Nintendo Switch 2 Is Announced With a 2025 Release Date
Nintendo on Thursday announced a successor to its popular Switch console in a short video that showcased the new hardware. The Switch 2 will arrive sometime this year with a larger hand-held display, magnetic controllers and backward compatibility that allows people to play original Switch games.
Although the reveal was short on details, the video showed a few seconds from what appeared to be a new game in the Mario Kart franchise. Citizens of the Mushroom Kingdom raced on a new track with 24 drivers on a dusty desert course. Nintendo declined to respond to questions about the new game.
Nintendo’s video ended with a promise to share more details about the console in April, when the company will hold demonstrations around the world.
The release of a new video game console is an important financial decision for companies like Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft. They sometimes have difficulty persuading users to adopt new hardware and often take losses on manufacturing costs.
Nintendo has a checkered history with console releases. There have been great successes like the original 1983 Nintendo Entertainment System and failures like the 1995 Virtual Boy and the 2012 Wii U, which led some industry analysts to recommend that Nintendo exit the console business to focus on software like its Mario and Zelda franchises.
The Nintendo Switch was released in 2017 and revived the company’s financial prospects at the sacrifice of a longtime market for hand-held devices like the Game Boy and Nintendo DS. The Switch can be played anywhere, either plugged into a television or on the move.
According to company sales records, the Switch has sold more than 146 million units, making it one of the best-selling consoles in history.
The Switch 2 is arriving as Nintendo transforms into a global entertainment company. It has opened theme parks with Universal Studios around the world and produced blockbuster movies including “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” and the upcoming adaptation of its Legend of Zelda series. Late last year, it even produced an alarm clock.

Pat McAfee WWE Raw Replacement Announced Amidst Corey Graves Controversy
Wade Barrett will be on commentary to replace Pat McAfee for the next episode of Raw.
Pat McAfee is set to miss the next episode of WWE Raw to call the College Football National Championship game between Ohio State and Notre Dame. This means there’s a slot on commentary that needs filling, but with the recent Corey Graves controversy still very much unresolved, WWE have instead turned to Wade Barrett.
The former King of the Ring will replace McAfee on commentary on the January 20th episode of WWE Raw, calling the action alongside Michael Cole. Earlier this month, Barrett teamed with Joe Tessitore on the commentary desk for the first time on WWE SmackDown.
The Corey Graves controversy began earlier this month, when Graves took to social media on January 13th to air frustrations about being moved to NXT. Graves hinted at being “not famous enough” to do the job he’d worked so hard at since being forced to retire due to concussion issues. Despite promising he had “a lot to say” on the January 14th broadcast of NXT, Graves was pulled from the show following his complaints, and all reports indicate the tension between himself and WWE is legitimate.
According to Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling Observer Radio, some WWE personnel believe Graves was intentionally looking to get let go following the posts. Meltzer concluded, “they probably aren’t gonna fire him, because I don’t think they want him going to AEW if they give him a release”.

Rosters Announced For 2025 Pro Bowl Games
NEW YORK — Jan. 2, 2025 — The NFL today announced the AFC and NFC rosters for the 2025 Pro Bowl Games.
Player selections for the AFC and NFC rosters for the Pro Bowl Games were determined by the consensus votes of fans, players and coaches, with each group’s vote counting as one-third toward determining the all-star players. The NFL is the only sports league that combines voting by fans, coaches and players to determine its all-star teams. NFL players and coaches voted on Friday, Dec. 27.
For the second consecutive year, the NFL will return to Orlando to celebrate the league’s best players at the 2025 Pro Bowl Games presented by Verizon. As in past years, the Pro Bowl Games provides fans with an unmatched opportunity to vote for their favorite players to compete in a multi-day AFC versus NFC competition, featuring Pro Bowl Skills and culminating in an action-packed flag football game, led by head coaches Peyton and Eli Manning.
The 2025 Pro Bowl Games, hosted in partnership with Florida Citrus Sports, Orange County, and the City of Orlando, on Sunday, Feb. 2 promises fans a day filled with thrilling AFC versus NFC action. On Sunday, ticketholders will experience the league’s 88 biggest stars go head-to-head in new and fan-favorite competitions, face-off in an epic flag football game, and enjoy a variety of family friendly activities, giveaways, and interactive experiences. Sunday’s events will also be televised from 3-6 p.m. ET on ESPN and ABC.
In addition to Sunday’s event, ESPN will air the Pro Bowl Skills Show live on Thursday, Jan. 30, from 7-8:30 p.m. ET. This made-for-TV event will feature the NFL’s top players as they take on unique competitions designed to showcase their competitiveness on-and-off the field. Announced in December, the 2025 Pro Bowl Games presented by Verizon will combine fresh and fan-favorite skills, with cumulative scoring from Thursday’s skills contests building up to the highly anticipated flag football matchup on Sunday. Twenty-eight teams had at least one player selected to the 2025 Pro Bowl Games roster and 22 clubs had multiple players chosen as all-stars. The Baltimore Ravens led all teams with nine Pro Bowl selections while the Detroit Lions (seven players), Minnesota Vikings (six), Philadelphia Eagles (six), Dallas Cowboys (five) and Kansas City Chiefs (five) each placed at least five players on the Pro Bowl roster.
The AFC quarterbacks are:
- Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills (third selection), who has 41 touchdowns (28 passing, 12 rushing, one receiving) this season and became the first player in NFL history with at least 25 touchdown passes and 10 rushing touchdowns in multiple career seasons.
- Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals (third selection), who leads the NFL in passing yards (4,641) and touchdown passes (42) entering Week 18 and became the first player in NFL history with at least 250 passing yards and three touchdown passes in eight consecutive games.
- Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens (fourth selection), who has 4,807 yards (3,955 passing, 852 rushing) and 43 touchdowns (39 passing, four rushing) and a league-leading 121.6 passer rating entering Week 18 and became the first quarterback in NFL history with at least 500 rushing yards in seven consecutive seasons and the all-time leading rusher among quarterbacks (6,110 rushing yards entering Week 18).
The NFC quarterbacks are:
- Jayden Daniels of the Washington Commanders (first selection), who became the fourth rookie quarterback in NFL history with at least 30 combined passing and rushing touchdowns and set the record for the most rushing yards by a rookie quarterback in NFL history (864 rushing yards entering Week 18).
- Sam Darnold of the Minnesota Vikings (first selection), who ranks fourth in the NFL in passing yards (career-high 4,153) and fifth in touchdown passes (career-high 35) and became the first starting quarterback in NFL history to record 14 wins in his first season with a team.
- Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions (fourth selection), who ranks second in the league in passer rating (113.6) and passing yards (4,398) and fourth in touchdown passes (36) and became the first player with at least 275 passing yards, two touchdown passes and a passer rating of 135-or-higher in five games within a single season in NFL history.
Jayden Daniels is the fourth rookie quarterback since 1970 to be selected to the initial Pro Bowl roster, along with Robert Griffin III (2012 season), Pro Football Hall of Famer Dan Marino (1983 season) and Dak Prescott (2016 season).
Kansas City’s Travis Kelce was chosen to his 10th Pro Bowl, trailing only Pro Football Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez (14) and Jason Witten (11) for the most Pro Bowl selections among tight ends all-time.
San Francisco’s Kyle Juszczyk was selected to his ninth Pro Bowl, the most ever by a fullback.
Indianapolis’ Quenton Nelson is the third offensive lineman to be selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his first seven career seasons since 1970, joining Pro Football Hall of Famer Joe Thomas (first 10 seasons) and Richmond Webb (first seven).
Cincinnati’s Ja’Marr Chase is the fourth wide receiver to be selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his first four seasons since 1970, joining Tyreek Hill (first eight seasons), A.J. Green (first seven) and Isaac Curtis (first four).
Dallas’ Micah Parsons is the first defensive player to be named to the Pro Bowl in each of his first four career seasons since Aaron Donald (first 10 seasons from 2014-23).
Twenty-four of the players selected to the Pro Bowl today are first-time all-stars, including rookies Brock Bowers (Las Vegas), Jayden Daniels (Washington) and Jared Verse (Los Angeles Rams).

PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for January 2025 Announced
Sony has announced the PlayStation Plus monthly games for January 2025 will be Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered, and The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe.
As detailed on PlayStation.Blog, all three of these games will be available on January 7 for PlayStation Plus members, with Suicide Squad arriving on PS5, Need for Speed racing to PS4, and Stanley Parable dropping on PS5 and PS4.

Minnesota Millionaire Raffle Winners Announced
ROSEVILLE (WJON News) — Two lucky Minnesota Millionaire Raffle players are waking up this morning to discover their tickets are worth $1 million.
The $1 million winning tickets were bought in Nowthen at Bill’s Superette and in Tracy at Casey’s General Store. Each business earned a $5,000 bonus for selling a winning ticket.
There was a $100,000 winning ticket sold at the Corner Grocery in St. Martin, a $50,000 winning ticket sold at the Kwik Trip in Delano, and a $25,000 ticket sold at the HolidayStation Store in St. Michael.
A total of 800,000 Minnesota Millionaire Raffle tickets went on sale October 22, 2024, and sold out in a record 15 days on November 5, 2024. This was the fastest sellout ever in the Minnesota Lottery’s history.
More than 15,000 additional winning numbers were also announced Wednesday morning, including five $100,000 prizes, five $50,000 prizes and five $25,000 prizes.
Prizes of $10,000, $25,000, and $50,000 can be claimed at any lottery office or by mail. The $100,000 and $1 million prizes must be claimed at the Minnesota Lottery headquarters in Roseville. The Minnesota Lottery recommends calling ahead to verify hours and make an appointment.

Dublin Comic Con Spring Edition announced Rick and Morty star Chris Parnell for 2025
Dublin Comic Con continues its guest announcements with the addition of another Rick and Morty star who is also known for a slew of other iconic series, Chris Parnell!
The 57-year-old will be Dublin-bound this March for Spring Edition 2025 where geeks from all over the country (and world) will descend onto the Convention Centre to meet friends and their favourite stars.
Parnell primarily voices the character of Jerry Smith in the hit Adult Swim series, who is constantly put down by his father-in-law (and the rest of his family), but is also famed for being a cast member on the hit sketch show, Saturday Night Live.

Before taking on the role of Jerry Smith, Parnell was probably best known for his work on Archer as Cyril Figgis as well as some other minor characters in the show.
It’s not just voice acting people will know him for either as Chris has also made recent appearances in the Lindsay Lohan Christmas film for Netflix, Our Little Secret as the vet who helps Avery hide her cookie secret.

Idaho $1 Million Raffle winners announced tonight
BOISE, Idaho — Tonight, The Idaho Lottery posted the winning numbers for its annual Idaho $1,000,000 Raffle. The winning numbers are 063647 and 116293. The prize winners of the Idaho Lottery’s 18th iteration of the raffle were announced tonight at 5:59 p.m. MT, December 30th.
According to the Idaho Lottery Commission, raffle tickets were on sale for 47 days, culminating in a sell-out of the 450,000 tickets available in early December. In addition to the marquee cash prize, the raffle also includes some 17,850 prizes, the most ever offered by the Idaho Lottery. The secondary award includes two $10,000 prizes, followed by a series of lesser cash prizes from $100 to $15.
The director of the Idaho Lottery, Andrew Arulanandam would like to remind players to sign their tickets and place them in a safe place.
While all eyes are on the grand prize, there are still a significant amount of $1,000 prizes that have yet to be claimed. You can find those winning numbers below.
