Preview: Ducks Take Aim at Preds Tonight at Honda Center
From one veteran opponent to another, the Ducks now host a suddenly red-hot Predators team determined to shake off a slow start and climb back into the playoff race. The Preds visit Orange County with wins in five straight games, most recently a pair of high-scoring victories, 6-5 and 7-5, over San Jose in a home-and-home set.
“We’re finding ways to win in games where early in the season, we didn’t,” longtime Nashville winger Filip Forsberg told the team’s Beat Reporter Brooks Bratten. “And certainly the effort is there. But there’s definitely things…we can tighten up, but we’ll take the positive. Excited for the win and get ready for the next game.”
Added head coach Andrew Brunette, “We’re believing. We seem to get tighter as a group every game. We’ve got some things to clean up. We’re still trying to stack some things…I think we’re starting to understand when we do certain things and play a certain way, it’s fun to play, it’s good to play. We’re getting rewarded for it, so we’ll keep chipping away where we are and fight to keep that feeling.”
Nashville was the NHL’s most aggressive team last season, adding free agents Jonathan Marchessault, Steven Stamkos and Brady Skjei on long-term contracts. Stamkos and Marchessault now skate on the club’s top line with Forsberg, and each are among the team’s top-four scoring leaders this season. Stamkos, a two-time champion with Tampa Bay, has scored five goals in his last five games.
The Predators (18-22-7, 43 points) sit seventh in the Central Division, 10 points behind a playoff position.
The Anaheim Ducks are gearing up to face off against the Nashville Predators tonight at the Honda Center. Both teams are coming off of strong performances in their last games and are looking to continue their winning streaks. The Ducks have been on a roll lately, with key players like Trevor Zegras and Troy Terry leading the charge. They will need to bring their A-game against a tough Predators team that boasts a strong defensive lineup and a potent offense.
Meanwhile, the Predators will be looking to capitalize on their recent success and secure another win on the road. With players like Roman Josi and Filip Forsberg leading the charge, the Preds will be a formidable opponent for the Ducks.
This matchup promises to be an exciting and closely contested game, with both teams hungry for a win. Be sure to tune in tonight to see which team comes out on top in this thrilling showdown at the Honda Center.

Timothee Chalamet’s sister Pauline takes aim at Kylie Jenner in heated rant
Timothee Chalamet’s sister Pauline takes aim at Kylie Jenner in heated rant Timothee Chalamet’s sister Pauline Chalamet has seemingly taken aim at Kylie Jenner in a series of scathing social media posts.
The Sex Lives of College Girls actress reposted Bernie Sanders’ scathing tweet about “billionaires” on Instagram.
”When the three wealthiest men in America sit behind Trump at his inauguration, everyone understands that the billionaire class now controls our government,” the outspoken politician.
Alog the post, Pauline wrote, “Our system is so flawed that it allows billionaires to exist and accrue so much money and BARELY pay (and sometimes NOT PAY) ANY ANY ANY TAXES.”
“This should not be possible. Billionaires do not need to exist. Bezos, Musk, Zuckerberg SITTING IN FRONT OF cabinet is NOT DEMOCRATIC. NOT. DEMOCRATIC.” She added.
The now-deleted post seemingly aimed at her younger brother's girlfriend who is one of the most famous billionaires on the planet, as per Forbes in 2019.
Prior to this, Pauline reposted a message by nonprofit organization Move On, which criticized billionaires and CEOs who own private jets.
“If your job requires a college degree, you should be able to write off your student loan payments as a business expense the way CEOs write off their private jets and yachts for their jobs which require neither.”
The post was seen as a dig at Kylie Jenner, who owns a private jet called Kylie Air, and is the CEO of Kylie Cosmetics.
However, it's worth noting that Pauline and Kylie have been seen together on friendly terms in the past, including a warm hug at a Paris fashion event last October.

In a recent Instagram post, Timothee Chalamet's sister, Pauline, took aim at Kylie Jenner in a heated rant. Pauline didn't hold back as she criticized Jenner for promoting unrealistic beauty standards and perpetuating a culture of materialism. Pauline called out Jenner for constantly flaunting her wealth and luxurious lifestyle on social media, claiming that it only serves to further alienate her fans who may not have the same resources. She also accused Jenner of using her platform to promote products that are harmful to young girls' self-esteem, such as waist trainers and lip fillers. The post quickly went viral, with many fans applauding Pauline for speaking out against Jenner's behavior. Some even suggested that Jenner should take a page out of Timothee Chalamet's book and use her platform for more positive and meaningful causes. It remains to be seen whether Jenner will respond to Pauline's criticisms, but one thing is for sure - this feud is far from over. Stay tuned for more updates as this social media showdown unfolds.

January 17, 2025
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has thrown his support behind an explosive investigation by Accuracy in Media that uncovered troubling practices in the Richardson Independent School District. An undercover video released Thursday by AIM revealed a school administrator discussing how biological male students could be allowed to room with female classmates on school trips, despite state laws and widespread parental concerns.
Abbott reshared the video on X, formerly known as Twitter, and used the opportunity to outline his legislative agenda to root out diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in Texas schools.
“Last session, we banned DEI in higher education and cut funding for any DEI positions,” Abbott stated. “This session, we will ban DEI in K-12 grades and cut funding. No taxpayer dollars will be used to fund DEI in our schools. Schools must focus on fundamentals of education, not indoctrination.”
State Rep. Brent Money also praised the investigation, taking aim at the financial priorities of districts that fund DEI positions while asking for more taxpayer dollars.
“Almost every superintendent I meet claims to need more taxpayer funding,” Money said. “Here’s a hack for school board members and superintendents: If you have a ‘DEI administrator,’ particularly one making six figures like this one, your district is either overfunded or mismanaged—or both.”
The AIM investigation is part of the organization’s ongoing efforts to expose radical ideologies, such as DEI and critical race theory, in school systems across the country. AIM continues to be a leading advocate for school choice, arguing that empowering parents and promoting competition is the best way to counter the indoctrination taking place in public schools.
“This investigation is yet another example of why universal school choice is necessary,” an AIM spokesperson said. “It’s time to put control of education back into the hands of parents and out of the grasp of ideologues.”
With Abbott and other state leaders pledging to crack down on DEI and similar programs, AIM’s work is gaining significant traction and raising the stakes in the fight for education reform.

In a recent statement, Gov. Greg Abbott has reacted to an investigation by American Investigative Media (AIM) that uncovered the implementation of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies in Texas schools. The investigation highlighted concerns about the influence of these policies on curriculum, hiring practices, and student activities.Abbott condemned the adoption of DEI policies in schools, stating that they promote a divisive and discriminatory environment that goes against the values of equality and fairness. He emphasized the importance of focusing on academic excellence and meritocracy in education, rather than promoting identity politics and group-based ideologies.
The governor called for a review of all DEI initiatives in Texas schools and vowed to take action to ensure that students are not subjected to biased and divisive teachings. He urged school districts to prioritize academic achievement and critical thinking skills, rather than pushing a political agenda that divides students based on their race, gender, or other characteristics.
Abbott’s strong stance against DEI policies in schools has sparked a debate about the role of diversity and inclusion in education. Supporters argue that DEI initiatives are necessary to address systemic inequalities and promote a more inclusive learning environment, while critics believe that such policies are divisive and promote a victim mentality.
As the debate continues, it remains to be seen how Abbott’s condemnation of DEI policies will impact education in Texas and beyond. Stay tuned for further developments on this controversial issue.

#Gov #Greg #Abbott #reacts #AIM #investigation #condemns #DEI #policies #schoolsPitt Take 5: Panthers aim to end current 3-game skid as well as 12-game streak vs. Clemson
Pitt’s current three-game slump could be seen as a harbinger of a season on the verge of running off the rails, with margin for error having decreased significantly.
After all, the Panthers have not lost this many ACC games in a row since 2021-22, en route to an 11-21 overall finish in coach Jeff Capel’s fourth year at the helm.
There are 14 conference games remaining for the Panthers (12-5, 3-3).
Further putting Pitt’s skid into perspective is a 9-5 finish to league play would have the Panthers at 21-10 (12-8) heading into the ACC Tournament.
Last season, Pitt was excluded from the NCAA Tournament despite going 22-11, with its fate being partly determined by a league tournament semifinals loss to North Carolina that neutralized a potential late-season push into the March Madness field.
Needing to get back in the win column, Pitt returns home to Petersen Events Center on Saturday for a showdown with Clemson (14-4, 6-1), third in the conference.
Here are five storylines ahead of that matchup:
1. Solving the Tigers
If historical precedent counts for anything, Clemson is among the worst opponents Pitt could have drawn for an important midseason game.
Heading into tipoff at noon Saturday, the Panthers ride a 12-game losing streak against the Tigers that dates to January 2015.
Not since March 8, 2014, has Pitt beaten Clemson.
Granted, since 2022-23, when Capel turned around the Panthers program and led it to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2016, Pitt has played Clemson more competitively.
But the overall effort hasn’t been sufficient to end a losing streak that long predates Capel’s arrival in Oakland.
2. Beware of the 3
If Saturday’s game comes down to one battle, it may be Pitt’s perimeter defense vs. Clemson’s 3-point shooters.
The Tigers feature the best 3-point-shooting offense in the ACC, with a 38.1% conversion rate.
In terms of neutralizing opponents from beyond the arc, Pitt ranks seventh leaguewide with a 32.0% team defense.
Sixth-year senior guard Chase Hunter leads Clemson with 17.4 points per game.
His 3-point percentage of 44.6% (107 of 216) also paces the Tigers and ranks first in the ACC.
Part of limiting Clemson’s 3-point attack will come down low in preventing second-chance opportunities.
In that department, Pitt could use a reset, as the Panthers are two games removed from allowing a season-high 17 offensive boards to Louisville on Jan 11.
Eager to snag missed shots off the glass will be Clemson’s Ian Schieffelin; the 6-foot-8 senior forward ranks second in the ACC with 10.0 boards per game.
3. Success at the line
Pitt leads the ACC in free-throw percentage at 79.0%.
Clemson is second at 78.4%.
Hunter has been the Tigers’ sharpest shooter at the charity stripe, as he’s hitting 90.2% (55 of 61) of his tries.
The Panthers’ Jaland Lowe (86 of 95) has made 90.5% of his free throws, and big man Zack Austin is at 89.5% (34 of 38).
While it wasn’t enough to lift them to wins over Florida State and Louisville recently, the Panthers posted identical 90.9% make rates (20 of 22) from the free-throw line in their last two contests.
4. Limiting turnovers
So far, Lowe has enjoyed a solid sophomore campaign, stepping into the starting point guard’s shoes and shouldering a large load.
No Pitt player averages more minutes (35.1), and Lowe also leads the team in points (17.5).
Against Florida State, Lowe shot 50% from the floor and scored 22 points. But he also committed a career-high eight turnovers.
Lowe’s ball-security woes were emblematic of the team’s, evidenced by a season-high 17 turnovers against the Seminoles.
Pitt is averaging 10.6 turnovers on the season.
5. Eyes on the NET
Clemson arrives in Oakland in a slightly inferior position to Pitt looking at the NET rankings.
The Tigers are ranked 36th, with Pitt coming in 31st.
Thus, for Clemson, Saturday represents a chance at a Quad 1 victory. If Pitt manages to snap its 12-game, decade-long losing streak vs. the Tigers, a Quad 2 win would be part of the reward.
Heading into this weekend, Pitt’s NET ranking is third among all ACC programs, behind only Duke (No. 2) and Louisville (No. 28).

The Pitt Panthers are gearing up to face off against the Clemson Tigers in a crucial ACC showdown. As the Panthers look to put an end to their current three-game losing streak, they also have their sights set on snapping a 12-game losing streak against Clemson.Pitt has had a tough stretch of games recently, but they are determined to turn things around and get back in the win column. With a strong team and a resilient mindset, the Panthers are ready to take on the challenge of facing off against Clemson.
The Tigers, on the other hand, are coming off a big win and will be looking to continue their dominance over Pitt. However, the Panthers are not backing down and are prepared to give it their all in order to secure a much-needed victory.
Fans can expect an intense and competitive game as Pitt looks to break their losing streak and finally come out on top against Clemson. Stay tuned as the Panthers take the court and aim to make a statement in this highly anticipated matchup. #H2P #PantherPride #BeatClemson

Mirra Andreeva is the first to admit that she isn’t the easiest player to work with — and coach Conchita Martínez can attest to this.
“I just can be a little pain in the ass sometimes,” the 17-year-old told press during her run to the Brisbane semifinals two weeks ago. “I’m still a kid sometimes. I can get angry.”
And if it’s not moodiness, it’s chattiness.
“I feel very comfortable telling her everything that happens in my life,” Andreeva said in Melbourne ahead of the Australian Open. “I don’t know if she wants to hear it, though! But I’m very comfortable sharing with her everything that’s going on.”
That’s a reflection of the trust Andreeva and Martínez have in each other, something that’s underpinned the success of their partnership to date. Andreeva enjoys hearing Martínez’s tales from her time on tour “a long, long time ago,” and jokes that the former Wimbledon champion’s advice to her at SW19 was clearly “bad” given Andreeva’s first-round loss there last year.
Australian Open: Scores | Schedule | Draws
“We let ourselves joke around and have some fun,” Andreeva said. “Of course she’s very professional, she knows when the fun is over and when we need to really put the work in, for example, in a tennis court. When we’re off the tennis court, we can have some fun, but of course we also need to take it serious sometimes.”
Somewhere in between fun and serious are Andreeva’s superstitious tendencies. After defeating Marie Bouzkova 6-3, 6-3, in the Australian Open first round, the teenager revealed another difficult character trait.
“It’s pretty complicated to work with me, because if I start the tournament eating chicken and rice, well, I cannot change after,” she said. “I cannot take pasta or I cannot take anything else. I will always take chicken and rice. If I start like this, I’ve got to continue like this. Even if I’m tired, I have no choice, but I have to eat it.”
Andreeva’s rigidity even extends to her on-court snacks.
“Today I start with dried fruits, so it is dried fruits for Melbourne this year,” she said.
It’s all got to much for Martínez, who tried to put her foot down in the off-season. Before traveling to Australia, coach and player agreed that in 2025, there would be no more superstitious eating.
Judging from Andreeva’s comments, this hasn’t been a successful goal for her so far. But she’s not the only one letting the side down. In Brisbane, Martínez prepared Andreeva’s recovery shakes after each match. The first time she did so, she spilled the powder on the players desk — so after every match she won, Martínez would ritualistically return to the same desk to spill more powder.
“I didn’t know about this,” Andreeva said. “The girl from the players desk, she told me. I was, like, ‘OK, but you told me we stop this and you do it by yourself.’ So I guess the moment to stop it is not here yet. We’re going to continue. Maybe next year we try to avoid it. But not for now.”
The pair may have had to admit defeat on the superstition front, but it’s a rare one for Andreeva at the moment. At a career high of No.15 this week, she’s no longer the new kid on the block. The novelty factor has worn off, and it’s been replaced by the confidence of a real challenger.
“Even before, when I was playing Roland Garros and Wimbledon in 2024, I was still trying to prove people that I belong here, I’m going to play with you, and this is my place,” Andreeva said.
“Now, I feel like everyone already knows that. I also feel like I’m a WTA player, so I’m here, I’m doing my job, and I like what I’m doing. I feel like yes, now I do belong here at the end.”
In a world filled with superstitions and old wives’ tales, it can be easy to fall into the trap of believing in things that have no basis in reality. However, two unlikely heroes have emerged to challenge these superstitious ways with humor and trust.Andreeva and Martínez, a dynamic duo with a penchant for debunking myths and bringing a dose of reality to the world, are on a mission to rid society of its irrational fears and beliefs. With their quick wit and playful banter, they aim to show people that superstitions are nothing more than silly notions that hold no power over us.
Through their comedic sketches and informative videos, Andreeva and Martínez tackle a wide range of superstitions, from avoiding black cats to walking under ladders. They use humor to disarm the fears that these beliefs instill in people, showing them that there is nothing to be afraid of.
But it’s not just about poking fun at superstitions – Andreeva and Martínez also emphasize the importance of trust in oneself and in the world around us. By fostering a sense of trust in our own abilities and in the people and things we encounter, they believe that we can overcome the irrational fears that hold us back.
So, if you find yourself knocking on wood or avoiding cracks in the sidewalk, take a lesson from Andreeva and Martínez. With humor and trust, they are on a mission to fix superstitious ways and help us all live a little more freely and confidently.
