  • Mikel Arteta would be making the worst mistake of the season if he starts one Arsenal star vs Girona

Arsenal travel to Spain to take on Girona in their final league phase game of this season’s Champions League.

The Gunners have had their problems in the Premier League, but they have been fantastic in Europe. They are third in the table going into the final game week and are almost certain to automatically qualify for the knockout stage of the competition.

Girona were one of the surprise packages in La Liga last season. They finished third, but things have been a bit more difficult this campaign – they are currently eighth in Spain and 31st in the Champions League.

Arsenal, however, are still expected to name a strong lineup, but one player simply must not play on Wednesday night.

Mikel Arteta should rest Kai Havertz for Girona vs Arsenal

Kai Havertz is one of Arsenal’s most important players.

The Germany international has played 31 games in all competitions for Arsenal this season, and he has barely had a break recently.

Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka’s injuries have forced him to play every minute of every game over the last few weeks, and that has not been ideal at all.

At the end of the win against Wolves last weekend, Havertz looked shattered and fell to the ground right after the full-time whistle. Two Arsenal physios had to help him up.

It is clear that Havertz needs a break.

Yes, Arsenal don’t have a proper replacement for him, but pushing him to start against Girona in a game in which a point is enough to qualify would be silly.

If Arteta risks Havertz and the German gets injured, it would make the decision the worst of the season by a country mile.

That cannot happen. Arsenal’s season will be over on all fronts if they lose Havertz.

Arsenal have an academy star who can replace Kai Havertz vs Girona

Jesus’ injury means Arsenal don’t have a natural centre-forward right now.

Leandro Trossard can play there as a false nine, while Gabriel Martinelli can also slot in to replace Havertz if he is rested on Wednesday night.

However, there is also an Arsenal Academy graduate who deserves a chance.

Nathan Butler-Oyedeji came on as a substitute in Arsenal’s last Champions League game, and we think he should get a start against Girona.

However, whether Arteta will consider that remains to be seen.

In an upcoming friendly match against Girona, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta would be making the worst mistake of the season if he decides to start one particular Arsenal star. This player has been underperforming consistently and has failed to impress in recent matches.

Despite being given multiple chances to prove himself, this player has failed to deliver the level of performance expected from an Arsenal player. Starting him in a match against Girona would not only jeopardize the team’s chances of winning but also send a message that poor performances will be tolerated.

It is crucial for Arteta to make tough decisions and prioritize the team’s success over individual interests. By benching this underperforming star and giving other players a chance to shine, Arteta can show that mediocrity will not be accepted at Arsenal.

Ultimately, Arteta’s decision to start this player against Girona could have serious repercussions for the team’s performance and morale. It is imperative that he makes the right choice and puts the team’s success first.

¡Vamos Gunners!

  • Mikel Arteta targeting £48k a week Premier League star who Arsenal once rejected as a teenager

Arsenal are preparing to face Manchester City in a huge Premier League clash as Mikel Arteta prepares to face his old friend Pep Guardiola once again.

The previous encounter was a feisty affair that ended in a 2-2 draw where Guardiola praised Arteta’s tactics after Leandro Trossard was sent off for delaying the restart by Michael Oliver.

In the aftermath of the game the Gunners were accused of producing the ‘dark arts’ of football with John Stones calling Arsenal ‘dirty’ after he found an equaliser with the last kick of the game.

The build up to this clash has been much more serene, attentions for both clubs have been on the transfer market as Arsenal had a bid rejected for Ollie Watkins. It seems that Mikel Arteta is not giving up on his aim of strengthening his Arsenal squad.

Arsenal interested in signing Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo

According to the Independent, Arsenal are interested in signing Antoine Semenyo from Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth, a player that Arsenal released as a teenager following a trial.

The report claims that Arsenal ‘greatly admire’ Semenyo and is on their list of wide forwards to bring in. The deal may have to be a summer purchase however, given the reluctance of Bournemouth to sell this late in the January window and he is a key component of their impressive season.

Arsenal are set to sign Martin Zubimendi already in the summer and it is widely thought that Benjamin Sesko will also be a priority signing for Arteta come the end of the season.

This doesn’t take away the fact that Arsenal need reinforcements in this window and with Semenyo having scored eight goals in all competitions this season and been in sensational form for his current side.

Semenyo would be an upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard

Should Arsenal manage to bring their interest forward into January, Semenyo would be an upgrade on current wingers Gabriel Martinelli and Trossard.

Semenyo’s pace, power and ability to take on defenders has meant that he has outperformed the Arsenal duo in a number of key attacking metrics this season.

Arteta is doing everything he can to bring in another attacking option before the transfer deadline comes and goes, Arsenal are interested in Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich as well as Watkins.

The Gunners want the right fit for their squad and someone who will bring quality to their push for silverware but a body is a must as their attacking talents look jaded and in need of a boost.

Mikel Arteta targeting £48k a week Premier League star who Arsenal once rejected as a teenager

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly eyeing a move for a Premier League star who the Gunners once rejected as a teenager. The player in question is currently earning £48,000 a week and has caught the eye of Arteta with his performances this season.

Despite being turned down by Arsenal in his younger years, Arteta believes that the player has developed into a top talent and could be a valuable addition to the squad. The player’s impressive form has not gone unnoticed by other top clubs, but Arteta is determined to bring him to the Emirates.

While negotiations are still ongoing, it is believed that the player is keen on a move to Arsenal and could be swayed by the prospect of working under Arteta. • Arsenal ‘Hold Talks’ to Sign ‘One of the Best Strikers in the World’ for Arteta

Arsenal have internally discussed a potential January move for Lille striker Jonathan David, according to MailOnline.

The Gunners, alongside Newcastle United, are reportedly considering the 25-year-old, who has entered the final six months of his contract in France.

Arsenal are thought to be prioritising a striker signing in the final days of the January transfer window, having lost Gabriel Jesus to a season-ending injury earlier this month.

They seem unlikely to strike a blockbuster deal to sign one of their primary targets, Alexander Isak or Benjamin Sesko, and may look at cheaper options before the deadline on February 3.

According to MailOnline, Arsenal have David firmly among other names on their shortlist, including Isak, Sesko and Wolves star Matheus Cunha.

The Gunners could look to strike a low-cost deal for the Canadian international, though it remains to be seen if David himself would be keen on a mid-season move.

According to GIVEMESPORT sources, the 25-year-old would like to keep his options open until the summer, even if Lille would entertain cashing in on their star forward at the very last opportunity.

The 25-year-old, labelled ‘one of the best strikers in the world’ by Tony Marinaro, has been in excellent form for Lille this season and is currently joint second-top scorer in Ligue 1 with 11 goals in 18 appearances.

The Brooklyn-born ace is also Lille’s leading scorer in the Champions League, having registered five goals and one assist in seven games.

Aside from any potential new signings, Arsenal could see one or two first-team departures in the coming months, with full-backs Kieran Tierney and Oleksandr Zinchenko now targets for European clubs.

The Scotsman is reportedly being eyed by Celtic on loan until the end of the season, while Zinchenko has suitors at Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

  • Arsenal make shock bid for Ollie Watkins: Aston Villa reject offer for star striker as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his attacking force before the transfer window slams shut

Arsenal have launched a stunning swoop for Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins ahead of next week’s transfer deadline.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is a long-term admirer of the England international and the club have now moved for the 29-year-old.

It is understood Arsenal have made an initial offer for Watkins which has been rejected but an improved attempt is expected.

Watkins still has three years to run on his existing deal at Villa Park and is a key player for Unai Emery’s side.

However, a move to Arsenal may appeal to Watkins, who has admitted he grew up as an Arsenal fan.

Whilst playing for Brentford, the forward said in 2020: ‘That’s the dream, to play for Arsenal one day. But, you know, it’s a long shot.’

Nevertheless, Emirates chiefs have identified the forward as the man they believe can ignite their title challenge as they look to haul down Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table.

Villa, however, will believe they are in a strong position given Watkins’ contractual situation and it remains to be seen whether the Gunners can successfully pull off what would be one of the most eye-catching transfers of the January window.

Watkins has scored 10 goals in 31 appearances for Villa this season, one of those coming in the recent 2-2 draw against Arsenal at the Emirates.

In a surprising turn of events, Arsenal have made a shock bid for Aston Villa’s star striker Ollie Watkins. The Gunners are looking to bolster their attacking force before the transfer window slams shut, and have identified Watkins as a top target.

However, Aston Villa have swiftly rejected Arsenal’s offer for the talented forward, with manager Dean Smith determined to hold onto his key player. Watkins has been in impressive form for Villa since joining from Brentford last season, and has caught the eye of several top clubs with his performances.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is keen to add more firepower to his squad, and sees Watkins as a perfect fit for his attacking system. The Gunners have struggled for goals in recent seasons, and Arteta is hopeful that Watkins could provide the cutting edge they have been missing.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will make an improved offer for Watkins, or if they will turn their attention to other targets in the final days of the transfer window. But one thing is for sure – the Gunners are determined to strengthen their squad as they look to challenge for silverware this season.

  • Arsenal star insists he is enjoying the preferred role Arteta has picked for him

Riccardo Calafiori joined Arsenal following an outstanding season playing as a central defender for Bologna, a role he also excelled in for the Italy national team during Euro 2024. His impressive performances in the tournament caught the attention of Arsenal, who moved decisively to secure his signature in the last transfer window.

Calafiori arrived at the Emirates as one of the most highly regarded left-footed centre-backs in Europe, a player capable of adding balance and versatility to Arsenal’s defence. However, since his arrival, he has primarily been deployed as a left-back, a position he has embraced with enthusiasm despite being more accustomed to playing centrally.

The unshakeable partnership of Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba at the heart of Arsenal’s defence has made it difficult for Calafiori to claim a spot in the middle. Nevertheless, the Italian has adjusted to his new role with professionalism and determination, earning admiration from fans and coaches alike.

Arsenal star insists he is enjoying the preferred role Arteta has picked for him

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has expressed his satisfaction with the role that manager Mikel Arteta has assigned to him in the team. The Ghanaian international, who joined the Gunners in a big-money move from Atletico Madrid last summer, has been deployed in a more advanced position in recent matches.

Speaking to reporters, Partey said, “I am really enjoying the role that the manager has picked for me. I feel comfortable playing further up the pitch and contributing to the team’s attacking play. It allows me to showcase my passing range and creativity, as well as my defensive qualities.”

Partey’s performances in his new role have been impressive, with the 28-year-old providing assists and creating scoring opportunities for his teammates. Arteta has praised the midfielder for his adaptability and versatility, and it seems that Partey is relishing the challenge of playing in a different position.

With Arsenal aiming to secure a European spot in the Premier League this season, Partey’s form will be crucial in the team’s push for success. Fans will be hoping that he can continue to excel in his preferred role and help the Gunners achieve their objectives.

  • ‘Serious’ talks with Atletico Madrid ON, with Arteta given choice of two deals

Arsenal and Atletico Madrid are in ‘serious’ transfer talks and the two types of deal in play have been revealed – along with the expected transfer fee.

It’s been slow going thus far at The Emirates, though plenty of deals – both arrivals and exits – are in the works for the final stages of the winter window.

The Telegraph as well as our own sources at TEAMtalk have confirmed Kieran Tierney is on the cusp of signing a pre-contract agreement with former club Celtic.

It’s our understanding that Tierney could join Celtic this month via the loan route ahead of signing outright in the summer via the pre-contract agreement.

Elsewhere, fellow left-back, Oleksandr Zinchenko, has the green light to leave. Borussia Dortmund explored a deal, though according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, their interest has cooled.

That might not matter for Arsenal, however, with Plettenberg bringing news of Atletico Madrid stepping into the void.

Diego Simeone’s side have now entered ‘serious talks’ over Zinchenko’s signing and indicating their strong desire to strike a deal, they’re open to two methods of transfer Arsenal can pick between.

Taking to X, Plettenberg reported: “Understand that Atletico Madrid have now entered the race for Oleksandr Zinchenko.

“Serious talks are underway, with Atletico open to either a permanent deal or a loan with an obligation to buy. Current price valuation: €20m + add-ons. The 28-year-old left-back is keen to leave Arsenal.

“Dortmund remain in the race but are currently less active, as the package is too expensive and BVB are looking for a player who can also play as a centre-back.”

    What about arrivals?

Finding buyers for Tierney and Zinchenko is all well and good, but without arrivals, Arsenal will be no better-placed to overhaul Liverpool and lift their first Premier League trophy since 2004.

The main area of need in most people’s eyes – Mikel Arteta included – is the striker position.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano confirmed Arsenal ARE working on a major striker signing when providing his insight 10 days ago.

“For the January window, Arsenal are working on the striker position,” declared Romano on his YouTube channel.

“Mikel Arteta confirmed after the injury to Gabriel Jesus that Arsenal are working for a new addition. And I can tell you that in the last 24-48 hours there were many calls from Arsenal to ask about the situations of important players around Europe.

“So Arsenal are exploring opportunities for the striker position. Let’s see what they will be able to do, but for sure Arsenal are looking at that, work in progress.”

Arteta has since spoken publicly about Arsenal’s need for a new frontman on multiple occasions. The most recent of those instances came ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Wolves at Molineux on Saturday.

“My opinion is clear that we lost two very, very important players, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus. So we lack goals, we lack people, we lack options in the frontline, it’s clear,” Arteta said.

“It is clear that in the period that we lost them, ideally we need some help. We were short already and now we are even shorter. The team still copes with that.”

However, he said he would only do “what is right for the club” and is “actively looking” to “get the right player”.

“Any player, no,” he added. “[It has to be] someone that makes us better and has an impact in the team.”

The Gunners have been linked with all manner of strikers including Matheus Cunha, Dusan Vlahovic, Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko, Marcus Thuram and Alexander Isak.

However, the next signing Arsenal do make may actually come in midfield – and it won’t help the club’s title charge this season…

In a recent meeting with Atletico Madrid, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was faced with a tough decision as he was given the choice between two potential deals for his team. The talks were described as ‘serious’ as both parties discussed the potential transfer options.

The first deal on the table was for star midfielder Thomas Partey. Atletico Madrid were willing to sell the Ghanaian international to Arsenal, but the price tag was steep. Arteta had to carefully consider whether Partey’s addition to the squad would be worth the financial investment.

The second deal offered to Arteta was for versatile defender Kieran Trippier. The English full-back has been a key player for Atletico Madrid and could provide much-needed depth in the Arsenal defense. However, Arteta had to weigh the pros and cons of bringing in another defender versus bolstering the midfield.

In the end, Arteta had to make a tough decision between the two deals, knowing that either one could potentially strengthen his team. The ‘serious’ talks with Atletico Madrid left the Arsenal manager with a lot to consider as he looks to improve his squad for the upcoming season.

  • “It’s time to capitalise” – Arteta calls for focus as Gunners resume Euro quest – Arseblog News

After six Champions League group games, Arsenal sit third out of 36 teams and look well-positioned to secure a top-eight finish, which would see them bypass a two-legged knockout round play-off in February.

Given the Gunners’ hectic schedule, it’s a reward they are desperate to secure, especially as it would free up time in the calendar for a restorative mid-season trip to Dubai.

While it’s not guaranteed, Opta simulations suggest that 16 points should be enough to secure automatic qualification. A win against Dinamo Zagreb at the Emirates on Wednesday could prove decisive.

With that in mind, Mikel Arteta is calling for full focus.

“So far we’ve done really well, we’re in a really strong position and now it’s time to capitalise at home on all the work that we’ve done for many months,” he told his pre-game press conference.

“We need a strong performance today against a really good side, and we’ll try to do that.”

Asked about the prospect of a warm-weather training camp, he added: “My thinking is let’s do what we have to do first, which is always difficult because we’re talking about the Champions League, and if we manage to do that, obviously we’ll have the best ideas on the table to make the right decision, hopefully.

“It was very helpful [last year]. I mean, with the schedule that we had for the last three months, you can have a break and reset a little bit, work on things, and rest some people.”

Zagreb should pose an interesting challenge for Arteta and his backroom team. Since their last competitive game – a 3-2 domestic win over Varazdin on 22 December – they’ve sacked manager Sergej Jakirovic and brought in Italian legend Fabio Cannavaro.

The 51-year-old’s coaching career includes stints in Dubai, China, and Saudi Arabia, before an unsuccessful five months with Serie B outfit Benevento. He also had a brief spell at Udinese, helping them avoid relegation before parting ways.

In his new role, Cannavaro has only overseen a couple of friendly matches during the Croatian season’s traditional winter break.

“That’s the context of the game a little bit,” noted Arteta. “With a new coach and the fact that they haven’t played a competitive match for a month.

“Obviously, we know the games that they’ve played—their friendlies, we watched. And just to try to gather ideas and more principles, basically, than systems and formations, because Fabio’s played different formations in China compared to when he was in Italy, and now as well.

“So, [our task is] to actually understand what they’re going to do, not just the idea behind it. We’ll adapt to that tomorrow.”

As for who will pose the biggest threat for the visitors, all eyes will be on the highly-rated Martin Baturina. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has seven assists and two goals in 23 appearances this season and is tipped for a bright future.

“I don’t like to talk about individuals, but they do have a lot of talent. They have some individuals that catch your eye because you have in your head all the players that play in that club and what they’ve done in the past.

“So, yeah, it’s always a good league and a great club to follow.”

It should be an interesting occasion for Gabriel Magalhaes, who spent some time on loan with Zagreb from Lille in 2018. Having only played one game during that stint, he’ll be keen to show them what they missed.

On the topic of players who have represented both clubs, Eduardo da Silva visited London Colney today to meet the Arsenal squad.

The Brazil-born Croatia international was the first player to score a competitive goal at Emirates Stadium back in 2006, a feat that convinced Arsene Wenger to sign him. Known for his clinical finishing, he quickly became a fan favourite before that horrific leg break at Birmingham City nearly ended his career.

“We didn’t play together, but obviously it’s a really familiar face with a very specific history,” said Arteta. “He became very important and very loved here. And then, the career he had there. So, very good to see people coming back that they’ve been here with a big smile on their faces.”

“It’s time to capitalise” – Arteta calls for focus as Gunners resume Euro quest

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has called on his players to maintain their focus as they prepare to resume their Europa League campaign. The Gunners will face Benfica in the first leg of their round of 32 tie on Thursday, and Arteta is keen for his team to make the most of this opportunity.

Speaking ahead of the game, Arteta stressed the importance of capitalising on the momentum they have built in recent weeks. “We have been performing well in the league and we need to carry that form into Europe,” he said. “This is a crucial stage of the competition and we need to be at our best.”

Arsenal have been in impressive form in recent weeks, with key players such as Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe stepping up to the plate. Arteta will be hoping for more of the same from his players as they look to progress in the Europa League.

With a top-four finish in the Premier League looking increasingly unlikely, the Europa League represents Arsenal’s best chance of qualifying for next season’s Champions League. Arteta knows the importance of this competition and will be urging his players to give their all in pursuit of success.

As the Gunners gear up for their clash with Benfica, Arteta’s message is clear – it’s time to capitalise. Arsenal have the quality to go far in this competition, but they will need to stay focused and maintain their form if they are to achieve their goals. The journey starts now, and Arteta will be hoping that his players rise to the occasion and deliver when it matters most.

  • Arteta told to bring Osimhen as chances of signing Isak analysed

Perry Groves has urged Arsenal to go all out to sign one of Europe’s most lethal strikers in the January transfer window if they are unable to get Alexander Isak from Newcastle United, with a fellow talkSPORT pundit also sharing his brutal verdict on Kai Havertz.

Arsenal are actively trying to sign a striker in the January transfer window following the injury to Gabriel Jesus. Kai Havertz is not scoring as frequently as he did last season, and with Liverpool six points clear at the top of the Premier League table with a game in hand, the Gunners are in danger of slipping further behind in the race for the title.

One of the strikers Arsenal are very keen on is Victor Osimhen. The 26-year-old Nigeria international joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan deal from Napoli in the summer of 2024 and has been superb so far this campaign.

One of the most lethal and fearsome strikers in Europe, Osimhen has scored 14 goals and given six assists in 18 matches in all competitions so far this season.

The striker found the back of the net 17 times in all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign, while in 2022-23, he scored 31 goals in 39 appearances.

Manchester United have reportedly had a verbal bid for the striker turned down in January, while Arsenal have made contact about bringing him to the Emirates Stadium before the window closes.

Former Arsenal winger Groves believes that Osimhen would be a brilliant signing for Mikel Arteta’s side in the middle of the season.

While the talkSPORT pundit would love the Gunners to sign Isak in January, he is aware that Newcastle will not sell the Sweden international striker, who has scored 15 goals and given five assists in 20 Premier League matches this season.

When asked whether he would bring Osimhen to Arsenal, Groves told talkSPORT: “In a heartbeat. You ain’t gonna get Isak because Newcastle, even though they had a bad result on the weekend, they’re still looking to see if they can get into the Champions League, so they’re not going to get Isak.

“So, if it means you pay over the odds or if you take a player on loan, any centre-forward at the top level, (Ally) Coisty, you’d be licking your lips thinking, ‘I tell you what, I could make a massive difference to that Arsenal side.’”

    Brutal Kai Havertz verdict

With Jesus now injured, Havertz will continue to lead the line for Arsenal. The Germany international forward has scored just eight goals in 19 Premier League games this season.

During the 2023-24 campaign, Havertz found the back of the net 13 times and provided seven assists in 30 Premier League starts for the Gunners.

Former Rangers and Scotland international striker Ally McCoist does not think that Havertz will win Arsenal the Premier League title this season.

McCoist said on talkSPORT: “I think it’s a crying shame, actually. The amount of games I’ve been at, particularly at the Emirates, and I see that ball flashing across the six-yard box.

“I think Havertz is an excellent footballer, I really do. But I think Havertz would score the same amount of goals whether he plays centre forward, number ten or comes off the side. I think he’ll get 10 goals, whereas a centre forward playing in that position gets you 20, 25 (goals).”

Latest Arsenal news: Sesko bid, Tavares in demand

Arsenal have needed a ‘proper’ striker since last summer, and Jesus’s latest injury seems to have awakened the decision-makers at the North London club.

The Gunners are now actively looking to bring in a new number nine, and one of the players they are very keen on is Benjamin Sesko.

Arsenal are reportedly ready to pay £59.2m in transfer fees for the RB Leipzig striker, with Barcelona also said to be interested in him.

A player that many Arsenal fans would have forgotten about is Nuno Tavares. The left-back is out on loan at Lazio at the moment, and it is unlikely that he will ever play for the Gunners again.

Although Tavares failed to make a huge impact during his time in the Premier League, he has been a star for Lazio in Serie A.

The 24-year-old Portuguese international left-back’s performances in Italy have been so impressive that Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan are all showing interest in him now.

Meanwhile, there are reports that Real Madrid are eyeing a summer raid on Arsenal for William Saliba.

Saliba has established himself as one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League, and Madrid have reportedly been in touch with his entourage over a summer move.

Encouragingly for Arsenal, the France international central defender is not focused on his future at the moment – his mind is on making sure that the Gunners win the Premier League title this season

POLL:  What is the biggest missing piece for Arsenal to win the Premier League?

In a recent development, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reportedly been urged to bring in Lille striker Victor Osimhen as the chances of signing Real Sociedad forward Alexander Isak are being analyzed.

Osimhen, who has been in fine form for Lille this season, has caught the eye of several top clubs across Europe with his impressive goal-scoring record. With Arsenal in need of reinforcements up front, the Nigerian international could be a valuable addition to their squad.

However, the Gunners are also considering a move for Isak, who has been in excellent form for Real Sociedad and has attracted interest from a number of clubs. The Swedish striker is seen as a long-term solution to Arsenal’s attacking woes and could provide a different dimension to their forward line.

Arteta will have to weigh up the pros and cons of both players before making a decision on who to pursue in the upcoming transfer window. With funds likely to be limited, the Arsenal boss will need to make a shrewd move in order to bolster his squad for next season.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will be able to secure the services of either Osimhen or Isak, but fans will be hoping for a positive outcome as the summer transfer window approaches. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.

  • Arteta on Sterling’s performance, joy of working with Havertz, Saka’s holiday & more – Arseblog News

Having started off a bit grouchy in the first half of his pre-Villa press conference, Mikel Arteta lightened up towards the end, sharing a few jokes with the assembled media.

The manager addressed questions on Raheem Sterling, Kai Havertz, and Big Gabi, advised Bukayo Saka to take a holiday, and once again urged the crowd to create a lively atmosphere on Saturday night.

    On Raheem Sterling’s recent performances…

Yeah, for sure we can get a lot from Rash. We are getting much more than we used to get [from him] a few weeks back. Obviously, his involvement has been much higher and he’s going to be capital. Now he’s got more rhythm and more minutes, he had an injury that he’s coming back from, but, overall, I think he can give us a lot.

On Gabriel Magalhaes’ being a serious goal threat…

At the present time, very much. When you look at his numbers and the type of goals and the occasions when he has scored the goals, they are very important goals as well. He will be right up there.

On whether he’s been given assurances that spending in January won’t affect his summer budget…

Assurances in this industry, I think that nobody can give you because it’s related to performance, what we achieve, how we finish the season. A lot of things. It’s clear that it’s not easy, and I think that’s probably the most difficult part because a player that is injured at the end, what can you do? He has no value, he cannot perform, so it’s a really difficult scenario. On top of that, you have to add somebody else on, so it’s not easy.

On discussing internally the balance between buying now and the summer…

Yeah, for sure. We never plan a window. We have a plan, we look at the squad, how we’re going to evolve it, what is in the academy, how we’re going to change it and adapt things. And from there, then you go. Because from what you plan, actually, and the picture that we have today [either] we are really bad at planning or nobody could see that we were going to have that many injuries. So you’re going to have to adapt whatever the plan is as well.

On whether the January window is as simple as having the money to spend…

I don’t think so. Obviously, it’s a factor, because at the end, when you want to recruit a player and the player wants to come, you have to agree to a certain fee. But that player has to be available. It [has to be] a player that we believe can be the solution, short and medium and long term. And we have to be able to afford it. It’s not easy.

On January signings needinb to hit the ground running and whether that’s a factor in recruitment…

For sure. With every player, you have to understand the context as well. So which player do you bring? What are the expectations? How is this player going to fit in on that door when everybody’s asking, OK, we need to sign that kind of player? And then how do you deal with that? That’s always a big thing.

On Kai Havertz’s morale at the moment…

It’s a joy to work with him, honestly. I wish that you could spend some time with him and the players around him and the people around him. That’s why we all love him. Because he just looks forward, he takes it in the chin, he works harder, and he tries again. [For] him and anybody else, in football, what you’ve done today or three weeks ago, it doesn’t matter. It’s about, OK, now against Aston Villa, what we can produce. We’re going to be judges on that, that’s it. So let’s look forward to that.

Best to watch this next bit as it’s funny… [3 mins 50 seconds onwards]

On reminding the crowd of the need for a big atmosphere…

Hopefully not. Hopefully, that [the NLD] is the standard and we maintain it and we go from there to better.

On whether they are aware of this…

I don’t know. They have to watch the press conference! It would be difficult for me shouting and lifting my arms, what else can I do? I will try my best.

On Bukayo Saka having his blessing to go on holiday while he recovers from injury…

Yeah, yeah, he needs to. He’s obligated to go. Yes. With his girlfriend, with his family, that he can choose, on his own, but he needs to get away for a few days and refresh. He can still do a lot of things on the rehab because it’s the perfect stage right now, but I think it’s going to make him really good.

On whether he’s keen to stay close to the team at a vital point of the season…

Yeah, but he is and he’s been every single day there. But there is a moment, especially when we plan and we’re going to be away for a few days, that he needs to do that. That’s very important for him as well and we need to look after our players.

On Saka sending him a postcard…

Yeah, a nice picture or present or something!

In a recent interview, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta spoke about Raheem Sterling’s performance in their last match, the joy of working with Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka’s well-deserved holiday, and more.

Arteta praised Sterling for his exceptional performance on the pitch, highlighting his work rate and commitment to the team. The manager also expressed his delight at having the opportunity to work with Havertz, praising the young midfielder’s talent and dedication to improving his game.

On Saka’s holiday, Arteta confirmed that the young star has been granted some time off to rest and recharge after a grueling season. The manager emphasized the importance of giving players the opportunity to recuperate and return to training refreshed and ready for the next challenge.

Overall, Arteta’s comments reflect his dedication to developing and supporting his players, as well as his commitment to building a successful and competitive team. Arsenal fans can look forward to seeing more exciting performances from their favorite players in the upcoming season.
