The Boston Bruins will face a tough challenge as they take on the Columbus Blue Jackets, who boast an impressive four-headed attack. With players like Patrik Laine, Cam Atkinson, Oliver Bjorkstrand, and Jack Roslovic leading the charge, the Blue Jackets have the firepower to give any team trouble.

The Bruins will need to rely on their defensive prowess to slow down this potent offensive threat. Players like Charlie McAvoy and Matt Grzelcyk will need to step up and shut down the Blue Jackets’ top scorers. Additionally, goaltender Tuukka Rask will need to be on top of his game to keep the high-scoring Blue Jackets at bay.

It will be a tough test for the Bruins, but if they can contain Columbus’ four-headed attack, they will have a good chance of coming out on top. Fans can expect an exciting and intense matchup as these two teams battle it out on the ice.

Bail and court date set for man charged with strangling a KKCO/KJCT reporter in bias-related attack

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – Patrick Egan, the man arrested after allegedly attacking a KKCO employee, is still behind bars as of Monday.

In a new development today, court officials stated that Egan’s bail has been set at $20,000. He will appear in court on January 2, 2025, at 8:15 a.m.

Egan is facing charges of bias-motivated crimes, 2nd degree assault by strangulation, and harassment by following and ethnic intimidation. Bias-motivated crimes and 2nd degree assault are both felonies. The harassment charge is a misdemeanor.

According to police, Egan followed the reporter for several miles. Upon reaching the station, Egan rushed and tackled the victim and began choking them until he was restrained by several KKCO employees.

Egan was driving a Sunshine Rides taxi at the time of the incident. KKCO reached out to the company, and received the following statement from General Manager Kelly Millan:

“This type of behavior has no place in our society and I strongly condemn it. I deeply regret the harm and disruption this has caused the victim, his family and co-workers. Sunshine Rides has suspended Egan pending a full investigation, will assist law enforcement and will use this incident to re-emphasize our core values and expectations with our entire team.”

In a shocking turn of events, the man charged with strangling a KKCO/KJCT reporter in a bias-related attack has had his bail set and court date scheduled.

The incident, which occurred last week, sent shockwaves through the community as it highlighted the dangers faced by journalists simply doing their job.

The accused, whose name has not been released, is facing serious charges including assault and hate crimes. The court has set his bail at a substantial amount, reflecting the severity of the crime.

The court date has been scheduled for next month, where the accused will have to answer for his actions. The victim, thankfully, is recovering from the attack and has expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from the community.

This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of freedom of the press and the need to protect journalists from such senseless acts of violence. We will continue to follow this case closely and provide updates as they become available.

In the world of cybersecurity operations, being able to quickly and effectively respond to threats is crucial. One powerful tool in a cybersecurity professional’s arsenal is the command line interface, specifically using bash scripting to automate tasks and analyze data.

In this post, we’ll explore how cybersecurity professionals can leverage bash scripting to both attack and defend against threats, as well as analyze data to better understand and mitigate potential risks.

    Attacking with bash:
One common use case for bash scripting in cybersecurity operations is automating the execution of attack tools. By writing scripts that can quickly scan for vulnerabilities, exploit weaknesses, or launch denial of service attacks, cybersecurity professionals can more efficiently test the security of their systems and identify potential risks.

    Defending with bash:
On the flip side, bash scripting can also be used to defend against attacks. By writing scripts that monitor for suspicious activity, block malicious IP addresses, or automatically respond to security incidents, cybersecurity professionals can strengthen the security of their systems and better protect against potential threats.

    Analyzing with bash:
Finally, bash scripting can be a powerful tool for analyzing data and identifying patterns that may indicate a security threat. By writing scripts that can parse log files, analyze network traffic, or track system events, cybersecurity professionals can gain valuable insights into the security of their systems and take proactive steps to mitigate potential risks.

In conclusion, bash scripting is a versatile and powerful tool for cybersecurity operations. By using bash to both attack and defend against threats, as well as analyze data to better understand potential risks, cybersecurity professionals can more effectively protect their systems and data from malicious actors.

  • ‘Cosby Show’ actor Geoffrey Owens still ‘struggling’ to make ends meet after he quit Trader Joe’s gig over ‘attack on my privacy’

‘Cosby Show’ actor Geoffrey Owens still ‘struggling’ to make ends meet after he quit Trader Joe’s gig over ‘attack on my privacy’

“Cosby Show” actor Geoffrey Owens said he’s still struggling to make ends meet after he was forced to quit his job at a Trader Joe’s grocery store amid an “attack on my privacy”

Owens, known for his role as Elvin Tibideaux on the six-time Emmy-winning series, claimed he’s “not much better off” today than he was when a customer snapped a photo of the actor working behind the grocery store register in 2018.

“Even today, right now, as we speak, I still struggle to make a living,” Owens told Atlanta’s V-103 radio station on Dec. 18. “I struggle every day to make my ends meet. And people can’t get their heads around that because they see me in movies.

Geoffrey Owens still struggles to make ends meet as a working actor. Getty Images

Owens’ residual checks “were never particularly wonderful” because he only acted in “maybe 20% of shows” on the hit series.

“People have a false impression of what the average middle-class actor makes and their ability to make a living in the industry,” Owens said.

The Yale University graduate and son of former New York congressman Major Owens took a “regular” job and went mostly unnoticed until he was photographed working at Trader Joe’s.

“At first, there was some negative stuff about basically the job shaming. A ‘where is he now’ kinda thing,” Owens told V-103. “But then, very soon after that, there was all this support and encouragement from all over the world.”

Owens was worried about his invasion of privacy, so he left the job before this new gig went public.

“It was strange because someone had been in the store taking pictures,” Owens recalled. And I was like, now that this is breaking I’m not going to feel comfortable working in this store wondering who is around with a camera. It would just be too weird. I’m a very private person.

“It wasn’t like I quit knowing I would be making a lot of money soon or anything. I just felt like I wasn’t going to be able to handle that kind of scrutiny and attack on my privacy.”

When the news broke, an outpouring of support came his way.

Nicki Minaj sent him $25,000 but Owens donated the money to a charity because it “didn’t feel right to keep it” without working for it.

But he gladly accepted work in dozens of projects including acting gigs with powerhouses like Tyler Perry on the show “The Haves and the Have Nots” and the 50-Cent produced show “Power” and “Power Book II: Ghost.”

Owens currently stars on the CBS sitcom “Poppa’s House,” starring Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr.

The actor admitted that after the headlines calmed down, he went back to Trader Joe’s while acting and asked for more hours because money was — and is — still tight.

Bill Cosby, the star of the titular sitcom, and his fall from grace after numerous allegations of sexual misconduct led the series to be pulled from syndication and affected Owens’ bottom line, he said.

The three-time Golden Globe-winning “The Cosby Show” was pulled from syndication on several networks back in 2014 after Cosby was accused and eventually convicted of sexual assault — which he denied.

The man formally known as “America’s Dad” served three years of a 10-year prison sentence until Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court overturned the conviction in 2021.

“Yes, it impacted me financially. At the time that the show was pulled, that did make a difference in our income,” Owens told People in 2018.

During his V-103 interview, he reiterated that his residuals were “gone” after Bill Cosby’s scandal.

Geoffrey Owens, best known for his role as Elvin Tibideaux on The Cosby Show, made headlines in 2018 when photos of him working at Trader Joe’s went viral. Owens received an outpouring of support from fans and fellow actors, but ultimately decided to quit his job at the grocery store due to the invasion of his privacy.

However, nearly three years later, Owens is still facing financial struggles. In a recent interview, the actor revealed that he is “still struggling” to make ends meet and find consistent work in the industry. Owens expressed frustration over the fact that his career has not seen a significant resurgence since the Trader Joe’s incident.

Despite his challenges, Owens remains hopeful and grateful for the opportunities he has had in the past. He continues to pursue acting roles and is determined to overcome the setbacks he has faced.

The story of Geoffrey Owens serves as a reminder of the harsh reality of the entertainment industry and the challenges that actors often face, regardless of their previous success. It is a sobering reminder that fame and fortune are not guaranteed, even for those who have achieved success in the past.

  • Pistons vs Kings preview: Attack another Californian team

Pistons vs Kings preview: Attack another Californian team

There’s nothing like two middle-of-the-pack teams going at it a day after Christmas. A gift for all. These teams are eager to prove they can play on the big stage, too. The Detroit Pistons have been rolling prior to the Christmas Day slate. They’re riding a two-game winning streak over formidable foes and look to slap around another California team in the 13-17 Sacramento Kings.

    Game Vitals

    When: 10:00 pm ET
Where: Golden 1 Center, Sacramento, California
    Watch: FanDuel Sports Network Detroit
    Odds: Pistons +6

    Analysis

Hoping to avoid missing a fourth straight game, Iasiah Stewart is questionable to lace up tonight. Ron Holland joins him on the injury report with an illness, and he is questionable, too. Jalen Duren, who’s seen an uptick in minutes with Stew out, is probable to play as he deals with an ankle sprain.

Being without the two bigs would be massive against a team like the Kings, who have an All-Star center in Domontas Sabonis. The versatile big man puts up 21 points, 13.5 boards, and six assists on 60/41/79 splits. He’s dealing with an illness and is questionale to go tonight. The Kings lose part of their one-two punch if Sabonis is out. Paul Reed, who noticeably frustrated Anthony Davis, will be a thorn in Sabonis’ side if Sabonis does play and one of Stew or Duren doesn’t.

The other member of that duo will surely stress the defense tonight. De’Aaron Fox has been a blur since he came onto the scene in 2017 and remains one of the fastest players in the league. At 6-3, Fox routinely blows by defenders to get to the rim, where he’s shooting a wing-like 71%. Jaden Ivey, Asaur Thompson, and Holland (if he plays) need extra grip on their kicks tonight. Holland and Thompson specifically mucked up the Lakers game and helped bring that one home.

Cade Cunningham bought it on that side of the ball against LeBron and company. It’s infectious when your franchise pillar is contesting shots and making second efforts. Cade’s shot wasn’t falling against a suspect Lakers defense, so expect things to even out the 15th-ranked Kings defense with no go-to stoppers (Keegan Murray is solid, and Keon Ellis doesn’t play as much as he should).

DeMar DeRozan doesn’t help the King’s defensive infrastructure, but man, is he still a bucket. His 20 points per game have the Kings plus-1 with him on and off the court, per PBP stats. Derozan’s methodical mid-range approach hasn’t slowed down the King’s pace— they were 6th last year compared to 8th now. This very well may be a high-scoring thriller.

The Pistons offense has been slightly better than their hot-start defense. The offense hasn’t been anything to gloat about, but they’re coming off two impressive offensive performances against the Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns. Ivey was steady in those two outings after he missed the two games before those. His consistency is a forever talking point, and he can put together another great performance against a Kings team that struggles to contain off-guards.

    Projected Lineups

    Detroit Pistons (13-17)

Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, Tim Hardaway Jr., Tobias Harris, Jalen Duren

    Sacramento Kings (13-17)

De’Aaron Fox, Malik Monk, DeMar Derozan, Keegan Murray, Domantas Sabonis

    Question of the day:

How should the Pistons use their cap space as the trade deadline approaches?

The Detroit Pistons are set to take on the Sacramento Kings in a highly anticipated matchup. As the Pistons continue their West Coast road trip, they will be looking to attack another Californian team and secure a crucial win.

The Kings have been struggling as of late, and the Pistons will be looking to take advantage of their opponent’s weaknesses. With key players such as Jerami Grant and Cade Cunningham leading the charge, the Pistons have the firepower to come out on top in this matchup.

It will be important for the Pistons to maintain their defensive intensity and limit the Kings’ scoring opportunities. By controlling the pace of the game and executing their offensive game plan, the Pistons have a great chance to come away with a victory.

Be sure to tune in to see the Pistons take on the Kings and watch as they attack another Californian team in their quest for a win. Let’s go Pistons! #DetroitBasketball #PistonsvsKings #NBAPreview.

  • Syrians protest after video of attack on Alawite shrine

Syrians protest after video of attack on Alawite shrine

Angry protests broke out Wednesday in Syria over a video showing an attack on an Alawite shrine, with a war monitor saying one demonstrator was killed in Homs city.

In an unrelated incident in Tartus province, a stronghold of deposed ruler Bashar al-Assad’s Alawite minority, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor reported deadly clashes over the attempted arrest of a former official.

The Observatory said 14 security personnel of Syria’s new authorities and three armed men were killed in clashes in Tartus province when forces sought to arrest an Assad-era officer linked to the notorious Saydnaya prison.

In the central city of Homs, where protesters took to the streets earlier over the shrine attack video, the Britain-based Observatory said one demonstrator was killed and five others wounded “after security forces… opened fire to disperse” the crowd.

The Observatory reported thousands-strong demonstrations in the coastal cities of Tartus and Latakia, also an Alawite stronghold, as well as other areas, including Assad’s hometown of Qardaha.

Witnesses confirmed to AFP that demonstrations broke out in Tartus and Latakia and nearby Jableh, with some estimating the number of protesters in the thousands.

The protests are the largest by the Alawites since Assad’s fall earlier this month, and come a day after hundreds of Syrians protested in the capital Damascus against the torching of a Christmas tree.

Syria’s new Islamist rulers have sought to assure religious and ethnic minorities that their rights would be upheld.

The transitional authorities appointed by Islamist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), which led the offensive that toppled Assad, said in a statement that the shrine attack was not recent.

The footage showing “the storming and attack” of the shrine in Aleppo is “old and dates to the time of the liberation” of the northern Syrian city earlier this month, an interior ministry statement said.

It said the attack was carried out by “unknown groups” and that “republishing” the video served to “stir up strife among the Syrian people at this sensitive stage”.

Images from Jableh on Wednesday showed large crowds in the streets, some chanting slogans including “Alawite, Sunni, we want peace”.

“We are calling for those who attacked the shrine to be held to account,” said Ali Daoud, a protester in Jableh.

State news agency SANA said police in central Homs imposed a curfew from 6:00 pm (1500 GMT) until 8:00 am on Thursday, while local authorities in Jableh also announced a nighttime curfew.

    – ‘Calls for calm’ –

The Observatory said the protests erupted after a video began circulating Wednesday showing “an attack by fighters” on an important Alawite shrine in the Maysaloon district of Syria’s second city Aleppo.

It said five workers were killed and that the shrine was set ablaze.

Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman said the exact date of the video was unknown, but that it was filmed early this month, after the HTS-led offensive began in late November.

AFP was unable to independently verify the footage or the date of the incident.

The rebel forces launched a lightning offensive and seized control of major cities, among them Aleppo on December 1, before ousting Assad a week later.

Assad long presented himself as a protector of minority groups in Sunni-majority Syria.

In the city of Latakia, protester Ghidak Mayya, 30, decried “violations” against the Alawite community.

“For now… we are listening to calls for calm,” he said, warning that too much pressure on the community “risks an explosion”.

Fabrice Balanche, a Middle East expert from France’s University Lumiere Lyon 2, estimated the Alawite community’s numbers at around 1.7 million, or around nine percent of the Syrian population.

“The Alawites were very close to Bashar’s regime,” he said. “Their association with the regime risks provoking collective revenge against them — even more so as Islamists consider them heretics.”

    – Drug bust –

The new authorities meanwhile torched a large stockpile of drugs on Wednesday, according to two security officials, including one million pills of captagon whose industrial-scale production flourished under the deposed leader.

Captagon is a banned amphetamine-like stimulant that became Syria’s largest export during the country’s civil war since 2011.

“We found a large quantity of captagon, around one million pills,” said a balaclava-clad member of the security forces, who asked to be identified only by his first name, Osama.

An AFP journalist saw forces pour fuel over and set fire to a cache of cannabis, the opioid tramadol and around 50 bags of captagon pills in a security compound formerly belonging to Assad’s forces in the capital’s Kafr Sousa district.

“The security forces of the new government discovered a drug warehouse as they were inspecting the security quarter,” said another member of the security forces, who identified himself as Hamza.

Authorities destroyed the stocks of alcohol and narcotics in order to “protect Syrian society” and “cut off smuggling routes used by Assad family businesses”, he added.

Syria’s new Islamist rulers have yet to spell out their policy on alcohol, which has long been widely available in the country.

Since toppling Assad, Syria’s new authorities have said massive quantities of captagon have been found in former government sites around the country, including security branches.

In the wake of a disturbing video capturing an attack on an Alawite shrine circulating online, Syrians have taken to the streets in protest. The video, which shows a group of individuals vandalizing and setting fire to the shrine, has sparked outrage and condemnation from citizens across the country.

Many believe that the attack on the Alawite shrine is not just an act of vandalism, but a targeted and deliberate attempt to incite sectarian violence and unrest. The Alawite community, a minority group in Syria, has faced persecution and discrimination in the past, and this latest incident has only heightened tensions.

Protesters are demanding justice for the desecration of the shrine and calling for the perpetrators to be held accountable for their actions. They are also calling for unity and solidarity among all Syrians, regardless of their religious or ethnic backgrounds, in order to prevent further acts of violence and division.

As the situation continues to unfold, it is clear that the people of Syria are determined to stand together against hatred and intolerance. The attack on the Alawite shrine may have been a catalyst for protest, but it has also become a rallying cry for peace and unity in a country torn apart by conflict.
