  • Will Alperen Sengun Be an All-Star?

Alperen Sengun has been one of Houston’s best players this season.

So far, the center is averaging 19.4 points, a career-high 10.5 rebounds, and 5.1 assists. He also has 26 double-doubles this season. In his four-year career, he has seven triple-doubles, three of those being from this season. Sengun had two last season, and two the previous year. In his last 21 games, he is averaging 20.1 points, 10.3 rebounds, and five assists on 50.6% from the field.

Sengun has been unstoppable this year when he’s on. As Sengun looks for that extra pass, he is able to help produce big buckets for Houston when the team needs him. He is as selfless as they come on the court, and his passing ability is one of the best for a center in the league. The Turkish center has also been dominating in the post. One of his best games this year happened against the Minnesota Timberwolves, in which he had 38 points and 12 rebounds, but only one assist. This is what makes his game so special. He can play as the primary in the post and get his buckets to lead the Rockets, or he can get the ball and look for any player on the court to pass to, whether it is behind-the-back, between the legs, or across court.

National media’s calling for Sengun as an All-Star should hopefully help his chances. It will look great for Houston, as they will be rewarded with their first player to make the roster since James Harden. He is sixth in All-Star fan voting for the Western Conference frontcourt. The attention that Sengun has recently been getting should help him make the roster. There are so many great players in the Western Conference such as Nikola Jokic, LeBron James, and Anthony Davis, which could potentially hold Sengun back from making the roster. Victor Wembanyama has been a force to be reckoned with in his sophomore season, but Sengun has played well against him almost every time that they have faced off.

Alperen Sengun has been making waves in the NBA with his impressive rookie season performance. The young center has shown tremendous potential on both ends of the court, showcasing his scoring ability, rebounding skills, and shot-blocking prowess.

With his strong work ethic and dedication to improving his game, many fans and analysts are wondering if Sengun has what it takes to become an All-Star in the near future.

At just 19 years old, Sengun has already proven himself to be a valuable asset to the Houston Rockets, and his numbers speak for themselves. He is averaging 11.3 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game in his rookie season, all while shooting an impressive 52.6% from the field.

If Sengun continues to develop at this rate and stays healthy, there is no doubt that he has the potential to become an All-Star in the coming years. His combination of size, skill, and basketball IQ make him a unique talent in the league, and with the right opportunities and coaching, he could easily become a household name in the NBA.

Only time will tell if Alperen Sengun will reach All-Star status, but one thing is for sure – he is definitely a player to keep an eye on in the future.

  • Charles Barkley slams San Francisco as ‘rat infested,’ declares he’s skipping NBA All-Star Game

Basketball Hall of Famer Charles Barkley took another shot at the city of San Francisco as he made clear he had no intentions of going to the NBA All-Star Game.

Barkley spoke on TNT’s “Inside the NBA” about the All-Star candidacy of the Detroit Pistons’ young star Cade Cunningham. With the Golden State Warriors set to host the game at the Oracle Arena in San Francisco, Barkley said Cunningham will be there, but he won’t.

“He’s going to make the All-Star Team,” Barkley said. “I’m not going. I’m not going to that rat-infested place out in San Francisco.”

Barkley responded to one of his colleagues calling San Francisco “beautiful.”

“San Francisco is not a beautiful city. Rats. Cats. Y’all are not gonna make me like San Francisco. No. Nope, nope, nope”

It’s not the first time Barkley had criticized the city. Last year, he ripped San Francisco during the NBA’s alternative broadcast of the All-Star Game, which took place in Indianapolis.

Barkley asked Miller which he would choose: playing in the cold in Indianapolis – where Miller spent his entire 18-year NBA career – or “being around a bunch of homeless crooks in San Francisco.”

Warriors star Draymond Green called Barkley “crazy” and said that Barkley was not “welcome” in the city. WNBA star Candace Parker said “we love San Francisco,” but Barkley offered a retort.

“No we don’t,” he said. “… You can’t even walk around down there.”

Green was emphatic with his pushback.

“Yes you can walk around,” he said.

Barkley clapped back saying, “Yeah, with a bulletproof vest.”

In a recent interview, NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley did not hold back when sharing his thoughts on San Francisco. The former basketball star slammed the city as ‘rat-infested’ and declared that he would be skipping the upcoming NBA All-Star Game, which is set to take place in San Francisco.

Barkley, known for his blunt and outspoken nature, did not mince words when discussing his disdain for the city. He expressed concerns about the cleanliness and safety of San Francisco, citing the presence of rats as a major issue.

While the NBA All-Star Game is a highly anticipated event that draws fans and players from around the world, Barkley’s decision to skip it speaks volumes about his feelings towards San Francisco. It remains to be seen if other players or celebrities will follow suit and also choose to boycott the event.

Despite the controversy surrounding his comments, Charles Barkley has never been one to shy away from expressing his opinions. Whether you agree with him or not, it’s clear that his strong stance on San Francisco has sparked a debate about the city’s reputation and cleanliness.

  • Three Teams Linked to Baltimore Orioles All-Star Slugger Free Agent

A reunion with Anthony Santander at the beginning of free agency seemed very unlikely, and a few months later, that continues to be the case for the Baltimore Orioles.

Whether that will be the right decision remains to be seen, but for an Orioles team that wasn’t the best offensively for most of the second half and during the playoffs, it’s questionable they’re allowing their second-best hitter to walk.

If Baltimore has shown anything during its existence, the ball club has rarely been willing to spend.

Could that be the case with Santander?

Probably, but it’s also fair to suggest the Orioles see other flaws in his game.

He’s a below-average defender and is coming off the best showing of his career. Rewarding him with an $85-plus million deal could backfire despite how well he played a campaign ago.

While Baltimore doesn’t seem to be a landing spot, it’s a bit surprising Santander still remains on the market. Even if a team is questioning his defensive prowess, he is a switch-hitter coming off a 44-home run year.

    Someone has to want him.

He’s a massive power bat who could fit in any lineup, whether in the outfield or as a designated hitter.

So, what’s taking so long and is anyone truly interested?

According to Jon Heyman of Bleacher Report, Santander’s market is starting to heat up from the sound of things. He named three teams that could be in on the All-Star.

“Yeah, I should mention Santander with [Pete] Alonso. And, you know, that’s an option for the Mets probably. Probably wait to see on Alonso first. We shall see. Could they sign both? Theoretically, they could. I saw that their payroll, and tied with the Braves, has dipped the most to this point, which is shocking because they signed [Juan] Soto to a record deal, $70 million down on the payroll … But Santander, I think, will be potentially the Jays. Angels, those are teams potentially. The Mets are connected.”

All three of those ball clubs have money to spend, and there’s reason to believe he could be a fit for any of them.

The Toronto Blue Jays would be the worst spot of the three from the Orioles’ perspective, with them being in the American League East.

They’re more than Santander away from competing in the division, but Baltimore would be allowing its best hitter to join a division rival which could be a potential issue.

Three Teams Linked to Baltimore Orioles All-Star Slugger Free Agent

As the MLB offseason heats up, rumors are swirling about the future of Baltimore Orioles All-Star slugger, who is set to hit free agency this offseason. Several teams have reportedly shown interest in the power-hitting outfielder, with three teams emerging as frontrunners in the race to sign him.

    1. New York Yankees: The Yankees are in desperate need of a power bat in their lineup, and the addition of the Orioles slugger could provide the offensive boost they need to compete for a World Series title. With their deep pockets and championship aspirations, the Yankees are expected to be aggressive in their pursuit of the All-Star outfielder.

    2. Los Angeles Dodgers: The Dodgers are another team that has been linked to the Orioles slugger, as they look to add more firepower to an already potent lineup. With a stacked roster and a track record of success, the Dodgers could be an attractive landing spot for the free agent slugger.

    3. San Francisco Giants: The Giants have also been mentioned as a potential landing spot for the Orioles All-Star, as they look to revamp their lineup and make a push for a playoff berth. With a strong pitching staff and a need for more offense, the Giants could be a dark horse candidate to sign the power-hitting outfielder.

It remains to be seen where the Baltimore Orioles All-Star slugger will ultimately sign this offseason, but one thing is for certain – several teams are eager to add his powerful bat to their lineup. Stay tuned for more updates as the free agent market continues to unfold.

  • Austin Reaves Has Played At All-Star Level Since Taking On Primary Creator Role For Lakers

When the Los Angeles Lakers traded away D’Angelo Russell to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Dorian Finney-Smith, it was a signal to guard Austin Reaves. Head coach JJ Redick was telling Reaves that he was ready to become a primary creator and initiator for an L.A. offense that has been in the top half of the league for much of the season.

In the seven games prior to the deal, Reaves had been averaging 20.3 points, 5.9 rebounds and 7.4 assists a night on relatively strong shooting numbers. That gave the organization confidence that he could continue that on a larger scale. And in the seven games since the trade, he’s averaging 18.9 points and 8.6 assists. His shooting numbers have dipped slightly, but he is undoubtedly initiating well.

Redick was asked how he feels Reaves is adjusting to the new role and responding to the slightly decreased shooting numbers, giving high praise for his point guard.

“Yeah, I think, I don’t know if you did, but I know someone asked me a similar question when this whole thing first started. Might have been Dan. Just about the turnovers and kind of living with that but also finding the balance. You have to give him his daring. He has a daring mentality. You have to give a little bit on that and allow him to live in that space. I think when he’s played the right way, which is taking responsibility for what he is for this team, which is primary creator, and taken the right shot and made the right passes, I’ll be honest with you, he’s played at an All-Star level,” Redick said.

“Like, he’s been that good. You don’t have stretches of 10, 12 games in an NBA season averaging 22, 8 and 6 on high efficiency without playing the right way. And he’s been that good for us.

“It’s when the game kind of goes sideways. And this is what we talked about yesterday. The game going sideways. It’s like, you can’t get out of character. You can’t then decide, ‘I’m gonna take bad shots cause I haven’t had a shot in a while. I’m gonna make that pass. Our team needs you to play the right way every time.’ And when he’s done that, he’s been elite.”

With Reaves being so new to this role, there are bound to be some mistakes and some games where things might get away from him. But there is no denying that he has shown the potential to excel as a primary creator.

And it doesn’t seem like the Lakers are going away from him in that role any time soon.

JJ Redick: Lakers planning to return to two-big lineups

Lakers head coach JJ Redick revealed his plan to return to two-big lineups with a center next to Anthony Davis in order to help with the team’s recent defensive struggles.
