  • Mexican President Asks Google to Not Use Gulf of America on Maps Platform

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum is taking another stand against Donald Trump‘s efforts to change the Gulf of Mexico’s name to the Gulf of America.

According to reports from CNN and Reuters, Sheinbaum announced on Thursday, Jan. 30 that she had sent a letter to Google, imploring the tech giant not to comply with Trump’s order to rename the gulf.

“In the case of Mexico, where are we completely sovereign? In the area established as 12 nautical miles from the coastline, and this applies to all countries worldwide,” the letter (originally in Spanish), states, per CNN.

“If a country wants to change the designation of something in the sea, it would only apply up to 12 nautical miles. It cannot apply to the rest, in this case, the Gulf of Mexico. This is what we explained in detail to Google,” Sheinbaum told reporters, referring to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Sheinbaum also spoke about the previous half-joking counterproposal she made to Trump to rename the US as “América Mexicana” or Mexican America, using a map from 1607.

“We ask that when you put Mexican America in the search engine, the map appears that we presented,” she added, referring to a map provided to the public earlier this month.

Google previously addressed its plan to comply with Trump’s executive order in a post on X, citing a “longstanding practice of applying name changes when they have been updated in official government sources” — which is based on updates to the Geographic Names Information System.

“Also longstanding practice: When official names vary between countries, Maps users see their official local name,” the X post states. “Everyone in the rest of the world sees both names. That applies here too.”

Google did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Thursday.

Trump first announced the idea for renaming the body of water the Gulf of America on Jan. 7, sharing in a press conference that he thought the change was “appropriate.”

“We’re going to be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America — which has a beautiful ring. That covers a lot of territory,” he said. “The Gulf of America, what a beautiful name.”

The 47th president later signed an executive order declaring that the Gulf of Mexico be renamed on Monday, Jan. 20.

Never miss a story — sign up for PEOPLE’s free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.

According to the White House, the order said, “The area formerly known as the Gulf of Mexico has long been an integral asset to our once burgeoning Nation and has remained an indelible part of America.” It ended by noting, “The Gulf will continue to play a pivotal role in shaping America’s future and the global economy, and in recognition of this flourishing economic resource and its critical importance to our Nation’s economy and its people, I am directing that it officially be renamed the Gulf of America.”

Sheinbaum previously told reporters that she believes Trump should only be able to rename the American part of the body of water.

“He says that he will call it the ‘Gulf of America’ on its continental shelf. For us, it is still the Gulf of Mexico and for the entire world it is still the Gulf of Mexico,” Sheinbaum said on Jan. 21, per the Associated Press.

Recently, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has requested Google to refrain from using the term “Gulf of America” on its maps platform. The president expressed his concerns that using this term instead of the traditional “Gulf of Mexico” could be seen as an attempt to erase Mexico’s identity and historical significance.

The Gulf of Mexico has been referred to by this name for centuries, and changing it to “Gulf of America” could cause confusion and misrepresentation. The Mexican government believes that this change could have political implications and is urging Google to reconsider its decision.

President López Obrador has also stated that the Gulf of Mexico is an integral part of Mexico’s history and culture, and renaming it would undermine the country’s heritage. He has called on Google to respect Mexico’s sovereignty and use the correct name for the body of water.

It remains to be seen how Google will respond to this request, but it is clear that the issue has sparked a debate about the importance of preserving historical names and identities. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.

  • Federal Employees Pronouns: Trump asks federal employees to remove pronouns from email signatures. Here’s what it means

Trump asks federal employees to remove pronouns from email signatures. Here's what it means
Federal employees have been asked to remove their pronouns from their official emails.

Employees at multiple federal agencies have been asked to remove pronouns from their email signatures by this afternoon, ABC News reported citing internal memos. The memo is based on two executive orders signed by President Donald Trump on his first day in office ending DEI programs in the government. “Pronouns and any other information not permitted in the policy must be removed from CDC/ATSDR employee signatures by 5.p.m. ET on Friday,” according to one such message sent Friday morning from Jason Bonander, the CDC’s Chief Information Officer. “Staff are being asked to alter signature blocks by 5.p.m. ET today (Friday, January 31, 2025) to follow the revised policy.”
It is not yet known which agencies received the memo as the report said that the transport department received a similar directive on Thursday when they were managing the emergency of the DC plane crash near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
Energy department employees also received a similar notice Thursday and they were told that this was to meet requirements in Trumo’s executive order calling for the removal of DEI “language in Federal discourse, communications and publications”.
The memo also asked each agency to effectively institute trans bathroom bans.
Memo in line with Trump’s executive order
Donald Trump signed two executive orders calling for an and to what his administration called “radical and wasteful DEI programs” and seeking to restore the “biological truth to the federal government”. In one of those executive orders, each agency, or department of the government has been asked to terminate “to the maximum extent allowed by law” all DEI (diversity, equity, inclusivity) offices and positions.
The Trump administration has cracked the whip on federal workers and asked them to work from the office or to take a deferred resignation program in which they will get their pay and other benefits for eight months if they accept to resign by February 6.

Recently, President Trump issued a directive to federal employees, requesting that they remove their preferred pronouns from their email signatures. This decision has sparked controversy and raised questions about the importance of inclusivity in the workplace.

For many individuals, including their preferred pronouns in their email signature is a way to affirm their gender identity and ensure that others respect and acknowledge it. By removing this option, some argue that the Trump administration is disregarding the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

On the other hand, supporters of the directive argue that including pronouns in email signatures is unnecessary and could be seen as promoting a political agenda. They believe that employees should focus on their work and not on their gender identity.

Overall, the debate surrounding this issue highlights the ongoing struggles for recognition and acceptance of diverse identities in the workplace. It remains to be seen how federal employees will respond to this directive and what impact it will have on the overall culture of inclusivity within government agencies.

  • Trump DOJ asks Supreme Court to freeze student debt, environment cases

President Donald Trump’s Justice Department on Friday asked the Supreme Court to freeze a handful of cases, including a challenge to one of former President Biden’s student loan bailouts.

Acting Solicitor General Sarah Harris filed several motions Friday asking the court to halt proceedings in the student loan case and three environmental cases while the new administration will “reassess the basis for and soundness” of Biden’s policies.

The Supreme Court was expected to hear oral arguments for these cases in March or April and issue decisions later this term. But Trump’s DOJ requested that the high court halt all written brief deadlines, which would put them on indefinite hold.

BIDEN’S LATEST ROUND OF STUDENT LOAN HANDOUTS BRINGS ADMIN TOTAL TO MORE THAN 5 MILLION

Under former President Joe Biden, more than 5 million Americans had their student debt canceled through actions taken by the Department of Education. But Biden’s actions faced numerous legal challenges, with GOP critics alleging he went beyond the scope of his authority by acting without Congress.

In this case, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals had blocked the Biden administration’s borrower defense rule, which would have expanded student debt relief for borrowers who were defrauded by their schools. The court found that Biden’s rule had “numerous statutory and regulatory shortcomings.” Biden appealed to the Supreme Court, which agreed to hear the case earlier this month.

Now, that case is on hold, and it is possible the Trump administration will revoke the rule change, rendering the issue moot.

It is not unusual for a new presidential administration to reverse its position on legal cases inherited from the prior administration. After Biden took office, the DOJ asked the Supreme Court to freeze a challenge to Trump’s attempt to use military funds to construct a border wall. Biden halted the spending and the court dismissed the case.

The Biden administration took similar action with a case that challenged Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy. The Supreme Court eventually tossed the case as moot after Biden rescinded the policy.

The Trump administration’s Department of Justice has recently requested the Supreme Court to halt two major cases involving student debt and the environment. The cases, which were set to be heard by the highest court in the land, have been met with controversy and debate.

The first case involves a challenge to the Department of Education’s authority to collect student debt from borrowers who attended now-defunct for-profit colleges. The second case centers around a dispute over the EPA’s ability to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from power plants.

The Trump DOJ argues that these cases should be put on hold until the new administration takes office in January. Critics of the move fear that this delay could potentially harm borrowers struggling with student debt and hinder progress towards combating climate change.

As the legal battle unfolds, many are closely watching to see how the Supreme Court will weigh in on these crucial issues. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.

  • Trump asks justices for pause in four cases to reconsider Biden policies

    SCOTUS NEWS
    The Supreme Court building

    (Katie Barlow)

The Trump administration on Friday asked the Supreme Court to pause the briefing in four cases slated for argument during the 2024-25 term. In filings by Acting Solicitor General Sarah Harris, the government told the justices that, with the change in administrations from former President Joe Biden to President Donald Trump, government officials had determined that federal agencies in each case – the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Education – should take another look at the regulations, agency determinations, or actions at the center of the dispute.

The solicitor general is the government’s top lawyer in the Supreme Court, sometimes referred to as the “tenth justice” because of respect that the court has for the lawyers in the solicitor general’s office and the respect that the justices give to that office. Perhaps because of that role, there has generally been a longstanding tradition that, even after a change from a Democratic administration to a Republican one or vice versa, the federal government maintains the same legal position in cases already before the court on the merits. However, in recent years, solicitors general in both the first Trump administration and the Biden administration departed from that practice, reversing course in several cases before the court.

Harris, a former clerk to Justice Clarence Thomas who is serving as the acting solicitor general until D. John Sauer, Trump’s permanent pick for solicitor general, is confirmed, filed motions on Friday to put the briefing schedule on hold in four cases.

In Department of Education v. Career Colleges and Schools of Texas, the court agreed to review a ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit that suspended the implementation of a rule intended to streamline the process for reviewing requests for student loan forgiveness from borrowers whose schools defrauded them or were shut down.

Harris wrote on Friday that, since the change in the administration, the Department of Education plans to “reassess the basis for and soundness of the Department’s borrower-defense regulations.” The challenger in the case, a group of for-profit colleges, consents to the request to put the briefing schedule on hold.

In Diamond Alternative Energy v. Environmental Protection Agency, the justices agreed to decide whether fuel producers have a legal right to challenge the EPA’s grant to California of a waiver that allows the state to set standards to limit greenhouse-gas emissions and require all passenger vehicles sold in the state to be zero-emissions vehicles by 2035.

Harris told the justices that the EPA plans to take another look at its 2022 decision to reinstate that waiver. “Such a reassessment,” she explained, “could obviate the need for this Court to determine whether” the fuel producers have a legal right to sue, known as standing, “to challenge that decision.” The fuel producers oppose the government’s request and plan to file a response, Harris indicated.

In Oklahoma v. Environmental Protection Agency, the justices agreed to decide whether the EPA’s denial of states’ plans to implement national air quality standards under the Clean Air Act’s “good neighbor” provision can only be brought in the D.C. Circuit.

As in the Diamond Alternative Energy case, Harris indicated that the EPA will reconsider the decision that gave rise to the dispute. Similarly, she reasoned, as a result of that reassessment, the court may no longer need to decide where challenges to the EPA’s action may be filed. The challengers in the case have said that they intend to oppose the EPA’s request to put the case on hold.

And in Environmental Protection Agency v. Calumet Shreveport Refining, the justices had agreed to consider whether challenges by a group of small oil refineries to the EPA’s denial of their requests for exemptions from the requirements imposed by the Clean Air Act’s Renewable Fuel Standards program must be litigated in the D.C. Circuit.

Harris told the court that the EPA planned to take another look at the “basis for and soundness of” the underlying denial actions. The oil refineries, she said, plan to oppose the government’s request.

None of the four cases that the government seeks to put on hold have been scheduled for oral arguments.

This article was originally published at Howe on the Court.

In a recent development, former President Donald Trump has requested the Supreme Court to put a hold on four cases challenging Biden administration policies. Trump’s legal team has urged the justices to reconsider the decisions made by lower courts regarding these cases.

The cases in question involve issues such as immigration, climate change, and healthcare, all of which were hotly debated during the 2020 presidential election. Trump’s team argues that the new administration’s policies are detrimental to the American people and that the Supreme Court should take a closer look at these matters.

This move is seen as a strategic one by Trump, who has been vocal about his opposition to Biden’s policies since leaving office. It remains to be seen how the Supreme Court will respond to this request and what implications it may have on the future of these contentious issues.

Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.

  • Fox News Hosts Asks Why Would a Husband Grocery Shop With His Wife — But Is It Good for the Marriage?

On Wednesday, January 23, during one of his hour-long news shows, Fox News host Jesse Watters questioned men who grocery shop with their wives.

In a clip from the show that is now going viral on X, Watters is talking about video captured by The New York Post.

The clip reveals former Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, grocery shopping together.

“What kind of husband goes grocery shopping with his wife,” Watters asked. And the question has fellow X users scratching their collective heads.

“A normal one,” a commenter answered.

Jessica Alba and Cash Warren’s Most Honest Quotes About Their Relationship: ‘You Become Roommates’

“My wonderful husband does,” another added.

“It’s so odd to openly declare on air that your marriage is devoid of happiness and connection, but you do you, Jesse,” one commenter wrote.

“Does Jesse Watters sit in the car while his wife does the shopping,” another asked.

“This is old school. I have no problem with this,” a commenter wrote. “My parents always did grocery shopping together.”

Chrissy Teigen also took to her Instagram Story to share the clip, writing, “We are in bizarro world where anyone can just say anything weird and half the country is like hell yeah.”

It turns out, in 2023, Global matchmaker and CEO of Vows for Eternity, Anurahda Gupta, told Metro UK that she believes grocery shopping as a couple “can make your relationship stronger.”

Gupta said grocery shopping “can feel like a date” if you “approach it with the right attitude.”

“By treating it as a chance to spend quality time together, you can make grocery shopping an enjoyable and even romantic activity that helps you connect with your partner,” she adds.

Today’s Hoda Kotb, Jenna Bush Hager Slam Harrison Butker’s Homemaker Comments: ‘Don’t Speak for Us’

“Whether you play a game of rock, paper, scissors to choose who picks the appetiser, main and dessert, or simply enjoy holding hands, walking round the store, couples can make the most out of their weekly shop and strengthen their bond in the process.”

Gupta adds that grocery shopping together can help with communication and can also help prove if you work together as a team.

“[It’s a great] opportunity for couples to see how well they work together, especially when it comes to decision-making and problem-solving,” she told Metro Uk.

“By working together to navigate the store, manage their budget, and tackle their shopping list, couples can develop a sense of teamwork and shared responsibility,” she continued. “Even when disagreements arise, grocery shopping can offer a chance to practice communication skills and conflict resolution. This kind of collaboration and mutual support can build a more resilient relationship.”

Fox News Hosts Asks Why Would a Husband Grocery Shop With His Wife — But Is It Good for the Marriage?

Recently, a Fox News host sparked controversy by questioning why a husband would grocery shop with his wife. The host argued that traditional gender roles dictate that the wife should handle grocery shopping while the husband focuses on other tasks.

However, many couples today are challenging these outdated gender norms and choosing to grocery shop together. But is this trend actually good for the marriage?

Some experts believe that grocery shopping together can strengthen a couple’s bond by providing an opportunity for shared decision-making and teamwork. It can also encourage communication and compromise, as couples navigate preferences and budget constraints together.

On the other hand, some may argue that grocery shopping together can lead to disagreements and conflict, particularly if one partner is more particular about their food choices or spending habits. It can also be a source of stress if one partner feels pressured to make decisions quickly or compromise on their preferences.

Ultimately, whether grocery shopping together is good for a marriage depends on the couple’s communication style, ability to compromise, and individual preferences. Some couples may find it to be a fun and enjoyable activity that strengthens their relationship, while others may prefer to divide the task and shop separately.

What do you think? Is grocery shopping together good for a marriage, or should couples stick to traditional gender roles when it comes to household chores? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

  • Ken Jennings Insists ‘Celebrity Jeopardy!’ Is “Legitimate” After Kelly Ripa Asks If The Questions Are “Dumbed Down” For Celebrity Contestants

According to Ken Jennings, Celebrity Jeopardy! is the real deal — well, mostly.

The Jeopardy! host stopped by Live with Kelly and Mark on Monday morning, and with Anderson Cooper sitting in for Mark Consuelos, Kelly Ripa found herself “sandwiched between two Jeopardy! titans.”

“I feel smarter just sitting here,” she quipped. “Why is that buzzer so difficult for people?”

As Jennings and Cooper dished on how tough the buzzer can be, the latter recalled his experiences competing on the trivia game show.

“During commercial breaks, the times I played, all the other contestants were like, ‘There’s something wrong with this buzzer,’” Cooper explained.

Jennings teased, “I think that’s because you were on Celebrity Jeopardy! ‘Things are not going well for me, a celebrity! Something is clearly wrong with this. With the technology. This should not happen.’”

After Cooper admitted “that’s 100% true,” Ripa chimed in and asked, “Is it true, in fact, that the Celebrity Jeopardy! questions are, as Anderson likes to say, ‘dumbed down’ for the celebrities?”

Jennings said, “We do not use the phrase ‘dumbed down,’ for some reason.”

    Photo: ABC

    Photo: ABC

Ripa clarified her question by asking if the puzzles are “less smart” than the flagship series, while Cooper suggested that they are “gentler.”

Jennings replied, “That’s well put. It’s more pleasant… I feel like SNL gave everybody the idea that Celebrity Jeopardy! is just, like, remedial.”

Cooper acknowledged that “it’s hard,” as Jennings insisted that “it’s legitimate Jeopardy!

“That’s stuff that would be on the board on any daily Jeopardy! show,” he continued. “But these are people who have put themselves on the line and they’re playing for charity. And we want them to look like they’re having fun and playing well.”

However, Ripa claimed that sometimes “it doesn’t look like they’re having fun.”

“Sometimes when they’re being portrayed or they’re portraying themselves as maybe not knowledgeable about anything, it doesn’t look like they’re having a good time,” she joked. “No matter what their charity is.”

Ken Jennings, the legendary Jeopardy! champion and current guest host of the popular quiz show, has come to the defense of “Celebrity Jeopardy!” after Kelly Ripa raised questions about the difficulty level of the questions on the celebrity edition.

During a recent episode of Live with Kelly and Ryan, Ripa asked Jennings if the questions on “Celebrity Jeopardy!” are “dumbed down” for the celebrity contestants. Jennings was quick to respond, insisting that the questions on the celebrity edition are just as challenging and legitimate as those on the regular version of the show.

Jennings went on to explain that while some viewers may perceive the questions on “Celebrity Jeopardy!” to be easier, this is simply due to the fact that the contestants are not professional trivia experts like him. He emphasized that the questions are tailored to the diverse range of knowledge and interests of the celebrity contestants, but are still held to the same rigorous standards as the regular version of the show.

As someone who has proven his trivia prowess time and time again, Ken Jennings’ endorsement of the legitimacy of “Celebrity Jeopardy!” carries significant weight. So next time you tune in to watch your favorite celebrities compete on the iconic game show, rest assured that they are being put to the test with real, challenging questions.

Another wrote, “Kennedys have always gotten away with day drinking in the past, but this points out why it’s a bad idea.” “Are you that desperate for engagement?” another user said.

“You’re talking about your grandmother like this?” one user wrote, while another said, “I think something is wrong with you”. “It’s sad state when a member of the Kennedy family is engagement farming,” said one user. Another wrote, “The Kennedy family is obviously already drunk today. Isn’t Jackie O your grandma?”

    ‘Brother seek help’

In a follow-up post, Schlossberg calls himself a “literal pervert” for calling his grandmother hot. “I’m a literal pervert. I called my grandmother hot… have I totally lost it ? Jesus … this kid will do anything for attention. Your grandfather would be ashamed. Seriously. Time to get a job,” he wrote on X.

X users asked him to seek therapy in the comment section. “Brother seek help,” one user wrote. “Have you tried therapy sessions,” another said.

Schlossberg is the son of politician Caroline Kennedy and designer Edwin Schlossberg. A Harvard graduate, he is the only grandson of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and the late JFK.

I take that very seriously and I want to contribute in my own way,” he told Vogue at the time. “I have big dreams, but I also know that I’m trying to make a positive impact today.”

Recently, JFK’s grandson made a controversial statement comparing his grandmother, Jackie Kennedy, to Usha Vance, sparking outrage among netizens. The young Kennedy was quoted as asking whether Vance was “way hotter” than his iconic grandmother.

Many were quick to condemn the statement, calling it inappropriate and disrespectful to Jackie Kennedy’s memory. Some even went as far as to suggest that the young Kennedy should seek help for making such a crass comparison.

It is important to remember that Jackie Kennedy was a beloved figure in American history, known for her grace, intelligence, and style. Comparing her to someone else in terms of physical attractiveness is not only shallow but also diminishes her legacy.

Let us remember Jackie Kennedy for the extraordinary woman she was and not reduce her to a mere object of comparison. And let us hope that JFK’s grandson learns from this misstep and shows more respect in the future.

  • Mother of Missing U.S. Journalist Asks Syria’s New Leaders for Help

The mother of Austin Tice, an American journalist abducted in Syria, said on Monday that she had met with Syria’s new leader in Damascus and expressed hope that “a page will be turned” in the more than decade-long search for her son.

Debra Tice gave a news conference in Damascus on Monday after the meeting with Ahmed al-Shara, whose rebel group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham led the sudden offensive last month that toppled President Bashar al-Assad, ending more than 50 years of Assad family rule in Syria. Syria’s state news agency also reported on the meeting, posting pictures of her in conversation with Mr. al-Shara at the presidential palace.

Although she had no new information on her son’s whereabouts, Ms. Tice, who arrived in Damascus on Saturday, said she felt optimistic that Syria’s new rebel leaders would help her and Syrian families searching for loved ones still missing after being held in the old regime’s notorious prisons.

“It was so wonderful to learn that they are dedicated and determined to bring home my son and your sons,” Ms. Tice said, addressing Syrians searching for missing loved ones as well. “They know what we are going through.”

Ms. Tice said that as far as she knew, her son was still being held captive, but the turmoil since Mr. al-Assad’s ouster made it much more difficult to ascertain his whereabouts.

“It’s like starting all over again,” she said.

Mr. Tice was kidnapped at a checkpoint in a suburb of Damascus in 2012. He appeared not long after in a video, blindfolded and held by masked men with assault rifles. Former U.S. officials said they believed that the video was a ploy by the government to blame rebels for his disappearance.

Former and current U.S. officials have said they believe Mr. Tice managed to escape several weeks after his capture through a window of a prison cell, but was caught by Syrian intelligence.

President Joe Biden said in December, after Mr. al-Assad’s ouster, that U.S. officials believed Mr. Tice was still being held captive and hoped to bring him home, while adding that they had “no direct evidence” about his status.

Officials in his administration spent years looking for Mr. Tice, including a visit to Damascus in December by his special envoy on hostages. The White House also gave the rebel group a list of former Syrian officials who might have knowledge about Mr. Tice, a freelance journalist from Houston who wrote for The Washington Post and other outlets.

But Ms. Tice has recently been critical of the Biden administration, saying it did not negotiate hard enough for her son’s release.

Ms. Tice said she felt hopeful about the incoming administration of Donald Trump. “Things are going to change,” she said. “I’m looking forward to that. His people have already reached out to me.”

It was Ms. Tice’s first visit to Syria since 2015, when she met with officials of the Assad government, who never confirmed whether they held her son and later stopped issuing her visas.

During her meeting with Mr. al-Shara, Ms. Tice said, he spoke to her of his own time in prison. In 2003, Mr. al-Shara joined Al Qaeda to fight the U.S. occupation of Iraq, where Mr. Tice once served as a Marine. Mr. al-Shara spent years in a U.S. prison in Iraq, according to Arab media accounts.

After leading Al Qaeda’s Syrian branch in the early days of the 13-year rebellion against Mr. al-Assad, Mr. al-Sharaa reformulated the group as Hayat Tahrir al-Sham in 2017 and has sought to distance it from its Al Qaeda past.

Former and current U.S. officials have said they believe Mr. Tice was held in several security-service detention facilities, including Branch 248 and Branch 215, both believed to be military intelligence sites.

During her visit to Syria she visited both places, Ms. Tice said, describing them as an “awful, terrible nightmare.”

In the post “Mother of Missing U.S. Journalist Asks Syria’s New Leaders for Help,” we shed light on the heartbreaking plea of a mother whose son, an American journalist, has been missing in Syria for years. With the recent changes in leadership in Syria, she is reaching out to the new leaders in hopes of receiving information or assistance in locating her son and bringing him back home. The post highlights the ongoing anguish and uncertainty faced by families of missing individuals in conflict zones and calls for compassion and action from those in power.
