“My plan is to start OTAs and start the offseason no restrictions, full go.” Dak Prescott clearly stated his aim for the next year. During the mid-season, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback suffered a hamstring injury which eventually cut him from the 2024 season. As a result, the team also derailed, failing to secure a playoff berth this time. Nevertheless, the $60 million man is optimistic about the future comeback. But the question is: Will he be able to regain his form?

According to the Cowboys’s former QB, Troy Aikman, the fans, Jerry Jones, the team, and Dak Prescott himself need to worry about the 31-year-old’s health. During his radio appearance on ‘1310 The Ticket‘ on Thursday, Aikman emphasized, “I think it’s logical to be concerned just because of the injuries and the injury this year… As you get older, things don’t work as well as they once did. So he’s dealing with that…” So, in his words, Prescott will need more time to heal, and the previous situation is unlikely to come back soon, at least for now.

The now-color commentator further added that Prescott takes great care of himself and does everything possible to stay healthy. However, he pointed out that some injuries are beyond anyone’s control. Like when Dak Prescott broke his ankle—it was a case of sheer bad luck.

He even acknowledged that Prescott’s current injury seems significant, and how he recovers will be crucial. Not only that! The ESPN announcer also suggested that despite any concerns fans or the organization might have, the team has to accept the situation as it stands for now.

So, the question is: What comes next for the team and Dak Prescott? How are coach Mike McCarthy and owner Jerry Jones treating this crucial situation?

Is it over for Dak Prescott?

No doubt Dak Prescott is under dark, looming clouds. His season-ending injury with the age factor and an unexpected 3-5 record in the regular season have worsened the situation. Especially, Prescott’s loss to the Lions with a 9-47 score this season. That might have compelled owner Jerry Jones and head coach Mike McCarthy to ponder over their decision.

Addressing this situation, on the same radio show, Troy Aikman suggested that Mike McCarthy likely has some clarity about Dak Prescott’s future with the team. He remarked, “My guess would be that Mike’s probably got some kind of indication as to whether or not he will be back and that’s been communicated with the staff. So I would think the assistant coaches have a general idea as to what this might look like going forward. At least I hope that they do because otherwise, it’s pandemonium trying to figure out exactly where they might land and be employed a year from now.”

Well, he thinks the HC has also communicated it to his coaching staff. And guess what? He believes that the assistant coaches probably have an idea of what lies ahead. That is crucial for their career planning.

Seems like it’s important to have such clarity. Because, without it, the situation would create chaos and uncertainty in the locker room.
