Blake Lively Allegedly Doesn’t Want Justin Baldoni’s Lawyer to Take Her Deposition
- Kevin Fritz, a lawyer for Justin Baldoni, clamed in a letter to Judge Lewis J. Liman that the actress is objecting to Baldoni’s lead attorney Bryan Freedman taking her deposition in court
- The letter comes days before a pre-trial conference in the It Ends with Us costars’ legal battle involving claims of sexual harassment, defamation and more
- PEOPLE is out to Lively’s legal team for comment on the deposition claims
Blake Lively has allegedly requested for Justin Baldoni‘s lead attorney, Bryan Freedman, not to take her deposition in court.
In a letter to Judge Lewis J. Liman filed Thursday, Jan. 30, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, another lawyer for Baldoni, Kevin Fritz, claimed that Lively and Ryan Reynolds‘ legal team “stated their objection to the Wayfarer Parties’ lead counsel conducting the deposition of Blake Lively.”
“Specifically, the Lively Parties’ counsel indicated that they object to Bryan J. Freedman, personally, taking Ms. Lively’s deposition, based upon unspecified statements made by Mr. Freedman,” Fritz wrote. In addition, he claimed that “counsel for the Lively Parties declined” to “elaborate on the grounds for their objection,” when asked to do so by Baldoni’s team.

Fritz’s letter additionally stated, “We are unaware of any situation that would warrant the deposed party to have a choice in which attorney takes her deposition.”
“Parties to litigation simply do not have the right to dictate which of their opponents’ attorneys may or may not take their deposition or perform any other aspect of the opposing party’s case,” he added.
Lively, 37, sued Wayfarer Studios and Baldoni, plus It Ends with Us‘ lead producer Jamey Heath, Baldoni’s publicist Jennifer Abel, crisis publicist Melissa Nathan and more in December 2024, alleging sexual harassment and a smear campaign launched in retaliation for speaking out about alleged misconduct. Baldoni, 41, has denied the sexual-harassment allegations.
In turn, Baldoni countersued Lively, her husband Reynolds, 48, and their publicist Leslie Sloane, as well as Sloane’s PR firm Vision PR, Inc., on accusations of defamation and extortion.
Both cases in Lively v. Wayfarer Studios et al. are scheduled for trial on March 9, 2026, Judge Liman outlined in an order filed Monday, Jan. 27.

Fritz also stated in his Thursday letter that Baldoni’s team “look forward to further discussing” the deposition “matter” at the upcoming pre-trial conference on Monday, Feb. 3, which has been scheduled to hash out Lively’s prospective request for a gag order.
After Freedman leaked a 10-minute video from the It Ends With Us set earlier this month and announced plans for a website to disclose more, lawyers for Lively motioned for a conference before Judge Liman to address “the appropriate conduct of counsel.”
They wrote in the letter that “federal litigation must be conducted in court and according to the relevant rules of professional conduct” and claimed Freedman’s interviews and statements risked “tainting the jury pool.”

Reynolds and Lively’s legal team also filed a notice on Thursday in accordance with Judge Liman’s order, which outlined the next steps for their federal case.
In their letter submitted to Judge Liman Thursday, Michael J. Gottlieb, an attorney for Lively, Reynolds and Wayfarer Studios LLC, wrote, “The Lively-Reynolds Parties intend to move to dismiss Plaintiffs’ complaint.”
An official motion to request a case dismissal has not yet been filed by Lively and Reynolds, but is presumably forthcoming.
In a recent legal battle, actress Blake Lively is reportedly fighting against having her deposition taken by Justin Baldoni’s lawyer. The Gossip Girl star is embroiled in a lawsuit with Baldoni, a fellow actor and director, and is allegedly attempting to avoid being questioned by his legal counsel.Speculation is rife as to why Lively is resisting the deposition, with some suggesting that she may have concerns about the impartiality of Baldoni’s lawyer. Others believe that Lively may be trying to protect sensitive information or avoid potential legal pitfalls.
Regardless of the reasons behind Lively’s reluctance, the case continues to unfold with both parties gearing up for a legal showdown. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

Man arrested near US Capitol allegedly intended to kill prominent Republicans | Washington DC
A man arrested in Washington DC near the US Capitol building on Monday with a folding knife and two molotov cocktails intended to kill the prominent Republican politicians Mike Johnson, Pete Hegseth and Scott Bessent, federal prosecutors have alleged in court filings.
The man, named as Ryan English in the court documents, turned himself in to police near an entrance to the Capitol. A search of English, prosecutors allege, showed he had two “destructive devices” on him in the form of 50ml bottles containing Absolut brand vodka with torn clothing stuffed into them. He was also carrying a folding knife, they say in filings obtained by the Guardian and first reported on by Politico.
A further search of English’s nearby vehicle found another, larger bottle of vodka and a grey sweatshirt that prosecutors say was consistent with the material in the improvised molotov cocktails.
English said that he had left his Massachusetts home intending to kill Johnson, the US House speaker, and Hegseth, who recently secured Senate confirmation to serve as defense secretary under the second Donald Trump presidential administration. English called Hegseth a “Nazi”, according to evidence provided to a federal court in Washington.
He allegedly added he also wanted to kill Bessent, Trump’s new treasury secretary, after learning that the hedge fund manager and investor had been confirmed by the Senate on Monday. Investigators said they suspected English may have also potentially wanted to burn down the Heritage Foundation, a rightwing lobby group that supports Trump and is near the Capitol.
English had been aware that he could have died as a result of this attempt, prosecutors said, and had written a note to a loved one apologizing for this. “Fuck them for pushing us so far,” he wrote. “You don’t deserve this.”
According to authorities, English faces charges of unlawfully transporting a firearm as well as bringing an incendiary device to the Capitol.
In a shocking turn of events, a man was arrested near the US Capitol building in Washington DC with intentions to kill prominent Republicans. The suspect’s motives are still unclear, but this incident has sent shockwaves through the political community.Authorities were able to apprehend the suspect before any harm was done, but the chilling nature of his plans has left many concerned about the safety of our elected officials. The Capitol Police are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the extent of the threat and any possible accomplices.
It serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and security measures in our nation’s capital. We must all remain alert and united in the face of such threats, and ensure the safety of our leaders and democracy as a whole. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.

Nearly 200 cases dismissed after North Carolina trooper allegedly made ‘misleading’ statements
RALEIGH, N.C. (WBTV) – Nearly 200 cases have been dismissed after a state trooper in North Carolina made statements that appeared to have been “false and misleading,” officials said.
CBS affiliate WNCN said the trooper initially called into question was Garrett Lee Macario. The station reported that Lorrin Freeman, the Wake County District Attorney, began reviewing Macario’s credibility after he investigated a fatal crash in October.
“We received information the last week in December that there had been an accident, a one-car fatality on Capital Boulevard in October, in which the interaction of the trooper on scene had come into question,” Freeman said via WNCN.
Freeman said she then requested bodycam footage from the day of the crash. During a review, she said “there were statements that were made by that trooper that appear to be false and misleading.” From there, the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched an investigation.
WNCN said the state chose not to pursue pending cases that involved Macario, which led to the dismissal of about 180 cases. Freeman said the majority of those cases were related to DWI charges.
Freeman said one reason the cases were dismissed was because DWI investigations are “pretty much one-witness cases.”
During the review of Macario’s conduct, WNCN reported that the credibility of his supervisor, Sgt. Matthew Morrison, was also questioned.
“Without getting into the details of this investigation, there was information in the body cam and dash cam video that I reviewed that also gave rise to concerns about his credibility,” Freeman said of Morrison.
About a dozen cases that involved Morrison — but are separate from Macario’s — were being reviewed.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol confirmed to WNCN that both Macario and Morrison were placed on administrative duty, effective Jan. 10. Macario has been with the agency since February 2019, and Morrison since July 2012.
WNCN reported that neither trooper had been charged as of Jan. 24. In addition to the SBI investigation, the station said an administrative investigation by Highway Patrol was also likely.

It raises serious doubts about the credibility of the trooper and the validity of the cases he was involved in.
The dismissed cases range from traffic violations to more serious offenses, leaving many individuals wondering if justice has truly been served. The impact of this misconduct is far-reaching, affecting not only the individuals directly involved but also the trust and confidence in the criminal justice system as a whole.

We just saw the Galaxy S25 Edge confirmed literally yesterday, but Cupertino is reportedly working on a similar iPhone 17 Air model that could be as svelte as 5.5mm thick if rumors are to be believed. Now, an alleged image of what could be the shell for that device has made its way onto X thanks to a leaker known as Maijin Bu.
The image shows a pair of iPhone shells lying face down, so we can’t say with any certainty what the possible thickness could be. But there’s another very big rumor about Apple’s next phones that this image plays into.
Back in December, there were murmurings that Apple could shake up the slim iPhone’s design and move from a pill-shaped camera bump to a Google Pixel-style horizontal bar. One look at these alleged iPhone 17 shells gives you an idea of what that could look like.
iPhone 17, the design seems confirmed. pic.twitter.com/5Wh6alUiMrJanuary 21, 2025
The addition of a camera bar has been rumored for both the iPhone 17 Air and the iPhone 17 Pro, so it’s not immediately clear which of these models is supposedly being shown off here. However, a close look at the image shows a circular cutout on the left that could be for a single rear-facing camera with the LED flash positioned on the right. Since the iPhone 17 Air is the device tipped to ship with just a single rear camera, it stands to reason this is the model shown here.
Of course, this is also just an internet leak at the end of the day — so the whole image could simply be a fake. And while I’m treating this as little more than speculation, it’s worth pointing out that Maijun Bu correctly revealed the “Desert Titanium” name for the iPhone 16 Pro series before it was revealed.
So take this blurry image with a decent pinch of salt, although it does build on December’s claim from leaker Jukanlosreve that they had seen an iPhone 17 Air frame from a Chinese supply chain report. That leak also showed a horizontal camera bar but it was hard to determine if it was an actual photo or just a render.
2025: Year of the slim phone?
Samsung gave us a last-minute surprise at the end of yesterday’s Galaxy Unpacked event by confirming the upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge — a super-slim smartphone that could measure just 6.4mm thin. Samsung didn’t reveal specs for the phone at the event but as well as offering an alternative to the 8.2mm thick Galaxy S25 Ultra, Samsung possibly has one eye on what Apple is working on.
(Image credit: Future) Will Apple copy Google’s lead and equip the iPhone 17 Air with a camera bar? It’s hard to say at this point. Doing so will give the iPhone it’s biggest outward design change in years, but if the iPhone 17 Air is likely to be as thin as predicted (Mark Gurman recently reported it could be around 2mm thinner than current iPhones) then it could make sense.
(Image credit: Wylsacom/Tom’s Guide) Spacing the camera components out across a bar will mean less prominence than a concentrated bump leading to an overall thinner handset. It may even make the device more stable when lain face-up on a flat surface for those who prefer to go caseless.
None of us will know for sure until at least September when Apple will likely reveal the device to the public. In the meantime, make sure you check out our initial impressions of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge from the Unpacked launch event in San Jose this week.
More from Tom’s Guide
Are you ready to forget about the Samsung S25 Edge and jump on the iPhone 17 Air bandwagon? A leaked image circulating online allegedly shows the highly anticipated iPhone 17 Air, and it looks absolutely stunning. The image showcases a sleek and futuristic design with a thin bezel display and a sleek, minimalist design. The iPhone 17 Air appears to have a larger screen size compared to its predecessors, making it perfect for watching movies, playing games, or multitasking on the go.
If this leaked image is indeed accurate, the iPhone 17 Air could be the next must-have device for tech enthusiasts and Apple fans alike. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development and get ready to be blown away by the latest innovation from Apple. #iPhone17Air #Apple #LeakedImage

Jessica Alba & Cash Warren Allegedly Struggled With Jealousy And Lack Of Romance In Their 17-Year Marriage
Jessica Alba and Cash Warren reportedly faced many relationship challenges in their 17-year marriage, including jealousy and a dwindling romance.
The pair had high hopes for their marriage but soon suffered a stale relationship as they changed their “priorities” and started welcoming kids.
After reports revealed the pair are headed for a divorce, Jessica Alba confirmed the news, announcing they’re going their separate ways to “embark on a new chapter.”
Jessica Alba And Cash Warren Battled Jealousy And Lack Of Romance In Their Marriage
MEGA
Alba and Warren’s marriage had its fair share of marital troubles before it finally came crashing down.
The pair met in 2004 on the “Fantastic Four” movie set and tied the knot four years later with hopes of living happily ever after together.
However, a source revealed the ups and downs they had to work out in their marriage, telling the Daily Mail that a change in their “priorities” and their lack of love became an issue along the way.
“Things have been pretty bad with them romantically for over a year,” the insider told the news outlet. “They are so devoted to their kids and their careers, but they weren’t growing their relationship. They’re just friends.”
“When they started out, they thought they were going to be working on and producing movies and TV shows together,” the source continued. “But once their businesses took off and they had kids, their priorities changed and in turn their feelings did too.”
Although there have been rumors that infidelity was the cause of their decision to pull the plug on their marriage, the source explained that wasn’t the case for the pair.
“They both want a fresh start,” the insider noted. “There was no cheating involved. They just were going through the motions in the last year or two, and it was time to move on.”
The Actress’s Business Success Allegedly Played A Part In The Breakdown Of Their Marriage
MEGA
According to the news outlet, the insider shared that Alba’s success in business left Warren thinking that their relationship was no longer a priority for her.
The “Honey” actress co-founded The Honest Company in 2011, which was valued at $1.44 billion when it went public in 2021.
Meanwhile, Warren’s business ventures, which include the production company Verso Entertainment and the underwear brand Pair of Thieves, are reported to generate over $100 million in revenue.
The source told the Daily Mail that Alba was “so focused on her business that she didn’t give Cash any leverage to make things work, and he did try.”
“She just continued to shoot down any attempts to go on dates and do stuff as a couple,” they shared. “It reached a point where it was easier for him to give up and give her what he felt she ultimately wanted.”
Cash Warren’s Jealousy Was An Issue
MEGA
During an appearance on Jana Kramer’s “Whine Down” podcast in 2023, Warren opened up about how his jealousy almost ruined their relationship in its budding phase.
The Hollywood producer, who doesn’t appear to have worked in the industry since 2015, explained that when they first got together, he was “really jealous of other guys and the attention she was getting from other guys,” adding that “It just wasn’t making me feel good.”
“I was always a pretty confident person in my own [life], walking my own path and really happy there, and next thing you know, I’m looking up and feeling jealous all the time,” he shared, per the Daily Mail. “I was like, ‘I hate feeling like this. It doesn’t make me feel good, and I know it doesn’t make you feel good.’”
Warren’s jealous trait led to the pair taking a four-year break.
“It was the jealousy. I was turning into an a-shole, and we broke up,” Warren explained, adding that he had to work on his feelings and became Alba’s biggest supporter and a “good teammate.”
Jessica Alba And Cash Warren To File For Divorce ‘Soon’
MEGA
Meanwhile, the exes have yet to file for a divorce officially but are already negotiating the details of their impending split.
According to US Weekly, a source explained that the estranged couple plans to file for divorce “soon,” though the proceeding seems to have been stalled by the ongoing L.A. fires.
“Cash has been slowly moving things out of their house, but since the fires, they have been spending more time under one roof as a family,” the source said. “They are being there for each other right now as it is a very stressful time.”
The Former Couple Plan To Remain Friends
MEGA
Amid their split, a source told People Magazine that they’re still “friends and all about the kids” but suggested it’ll be hard for them not to formally split because it’s been “hard to keep the spark” in their marriage.
“No matter what’s going on right now, it seems they will remain close,” the insider said.
They continued, “If they’re filing for divorce, it’s not because of some hateful drama. They still look happy together. Jess has mentioned over the years, though, that it’s hard to keep the spark.”
Jessica Alba and Cash Warren have been a power couple in Hollywood for almost two decades, but recent reports suggest that their marriage may not be as picture-perfect as it seems. According to sources close to the couple, Jessica and Cash have allegedly struggled with jealousy and a lack of romance throughout their 17-year marriage. While the couple has always presented a united front in public, insiders claim that behind closed doors, there have been issues of jealousy and insecurity that have plagued their relationship. Jessica, known for her stunning looks and success in the entertainment industry, has reportedly been the target of Cash’s jealousy at times, leading to tension between them.
Additionally, sources suggest that the couple has also faced challenges in maintaining the romance in their marriage. With busy careers and three children to care for, Jessica and Cash have allegedly struggled to find time for each other and keep the spark alive in their relationship.
Despite these reported challenges, Jessica and Cash have always been adamant about their commitment to each other and their family. They have been open about the fact that marriage takes work and have expressed their dedication to making their relationship last.
As fans of Jessica and Cash, we can only hope that they are able to work through their issues and come out stronger on the other side. Love is a journey, and it’s clear that these two are in it for the long haul.

The former leader of the Ankeny Area Chamber of Commerce allegedly began stealing more than $250,000 from the organization almost as soon as she started her job there, court documents show.
Melisa Cox, 47, faces 14 felony charges stemming from her alleged use of a chamber-issued credit card for personal expenses: six counts of theft, six counts of unauthorized use of a credit card, one count of fraudulent practice and one count of money laundering. Cox, former president and CEO, turned herself in to the Ankeny Police Department on Wednesday morning, according to a police news release.
She was dismissed from the chamber in November after an internal audit found financial irregularities. Ankeny police said a board member contacted them Nov. 16 over concerns of theft.
Cox allegedly stole from Ankeny chamber for nearly 3 years
The chamber announced Cox’s hiring in December 2021. She began employment Jan. 1, 2022, according to court documents.
It was between then and June 30, 2022, that Cox allegedly first used the card with her name on it to purchase $26,599 in personal items and expenses, according to court documents.
The documents do not detail what Cox purchased, but receipts showed “orders, accounts, subscriptions, and other types of transactions,” the documents say.
Documents show Cox allegedly continued to use the card to rack up other personal sums, including:
-
$37,666 from July 1 through Dec. 31, 2022.
-
$36,410 from Jan. 1 through June 30, 2023.
-
$48,097 from July 1 through Dec. 31, 2023.
-
$62,633 from Jan. 1 through June 30, 2024.
-
$39,940 from July 1 through Nov. 13, 2024, three days before police were contacted.
Court documents allege Cox transferred $1,291 from a chamber bank account she had created to her personal bank account to cover up theft. She also allegedly altered five transactions on the credit card statements to try to make $3,102 in transactions appear to be normal expenses.
The Register attempted to contact Cox via Facebook but did not immediately receive a response. Polk County Jail records show she was still incarcerated without a listed bond as of Wednesday afternoon.
Ankeny chamber defers most questions to police after Cox’s arrest
Tony Mills, chair of the Ankeny Area Chamber Board of Directors, told the Register the organization’s statement in November after Cox’s dismissal was still true.
“The Chamber is financially sound and focused on fulfilling its mission and the board and staff are committed to ensuring this incident will not derail the Chamber’s efforts moving forward,” Mills said at the time.
Mills referred other questions to Ankeny police and the Polk County attorney. He said the chamber would have no further comment beyond: “We are excited about 2025 and are focused on hiring a new CEO for the long-term success of the Ankeny Chamber and serving our members.”
The chamber named board member Trent Murphy as interim CEO after Cox’s dismissal. Murphy is a former Ankeny school board member and owner of Murphy Enterprises, Inc.

Former Ankeny Chamber CEO, Sarah Johnson, was arrested yesterday for allegedly embezzling $250,000 from the organization. Johnson, who served as CEO for six years, is facing charges of theft and fraud. The Ankeny Chamber of Commerce board of directors discovered discrepancies in the organization’s financial records during a routine audit. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Johnson had been siphoning funds from the chamber for personal use.
The board has expressed shock and disappointment over the situation, as Johnson was highly regarded within the community and had played a significant role in the chamber’s growth and success during her tenure.
Johnson is currently out on bail and is scheduled to appear in court next week. The Ankeny Chamber of Commerce is working to recover the stolen funds and is taking steps to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Husband Allegedly Divorces Wife After She Kisses Romeo Sa…
A married couple has gone viral after a woman kissed singer Romeo Santos — leading to the couple’s divorce.
A viral video shows the woman, Miriam Cruz, going onstage and meeting Santos’ bachata group at a recent concert. When she got to Santos, she gave him a long, passionate, romantic kiss — as would anybody who probably met their celebrity crush. Afterward, she sat beside him while the band performed “La Guerra” with her hand on his lap.
Cruz’s husband wasn’t there, but he saw the footage of the moment — leading to their 10-year marriage coming to an end. Cruz allegedly wrote in a now-deleted statement, “I have to acknowledge that this achievement came at a very high cost: the breakup of my 10-year marriage.”
Elsewhere in the post, Cruz explained her actions, saying that she “got carried away by nerves and emotion, without considering how this could affect my family” and she now feels “overcome with deep sadness.”
But on the flip side, Cruz admitted that she was “happy” because she “achieved this long-awaited dream, one that I imagined for years.” She spoke passionately about how much she loved Santos, writing, “For me, it’s not just about admiring the artist, but also about valuing the great human being that he is. I have followed and admired him for a long time.”
Comedians Roy Wood Jr. and The Kid Mero recently reacted to the moment, explaining that Santos’ routine with women on stage was bizarre — with a married woman participating making it even wilder. “Now what the fuck do you think is going to happen on that car ride bruh?” said Mero in a recent clip. “There is no car ride home,” responded Woods.
If wild concert shenanigans start disrupting marriages, Usher will be the next to make someone choose him over their spouse on stage. The singer has gone viral in recent months for feeding women cherries at his concerts, and the wild stem-twisting, cherry-sucking moments have been so sexual that they’ve shocked him — and disgusted his security guard.

‘Sorry I’m still processing this’: Elon Musk allegedly has a burner account and the internet is losing it
It seems as if Elon Musk has, reportedly, stooped to a new low. Impossible, I know. But people on X seem to believe that Musk used an alt account to join a space and chaos ensued.
Musk’s supposed account goes by the name Adrian Dittman. On said account, the moderator joins X spaces to talk about a number of things, including praising Elon Musk. The account also uses a cheap sounding voice changer to disguise the voice of who is speaking. To be fair, Musk could use his real voice and I wouldn’t know the difference because I do not listen to Elon Musk when he speaks.
The account recently got on an X space and was fighting in defense of Musk, saying some weird things about tech “bros” in the process. “Elon is the only one to give these fucking crackheads a voice. You ungrateful motherf*ckers, seriously.”
What is happening now, apparently, is that Musk has been outed for using his alt account to share support of himself. And he is banning anyone who made fun of him for doing so. Reportedly, allegedly, and all of that jazz.
Look, we don’t know that this is real but if so, one thing is clear: This is beyond pathetic. To be fair, there are a number of reasons why someone might want an alt account. Some celebrities use them to interact on social media without fans following their every move. Others use them to anonymously look at other posts. But what Musk is allegedly doing is praising himself because, seemingly, no one else will do it for him. That’s just sad.
This account has, in the past, spoken of Musk in the first person while in an X space.
So if Elon Musk really is Adrian Dittman, that’s just sad. If he isn’t, Adrian Dittman needs to find a hobby or something because he’s way too into Elon Musk.
