HOCKLEY COUNTY, Texas (KCBD) – A pursuit involving DPS troopers and Hockley County sheriff’s deputies ended in a crash on Friday afternoon.
DPS says troopers were chasing a Chevrolet Corvette that had been reported stolen out of Wise County when the vehicle crashed near FM 2646 and Alaska Road at 1:08 p.m.
The driver suffered “severe” injuries and was taken to the hospital. The passenger bailed out of the vehicle around FM 2646 and FM 1585.
DPS says the passenger was briefly detained but released without any charges.

On Friday afternoon, a driver suffered severe injuries after a high-speed chase with the Department of Public Safety (DPS) ended in a devastating crash. The pursuit, which began on the highway, resulted in the driver losing control of their vehicle and crashing into a barrier.
The driver, whose identity has not been released, was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries. The DPS has not disclosed the reason for initiating the chase or any further details about the incident.

On Sunday at 5:15 a.m. an updated lakeshore flood warning was issued by the National Weather Service valid from 10 p.m. until Monday 1 p.m. for Erie and Chautauqua counties.
The weather service adds, “Lakeshore flooding expected.”
“The rapid rise in water levels at the eastern end of Lake Erie will result in lakeshore flooding along the Lake Erie shore. Flooding is likely along Route 5 in Hamburg, and might impact the Buffalo Harbor, Canalside, Dunkirk Harbor, and other flood prone locations. Very high wave action will also result in significant shoreline erosion,” describes the weather service. “A Lakeshore Flood Warning means lakeshore flooding is occurring, is imminent, or is expected to occur. For your safety, stay off breakwaters, piers, rock outcroppings and beaches! Waves are often larger than they appear and can easily wash you away. Expect significant beach erosion and debris, local road closures and extremely dangerous boating conditions.”
