  • Winter Storm in San Antonio; freezing rain, sleet and snow

As for Bexar County, right now the bulk of the activity is in the southern half of Bexar but moving north slowly. A mix of light freezing rain and sleet. Bridges, overpasses and flyovers will get icy in short order as it spreads over.

Otherwise, many reports of light ice glazing and sleet accumulation in the eastern half of our area have come in. Southern sections seeing some icing now and starting to get a few reports of a light mix in our western third of the area toward Uvalde to Zavala County.

As the low deepens along the coast, the shield of precipitation will continue to expand across most of the viewing area. The only areas that may be left out are the western Hill Country to Val Verde County which could end up on the outer margin of the precip shield. Through the night, a healthy mix of ice or snow will fall with a period of possibly just snow before it ends quickly through daybreak Tuesday.

Total accumulation will range from a dusting to 1″ or so in and around Bexar County. A couple spots in our eastern zone counties could see 2″ or more of accumulation if mesoscale banding of heavier snow develops. There will also be a light ice glaze accumulation from .01″ to .10″ in our area.

Travel will be very slick early Tuesday then improve by later in the morning and should be in good shape for the afternoon as the sun melts and dries out roadways.

The Heat are 8-2 against the Spurs since January of 2020, and they’ll have a chance to extend that success on Sunday. The Miami Heat will host the San Antonio Spurs at 3:00 p.m. ET at Kaseya Center. Both of these teams will be looking for a pick-me-up after considerable defeats in their previous games.

The Heat are headed into Sunday’s match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They suffered a bruising 133-113 defeat at the hands of the Nuggets.

The experts predicted a close game and a win for the Spurs on Friday, but boy were they wrong. They suffered a grim 140-112 loss to the Grizzlies. The contest was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly San Antonio was thoroughly outmatched 78-48 in the second half.

Miami’s defeat dropped their record down to 20-20. As for San Antonio, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 19-21 record this season.

The Heat beat the Spurs 116-104 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Will the Heat repeat their success, or do the Spurs have a better game plan this time around? We’ll find out soon enough.

  • Game Preview: San Antonio Spurs at Miami Heat

The last few weeks haven’t been kind to the San Antonio Spurs. Back-to-back blowout losses to the Memphis Grizzlies leave them two games below .500 and losers in four of their last five games. Somehow, it’s still better than what’s happening in South Beach.

The Miami Heat leads the league in bad vibes. Jimmy Butler is back after a seven-game suspension for breaking team policy. The Heat’s best player hasn’t looked engaged since requesting a trade earlier this year. Without Butler, Miami has focused on establishing its youth as the franchise’s core. Tyler Herro is having a career year, Bam Adebayo is a defensive anchor, and young pieces like Nikola Jovic and Jaime Jaquez Jr. have shown flashes.

The Heat are a formidable opponent with Erik Spoelstra at the helm, regardless of who is on the roster. Still, they’ll be a step down from the competition the Spurs have faced in January, especially from teams like Memphis. San Antonio’s schedule doesn’t get much easier from here as a trip to Paris looms. The Spurs have an opportunity to steal a win on the road against a Miami team just trying to stay out of the headlines.

Spurs Injuries: Jeremy Sochan – Out (back), Riley Minix – Out (G League), David Duke Jr. – Out (G League), Harrison Ingram – Out (G League)

Heat Injuries: Bam Adebayo – Available (back), Josh Christopher – Questionable (G League), Josh Richardson – Out (heel), Dru Smith – Out (achilles), Isaiah Stevens – Out (G League)

    What to watch for:

    Winning the hustle game

They don’t call them the toughest, best-conditioned, meanest franchise in the NBA for nothing. #HeatCulture will be out in full force on Sunday. San Antonio has to rise to the challenge. In all seriousness, the Heat are a top-10 defensive team in the NBA. Adebayo is a defensive force, and they have enough weapons around him to cause opposing teams headaches. San Antonio’s offense has been anything but consistent lately. That will need to change to overcome a tough Heat team.

    Containing the three-point line

In two straight games against Memphis, the Spurs got lit up from three. The Heat are eighth in the NBA in three-pointers per game. Herro is a threat off the dribble, Duncan Robinson is one of the league’s best movement shooters, and Haywood Highsmith is a nice three-and-D wing. The Spurs must contain ball handlers and get out to shooters to keep Miami from getting hot.

    Getting Wembanyama going

Victor Wembanyama has taken a step back after putting up insane stats in December. He seemed to float in and out of the game offensively against Memphis. Mitch Johnson should make a concerted effort to get his superstar big man back on track against Miami. Watch to see if San Antonio runs more intentional action to get Wembanyama the ball in spots where he’s comfortable, either on the perimeter or in the paint. A bounce-back Wembanyama performance could get him back on track before he heads home later this week.

The San Antonio Spurs are set to take on the Miami Heat in an exciting matchup tonight. Both teams have been playing well recently, with the Spurs winning six of their last eight games and the Heat winning four of their last five.

The Spurs will be looking to continue their strong play and build on their recent success. DeMar DeRozan has been a key player for San Antonio, averaging 21.2 points per game this season. The Spurs will also be relying on the playmaking abilities of point guard Dejounte Murray, who is averaging 6.9 assists per game.

The Heat, on the other hand, will be looking to bounce back from a tough loss to the Milwaukee Bucks in their last game. Jimmy Butler has been leading the way for Miami, averaging 21.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game. The Heat will also be looking for strong performances from Bam Adebayo and Duncan Robinson.

This game has the potential to be a close and exciting matchup between two evenly matched teams. Both the Spurs and the Heat have strong rosters and will be looking to come out on top. Make sure to tune in tonight to see who comes out on top in this battle between two playoff contenders.

  • Nicole Kidman discusses bond with Antonio Banderas in ‘Babygirl’; ‘I felt like we’d been married our entire lives’

Nicole Kidman is going through an incredible moment in her career. The Australian actress has met all manner of acclaim with her new film “Babygirl,” where she plays a powerful CEO involved in a romantic relationship with a young intern. The film shows a new side of herself to the world, something that she’s described as terrifying and exhilarating as a professional actor who’s been making movies for the past 40 years.

In an interview with Fotograma, Kidman opened up about the process of making the film, including the bond she developed with her onscreen husband Antonio Banderas.

When discussing the film’s approach to masculinity, Kidman was quick to praise the men she worked with, including Harris Dickinson, who plays the role of the young intern, and Banderas.

“This was the great fortune of finding men like Harris, who walked into the kitchen and said ‘Here I am, I’m yours.’ And Antonio, who gave us the okay from the start,” reports the outlet in Spanish. “I saw him and I felt like we’d been married forever. That he was someone with experience.”

What does Kidman think of the possibility of an Oscar nomination?

The interview also addressed Kidman’s odds of acquiring an Oscar nomination. While she seemed happy by the positive acclaim that the film met, she made it clear that Oscar recognition is not the reason why she took on these parts.

“As an actress, I’m always looking for new paths that take me somewhere I’ve never been. Exploring new territories with people I trust. That’s what we did in ‘Babygirl’”.

Kidman is one of the world’s most beloved actresses, acquiring five Oscar nominations throughout her career, for the films “Moulin Rouge,” “The Hours,” “Rabbit Hole,” “Lion,” and “Being The Ricardos.” She’s won the award once, for “The Hours,” in the year 2002.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Nicole Kidman opened up about her experience working with Antonio Banderas on their upcoming film ‘Babygirl’. The Australian actress revealed that she felt an instant connection with Banderas and that their bond on set was unlike anything she had ever experienced before.

“I felt like we’d been married our entire lives,” Kidman gushed. “There was just this undeniable chemistry between us that made every scene we shot together feel incredibly natural and authentic.”

‘Babygirl’ tells the story of a forbidden romance between a young woman and an older man, played by Banderas. Kidman plays the woman’s mother, who struggles to come to terms with her daughter’s relationship.

Despite the controversial subject matter of the film, Kidman and Banderas approached their roles with sensitivity and depth, creating a complex and nuanced portrayal of their characters’ emotions.

“I have so much respect for Antonio as an actor and as a person,” Kidman said. “Working with him on ‘Babygirl’ was a truly unforgettable experience and I can’t wait for audiences to see the magic we created together on screen.”

‘Babygirl’ is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival later this year, and fans of Kidman and Banderas are eagerly anticipating the chance to see these two talented actors bring their undeniable chemistry to the big screen.

  • Game Preview: San Antonio Spurs vs. Memphis Grizzlies

The San Antonio Spurs were itching for a rematch after a 129-115 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. Devin Vassell made that very clear in his post-game remarks.

“I can’t wait – let’s play them again and again and again,” Vassell said. “Those games when you’re chirping and going back and forth, you grow up playing like that, and that’s exciting. … As soon as that jump ball goes up, I know it’s gonna be a good one.”

San Antonio will have its chance at revenge on Friday night. The Spurs will likely have a chip on their shoulders after an intense game on Wednesday. Victor Wembanyama will have something to prove after the sports world went nuts over Ja Morant’s dunk on him, even if it didn’t technically count.

It’s fitting this game between two exciting young teams will be nationally broadcast. The basketball world will be watching to see if any more sparks fly in an explosive matchup.

San Antonio Spurs (19-20) vs. Memphis Grizzlies (26-15)

    January 17, 2025 | 8:30 PM CT

Watch: ESPN | Listen: WOAI (1200 AM)

Spurs Injuries: Jeremy Sochan – Out (back) Riley Minix – Out (G League), Harrison Ingram – Out (G League)

Grizzlies Injuries: Ja Morant – Questionable (knee), GG Jackson – Out (G League), Marcus Smart – Out (finger), Cam Spencer – Out (thumb), Vince Williams Jr. – Out (ankle), Zyon Pullin – Out (G League)

    What to watch for:

    Defending the perimeter

The Grizzlies gashed the Spurs continuously on dribble drives in their last matchup. That led to easy points in the paint or good looks for shooters on kickouts. Memphis outscored San Antonio in the paint 62-42 and shot 42.1% from three. San Antonio has to do a better job containing the perimeter, or their defense will fall apart. Especially against Memphis, who have the stretch bigs to make Wembanyama pay for protecting the rim. Keeping the Grizzlies out of the paint will be key to a Spurs victory.

Getting the most out of Stephon Castle

Stephon Castle is back in a big way. He followed up a 24-point performance against the Los Angeles Lakers with a career-high 26 points against Memphis. He’s gotten back on track by aggressively attacking the basket and being smarter about finding his angles in the paint. He’s taken care of the basketball and used his strong body to open up opportunities for himself. San Antonio desperately needs more offensive consistency outside of Wembanyama. Another big night from Castle would do them wonders.

    Winning the bench minutes

The Grizzlies bench crushed the Spurs. It wasn’t just San Antonio’s second unit that got beat up, it was the starters, too. Santi Aldama and Luke Kennard made life miserable for the Spurs with 20 points and 15 points, respectively. San Antonio has to win the minutes when the Grizzlies starters aren’t on the floor. Memphis’ depth is some of the best in the NBA, so the Spurs have a big challenge ahead of them again on Friday.

T.J. Watt has made Pittsburgh Steelers history yet again. The All-Pro pass-rusher was named the team’s MVP for the 2024 season, marking the fifth time he’s earned the honor—a franchise record. Watt continues to solidify his legacy as one of the greatest defensive players in Steelers‘ history and an NFL icon.

This season, Watt was a game-changer week in and week out. He racked up 11.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, and multiple key plays in critical moments. Whether it was harassing quarterbacks, shutting down the run, or rallying the defense with his relentless energy, Watt was the heartbeat of the Steelers’ success.

Breaking the previous record of four team MVP awards, shared by Antonio Brown, Watt’s achievement reflects his consistent dominance. He also earned the award from 2019-2021 and 2023. His leadership extended beyond the field, mentoring younger players and setting the standard for work ethic and excellence.

Steelers fans know the team can win as long as Watt is on the field. His 2024 MVP honor cements his place among the franchise’s all-time greats and reinforces his reputation as the NFL’s premier defensive player. The sky remains the limit for this Steelers superstar.

This achievement solidifies Watt’s place in Steelers history and cements his status as one of the most dominant defensive players in the NFL.

Watt’s relentless pass-rushing ability and tenacity on the field have made him a fan favorite in Pittsburgh, and his record-breaking performance only adds to his growing legacy. As he continues to wreak havoc on opposing quarterbacks, there’s no telling how many more records he’ll shatter in the years to come.

  • Antonio Brown uses racial slur toward Notre Dame player Charles Du

Antonio Brown uses racial slur toward Notre Dame player Charles Du

Controversial former NFL receiver Antonio Brown used a racial slur to describe Notre Dame junior cornerback Charles Du in a post on X.

“C–k of the Day #CTESPN,” Brown wrote in a quote tweet of an ESPN X post showing Du’s jersey with his name spelled out in Chinese prior to Notre Dame’s 23-10 win over Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.

“A Legend… got an NIL deal for this kid. Tag his X for me.”

Du hails from Beijing and attended high school in California before joining Notre Dame as a walk-on.

He has not appeared in a game this season.

Notre Dame’s jerseys do not usually have players’ names on the back, but the Fighting Irish have opted to do so for their two College Football Playoff (CFP) matchups.

Du’s jersey Thursday highlighted his heritage.

Brown, who starred for the Steelers and also played for the Patriots and Buccaneers, has developed a reputation in his post-playing days for making controversial comments on X.

Examples include him going after Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce and pop star girlfriend Taylor Swift, taking shots at Fever star Caitlin Clark, ripping Tom Brady and his ex-wife Gisele Bundchen and comparing former Steelers offensive coordinator Matt Canada to Adolf Hitler.

Notre Dame’s win Thursday over second-seeded Georgia secured a spot in the CFP semifinal opposite Penn State, which triumphed over Boise State in its quarterfinal clash.

The Fighting Irish previously defeated Indiana, 27-17, in the first round.

Notre Dame has since opened as a 1.5-point favorite at DraftKings over the Nittany Lions for their Jan. 9 clash in the Orange Bowl in Miami Gardens, Fla.

Ohio State is favored against Texas in the other semifinal clash in the Cotton Bowl in Arlington, Texas on Jan. 10.

The national title game is set for Jan. 20 in Atlanta.

Antonio Brown, a professional football player, has come under fire after using a racial slur towards Notre Dame player Charles Du during a heated exchange on social media.

In a now-deleted tweet, Brown referred to Du using a derogatory term, sparking outrage and condemnation from fans and fellow athletes alike. Many have called for Brown to apologize and take accountability for his actions.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of respect and decency, both on and off the field. Racism has no place in sports or any aspect of society, and it is crucial that all individuals, regardless of their platform or status, are held accountable for their words and actions.

As the story continues to unfold, it is our hope that Brown learns from this incident and takes steps to educate himself on the harmful impact of using racial slurs. Discrimination and bigotry have no place in the world of sports or anywhere else, and it is up to each of us to challenge and confront these issues whenever they arise.
