 2024 between leading the action thriller Rebel Ridge, which can be streamed with a Netflix subscription, and voicing the title character of Mufasa: The Lion King, which is now playing in theaters. As the cherry on top of the proverbial sundae, though, he was also cast to play John Stewart in Lanterns, the Green Lantern-focused series set in the new DC Universe franchise. I’m already intrigued about what Lanterns has in store, but after hearing about Pierre’s early introduction to Stewart, I’m even more hopeful about his take on the character in the upcoming DC TV show.

After admitting in an interview with EW that he hasn’t seen Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern movie, which failed to impress critically or commercially when it was released in 2011, Pierre stated that he was exposed to John Stewart early on from one of the best animated TV shows of all time. In his words:

I think Justice League Unlimited might have been one of my first introductions to John Stewart.

He’s definitely not alone in having learned about John Stewart from Justice League Unlimited or its Justice League predecessor, voiced by Phil LaMarr in both. Although Stewart has been part of DC Comics lore since he was introduced in the pages of Green Lantern #87 in the early 1970s, it was the Justice League animated series, which premiered in 2001, that he became a mainstream DC character. Although Hal Jordan is traditionally depicted as the Green Lantern who helps form the Justice League, the DC Animated Universe went with Stewart instead. This in turn led to John Stewart’s profile increasing in the comics.

The John Stewart Green Lantern in Justice League Unlimited

The John Stewart Green Lantern in Justice League Unlimited

So not only were Justice League and Justice League Unlimited great ways for viewers to learn about John Stewart, for a lot of DC fans, he is their main Green Lantern. So it’s about time that this emerald ring-slinger finally makes his live-action debit, although there had been plans for Wayne T. Carr to play the character in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. If Aaron Pierre’s take on Stewart pulls from Phil LaMarr’s version in any significant way, then that will give me one more thing to appreciate from Lanterns.

Pierre will star in Lanterns opposite Kyle Chandler, who’s playing Hal Jordan, the veteran Green Lantern showing rookie John Stewart the ropes. The two protectors of Sector 2814 will be investigating a murder in the American heartland, and this mystery will end up factoring into the main DC Universe storyline. Pierre and Chandler’s Lanterns cast-mates include Kelly McDonald, Garrett Dillahunt and Poorna Jagannathan. Ozark’s Chris Mundy is serving as showrunner and writing alongside Watchmen’s Damon Lindelof and longtime DC Comics writer Tom King, who’s especially pleased with the Hal and John castings.

Lanterns will begin filming in early 2025 and is expected to premiere on HBO around the same time as Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is released in theaters. If you’re looking to enjoy DC Universe-related content now, use your Max subscription to stream Creature Commandos.

After Lanterns Star Aaron Pierre Discussed His Early Introduction To John Stewart, I’m Getting Even More Hopeful About His Take On Green Lantern

Aaron Pierre, known for his role in the hit TV series “Krypton,” recently opened up about his early introduction to the character of John Stewart, also known as Green Lantern. In a recent interview, Pierre shared how he first discovered the character through the Justice League animated series and how he was instantly drawn to the character’s complexity and depth.

As a long-time fan of the Green Lantern comics, I have been eagerly anticipating Pierre’s take on the character. His passion for the role and his understanding of the character’s history and significance in the DC Universe has only increased my excitement for his portrayal.

With Pierre’s dedication to bringing John Stewart to life in a way that honors the character’s legacy while also bringing something fresh and new to the table, I have no doubt that he will do justice to one of DC’s most iconic superheroes.

I can’t wait to see Aaron Pierre shine as Green Lantern on the big screen and bring this beloved character to a whole new generation of fans. Here’s to hoping for an epic and unforgettable portrayal of John Stewart in the upcoming Lanterns movie.

The following player has been placed on the Injured Reserve List:

Avery (5-11, 185) originally entered the NFL after signing with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2022. Throughout his three-year career, Avery has appeared in 38 games (five starts) and registered 54 tackles, 11 passes defensed and one fumble recovery. In 2024, Avery appeared in nine games with the Titans and registered three special teams tackles prior to being waived by the team on December 28, 2024.

A 27-year-old native of Baltimore, MD, Avery attended Rutgers University (2018-21) where he appeared in 35 games and registered 92 tackles, 17 passes defensed, four interceptions, 1.0 sack and one forced fumble.

The San Francisco 49ers have made some roster moves ahead of their matchup against the Detroit Lions this week.

One notable move is placing rookie offensive lineman Aaron Banks on injured reserve. Banks, a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, has been dealing with a shoulder injury and will now be sidelined for at least three weeks.

In Banks’ place, the 49ers have activated defensive back Tatum Bethune from injured reserve. Bethune, who was signed as an undrafted free agent this offseason, provides depth in the secondary for San Francisco.

Additionally, the 49ers have made some other roster moves, including signing linebacker Mychal Kendricks to the practice squad and releasing defensive back Dontae Johnson.

These moves come as the 49ers look to bounce back from a tough season opener and secure their first win of the season against the Lions. Stay tuned for updates on #DETvsSF.

  • 3-round Jets projection with and without Aaron Rodgers’ return

3-round Jets projection with and without Aaron Rodgers’ return

It’s been clear for quite some time that the New York Jets are an abject disaster. Whatever hopes this franchise had of Aaron Rodgers saving them, at least in the 2024 season, have been in the dirt for a long while. What remains unclear looking ahead to the future in 2025 and beyond, however, is if the Jets will elect to run it back with Rodgers, especially with the quarterback showing marked improvement down the final stretch of this season.

Rodgers presents a fascinating conundrum for the Jets. The organization has succumbed to many of his whims since his arrival prior to the 2023 campaign, including instituting a regime change that now has New York searching for a new head coach and general manager. Do they want a clean break from that with the new regime, whoever they may be, or do they want one more shot?

We don’t have a definitive answer to that question, so it’s worth considering what the offseason, the 2025 NFL Draft in particular, could look like for the Jets both with and without Rodgers returning. The process could be quite different, so let’s dive into both scenarios with a 3-round mock draft projection for New York for Rodgers’ return and for a post-Rodgers roster.

Round 1: Luther Burden III, WR, Missouri

If Rodgers returns to New York, I fully expect the Jets process to be centered around the franchise still catering to the multi-time MVP at quarterback. So that starts in the first round. While offensive tackle would perhaps be the bigger need given the age of Morgan Moses and Tyron Smith as stopgap options, there’s a chance the top two players at the position are gone. Even if they aren’t, though, adding a player like Mizzou wideout Luther Burden III feels more the speed of helping QB1 out.

With Garrett Wilson rumblings suggesting a potential discourse about the incumbent receiver’s future in New York already, the Jets could direly need another high-end pass-catcher, especially with concerns around Davante Adams’ age being valid at this point. No matter what, though, Burden is a can’t-pass-up type of prospect. While his size isn’t elite, his ability as a route-runner and weapon after the catch make him a potential 1A or 1B option for any passing offense.

Round 2: Grey Zabel, OT, North Dakota State

Back in Round 2, that’s when the Jets can then turn their attention to the offensive line, specifically at a player like Grey Zabel in this case. Ideally, someone like West Virginia’s Wyatt Milum would fall to New York early on Day 2 but that’s not something they can bank on.

Zabel showed a ton of potential at NDSU and, more importantly, appears to check the boxes for size and movement skills that you might worry about with an FCS prospect making the jump. If there is a learning curve, though, bringing back Moses or Smith as a veteran stopgap could ultimately give Zabel the necessary runway to get up to speed (and size) needed in the NFL and be a long-term protector with Olu Fashanu as bookends.

Round 3 (via DET): Josaiah Stewart, EDGE, Michigan

While first-round prospects Mason Graham and Will Johnson get most of the love as Michigan draft prospects, don’t sleep on Josaiah Stewart either. He registered nine sacks for the Wolverines this past season. That’s impressive in its own right, to be sure, but the PFF metrics ($) show that he’s even more disruptive with a pass rush grade over 92 on the 2024 season.

The Haason Reddick trade was a whiff of epic proportions for the Jets given that he didn’t play for more than half the season, but he’s also set to hit free agency this offseason. Getting younger on the defense and on the edge in particular could be of great benefit to New York in the immediate and in the long-term alike.

Round 1: Kelvin Banks Jr., OT, Texas

This starts with the idea that the new regime would move on from Rodgers, either by way of a trade or even an outright (albeit costly) release this offseason. If that happens, Jets fans would hopefully be set to witness a wholesale infrastructural change in how the team would do business. So that would then mean that the organization would be best served by taking care of the dirty work. That then turns the attention to a player like Kelvin Banks Jr. at tackle.

After taking Fashanu in the first round of last year’s draft, doubling up would be wise. As mentioned, they need to get younger at the position and, while most places have Will Campbell ranked ahead of Banks, the Texas product is my favorite tackle prospect in the 2025 draft. He’s allowed just two sacks and two hits across more than 1,700 snaps in the past two seasons and could give the Jets and whoever they bring in at quarterback — they likely won’t be in range to get a worthwhile option in the draft — elite, young protection on either side.

Round 2: Princely Umanmielen, EDGE, Ole Miss

No matter if Rodgers comes back or not, the Jets’ point when it comes to replacing Reddick and getting younger on defense still stands, but the absence of the veteran quarterback may afford New York a better opportunity to get a more premium player at edge rusher than if they were more inclined to help Rodgers out directly by drafting a wide receiver in the Top 50 picks. Thus, welcome to the Big Apple, Princely Umanmielen.

After transferring to Ole Miss from Florida this past season, Umanmielen truly broke out, notching an impressive 11 sacks for the Rebels and emerging as a true force for the defense. Moreover, he stands out with a 6-foot-4, 255-pound frame with plus athleticism as a player who can succeed with his pass rush at the pro level but also has the ability to hold up consistently against the run. That’s the type of upside the Jets should be salivating over.

Round 3 (via DET): Jaylin Noel, WR, Iowa State

Because of the Adams trade, the Jets don’t have their own third-rounder but do have the Lions’, which we didn’t mention before. That could potentially take them out of range of some more attractive wide receiver options that they need to add. Then again, Jaylin Noel is already on my short list of the most underrated players in the 2025 draft — and not just at receiver.

While he isn’t a big body at 5-foot-11, he has a strong frame that shows up with a 45.5% win rate in contested catch situations this past year for the Cyclones. He isn’t an elite athlete but he shows the requisite speed and quickness to get open at the next level. What amplifies that is some smooth, clean and twitchy route-running that gets him the space he needs with extremely strong hands. Pairing him with Adams and Wilson or in a WR2 role even would be worth it for the next Jets quarterback to have more options at his disposal.

    With Aaron Rodgers’ return:

Round 1: The Jets select offensive lineman Evan Neal from Alabama to bolster their offensive line and protect Rodgers.

Round 2: The Jets address their need for a playmaking wide receiver by drafting Chris Olave from Ohio State.

Round 3: With their third-round pick, the Jets add depth to their defense by selecting cornerback Trent McDuffie from Washington.

    Without Aaron Rodgers’ return:

Round 1: The Jets pivot to draft a quarterback in the first round, selecting Malik Willis from Liberty to be their new franchise quarterback.

Round 2: The Jets continue to build around their new quarterback by selecting offensive lineman Ikem Ekwonu from NC State to protect him.

Round 3: The Jets add a versatile playmaker to their offense by drafting running back Kenneth Walker III from Michigan State.

  • Packers arrive to play Vikings bearing QB history featuring Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers

Packers arrive to play Vikings bearing QB history featuring Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers

The Rodgers documentary provides an amazing reminder of the Favre machinations that took place in 2008. Clearly depressed by playing poorly and losing to the New York Giants in the NFC title game at a frigid Lambeau in January, Favre announced his retirement at an emotional news conference in March.

Rodgers, grabbed by the Packers after he tumbled to 24th overall in the 2005 draft, would be done sitting after three seasons. Then came rumbling from Mississippi that Favre was having second thoughts. Then, here came Brett flying into Green Bay, a crowd at the airport cheering madly, a crowd as Favre approached Packers headquarters, telling the team he wasn’t done.

The shake of the head you get from Rodgers in “Enigma” when asked to look back at Favre creating that disruption — well, he looked like a guy wishing he knew about ayahuasca back then.

The Packers stuck with the Rodgers plan, and Favre was traded to the New York Jets with unhappy results. Fifteen years later, these two all-timers will have that to share when bumping into one another.

There is a brief segment that was taped when Rodgers visited Favre at his home in Mississippi in 2018. Brett tries to explain away the quotes from 2005 about it not being his job to mentor a young quarterback. The smirk on Rodgers’ face sitting across from Favre 13 years later told more than his few words on that subject.

Later, they are seen walking toward some water behind Favre’s house and Brett is saying there haven’t been two quarterbacks to follow one another on a team like them — other than Joe Montana and Steve Young in San Francisco.

The Green Bay Packers arrived in Minnesota to take on the Vikings, bringing with them a rich history of quarterback talent in Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers.

Favre, a future Hall of Famer, spent 16 seasons with the Packers and became one of the most beloved and iconic players in franchise history. He led the team to a Super Bowl victory in 1996 and set numerous records during his time in Green Bay.

After Favre’s departure, Rodgers stepped in as the team’s new quarterback and quickly established himself as one of the best in the game. He has won multiple MVP awards, led the Packers to another Super Bowl victory in 2010, and continues to put up impressive numbers year after year.

As the Packers prepare to face the Vikings, fans can’t help but reminisce about the greatness of Favre and marvel at the continued excellence of Rodgers. It’s a quarterback legacy that will be remembered for generations to come.

  • Garrett Wilson could request trade if Aaron Rodgers remains Jets quarterback, per report

Garrett Wilson could request trade if Aaron Rodgers remains Jets quarterback, per report

There are a lot of question marks regarding the New York Jets heading into the offseason, after a lackluster year that involved the firing of head coach Robert Saleh, moving on from general manager Joe Douglas and rumors that quarterback Aaron Rodgers could be gone after this year.

Rodgers and the Jets had high hopes heading into 2024, but as the season wraps up, it’s clear their current formula does not equate to a winning club. New York stands at 4-11 and the chemistry the offense was expected to have has not come to fruition.

One storyline from their offense that has been ongoing since training camp is Rodgers’ relationship with wide receiver Garrett Wilson. According to NFL Network, if Rodgers remains the team’s QB in 2025, Wilson may request a trade.

Wilson was asked about Rodgers’ future last month and said he would like to have him back, calling it an “honor” to play with him.

“I know whatever decision he makes, I’m gonna support him,” Wilson said on The Zach Gelb Show. “And all the guys feel the same.  We’re gonna support him. To play as long as he has and achieve the things he has is no easy feat, man. We’re all honored to play with him these last two years. Regardless, it’s been a great career for him, and he knows how I feel. I’d love to have him back. But at the end of the day, he’s got to do what’s best for him.”

Things change quickly in the NFL and Wilson’s stance on wanting Rodgers as his QB may be different now.

Wilson currently leads the team 987 yards, 268 yards more than Davante Adams, who made his Jets debut on Oct. 20. Adams and Wilson both lead the team with six touchdowns.

Rodgers’ push to bring Adams, his former Green Bay Packers teammate, into the offense could be one of many reasons Wilson has these reported frustrations with his role on the team. Bringing in the six-time Pro Bowler bumped Wilson’s status on the offense and may be feeling like he’s not being fed the ball even when he’s open, given Rodgers prior relationship with Adams.

Even before Adams arrived, things weren’t all sunshines and rainbows between Rodgers and Wilson. During training camp, the two were seen having a heated disagreement on the sideline.

Here’s a reminder of the conversation:

The two brushed off the exchange at the time, saying it was just them trying to get on the same page, but many suggested that Wilson could be frustrated by Rodgers’ absence for some of the offseason program.

If the Jets were looking at a ticket to the playoffs, we could be having a different conversation when it comes to Wilson’s future. The team’s struggles, paired with some previous reasons he could be frustrated with Rodgers, make it unsurprising that he could be looking to switch squads.

Rodgers has yet to make a decision about his future and he’s considered a long shot to be the Jets QB in 2025, according to reports. The 40-year-old has said he will wait to see what happens and said in November that staying where he is would be his “first choice.”

Adams’ future is also uncertain and said part of his decision will be on what Rodgers does

Many teams would be interested in adding a star wide receiver, including the New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns and Indianapolis Colts

Garrett Wilson could request trade if Aaron Rodgers remains Jets quarterback, per report

There have been rumblings in the NFL world that star wide receiver Garrett Wilson could potentially request a trade if Aaron Rodgers ends up being the starting quarterback for the New York Jets.

According to sources close to Wilson, the talented receiver is not keen on playing with Rodgers due to past issues between the two during their time together on the Ohio State Buckeyes team.

Wilson, who is seen as a rising star in the league, is reportedly not interested in being part of any drama or tension that could arise if Rodgers were to join the Jets.

While nothing has been confirmed yet, this rumor has certainly sparked a lot of speculation among fans and analysts alike. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.

  • If Aaron Rodgers returns to Jets, Garrett Wilson might want out

If Aaron Rodgers returns to Jets, Garrett Wilson might want out

It’s becoming increasingly unlikely that the Jets will bring back quarterback Aaron Rodgers for another year, especially since he continues to needle owner Woody Johnson.

There’s another reason for the Jets to move on. If Rodgers returns, receiver Garrett Wilson could be looking for a way out.

Via Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Wilson could ask for a trade if Rodgers comes back.

The 2022 NFL offensive rookie of the year, Wilson is eligible for a new contract after the current season.

Rodgers and Wilson reportedly had a “blowup” during camp. The receiver’s numbers haven’t been out of whack in comparison to his first two seasons, despite the arrival of Rodgers BFF Davante Adams. For the year, Wilson has been targeted 141 times, with 90 catches for 987 yards and six touchdowns.

Of course, during Wilson’s first two seasons, the quarterback wasn’t one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.

So, yes, Wilson arguably should be getting more. His talent is undeniable. With Rodgers as the quarterback, it’s more complicated than that.

For the Jets, it’s not that complicated. A new G.M. and a new coach should be inclined to move on from the move that brought down their predecessors. Even if the new regime wants Rodgers, Woody (and/or his teenage sons) might not.

And even if the Jets want Rodgers, he might not want to return to a place that has been characterized by leaks. With the latest one being a direct shot at Rodgers.

If Aaron Rodgers returns to the New York Jets, it could have major implications for wide receiver Garrett Wilson. Wilson, who is projected to be a top pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, may reconsider his future with the team if Rodgers becomes the starting quarterback.

Rodgers, a future Hall of Famer and Super Bowl champion, would undoubtedly bring a level of credibility and success to the Jets that they have been lacking in recent years. This could be enticing for Wilson, who is looking to join a team with a strong quarterback presence and a chance to win.

However, if Rodgers were to join the Jets, it could also mean that Wilson would have to wait longer to see playing time and establish chemistry with the new quarterback. This uncertainty could lead Wilson to explore other options and potentially request a trade to a team where he can have an immediate impact.

Ultimately, the decision of whether to stay with the Jets or seek opportunities elsewhere will be up to Wilson. But if Rodgers does return to the Jets, it could certainly shake up the young receiver’s plans for the future.

  • Former Packers Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams approaching NFL milestones to end 2024 season

Former Packers Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams approaching NFL milestones to end 2024 season

The Green Bay Packers have a lot to play for in terms of the postseason to end 2024, but two former franchise greats are chasing NFL milestones over the final two games of the season.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers and receiver Davante Adams — now with the New York Jets — can hit special marks to finish 2024.

The Jets, who are 4-11 and eliminated from postseason contention, end the season with a road game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday and a home game against the Miami Dolphins next Sunday.

Rodgers has 499 career touchdown passes and is one away from becoming the fifth quarterback in NFL history to 500 touchdown passes. Rodgers, a future Pro Football Hall of Famer, threw 475 of his career touchdown passes with the Packers.

QBs with 500 career TD passes

    1. Tom Brady, 649
    2. Drew Brees, 571
    3. Peyton Manning, 539
    4. Brett Favre, 508

Per the NFL, Rodgers can join Manning as the only quarterbacks in NFL history to throw 500 touchdown passes in under 250 career games. Sunday against the Buffalo Bills will be Rodgers’ 247th career game. Manning needed 244.

Rodgers and Adams are also approaching history as a TD-creating duo. The two are entering Week 17 with 82 career touchdown connections, including the postseason, which is tied for the third most in NFL history. With one more, Rodgers and Adams will pass Dan Marino and Mark Clayton for third place all-time behind only Manning and Marvin Harrison (114) and Steve Young and Jerry Rice (92).

    QB-WR touchdowns, including postseason

    1. Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison: 114
    2. Steve Young and Jerry Rice: 92
    3. Dan Marino and Mark Clayton: 82
    3. Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams: 82
    5. Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown: 78

Rodgers and Adams produced 76 of their 82 touchdown connections while with the Packers between 2014 and 2021.

Adams, a second-round pick of the Packers in 2014, recently caught his 100th career touchdown pass, becoming the 12th player in NFL history with 100 or more touchdown catches. He currently ranks 10th all-time with 102 touchdown catches, trailing only Mike Evans (103) among active players.

Now 41, Rodgers has thrown 24 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions over 15 starts this season. Adams has 56 catches for 719 yards and six touchdowns in nine games since being traded from the Las Vegas Raiders to the Jets.

Both Rodgers and Adams face uncertain futures together in New York post-2024. Rodgers is still determining whether he wants to keep playing in 2025, while both Rodgers and Adams have unsavory and likely untenable cap hits for a team likely to hire a new general manager and head coach after a disastrous 2024 season.

As the 2024 NFL season comes to a close, former Green Bay Packers teammates Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams are both approaching significant milestones in their respective careers.

Rodgers, now playing for the Denver Broncos, is on the verge of reaching 500 career touchdown passes. With his exceptional skill and leadership on the field, Rodgers has proven time and time again why he is considered one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. Reaching this milestone would further solidify his legacy as one of the most prolific passers in NFL history.

Meanwhile, Adams, who now suits up for the Las Vegas Raiders, is closing in on 10,000 career receiving yards. Known for his exceptional route running and sure hands, Adams has been a consistent playmaker throughout his career. Achieving this milestone would be a testament to his hard work and dedication to the game.

As these former teammates continue to excel in their new environments, fans can only marvel at the impressive accomplishments they have achieved thus far. Rodgers and Adams are undoubtedly two of the most talented players in the league, and it will be exciting to see them reach these milestones by the end of the 2024 season.

  • ‘It would be dope’ to catch QB Aaron Rodgers’ 500th career passing touchdown

‘It would be dope’ to catch QB Aaron Rodgers’ 500th career passing touchdown

According to NFL Research, Rodgers and Adams have scored 82 touchdowns and are tied with Dan Marino and Mark Clayton for the third-most TD connections by a QB-WR duo in NFL history, including playoffs. Only Manning and Marvin Harrison (114) and Steve Young and Jerry Rice (92) have connected for more touchdowns.

Adams, who was acquired via trade midseason from the Las Vegas Raiders, became the 12th player to reach 100 career TD catches in a Week 15 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Adams recorded nine catches for 198 receiving yards and two scores to snap New York’s four-game losing streak.

From their eight seasons together in Green Bay and now in New York, Adams is appreciative of Rodgers’ career and praised the 41-year-old along the QB’s 20th season.

“We’ve had some special connections in the past, so it’d be great,” Adams said. “And, obviously, it would be a big, big thing for him. Not that he needs more accolades and more milestones, but you might as well keep racking them up while you can.”

The duo will look to rack up some more touchdowns on Sunday and in the regular season-finale against the Miami Dolphins.

I’m not even a Green Bay Packers fan, but it would be dope to catch QB Aaron Rodgers’ 500th career passing touchdown. The man is a legend on the field and watching him reach this incredible milestone would be a moment to remember. Whether you’re a Packers fan or not, you have to appreciate the talent and skill that Rodgers brings to the game. So here’s to hoping that lucky fan who catches that historic touchdown pass knows just how special of a moment they were a part of. Go Pack go! #AaronRodgers #500thTouchdown #NFLLegends

Gossip mill: Mayday holding free online concert on New Year’s Eve, Zhao Lusi suspends all work, Aaron Kwok falls into stage trapdoor, Entertainment News

Mayday holding free online concert on New Year’s Eve

Taiwanese rock giant Mayday are ending 2024, the 25th anniversary of their debut album, with a bang by holding a free online concert on New Year’s Eve.

The quintet — Monster, Ashin, Stone, Masa and Ming — posted on social media about their Fly to 2025 show with a poem inviting their audience to “open the multiverse of Mayday”.

They will be live at 10.25pm (same time as Singapore) on Dec 31, broadcasting on the YouTube channel of their label B’in Music.

Fans looking to synchronise their lightsticks at home could also download the B’in Music Concert app.

The concert will also be shown at three cinemas, in Taipei, Taichung and Kaohsiung, and free tickets are available today (Dec 28) from noon.

    Zhao Lusi suspends all work

Chinese actress Zhao Lusi had fans worried recently when a photo allegedly of her at the accident and emergency (A&E) department of a hospital made its rounds on social media.

The woman in the photo is in a wheelchair with her head leaning on her shoulder. Though she had a face mask and cap on, netizens claimed her to be Lusi, 26.

Her Weibo account was also shut down without explanation.

Yesterday, her studio posted on Weibo that she had suddenly felt unwell on Dec 18 and went to the hospital for examination and treatment as soon as possible.

“She is currently following the doctor’s advice for treatment and recuperation,” it read.

The post further added that Lusi’s management was going to take her health into primary consideration and suspend all further projects while she recovered.

Aaron Kwok falls into stage trapdoor

Stage trapdoors seem to be intent on eating Hong Kong’s Heavenly Kings this year.

Andy Lau injured his thumb back in September after stepping into one and taking a tumble, and yesterday (Dec 27), it was Aaron Kwok’s turn on the first night of his Iconic World Tour in Taiwan.

Videos circulating on social media show the singer-actor making a heart gesture to his audience after singing his hit song Fen Xiang Ai. He steps back, presumably to get onto the platform that will lower him below the stage, but falls right through.

The 59-year-old took to social media to tell fans that he was okay and that he had fallen after missing a step.

“My microphone hit a steel plate at the edge of the stage and there was a loud noise. The newly-customised mic was slightly scratched but I wasn’t hurt at all,” he reassured.

He added that he had climbed back onto the stage “with ease” and continued singing.

Aaron performs for two more nights in Taipei.
