  • Blake Lively’s legal team asks judge for hearing following public remarks by Justin Baldoni’s attorney

    CNN
     —

Blake Lively’s lawyers are accusing Justin Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, of publicly making “misleading and selective” statements about Lively and her ongoing legal dispute with Baldoni, and are asking a court for a hearing “to address the appropriate conduct of counsel moving forward.”

Lively’s legal team filed a letter in the Southern District of New York on Tuesday, the same day that Freedman released video footage from the set of “It Ends With Us,” the film at the center of the ongoing legal battle, claiming the footage “refutes” Lively’s characterization of Baldoni’s behavior. Freedman also said Tuesday that they have plans to set up a website containing more correspondence and video footage that they say will discredit Lively’s claims.

In the letter, filed after the video footage was released on Tuesday and obtained by CNN, Lively’s lawyers cite that they previously sent two cease-and-desist letters since she filed her initial complaint with the California Civil Rights Department on December 21. The first of those letters was issued to “The Wayfarer Parties,” which includes members of Baldoni’s production company Wayfarer Studios and members on Baldoni’s publicity team.

The second cease-and-desist was sent “directly to Mr. Freedman,” asking him to stop “making further defamatory, and retaliatory, statements relating to Ms. Lively” and saying that his public statements are “unprotected by the litigation privilege.” In this letter to Freedman, Lively’s legal team sought to issue a reminder that “lawyers are not publicity agents” and that lawyers are “required to follow a different set of professional standards than publicists and crisis managers.”

“Since the Wayfarer Parties and Mr. Freedman received the cease-and-desist letters, they have continued their harassing and retaliatory media campaign, with almost daily media statements or other releases to the press,” read part of the letter that Lively’s legal team filed with the court on Tuesday.

Lively’s lawyers argue that Freedman’s conduct “threatens to, and will, materially prejudice” both Lively’s sexual harassment case and Baldoni’s defamation case “by tainting the jury pool,” and are asking the court to schedule a hearing “to address the appropriate conduct of counsel moving forward in these two related matters.”

They intend to seek a “protective order to govern further proceedings in this case,” but say a hearing is necessary “given the imminent harm caused by Mr. Freedman’s misleading and selective statements and leaks,” according to the letter.

(From left) Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively in 'It Ends With Us.'

CNN has reached out to Freedman and Lively’s representatives, respectively, for comment.

Baldoni and Lively have been in a legal battle that began in December when Lively filed her initial complaint that preceded her civil sexual harassment lawsuit.

In her suit, Lively said that during the filming of “It Ends With Us,” a meeting was held with Baldoni, Lively and various production executives to address a “hostile work environment that had nearly derailed production.” After she raised concerns about “repeated sexual harassment and other disturbing behavior by Mr. Baldoni,” her suit claimed, Baldoni’s PR representatives orchestrated a “social manipulation” campaign intended to hurt her reputation in the media in retaliation.

Baldoni has denied Lively’s allegations. He filed a $250 million libel suit against The New York Times in December, where he claimed the newspaper – who first reported Lively’s CRD complaint – published an accompanying article that was “rife with inaccuracies, misrepresentations, and omissions” that relied on Lively’s “self-serving narrative.”

The New York Times told CNN in a statement at the time that they stand by their reporting, saying, in part, that their story “was meticulously and responsibly reported.”

Baldoni also filed a $400 million defamation lawsuit against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds and their publicist Leslie Sloane earlier this month.

At the time, Lively’s lawyer’s told CNN in a statement that Baldoni’s suit “is another chapter in the abuser playbook. This is an age-old story: A woman speaks up with concrete evidence of sexual harassment and retaliation and the abuser attempts to turn the tables on the victim.”

Blake Lively’s legal team is not backing down in their fight against Justin Baldoni’s attorney. In a recent court filing, Lively’s team has requested a hearing with the judge to address the public remarks made by Baldoni’s attorney.

The feud between Lively and Baldoni has been heating up in recent months, with both parties embroiled in a bitter legal battle over alleged copyright infringement. Lively claims that Baldoni’s latest project bears striking similarities to her own work, and she is seeking damages for the alleged infringement.

However, things took a turn for the worse when Baldoni’s attorney made several public remarks about Lively, questioning her credibility and integrity. Lively’s legal team was quick to respond, calling the remarks defamatory and demanding a retraction.

Now, Lively’s team is taking things a step further by requesting a hearing with the judge to address the issue. They are seeking a formal apology from Baldoni’s attorney and are prepared to take further legal action if necessary.

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.

The Bishop of Washington, Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde, made a plea to President Donald Trump, who was in-person at an inaugural prayer service, to have “mercy” on Americans, particularly immigrants and LGBTQ people.

In a recent statement, Bishop Mariann Budde of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington has called on President Trump to show mercy and compassion towards LGBTQ individuals and immigrants. She expressed concern over the administration’s policies that she believes are causing harm and division within communities.

Bishop Budde urged the president to consider the impact of his decisions on vulnerable populations and to prioritize justice and equality for all people. She emphasized the importance of treating others with respect and dignity, regardless of their background or identity.

As a leader in the faith community, Bishop Budde’s plea for mercy reflects the values of compassion and inclusivity that are central to many religious traditions. She hopes that her message will resonate with the president and inspire positive change in policies that affect marginalized groups.

It remains to be seen how President Trump will respond to Bishop Budde’s call for mercy, but the bishop’s words serve as a reminder of the importance of empathy and understanding in the face of adversity. Let us hope that her message will be heard and that steps will be taken to promote a more just and compassionate society for all.

  • EA will shut down the Origin app on April 2025 — company asks users to migrate to the new EA app

EA announced that it’s finally shutting down the Origin app on April 17, 2025, after a 14-year run and is asking its users to download the EA app instead. EA said it’s making this move because Microsoft has stopped supporting 32-bit software and that users must download a 64-bit version of Windows 10 or use Windows 11 to use the EA app.

While you can install a 32-bit app on Windows 11, which is 64-bit only, you’ll have to run it through the operating system’s compatibility features. This means you’ll likely encounter issues, especially as games are more complicated than the average app. This move will also be a problem for the average user who doesn’t know they’re running a 32-bit version of Windows 10 and their system does not have TPM 2.0. That’s because Windows 11 officially does not support devices without this security feature, although Microsoft eventually allowed it to be installed on them (but with several caveats).

Electronic Arts (EA) has announced that it will be shutting down the Origin app on April 2025. The company is urging all users to migrate to the new EA app in order to continue accessing their favorite games and content.

The decision to shut down the Origin app comes as part of EA’s ongoing efforts to streamline their services and provide a more seamless experience for users. The new EA app will offer all of the same features and functionality as Origin, with some additional enhancements to improve the overall user experience.

Users who currently have an Origin account will be able to easily migrate their account to the new EA app, ensuring that they can continue to access their game library, friends list, and other important features. EA has stated that they will provide detailed instructions on how to complete the migration process closer to the shutdown date.

Overall, this move is aimed at providing a more cohesive and user-friendly experience for EA’s gaming community. By migrating to the new EA app, users can continue to enjoy their favorite games and content without any interruptions.

  • EU asks X for internal documents about algorithms as it steps up investigation | X

The European Commission has asked X to hand over internal documents about its algorithms, as it steps up its investigation into whether Elon Musk’s social media platform has breached EU rules on content moderation.

The EU’s executive branch told the company it wanted to see internal documentation about its “recommender system”, which makes content suggestions to users, and any recent changes made to it, by 15 February.

X has been under investigation since December 2023 under the EU’s content law – known as the Digital Services Act (DSA) – over how it tackles the spread of illegal content and information manipulation. The company has been accused of manipulating the platform’s systems to give far-right posts and politicians greater visibility over other political groups.

The EU has come under growing pressure in recent weeks to take action after a series of interventions by Musk into European politics. Musk, who will be a part of Donald Trump’s administration in the US, has angered many on the continent with attacks on its leaders as well as expressions of support for Germany’s far-right Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) party.

“Today we are taking further steps to shed light on the compliance of X’s recommender systems with the obligations under the DSA,” the EU digital commissioner, Henna Virkkunen, said in a statement.

The commission played down reports this week that it was reviewing its investigations against big tech companies, stressing that they were continuing as normal and Trump’s return to the White House did not affect its commitment to enforcing its laws.

Virkkunen implied that the EU would not hesitate to use the powers it had to ban or fine X if it was found to be in breach of the DSA. “We are committed to ensuring that every platform operating in the EU respects our legislation, which aims to make the online environment fair, safe and democratic for all European citizens,” she said.

As well as its request for information on X’s recommender systems and any recent changes by 15 February, the three-pronged investigation has also issued a “retention order” obliging the platform to preserve internal documents and information regarding future changes to the design and functioning of the recommender algorithm between 17 January and 31 December unless the commission’s investigation concludes before the end of the year.

The commission has also issued a request for access to certain of X’s commercial interfaces or APIs, which are used to automatically draw content from third parties.

Johnny Ryan, a tech litigator, said it was “positive” that Virkkunen “is taking the opportunity to publicly signal that the EU will enforce its law on its soil”.

He said the retention order was “an important step” and was used after the Romanian election manipulation involving TikTok.

Some European politicians have accused Musk of meddling in elections, such as with his streamed conversation with Alice Weidel, the leader of the AfD, earlier this month. The commission has said Musk is free to speak his mind and can hold live streams with politicians but is assessing whether algorithms boost a single narrative and “shadow-ban” other views, posing a risk to fair elections.

Musk has said the criticism is an affront to democracy and free speech.

The European Union has ramped up its investigation into tech giants’ use of algorithms by requesting internal documents from X. This move comes as the EU looks to crack down on potential antitrust violations and ensure fair competition in the digital market. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story. #EU #investigation #algorithms #techgiants

Former Iowa football star Cooper DeJean was given a hard time about his home state’s climate during a recent Philadelphia Eagles practice.

DeJean, a former Hawkeye All-American and a second-round NFL Draft pick by the Eagles in 2024, was asked by teammate Darius Slay if it ever gets warm in Iowa.

A woman recently ran into Darius Rucker and asked his “friend” to take a cute photo of them — but she later realized that friend was actor Woody Harrelson who left behind a selfie to mark the humorous encounter.

I had the most incredible encounter today at a local coffee shop. As a huge fan of both Darius Rucker and Woody Harrelson, I couldn’t believe my luck when I spotted Woody sitting at a table nearby.

Feeling a surge of courage, I approached him and asked if he would mind taking a photo of me with a Darius Rucker poster I had just purchased. To my surprise, Woody not only agreed but also took multiple shots to make sure we got the perfect picture.

I couldn’t stop smiling as I thanked him profusely and walked away, feeling like the luckiest fan in the world. It just goes to show that you never know who you might run into, and sometimes your idols can turn out to be even more amazing in person. Thank you, Woody Harrelson, for making my day! #DariusRucker #WoodyHarrelson #FanEncounter

  • After shutting down the Wii U online services last year, Nintendo asks players not to use “unauthorized services” to replace them as they might pose “security risks”

    Credit: Nintendo

Over nine months on from the shutdown of the 3DS and Wii U online servers, Nintendo has issued a statement asking players to “refrain” from using unofficial services that allow them to continue playing like nothing ever happened, thank you very much.

While some players valiantly hung onto the old servers for as long as possible to keep them alive last year – an effort which lasted a whopping 210 days for one particular Mario Kart 7 player – if you boot up your Wii U or 3DS now and try to jump into an online game, you’re not going to have any luck. That is if you don’t turn to other, not Nintendo-approved means, anyway. After Nintendo first announced its plans to shut the Wii U and 3DS servers down, the developers working on the unofficial Pretendo servers confirmed that they had “begun discussing our development road map internally to accommodate this,” and today, it serves as a popular replacement for the online services for many.

In a new post on its Japanese customer support Twitter account (translated by Google and verified using DeepL), Nintendo doesn’t call out Pretendo or any other specific alternatives by name, but it warns against using “unauthorized services” that replace the Wii U’s online functionality as “they may pose unexpected security risks.” It’s not clear what prompted the company to post this now – as it points out itself, the servers officially shut down on April 9 last year, and while Pretendo is still a work in progress, it’s been available for quite some time now.

The statement also comes at a time when Nintendo fans everywhere have got their eyes glued on the company’s social media pages in the hopes of seeing a Switch 2 announcement. Apparently, that could be happening sooner rather than later, as one leaker recently claimed it’ll happen this week – something which was corroborated by multiple other sources including Eurogamer and The Verge’s Tom Warren. We’re now halfway through the week, so we’ll just have to watch this space to see if the reports end up being correct.

Former Switch marketing lead says “as wild as these leaks are Nintendo is going to stick to their plan,” not budging on Switch 2 date “no matter what.”

Recently, Nintendo made the decision to shut down the online services for the Wii U, much to the disappointment of many players. However, in a recent statement, Nintendo has asked players not to turn to “unauthorized services” to replace the now defunct online services.

Nintendo has warned that using these unauthorized services may pose “security risks” to players, potentially putting their personal information and gaming accounts at risk. While it may be tempting to seek out alternative ways to continue playing online with friends, Nintendo is urging players to prioritize their safety and security.

It is important for players to be cautious when exploring alternative options for online gaming, as using unauthorized services can have serious consequences. Nintendo is committed to providing a safe and secure gaming experience for all players, and asks for their cooperation in avoiding potentially risky behavior.

As the gaming community continues to adapt to the changes brought about by the shutdown of the Wii U online services, it is important for players to prioritize their security and to follow Nintendo’s guidance in order to protect themselves and their gaming accounts. Let’s all work together to ensure a safe and enjoyable gaming experience for everyone.

Luke Combs Shares Teaser For Unreleased Song “More Less Than Perfect” & Asks Who He Should Duet It With

https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=21vY71_0xmZmc1X00 Happy New Year from Luke Combs . The country music superstar isn’t wasting the last day of 2024. While a lot of other people are dodging work, recklessly pounding alcohol at any hour of the day, and getting the champagne ready for New Year’s Eve, Luke Combs is sharing a teaser for unreleased music. And he’s asking for some help from his fans. Combs’ latest release was his fatherhood concept album titled Fathers & Sons , which dropped on June 14. I’d also be remiss if I didn’t mention his single “Ain’t No Love In Oklahoma” that was put together specifically for the country music powered Twisters soundtrack. Needless to say, Luke Combs fans were treated very well in 2024. Now, thanks to a teaser that the country singer shared on his social media accounts, it appears that 2025 will also be a great year filled with new music from Luke Combs. A screen recording of a voice memo titled “More Less Than Perfect” shared a track that will seemingly act as a new duet. The chorus of the song goes as follows: “Just because I’m broken it don’t mean I’m worthless The heart you let me hold I know I don’t deserve it You could run away and save yourself some hurting But you kept loving me, when I couldn’t be More less than perfect.” Luke Combs love ballads are BACK. The bones of the song sound solid, but its the caption that Luke Combs shared with the video that have fans excited. Along with the minute long teaser came a question to Luke Combs fans and country music fans alike: “Who should I duet this with?” https://twitter.com/lukecombs/status/1874171187401797926 Oh, so we are getting a Luke Combs duet in 2025? Now we’re talking… Though only time will tell who Luke calls in to help him with this one. It’ll definitely be interesting to see if he and his team look at some of the artist suggestions that fans have flooded the reply section with: I don’t think Luke Combs could go wrong with any of those country artists that were suggested above. However, there were actually a number of really intriguing non-country-artists that fans shouted out for a potential duet: Have to say that Miley Cyrus would be cool, but can’t really see it happening. When I first heard it, without looking at any of the comments, my mind immediately went to Ella Langley or Megan Moroney… two of the most promising young female voices in country music right now. Meg is a labelmate too. But if I know one thing, you can always count on Luke Combs to throw you a bit of a curveball, and on more than one occasion, he’s shouted out or collaborated with really cool artists who aren’t exactly in the mainstream, front and center. He’s also used his tour and concerts to bring attention to really good country acts like The Wilder Blue, Flatland Cavalry, Charles Wesley Godwin, Colby Acuff, Hailey Whitters and more… actually, wait…. Hailey Whitters… that’s your answer. Make it happen, Luke.

Country music star Luke Combs recently took to social media to share a teaser of his unreleased song “More Less Than Perfect” and asked his fans who he should duet it with.

The 30-second clip features Combs’ signature powerful vocals accompanied by a soulful melody that is sure to resonate with listeners. The song’s lyrics touch on themes of imperfection and vulnerability, showcasing Combs’ knack for storytelling through music.

In his post, Combs expressed his excitement about the song and hinted at the possibility of a duet. He left it up to his fans to suggest potential collaborators, sparking speculation and excitement among his loyal fanbase.

Fans of Combs’ music are eagerly anticipating the release of “More Less Than Perfect” and are eagerly awaiting news of a potential duet partner. With his track record of chart-topping hits and successful collaborations, it’s no wonder that fans are buzzing with anticipation for what promises to be another standout song from the talented artist. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new release from Luke Combs!

First things first: We got some new photos in the opening credit sequence with some nifty new photos. Why do I mention this? It’ll be important later…

    Opening credits Bold

Picking up where Friday’s episode left off, Remy tries explaining his actions to a shocked and scared Electra. He kinda apologizes, saying that sometimes he goes too far. But she left him in Dallas and then hooked up with Will Spencer and, dang it, Remy loves her! He stops just short of spouting “If I can’t have you, nobody will!” But when she tries to leave, he blocks her path, locks the door and says he can’t ever be without her.

Remy tells Electra they are more than friends, and she blasts him for having created the awful photos. He wants to run away to New York City with her, and she looks at him as if he has two — possibly even three — heads. She says that twice now, he’s destroyed her life with fake photos, asking if he knows how sick that is. “If only you could just give us a chance,” he begs, only for her to counter that he’s going to jail for what he’s done.

Her face badly bruised, Luna tells Bill that she’s hated by everyone in the prison and targeted by many of her fellow inmates. “If you stop getting letters from me, chances are it’s because I’m in a hospital bed,” she weeps, “or because I’m dead!” She claims that every moment, she fears for her life, discussing the various techniques she uses to protect herself. She talks about closing her eyes and remembering being in Bill’s home, because he made her feel so safe. She again talks about how similar she and Bill are, with mothers who were on drugs and constantly with new men. “You had no foundation,”” he says. “That I understand. I do.” He is, she believes, the only person who can understand her.

“People hurt us,” Luna continues. “If anyone can understand why I did what I did, it’s you!” She insists she doesn’t belong there. “Save me from this horrible place!” Bill says that before he can do anything, he wants to know the truth about how “it” happened. She asks “How what happened?” as if he might be referring to anything other than the two murders she committed.

Bold Will Katie office at Forrester

In the main office at Forrester Creations, Will tries to explain to his mom that the photos of Electra are deep fakes. While Katie remains skeptical, Will and Ivy stand their ground, with the Aussie pointing out this isn’t the first time her niece has been the victim of deep-fake photos. Katie realizes someone sent her those pictures on purpose. “It’s not like I don’t know about AI-generated images,” she says, “but I believed what I saw!” Everyone in the office offers up an After School Special type message about the dangers of AI. “Who wants to destroy her this time?” asks Will, failing to do the simple math which would show that Remy is the common denominator.

Will flashes back to highlights of his relationship with Electra before declaring this situation is unfair. Katie, Carter and Hope all agree that Electra will be rehired and receive an apology. “Whoever did this to Electra is downright evil,” muses Carter, leaving Will to realize that someone is out to get her. He finally realizes… nope, false alarm. He’s still clueless. For some reason, Katie flashes back to her firing of Electra. (Given the number of flashbacks, I’m guessing the episode ran short.) We get more lecturing about the dangers of AI (cut that old “The more you know” logo), with Hope wondering how many other victims are out there. “And as technology evolves, how many more” will we get, adds Carter. Will says he wants to get his hands on whoever did this, but Katie suggests whoever it was would try and hurt him, too. Will wants to find Electra and let her know that someone is out to get her.

    Crazy Remy Bold

More: The real crime behind the big Remy twist

In the final moments, Remy insists he has to make Electra understand. “I needed to prove to you that I’m the only one who could help you! All your supposed friends back in Dallas, they turned their back on you. But you’re so beautiful. You are the most perfect person.” He says that everyone they knew back in Dallas were losers, while he and Electra had dreams. (Did his involve cleaning Deacon’s grill? #AskingForAFriend) But she left him, came to Los Angeles and left him no choice. When she says she’s scared, he cries that he didn’t want to scare her. He loves her! She claims to love him, too, and when he takes a moment to wipe his eyes, Electra attempts to make a break for it. But he stops her, blocking the door before engaging in some serious victim blaming: “Don’t you realize all of it, the deep fake nudes, turning your life upside down… if you just feel about me the way I feel about you, none of it would have happened! Letting Will put his filthy hands on you, kiss you, touch you? Well, he is never going to touch you again!” (Dude might want to see who did and didn’t make the cut in the new opening credits, that’s all I’m sayin’… )

Bill sat across from Luna, his heart pounding in his chest. He couldn’t shake the feeling that she was hiding something from him, something important.

“Luna, I need to ask you something,” Bill began, his voice steady despite the nervousness bubbling inside him.

Luna looked up from her book, her eyes meeting his with a curious expression. “What is it, Bill?” she asked, a hint of concern in her voice.

“I need to know the truth,” Bill said, his words coming out in a rush. “I feel like you’re keeping something from me, something big. I can’t shake this feeling, and it’s driving me crazy.”

Luna’s expression softened, and she reached out to take his hand in hers. “Bill, I promise you, I have never lied to you. I would never keep anything from you that could hurt you. You mean too much to me.”

Bill felt a wave of relief wash over him at her words. He knew he could trust Luna, knew that she would always be honest with him.

“Thank you, Luna,” he said, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. “I believe you. I trust you completely.”

And with that, the weight that had been pressing down on Bill’s heart lifted, and he knew that no matter what, Luna would always be there for him, telling him the truth.
