49ers news: Tre Avery claimed off waivers from the Titans

The San Francisco 49ers might not have the services of cornerback Charvarius Ward in Week 18. Ward was ruled out for Monday night’s game against the Detroit Lions after he received news that his family is expecting a child.

Unless there are contract clauses we’re unaware of, there’s little reason for Ward to play next week, either. That would explain why the Niners claimed former Tennessee Titans cornerback Tre Avery off waivers, per the transaction wire.

Avery, an undrafted free agent from the 2022 NFL Draft out of Rutgers, played 103 snaps with the Titans this season on defense and special teams. He only logged two snaps on defense, so that tells you the 49ers are looking for depth on special teams. Avery has done most of his work on the punt coverage and return teams.

It’ll most likely be Yiadom, but I’m not sure the coaching staff is sold on his style of play. Regardless, these final two games are meaningless, other than the fact that there are valuable reps for the younger players, like Renardo Green, who has been exceptional as a rookie.

The San Francisco 49ers have made a move to bolster their secondary, claiming cornerback Tre Avery off waivers from the Tennessee Titans. Avery, a undrafted rookie out of Rutgers, will provide depth and competition at the cornerback position for the 49ers.

Avery impressed during training camp and the preseason with the Titans, showcasing his speed and coverage skills. The 49ers saw an opportunity to add a talented young player to their roster and jumped at the chance to claim him off waivers.

With injuries and uncertainty at the cornerback position, Avery could have an opportunity to earn playing time with the 49ers. His addition adds depth and competition to a position group that will be crucial for the team’s success this season.

Stay tuned for updates on Tre Avery and how he fits in with the 49ers as the season progresses. #49ers #TreAvery #NFL #Football #News

  • Player Commitment Is Essential To Kansas State’s Avery Johnson

Player Commitment Is Essential To Kansas State’s Avery Johnson

The transfer portal leaves uncertainty with star players coming and going.

But Kansas State quarterback Avery Johnson only focuses on those contributing to his team.

“If you wanna be here then stay, but if you don’t wanna be here, we’ll find somebody that does,” Johnson said ahead of the Rate Bowl Thursday night. “I think that’s the biggest thing nowadays with college football.”

Over the last month, the Wildcats have lost many players to the portal. Top wide receivers Keagan Johnson and Jayce Brown, as well as star tackle Carver Willis, were notable losses.

Despite the losses, Johnson said he would rather have players focusing on benefiting to K-State.

“At the end of the day, wherever you’re at, the work’s still the work,” Johnson said. “You gotta put the work in, you gotta love the game, and eventually it’ll reward you. Obviously, we want all the talented players and things to be here. But if you don’t really wanna be here, and you’re not here for the right reasons, we’re better off without you.”

Johnson and the Wildcats face the Scarlet Knights in Phoenix at 5:30 p.m. Johnson’s last bowl start was a 28-19 victory over North Carolina State last year. He went 14-of-31 for 178 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 71 yards and another score on the ground.

Player Commitment Is Essential To Kansas State’s Avery Johnson

Kansas State’s head basketball coach, Avery Johnson, knows that player commitment is essential to success on the court. Johnson has instilled a culture of hard work, dedication, and teamwork within his team, and it has paid off in big ways.

Johnson emphasizes the importance of players committing to the program, to their teammates, and to themselves. He pushes his players to give their all in every practice, every game, and every moment they are representing Kansas State.

Through this commitment, Johnson has been able to lead the Wildcats to multiple NCAA tournament appearances and has helped his players develop into strong, competitive athletes.

Player commitment is not just about showing up to practice or games; it’s about giving everything you have, both physically and mentally, to the team and the game. Johnson understands this and expects nothing less from his players.

As the Wildcats continue to grow and improve under Johnson’s leadership, one thing remains clear: player commitment is essential to their success. And with Johnson at the helm, the future looks bright for Kansas State basketball.

  • Kansas State Quarterback Avery Johnson Shares Biggest Regret This Season

Kansas State Quarterback Avery Johnson Shares Biggest Regret This Season

Kansas State quarterback Avery Johnson was asked about one thing he regretted this season Tuesday afternoon.

He simply said, “losing games.” But more specifically, he referenced the Wildcats’ blowout loss to BYU early in the season.

“I don’t like to lose,” Johnson said. “If I could have any of the losses back, it would probably be the BYU game. I feel like I failed my team as a leader that game; I didn’t step up when I needed to and wasn’t as vocal as I should’ve been. Obviously, my game translated that. I did some stuff that was just uncharacteristic of myself, trying to force and press things that normally I really don’t do in situations like that.”

Johnson went 15-of-28 for 130 yards and two interceptions against BYU, his worst performance of the year. His two picks gifted them 14 points and put the Wildcats in an early hole.

But even then, Johnson said he doesn’t necessarily lament this performance because he used it as a learning moment for the rest of the season. He didn’t have another multi-interception performance until Kansas State’s loss to Houston in November.

“I wouldn’t say I regretted it because I think that game was essential to my growth and only helped me,” Johnson said.

The Wildcats play Rutgers (7-5) Thursday night in the Rate Bowl.

In a recent interview, Kansas State quarterback Avery Johnson opened up about his biggest regret this season. Despite leading the team to several victories and impressive performances on the field, Johnson revealed that his biggest regret was not being able to secure a conference championship for his team.

“I feel like I let my teammates down,” Johnson said. “We worked so hard all season and came so close to achieving our goal, but ultimately fell short. It’s a tough pill to swallow, knowing that I could have done more to help us succeed.”

Johnson went on to express his disappointment in himself and vowed to learn from this experience and come back stronger next season.

“I know that I have to take this disappointment and use it as fuel to improve and come back even better next year,” Johnson added. “I owe it to my teammates, coaches, and all the fans who have supported us throughout the season. I will do everything in my power to make sure we reach our goals next season.”

Despite his regret, Johnson’s determination and drive to succeed are clear. With his leadership and talent, there’s no doubt that he will bounce back and continue to make a significant impact on the field. Kansas State fans can rest assured that Johnson will be working tirelessly to ensure a successful season next year.
