  • Who Will Win Best New Artist, Best Album?

    The Nominees
André 3000 – New Blue Sun
    Beyoncé – Cowboy Carter
Sabrina Carpenter – Short n’ Sweet
    Charli XCX – Brat
Jacob Collier – Djesse Vol. 4
Billie Eilish – Hit Me Hard and Soft
Chappell Roan – The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess
Taylor Swift – The Tortured Poets Department

    The Lowdown
This has been a strong year for albums as albums, and not just as collections of songs designed to support a single or two: Both Beyoncé and Taylor Swift lived up to that ideal. They’re hardly the only ones, though. Few artists epitomize that like Chappell Roan, whose debut full-length, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, has been a bottomless gold mine of vibrant, deeply felt pop. “‘Good Luck, Babe!’ was the song that finally propelled her,” says Spotify’s Talia Kraines, senior editor of pop, “but it’s been truly fascinating to watch everybody really dig into her catalog — nearly the entire album is in the Spotify Top 200.”

Elsewhere, Billie Eilish’s sharply drawn, yet tenderly felt Hit Me Hard and Soft, says Kraines, “was really her being a twentysomething instead of a teenager — it was incredibly relatable despite her being one of the most famous people in the world.” Charli XCX’s Brat introduced her as a solo artist to a whole new audience while staying true to her future-pop ideals. “We’ve always known she had it in her,” says Kraines. But don’t overlook the unbridled artistry of André 3000’s flute adventure New Blue Sun, just the kind of eclectic release Grammy voters often like to reward.

    Who Should Win
    Beyoncé – Cowboy Carter
Beyoncé is the winningest artist in Grammy Awards history — but somehow has never won Album of the Year. Cowboy Carter could fix that: It’s an important history lesson about Black contributions to American music, as well as an introduction to the next generation of Black country music. “Uplifting other Black female country artists, and creating important conversations that needed to happen, is so important,” says Kraines. That the album is stuffed with indelible tracks like the slick “Bodyguard,” and the sweetly supportive Miley Cyrus duet “II Most Wanted” makes it a contender, too. “The two things stand side by side: the cultural piece and the excellent album,” she says.

    Who Will Win
Taylor Swift – The Tortured Poets Department

Can anyone stop Swift’s momentum, especially since she announced The Tortured Poets Department at the 2024 Grammy Awards? “Obviously, the impact of the Eras Tour is hard to ignore, and obviously The Tortured Poets Department has been huge,” Kraines says. “Her whole catalog still continues to stream like crazy, and when she added the new album’s section [to her show], that gave it another boost.” TTPD was produced by Jack Antonoff, who’s currently on a three-year winning streak for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical, and that should help Swift’s case — as well as the hysteria she created on her Eras Tour, which wrapped in December.

The Grammy Awards are just around the corner and music fans are buzzing with excitement over who will take home the coveted awards for Best New Artist and Best Album. With so many talented artists and incredible albums released this year, the competition is fierce.

Will breakout stars like Olivia Rodrigo or Saweetie take home the Best New Artist award, or will a dark horse contender surprise us all? And in the Best Album category, will industry heavyweights like Taylor Swift or Kanye West reign supreme, or will a newcomer steal the spotlight?

Join the debate and share your predictions for who will win Best New Artist and Best Album at this year’s Grammy Awards! #Grammys #BestNewArtist #BestAlbum

  • Album of the Year 2025 Grammys Poll: Who Should Win?

When 2024 turned out to be one of the most densely packed years for pop music releases in recent memory, it was a given that the following year’s Grammys would be extremely competitive. But as the days close in on Sunday’s ceremony, the face-off is starting to feel more and more contentious — especially in the album of the year category.

In 2025, some of pop’s most established titans are squaring off against breakout newcomers and tastemakers in the category, with no clear front-runner to speak of. For starters, last year’s winner Taylor Swift returns to the fold in 2024, this time with her 17-week Billboard 200-topper The Tortured Poets Department. If the prize was awarded based on sales, the Eras Tour headliner would have it in the bag, having recorded the second-highest first-week numbers in history — 2,610,000 units, to be exact — with her sprawling 11th studio record the in April last year. She’s also the reigning AOTY winner, taking home the award a record fourth time in 2024 for the year prior’s Midnights.

But Beyoncé is also in the race for the fifth time in her career, this time thanks to Cowboy Carter. Some people think that the critical acclaim of the country-bending, genre-exploring LP — which features all-star cameos from Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Post Malone, Miley Cyrus and more greats — might be the project to finally get the “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer that AOTY honor, which would become the crown jewel of her already record-high Grammy count (32 total).

But three of last summer’s most talked-about ladies also share the category with Bey and Tay: Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan and Charli XCX. All three women ruled the charts last year with their respective projects, with Short n’ Sweet, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess and Brat, respectively, all spawning year-defining viral hits and turning their creators into superstars.

And those are just a few of the heavyweights included in this year’s album of the year category, which will also see Grammy darling Billie Eilish‘s Hit Me Hard and Soft face off against André 3000‘s New Blue Sun and Jacob Collier‘s Djesse Vol. 4. Opinions about who should actually take home the coveted gramophone are rampant, but only Recording Academy voters can decide the fate of the nominees.

Except for here, where your voice is the one that matters: Tell Billboard which project you hope to see win album of the year at the 2025 Grammys by casting your vote in the poll below.

With the 2025 Grammys just around the corner, music lovers are eagerly anticipating the announcement of the Album of the Year winner. This year, the competition is fierce with so many talented artists releasing incredible albums.

We want to hear from you – who do you think should win Album of the Year at the 2025 Grammys? Is it the chart-topping pop sensation, the critically acclaimed indie darling, or the groundbreaking newcomer who has taken the music world by storm?

Cast your vote in our poll and let us know who you think deserves to take home the coveted Album of the Year award. Stay tuned for the Grammys ceremony to see if your favorite artist comes out on top! #Grammys2025 #AlbumoftheYear #MusicPoll

I’m The Problem comes as Wallen’s preceding projects, Dangerous: The Double Album and One Thing At A Time, landed No. 1 and No. 6 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums of the 21st Century, respectively, following their blockbuster success. “I’m The Problem” follows Wallen’s latest, “Smile,” which reached No. 4 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart and was lauded by Good Morning America “a moody heartbreak number.” Previous release “Lies Lies Lies” became Wallen’s 16th No. 1 at Country radio, while “Love Somebody” became Wallen’s first solo song to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. “Love Somebody” debuted on 11 charts globally upon release and led Wallen to become the first artist to have three singles each sit atop the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts simultaneously.

    About Morgan Wallen

Dubbed Country’s “dominant superstar” by Stereogum with more than 3.1 million fans attending his One Night At A Time World Tour, the genre’s highest-selling tour ever, two-time 2025 GRAMMY nominee Morgan Wallen is entering 2025 with a refreshed setlist at hand, releasing new music, and preparing to headline his I’m The Problem Tour beginning June 20 in Houston, Texas. Before the tour kicks off, Wallen’s all-genre Sand In My Boots Music Festival, which sold out in less than 2 hours, hits Gulf Shores, Alabama in May.

With both Dangerous: The Double Album and One Thing At A Time checking in at No. 1 and 6 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums of the 21st Century, respectively, Wallen’s reign atop the charts has landed him 19 Billboard Music Awards to-date in just four years. The instant success of One Thing At A Time left The New York Times proclaiming Wallen as “one of the biggest stars in pop, period.” Recent release “Love Somebody” debuted at No. 1 globally across five countries and 11 charts, leading Wallen to become the first artist to have three singles sit atop the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts simultaneously.

    About Brooks & Dunn

Once artists like Brooks & Dunn hit the Country Music Hall of Fame, folks don’t expect much in the way of new ideas. But, thirty-plus years into their career, Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn long ago dialed in their generation-defining sound and style. The best-selling duo of all time, their yin-and-yang country-rock blend has earned them 20 Number Ones – plenty of material to fill stadium-rocking set lists. And with a Grammy-winning, course-of-history shifting catalog written mostly themselves, they could rest easy knowing without doubt they left a permanent mark on the American songbook. But Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn have always been the restless type. Out now via Sony Music Nashville, REBOOT II is the sequel to their acclaimed 2019 album REBOOT and follows the same format of giving today’s most engaging artists in and out of country music the near-impossible task of reimagining an iconic Brooks & Dunn song; except this time, the artists were given maximum creative freedom. With styles ranging from progressive country and classic bluegrass to heavy metal, orchestral pop, and beyond, the very fabric of songs most country fans know by heart was transformed. Whether it was ‘90s grunge, ‘70s style studio rock, or swampy soul, the duo encouraged each artist to throw out the playbook. REBOOT II’s 18 tracks include reinterpreted hits such as “Neon Moon,” “Boot Scootin’ Boogie,” and “Believe,” resulting in a dynamic and eclectic collection that spans genres and generations. Brooks & Dunn continue to break records, tallying the longest-running country music residency in Las Vegas, and criss-cross North America year after year on their sold-out tours. They recently announced 2025 dates for the first leg of their NEON MOON TOUR; for a full list of upcoming tour dates and to purchase tickets, visit www.brooks-dunn.com.

    About Miranda Lambert
Critically acclaimed groundbreaker/songwriter/superstar Miranda Lambert has defined her multi-faceted career as an artist, entertainer, entrepreneur, advocate and businesswoman with an unflinching quest for excellence, honesty and conviction. With her 10th solo studio album, Postcards from Texas, available everywhere now via Republic Records, the most-awarded artist in Academy of Country Music history, including their top honor for Entertainer of the Year, has also won three GRAMMYs and 14 Country Music Association Awards. A TIME100 honoree and perennial best-of-the-year list maker at the New York Times, TIME, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Stereogum, People and more, NPR has called her “the most riveting country star of her generation.”

A multi-dimensional superstar, she’s earned seven No. 1 solo albums, 10 No. 1 hit radio singles, more than 80 prestigious awards and countless RIAA certifications; conquered Las Vegas with her twice-extended Velvet Rodeo residency; blurred genres with Leon Bridges, the B-52s, Loretta Lynn, Enrique Iglesias, Sheryl Crow and Elle King; and delivered her LGBTQ+ inclusive anthem “Y’All Means All” for Netflix’s “Queer Eye.” Lambert has taken those standards to become a label co-founder, teaming with longtime collaborator Jon Randall to launch their own imprint, Big Loud Texas, in partnership with Big Loud Records. She is also a New York Times bestselling author and the first female restaurateur on Lower Broadway with her Tex-Mex cantina, Casa Rosa, while also expanding her creative reach with her Wanda June Home collection exclusive to Walmart and her Idyllwind clothing and boot line at Boot Barn. Her passion for rescue animals inspired the creation of her MuttNation Foundation, which has raised over $10 million since inception to promote adoption, support shelters across the country, advance spay & neuter and assist with the transport of animals during times of natural disaster.

    About Anne Wilson

One of Nashville’s most inspiring young trailblazers, Anne Wilson is a revolution in modern music. The Lexington, Ky. native, known for her transcendent vocal and down-to-earth storytelling, recently released REBEL, fusing the heart of Contemporary Christian Music with the sound of country. A bold musical statement with an even bolder message of faith, REBEL features her hopeful, healing debut country single “Rain In The Rearview” as well as chart-topping ballad “Strong,” which notched No. 1 at Christian radio. Also from REBEL, “Songs About Whiskey” continues to be heard on country airwaves, while “The Cross (with Chris Tomlin)” simultaneously spins at Christian radio. The genre-bending album follows her GRAMMY-nominated 2022 debut My Jesus, with the title track becoming a PLATINUM-certified No. 1 hit on Billboard’s Christian Airplay chart. Since then, Wilson has tallied over one billion global streams, made her Grand Ole Opry debut and wrapped her entirely sold-out headlining My Jesus Tour and recent 27-stop The REBEL Tour in fall 2024. Already named a Spotify Hot Country Artist to Watch, one of CMT’s Next Women of Country, and a 2024 Opry NextStage Artist, she has made high-profile appearances on TODAY and ACM Honors, while earning her first-ever CMT Music Awards nomination, as well as a Billboard Music Award. On October 25, Wilson released REBEL (Live From Lexington), a 10-track live record featuring standouts from her genre-blending album REBEL, as well as her breakout hit “My Jesus.” Unapologetically real, Wilson approaches her craft with a purpose and conviction that sets her apart.

  • R&B Album, Song & Performance

Nominees: “After Hours” (Diovanna Frazier, Alex Goldblatt, Kehlani Parrish, Khris Riddick-Tynes & Daniel Upchurch); “Burning” (Ronald Banful & Temilade Openiyi); “Here We Go (Uh Oh)” (Sara Diamond, Sydney Floyd, Marisela Jackson, Courtney Jones, Carl McCormick & Kelvin Wooten); “Ruined Me” (Jeff Gitelman, Priscilla Renea & Kevin Theodore); “Saturn” (Rob Bisel, Carter Lang, Solána Rowe, Jared Solomon & Scott Zhang)

Analysis: It’s always a good sign when a song earns nominations in both songwriting and performance categories, which means Coco Jones (“Here We Go”) and SZA (“Saturn”) have particularly strong chances at taking this one home. Jones won best R&B performance last year with “ICU,” but lost best R&B song to SZA’s “Snooze.” “Saturn,” though a hit, wasn’t as big of a smash as “Snooze,” but SZA’s seemingly unstoppable momentum and forthcoming co-headlining North American stadium tour with Kendrick Lamar (a seven-time nominee this year), could help her win the trophy.

Nonetheless, the frontrunner across the R&B field is probably Muni Long. Revenge didn’t exactly light the charts on fire (it missed both the Billboard 200 and genre-specific album rankings), but the record spawned three consecutive top three Adult R&B Airplay singles, including the chart-toppers “Ruined Me” and “Make Me Forget.” With “Ruined Me” earning a lot of love from R&B circles and Long remaining a consistent cultural presence via performances and candid music industry revelations, this could very well be the Year of Muni Long.

Kehlani earned three nods this year, and this is her first nomination in this category. “After Hours” was one of the few uptempo R&B hits from the last year, which could help its chances in a songwriting category. Tems‘ “Burning” probably has the same chance of winning as “After Hours”; it’s a poignant track that finds the crossover star soaring in a leading role after being a key featured player on Grammy-approved hits like Future‘s “Wait For U” and Wizkid‘s “Essence.”

We’ll call this category for Muni Long; “Ruined Me” is fresh, commercially successful, critically acclaimed, and features the most-nominated R&B artist of the night.

    Prediction: Muni Long, “Ruined Me”

    Look Out For: SZA, “Saturn”

  • “There Were No Inhibitions”: Charley Crockett Confirms Release Date for New Album, ‘The Lonesome Drifter’

Charley Crockett has unveiled his new album, The Lonesome Drifter, with the project set to arrive on March 14th. The title-track will be made available this Friday, January 31st 2025.

Previously teased earlier in the week via Crockett’s mailing list, The Lonesome Drifter serves as the ‘I’m Just a Clown’ singer-songwriter’s debut project since signing to Island Records.

Speaking ahead of the release, the enigmatic, traditional-leaning crooner has explained how he teamed up with Shooter Jennings for the project, with the duo recording The Lonesome Drifter in the space of just 10 days at Los Angeles’ Sounds Studio.

Charley Crockett casually recalls how the album came to be, “Shooter and I barely talked about it. I just brought all of my guys out, and the album made itself. It was live without a lot of overdubs. There were no inhibitions. I wasn’t being judged, and I didn’t feel self-conscious. Shooter knew how to cut loose and let this thing unfold”.

The Texas maverick, who claims to be a descendent of frontiersman Davy Crockett, goes on to touch on the inspiration behind The Lonesome Drifter‘s title-track, “I started writing the song back when I was still playing in subways in New York. It’s how I learned to play electric guitar with an amp on my shoulder. While I was waiting for the next train, I wrote songs. A few years later, I was in California working on the ganja farms, and I came up with the ‘Lonesome Drifter’ section”.

Crockett expands, “When I arrived on the West Coast, I worked to stay out there as a drifter, so I could get away with playing music for a living. At night, I was doing heavy electric blues and hillbilly shit at local bars for six hours. Shooter got me back into that mindset. The burden of becoming a troubadour is you’re standing in a position that gives you a clear perspective of the struggles of humans. When all is said and done, everyone is just swinging a hammer to survive”.

In addition to the title-track, The Lonesome Drifter is set to feature an array of never-heard-before offerings, including Charley Crockett’s much-loved cover of ‘Jamestown Ferry’, which originally appeared on his 2017 record, Lil G.L.’s Honky Tonk Jubilee.

The famously prolific artist released two albums last year, along with the cutting single, ‘Hey Mr. Nashville’, with 2025 already shaping up to be another big year for Crockett fans.
