Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced Hollywood mogul whose sexual misconduct helped fuel the #MeToo movement, will face retrial in New York on rape charges on April 15, a judge announced Wednesday.
Weinstein, 72, was convicted in 2020 in New York of the third-degree rape of one woman and a first-degree criminal sex act against another woman and sentenced to 23 years in prison. That conviction was overturned last April after a state appellate court, in a 4-3 decision, determined that the trial judge had erred by allowing women to testify about allegations that were not part of the case.
In September, a New York City grand jury indicted Weinstein on new charges.
Judge Curtis Farber said Wednesday that Weinstein’s retrial willinclude a new allegation involving a woman who wasn’t in the original case. The woman alleges he forced oral sex on her at a Manhattan hotel in 2006.
Weinstein is being held at the Rikers Island jail complex. He arrived in the Manhattan courtroom Wednesday in a wheelchair amid a litany of health issues. NBC News was first to report last year that he has chronic myeloid leukemia.
During the court hearing, Weinstein pushed for an earlier trial date, citing his health.
“I won’t be there for April,” he said. “I can’t wait for tomorrow. I can’t hold on anymore. I am holding on because I want justice … I want this to be over with.”
Farber said he has another trial scheduled but would do his best to accommodate a date a week earlier if all parties agree. The judge also denied Weinstein’s attorney’s motion to dismiss the new indictment against him.
A spokesperson for Weinstein said in a statement after the hearing that “Judge Farber demonstrated exceptional responsiveness, and we deeply appreciate his thoughtful consideration of Harvey’s condition and circumstances. We remain confident in a swift and efficient trial process and firmly believe that Harvey will be fully exonerated.”
In addition to the New York case, Weinstein was found guilty of one count of rape and two counts of sexual assault in 2022 in Los Angeles and sentenced to 16 years. Weinstein’s legal team is appealing that conviction.
In all, more than 80 women have accused Weinstein of sexual assault or harassment. He has repeatedly denied the claims, insisting the encounters in question were consensual.
The charges against Weinstein were first reported in 2017 by The New York Times and The New Yorker. The articles inspired a wider reckoning in the entertainment and other high-profile industries.

Harvey Weinstein’s retrial on rape charges in New York is set for April 15
After a mistrial was declared in Harvey Weinstein’s rape case in New York last year, a retrial has been scheduled for April 15. The former Hollywood producer is facing charges of rape and sexual assault stemming from allegations made by multiple women.
Weinstein, once a powerful figure in the film industry, has been accused by numerous women of sexual misconduct and abuse over the years. The #MeToo movement brought many of these allegations to light, leading to his downfall and eventual arrest.
The upcoming retrial is expected to be closely watched, as it will once again shine a spotlight on the issue of sexual harassment and abuse in the entertainment industry. Weinstein’s defense team is likely to argue that the encounters were consensual, while the prosecution will present evidence of non-consensual behavior.
As the trial date approaches, there is sure to be much speculation and media coverage surrounding Weinstein and the allegations against him. Stay tuned for updates on this high-profile case.

On Apr. 17, 2025, EA‘s game platform Origin will be shutting down, leading players to migrate to the EA App. This comes as a result of a lack of support for the service, which is outdated and has not been favored among players. To maintain access to their previously saved data and games, any remaining Origin users will have to switch to the EA App, which is still supported.
While the number of players this may apply to may be minimal, it could be frustrating to those still using the service who are unaware of the change. The reason for the shutdown is a result of Microsoft’s lack of support for 32-bit software, according to a statement from EA. Microsoft now only supports software that’s 64-bit and up, rendering Origin obsolete. Players without a processor that can run 64-bit programs are unfortunately out of luck as the technology becomes more and more outdated.
Steam has tons of great video games from the 1990s, including Doom and Fallout 2.
Luckily, the process for transferring from Origin to the EA App is simple. Players just need to install the EA App and log in with the same credentials that they would on Origin. Once logged in, all previously owned games and data should be transferred to the EA App. EA felt the need to point out that players only need to redownload their content if they switch to a new device to use the EA App, but simply changing operating systems will still allow content to carry over.
On EA’s website, it also states that downloading the EA App will uninstall Origin at the same time. This should make the migration process simple, rather than having to manually uninstall the Origin app or forgetting to do so entirely.
What’s the Difference Between Origin and the EA App?
Image via EA
The main difference between the new EA App and the old Origin launcher is mainly their compatibility. They both serve as a way to get into your EA-published games in one place, but the EA App is simply more modern than Origin. The app only takes users so far, however, because browsing the catalog of games on the EA App redirects users to the EA website where games can be purchased, unlike platforms like Steam where players can buy, install and play games from the same place.
While the EA App is replacing Origin for PC users, Mac users are still able to use Origin depending on what macOS version they’re running. macOS Mojave and older will still be able to use Origin, as the 32-bit issue does not apply the same way to Mac users as it does for Windows machines.
While macOS Mojave is currently unsupported on new Mac devices with the latest version being from 2021, users still using it or any earlier versions will still be able to use the Origin service. Later versions of macOS will still be required to move to the EA App, which should still uninstall Origin from their devices.
While there may not be many players who are relying on Origin to access their favorite games, this shutdown is the final nail in the coffin for the old game launcher. Although not many people are likely to miss it, the EA App will be there to fill the void, however small it is.
It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the shutdown of EA Origins, effective April 1st. This decision was not made lightly, but unfortunately, due to a lack of support and declining user numbers, we are unable to continue operating the platform.
We understand that this news may come as a disappointment to many of our loyal users, and we want to express our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this may cause. We truly appreciate the support and loyalty you have shown us over the years.
We encourage all users to download and save any of their purchased games or saved data before the shutdown date. After April 1st, the EA Origins platform will no longer be accessible, and all accounts will be permanently closed.
Thank you for your understanding and support. We are grateful for the time we have spent with you on EA Origins and hope to continue providing you with quality gaming experiences in the future.
Bob Dylan — the real one, not the actor playing him on screens — is finally bringing his Neverending Tour back home to Minnesota in 2025.
The Iron Range native will play his first home state gig in six years at the site of his last show here, Mankato’s Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center, on April 4. Tickets for the Friday night concert at the downtown hockey arena go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster.com at prices not yet revealed. Seats to most of his shows of late have gone for about $75-$200.
Dylan, 83, has kept up momentum on the road in recent years, including a well-received appearance last summer at Somerset Amphitheater in western Wisconsin with Willie Nelson. But he hasn’t been back to Minnesota on tour since before the pandemic.
“He was focused, impassioned and arguably singing at his best in decades,” Star Tribune music critic Jon Bream wrote of that 2019 concert in Mankato — a reaction shared by many Dylanophiles after that show and at most of his other tour dates around the country since then.
While Bob himself seems to be enjoying some kind of musical upswing on stage in the 2020s, demand for his concert tickets certainly will be higher in 2025 following the widespread response to the new Oscar-nominated biopic on his early ‘60s incubatory period, “A Complete Unknown.” The first date he announced for 2025 — a March 25 date in Tulsa, Okla., in conjunction with the new museum there, the Bob Dylan Center — sold out fast when it went on sale last week.
Instead of playing bigger venues in bigger cities in response to this certain revival, though, Dylan is being Dylan. He’s choosing instead to play smaller sites and cities, also including Witchita, Kan., on March 29 and Green Bay, Wis., on April 6. There’s a chance more Midwest dates could be added later; but don’t count on it.
Some of the Twin Cities musicians who performed on Dylan’s only Minnesota-made album, “Blood on the Tracks,” took the stage this past weekend at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa with an all-star cast for a 50th anniversary celebration of the record. Clips are circulating all over social media (see one below) showing Kevin Odegard, Gregg Inhofer and Billy Peterson along with Paul Metsa performing with the likes of Elvis Costello and the War on Drugs’ Adam Granduciel.
Legendary singer-songwriter Bob Dylan is set to return to Mankato this April for his first concert in Minnesota in six years. The iconic musician will be performing at the Mankato Civic Center on April 15th, treating fans to a night of his timeless classics and new material.
Dylan, who was born in Duluth, Minnesota, has a special connection to the state and his return to Mankato is sure to be a memorable event for both longtime fans and new listeners alike. Known for his poetic lyrics and distinctive voice, Dylan has been a major influence on generations of musicians and continues to be a vital force in the music industry.
Tickets for the concert are sure to sell out quickly, so be sure to grab yours as soon as they go on sale. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see a living legend perform in your own backyard. Bob Dylan’s concert in Mankato is sure to be a night to remember.

TL;DR: EA has officially discontinued its Origin store and launcher, requiring users to transition to the EA app by April 2025. This will mostly apply to Mac gamers, who still used Origin as the EA app didn’t support Macs – until now. However, a niche set of 32-bit Windows users may also be affected here.
EA has finally pulled the plug (for good) on its Origin games store and launcher, although this isn’t a shock, given that the application has been on life support for a long time now, since its replacement by the EA app.

Anyone still running Origin (which first debuted way back in 2011) will have to shift over to the EA app before the April 2025 deadline now set for Origin’s demise.
As flagged by Neowin, EA has just confirmed: “On April 17, 2025, Origin will shut down, as Microsoft has stopped supporting 32-bit software. If you use Origin, you need to upgrade to the EA app, which requires a 64-bit version of Windows.”
When switching over to the EA app, transferring your games and account is as simple as just logging into the application with your Origin user credentials.
Games and cloud saves will be ported over, as will details such as your in-game hours played. What might be more problematic is any mods applied to your games, and EA suggests that you should “check with mod creators to see if your content can be transferred.”
EA actually began the process of pushing those still using Origin over to the EA app back in 2022, with a pop-up prompting gamers to install the latter. However, it was possible to still keep running Origin for some time (and fudge a workaround to disable said pop-up from continually bugging you).
By this point in time, though, the only folks left using Origin will be Mac gamers pretty much, as they weren’t covered by the EA app, but now support has been brought in for macOS. (And also those on 32-bit Windows, for which support has been dropped as noted).
So, Origin had already been pretty much killed off anyway, but this is the final nail in the coffin.
April 17, 2025: The Day of the Full Shut Down
On this fateful day, the world will come to a standstill as a full shut down of all systems and services is set to take place. Governments, businesses, and individuals around the globe have been preparing for this unprecedented event, but the true impact remains to be seen.
As the clock ticks closer to the designated time, speculation and theories run rampant. Will this shut down be the result of a cyber attack? Or perhaps a coordinated effort to reset the world’s systems for a fresh start? The possibilities are endless, and the uncertainty only adds to the tension in the air.
For some, the full shut down is met with fear and anxiety. How will they navigate a world without technology, communication, or basic services? For others, it is seen as an opportunity for a much-needed reset and reevaluation of our reliance on technology.
Regardless of how individuals view this impending shut down, one thing is for certain: April 17, 2025 will be a day that goes down in history. Stay tuned for updates and prepare for the unknown. The full shut down is coming. Are you ready?
EA announced that it’s finally shutting down the Origin app on April 17, 2025, after a 14-year run and is asking its users to download the EA app instead. EA said it’s making this move because Microsoft has stopped supporting 32-bit software and that users must download a 64-bit version of Windows 10 or use Windows 11 to use the EA app.
While you can install a 32-bit app on Windows 11, which is 64-bit only, you’ll have to run it through the operating system’s compatibility features. This means you’ll likely encounter issues, especially as games are more complicated than the average app. This move will also be a problem for the average user who doesn’t know they’re running a 32-bit version of Windows 10 and their system does not have TPM 2.0. That’s because Windows 11 officially does not support devices without this security feature, although Microsoft eventually allowed it to be installed on them (but with several caveats).
But if your PC does support Windows 11, your next best option is to finally upgrade to the newer operating system — which you can do for free or less than $15. You can install the EA App, which automatically transfers your account and game titles. Aside from that, you don’t have to transfer your saved files if you’re moving to a new device if you’ve already activated cloud saves. But if not, or if your games do not support this feature, you’ll have to manually transfer them to ensure you do not lose any progress.
Some would say that you should switch to a 32-bit Linux operating system if you don’t want to deal with the hardware requirements for Windows 11. While the old Origin app didn’t natively support Linux, there were ways to install it using Steam and Proton. However, because EA is ending support for the Origin app, you can no longer use it even if you switch to a 32-bit Linux operating system.
Microsoft’s move to end support for Windows 10 will affect millions of users who do not have supported hardware, and now it’s apparent that it will also impact older apps that do not have 64-bit versions. We don’t expect any company to support old software that no longer makes money continuously. However, it’s sad to see that the always-connected nature of these digital distribution platforms means that users who cannot keep up with new hardware requirements will be left out in the dark.

Electronic Arts (EA) has announced that it will be shutting down the Origin app on April 2025. The company is urging all users to migrate to the new EA app in order to continue accessing their favorite games and content.
The decision to shut down the Origin app comes as part of EA’s ongoing efforts to streamline their services and provide a more seamless experience for users. The new EA app will offer all of the same features and functionality as Origin, with some additional enhancements to improve the overall user experience.
Users who currently have an Origin account will be able to easily migrate their account to the new EA app, ensuring that they can continue to access their game library, friends list, and other important features. EA has stated that they will provide detailed instructions on how to complete the migration process closer to the shutdown date.
Overall, this move is aimed at providing a more cohesive and user-friendly experience for EA’s gaming community. By migrating to the new EA app, users can continue to enjoy their favorite games and content without any interruptions.
