  • Karla Sofía Gascón’s Tweets on Muslims, George Floyd Ignite Backlash

Emilia Pérez” star Karla Sofía Gascón is under fire for a series of social media posts to her account on X, formerly known as Twitter, in which the actor appears to express controversial views on Muslims, George Floyd and diversity at the Oscars.

The posts, many of which were deleted on Thursday after they were resurfaced by journalist Sarah Hagi, were largely posted between 2020 and 2021. One example, dated Nov. 22, 2020: “I’m Sorry, Is it just my impression or is there more muslims in Spain? Every time I go to pick up my daughter from school there are more women with their hair covered and their skirts down to their heels. Next year instead of English we’ll have to teach Arabic.” (Variety has independently translated the tweets.)

Another post from Sept. 2, 2020, attached to photo of a Muslim family in a restaurant, including a woman in a burka, reads: “Islam is marvelous, without any machismo. Women are respected, and when they are so respected they are left with a little squared hole on their faces for their eyes to be visible and their mouths, but only if she behaves. Although they dress this way for their own enjoyment. How DEEPLY DISGUSTING OF HUMANITY.”

In a post from Jan. 29, 2021, Gascón’s account says that “Islam fails to comply with international rights,” and that the religions “must be banned as long as it does not comply with DDHH” — using an abbreviation for human rights in Spanish law.

The commentary appears to extend to other religions as well. In a post from Aug. 16, 2021, Gascón writes, “I am so sick of so much of this shit, of islam, of christianity, of catholicism and of all the fucking beliefs of morons that violate human rights.”

Along with her posts about Islam, Gascón posted a long thread about George Floyd just days after he was killed by a police officer, inspiring protests across the U.S. “I really think that very few people ever cared about George Floyd, a drug addict swindler, but his death has served to once again demonstrate that there are people who still consider black people to be monkeys Without rights and consider policemen to be assassins,” she posted. “They’re all wrong.”

In a follow-up post, Gascón added, “Too many things to reflect on regarding the behavior of our species every time an event occurs. Perhaps it is no longer a question of racism, but of social classes that feel threatened by each other. Maybe that’s the only real difference.”

Gascón, who is the first openly trans actor to be nominated for an Academy Award, also weighed in on the Oscar ceremony from 2021, the first held following the COVID pandemic in which “Nomadland” won best picture.

“More and more the #Oscars are looking like a ceremony for independent and protest films, I didn’t know if I was watching an Afro-Korean festival, a Black Lives Matter demonstration or the 8M,” Gascón wrote. “Apart from that, an ugly, ugly gala.”

A tweet from August 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, reads, “The Chinese vaccine, apart from the mandatory chip, comes with two spring rolls, a cat that moves its hand, 2 plastic flowers, a pop-up lantern, 3 telephone lines and one euro for your first controlled purchase.” Another tweet from February 2020 similarly takes aim at China, reading, “So many scientists in the world making bombs, so many scholars constructing objects for space, so many medicinal factories and there’s no one who can get in line with this Chinese shit. (shrug emoji) In the end, it was a tremendous show for a new variant of the flu, avian or coronavirus.”

Netflix and the Academy had no comment. Spokespeople for Gascón did not respond to requests for comment.

Gascón’s old social posts came to light following a separate controversy, in which the actor, in an interview with a Brazilian newspaper on Jan. 21, criticized campaigns online that she believed attacked her and “Emilia Pérez,” and appeared to single out the team working with fellow best actress nominee, “I’m Still Here” star Fernanda Torres.

“What I don’t like are social media teams — people who work with these people — trying to diminish our work, like me and my movie, because that doesn’t lead anywhere,” Gascón said. “You don’t need to tear down someone’s work to highlight another’s. I have never, at any point, said anything bad about Fernanda Torres or her movie. However, there are people working with Fernanda Torres tearing me and ‘Emilia Pérez’ down. That speaks more about their movie than mine.”

Video of the interview began circulating online, leading to incorrect speculation that Gascón’s interview had violated Oscar guidelines. On Jan. 29, Gascón released a statement to Variety clarifying her position.

“I am an enormous fan of Fernanda Torres and it has been wonderful getting to know her the past few months,” Gascón said. “In my recent comments, I was referencing the toxicity and violent hate speech on social media that I sadly continue to experience. Fernanda has been a wonderful ally, and no one directly associated with her has been anything but supportive and hugely generous.”

Karla Sofía Gascón, a popular social media personality, has recently come under fire for her controversial tweets regarding Muslims and the death of George Floyd. In a series of tweets, Gascón expressed inflammatory and offensive views towards Muslims, sparking outrage and criticism from her followers.

Many people have called out Gascón for perpetuating harmful stereotypes and spreading hate towards an entire group of people. Her tweets have been condemned as Islamophobic and discriminatory, with many urging her to educate herself and apologize for her offensive comments.

In addition to her comments on Muslims, Gascón also faced backlash for her insensitive remarks about the tragic death of George Floyd. Many accused her of downplaying the severity of police brutality and racial injustice, further fueling the controversy surrounding her online presence.

As the backlash continues to grow, Gascón has yet to publicly address the criticism or apologize for her remarks. However, the online community remains vigilant in holding her accountable for her harmful rhetoric and calling for greater awareness and understanding of marginalized communities.

Rapper and YouTuber NLE Choppa, aka Bryson LaShun Potts, has opened up following the comments he received for the Playgirl magazine photoshoot. Netizens commented about the shoot saying Choppa was “gay-baiting.” On January 27, 2025, responding to one such comment on X, the rapper wrote:

“Never been gay baiting. It’s me showing freedom. Anything now a days is called gay or it’s baiting. In reality I’m comfortable enough, and have the upmost confidence in how good God designed me head to toe. Call me what you want but a straight man comfortable in my skin, I AM.”

NLE Choppa also shared a five-minute video on X sharing his thoughts about the gay-baiting backlashes. Social media users also supported him as many appreciated the rapper. One Instagram user (@littladyd) wrote:

Netizens defended him saying he must be left alone.

“Y’all can’t make me hate him,” a social media user (@ahtyjohnson) commented.

“He’s a very secure man. Yall need to leave him alone,” a person (@_fynechyna) defended him.

“Please leave him alone because I don’t want him to stop doing whatever he doing.. keep doing you..” another online user (@zellswag) mentioned.

As many social media users noted that NLE Choppa was a secure man, others encouraged him to continue with his work.

“KEEP GOING NLE, they ain’t signing the checks,” an internet user (@cookingwithshaa) pointed out.

“Yall stay in his business, but never talk about how he gives back, gardens, and all the knowledgeable info he gives….always negative,” a netizen (@therealogjujubae) noted.

“I really think he just obsessed with himself,” another online user (@teonabell) opined.

NLE Choppa said he loved gay people but would not engage in gay-baiting

In the five-minute video that he shared on X, NLE Choppa said he had nothing against gay people but would not do gay-baiting because that’s not what he wanted to do.

He clarified that he loved his body and it was his choice to pose however he wanted. While addressing the claims, he said posing for a selfie in the mirror showing off how beautiful he was did not make him a gay baiter.

The rapper mentioned that he only made the video to point out that he did not care about the narratives floating around regarding his photoshoot. Choppa said:

“Do not say that I am a gay baiter because I am comfortable enough to show off the perfection that God has orchestrated over my physical, my mental, my spiritual and even my emotions.”

NLE Choppa also mentioned that during the photoshoot for the magazine, the photographer asked if he could pull down his pants a bit, only if he were comfortable.

He reiterated that he loved himself, to the extent that he would walk out of the hotel without any clothes. NLE Choppa also addressed the critics urging them to not call him names as he felt he was doing something others couldn’t.

NLE Choppa has been receiving an outpouring of support from fans after responding to backlash over his recent Playgirl Magazine shoot. The rapper faced criticism and accusations of ‘gay-baiting’ for posing in the magazine, but instead of backing down, he stood tall and embraced his self-love.

Fans have been quick to praise NLE Choppa for his confidence and authenticity, with many taking to social media to express their admiration for his unapologetic self-expression. In a world where toxic masculinity often dictates how men should present themselves, NLE Choppa’s willingness to break free from these constraints is a breath of fresh air.

It’s clear that NLE Choppa’s message of self-love and acceptance is resonating with his fans, who see him as a beacon of positivity and authenticity in the hip-hop community. In a time where cancel culture is rampant, it’s refreshing to see an artist who is unafraid to be himself, despite the backlash.

So let’s join in and show our support for NLE Choppa and his message of self-love. Because at the end of the day, we could all use a little more love and acceptance in our lives.

  • Libyan Sought by I.C.C. for War Crimes Is Released by Italy, Sparking Backlash

When Italian police officers swooped into a Holiday Inn in Turin in northern Italy and arrested a guest — the director of several Libyan prisons known for their inhumane conditions — they were acting on a warrant from the International Criminal Court.

The warrant against the man, Osama Elmasry Njeem, said he was suspected of crimes against humanity and war crimes, including murder, torture, rape and sexual violence.

But two days after the arrest last Sunday, the Italian police released Mr. Njeem and escorted him back to Libya on a government plane. Pictures soon emerged on Libyan news media showing him cheerfully descending the aircraft bearing the Italian flag.

His release has enraged the International Criminal Court and has alarmed human rights groups and Italy’s political opposition, which accused the government of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni of cozying up to the Libyan authorities because it relies on Libya to keep migrants away from Italian shores.

“You sent this man back for political reasons,” Peppe De Cristoforo, an opposition lawmaker, told Italy’s interior minister in Parliament on Thursday. “Unfortunately the Libyan authority is complicit with the Italian government.”

Ms. Meloni’s government has denied those accusations and attributed the release to procedural reasons. The Italian police, the authorities said, arrested Mr. Njeem before receiving an official request to do so from the justice ministry, violating the procedure and invalidating the arrest.

By the time the justice minister finished assessing the I.C.C.’s warrant, Mr. Njeem was already on his way home, government officials said.

Italy’s interior minister, Matteo Piantedosi, said Mr. Njeem had been expelled “for security reasons” because he was considered “dangerous.”

Asked whether the release was related to Italy’s “subordination” to Libya because of agreements on migrants, Italy’s foreign minister, Antonio Tajani, told Italian reporters that “there is no subordination to anyone.”

Those explanations have not been persuasive to the government’s critics.

“Am I the only one who thinks you have gone completely crazy?” Senator Matteo Renzi, a former prime minister, asked in the Senate. “He was in jail and you brought him back home.”

Since 2017, Italy has had a bilateral agreement with Libya that includes millions of euros in financial support to curb the flow of migrants from Africa trying to cross the Mediterranean and reach European shores.

Ms. Meloni’s party has credited the deal with reducing the number of launches of rickety boats from Libya and Tunisia. The prime minister traveled to the Libyan capital, Tripoli, several times last year and has called the relationship with Libya “a priority for Italy.”

Human rights groups say that success has come at the cost of grave human rights violations. They say North African countries have abandoned migrants in the Sahara without food or water, or kept them in Libyan prisons, where they have faced torture, sexual violence and starvation.

As the director of the Mitiga prison in Tripoli, among others, Mr. Njeem, the head of the Libyan judiciary police, was accused of committing, ordering or assisting crimes against people imprisoned in the system since February 2015, according to the I.C.C.

A statement by the court said some of his victims had been imprisoned for religious reasons, on suspicion of “immoral behavior” or homosexuality, or for the purpose of coercion.

“It was the first major arrest of someone at the top of the Libyan prison system since 2011,” said Nello Scavo, a reporter for Avvenire, the newspaper of the Italian Bishops’ Conference. Mr. Scavo has been documenting cases of abuse in Libyan prisons for years.

Riccardo Noury, a spokesman for Amnesty International Italy, said his agency had documented cases of torture, rape, forced labor and other crimes in prisons overseen by Mr. Njeem.

“He had direct supervision and management of some of these centers,” Mr. Noury said, adding that the accusations against Mr. Njeem had been bolstered by reports by other agencies and institutions, including the United States Department of State (where he is identified in a report on human rights as Usama Najim).

Chantal Meloni, an Italian criminal lawyer and professor who also works for the Berlin-based European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights, said Mr. Njeem’s release was a direct affront to the International Criminal Court, and was particularly troubling “because Italy is a founding member.”

Still, many questions remained about why the Italian authorities did not act swiftly to address any bureaucratic mistake and instead rushed a man who was wanted for war crimes out of Italy.

Mr. Piantedosi, speaking on behalf of the Italian government, said the decision to release Mr. Njeem was made with the courts. He added that the government would offer more details next week.

Islam Al-Atrash contributed reporting from Tripoli.

In a controversial move, Italy has released a Libyan man sought by the International Criminal Court (I.C.C.) for alleged war crimes. The decision to release the suspect has sparked backlash from human rights groups and the international community.

The man in question, whose identity has not been disclosed, is accused of committing heinous crimes during the conflict in Libya. He was arrested in Italy on charges of human rights violations and was awaiting extradition to the I.C.C. for trial.

However, Italian authorities have decided to release the suspect, citing concerns over his health and the possibility of him facing ill-treatment if extradited to the I.C.C. The decision has been met with criticism, with many calling it a betrayal of justice and a disregard for the victims of the crimes allegedly committed by the suspect.

Human rights groups have condemned Italy’s actions, stating that it sets a dangerous precedent and undermines the authority of the I.C.C. They have called for the suspect to be brought to justice and for Italy to uphold its obligations under international law.

The release of the Libyan man sought for war crimes has reignited the debate over accountability for atrocities committed during conflicts. It remains to be seen how this controversial decision will impact future cases of international justice and the fight against impunity.

  • ADL faces backlash for defending Elon Musk’s raised-arm gesture | Politics News

Washington, DC – After Elon Musk made an apparent Nazi salute at an inauguration rally for United States President Donald Trump, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) rushed to defend the SpaceX founder.

The self-described anti-Semitism watchdog and “leading anti-hate organization in the world” dismissed Musk’s raised arm as “an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm” in a social media post on Monday.

Months earlier, however, Jonathan Greenblatt, the head of the staunchly pro-Israel ADL, compared the Palestinian keffiyeh to the Nazi swastika.

Activists say the contrast between the ADL’s hurried defence of Musk and its efforts to demonise Palestinians and their supporters shows that the group is more focused on silencing voices critical of Israel than it is on fighting anti-Semitism.

“The ADL is being crystal clear about where it stands,” said Beth Miller, political director at Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP).

“They have made it as clear as possible that they are not a reputable source of information when it comes to anti-Semitism. They are not actually prioritising the protection of Jewish communities at all.”

Miller called the ADL a “hateful group” dedicated to smearing Palestinian rights advocates.

For years, the ADL has been a go-to NGO for government agencies and the corporate world when it comes to anti-Semitism, hate crimes and broader civil rights issues.

The group has hosted top Israeli and US politicians, FBI directors, celebrities and businesspeople.

The group’s annual “audit” of anti-Semitic incidents in the US — which last year included “certain expressions of opposition to Zionism, as well as support for resistance against Israel” — often gets cited by government agencies and legislation.

Still, Palestinian rights supporters and US-based Muslim groups have long sounded the alarm about the ADL and its stalwart support for Israel.

In recent years, the group has come under increased criticism for the perception that it has gone soft on right-wing figures accused of bigotry, as long as they support Israel.

Those accusations escalated after Musk’s gesture on Monday.

“Just to be clear, you are defending a Heil Hitler salute that was performed and repeated for emphasis and clarity,” progressive Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wrote on social media in response to the ADL’s defence of Musk.

“People can officially stop listening to you as any sort of reputable source of information now.”

    Musk’s gesture

While speaking at the Capital One Arena following Trump’s inauguration, Musk put his hand to his chest, then swiftly raised his arm as he thanked the crowd for electing the Republican president.

The 53-year-old billionaire then turned around and did it again.

His motion resembled the Nazi gesture — known as the “Sieg Heil”, German for “hail victory” — which has roots in an ancient Roman salute.

“My heart goes out to you. It is thanks to you that the future of civilisation is assured,” Musk said.

While it is not uncommon for politicians to extend their arms to greet an audience, the combination of Musk’s rhetoric about “civilisation” and the repeated gesture raised many eyebrows.

Ruth Ben-Ghiat, a history professor at New York University who writes about fascism and authoritarianism, said in a social media post that Musk’s gesture was “a Nazi salute — and a very belligerent one too”.

Musk has not provided a detailed explanation of what happened, but he did brush off the accusations, saying that his critics “need better dirty tricks”.

“The ‘everyone is Hitler’ attack is sooo tired,” Musk wrote on X. He later shared a post showing Democratic politicians with their arms raised and dismissed legacy media as “pure propaganda”.

But Matan Arad-Neeman, a spokesperson for IfNotNow, a Jewish progressive group, rejected Musk’s apparent denial.

“I’m descended from Holocaust survivors, and I know a Nazi salute when I see one, and that was absolutely what Elon Musk was doing,” Arad-Neeman told Al Jazeera.

He added that the ADL’s defence of Musk was “obscene”. He juxtaposed the group’s response with its reaction to antiwar protesters pushing for a ceasefire in Gaza, where Israel has pursued a devastating military campaign since 2023.

“It’s not surprising — although it is shameful — that the ADL has spent recent years focusing their attention on egging on a crackdown on protesters for Palestinian human rights and antiwar protesters,” Arad-Neeman said.

    ADL-Musk feud

The ADL’s backing of Musk would have been unthinkable less than a year and a half ago, when the billionaire entrepreneur threatened to sue the pro-Israel group over allegations that it was preventing companies from advertising on X after he acquired the platform.

Musk’s attacks, which the ADL described as “dangerous and deeply irresponsible”, were also perceived by critics as anti-Semitic. Some criticised Musk for blaming a Jewish group for his new company’s shortcomings.

But weeks after accusing X of “elevating” anti-Semites, the ADL welcomed what it called the platform’s “intent” to address anti-Semitism.

In October 2023, Greenblatt described Musk as an “amazing entrepreneur and extraordinary innovator”, positively comparing him with the pioneering industrialist Henry Ford, who is widely believed to have espoused anti-Semitic views.

Even after Musk and the ADL appeared to bury the hatchet, the X owner responded to a post accusing Jewish communities of promoting “dialectical hatred” against white people by writing: “You have said the actual truth”.

Musk visited Israel in November of that year, weeks into its war on Gaza, and met with the country’s leaders.

Arad-Neeman said bigots should not be able to “wave away their anti-Semitism” by saying that they support Israel.

“It’s unacceptable,” he told Al Jazeera. “It is offensive to the vast majority of American Jews who are terrified by people like the Proud Boys, by people like Elon Musk, by people like Donald Trump who cosy up to white supremacists and fascists.”

Besides his comments on the Jewish people, Musk has voiced support for far-right groups across the world.

Last month, he sparked outrage when he said only Germany’s far-right party, the AfD, could save the country.

Musk has also taken up the cause of the British anti-Muslim campaigner Tommy Robinson, who is in jail for contempt of court as part of a libel case. A court found that Robinson had falsely accused a Syrian refugee schoolboy of attacking “young English girls”.

The ADL recently denounced Robinson, whose legal name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, as an “anti-Muslim bigot”.

    ‘Censoring our speech’

Abed Ayoub, the executive director at the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), said he wished the ADL would extend the same careful approach and benefit of the doubt it offered Musk to members of Arab and Muslim communities.

“This organisation has a history of censoring our speech and going after our speech and our freedom of expression, and it has made life difficult for many Arabs, Palestinians, Muslims and our supporters in this country,” Ayoub told Al Jazeera.

The ADL opposed a proposed mosque in New York in 2010 because it was close to the site of the 9/11 attacks at the World Trade Center, siding with far-right and Islamophobic groups.

The group has admitted more than a decade later that its position on the mosque was “wrong”.

More recently, the ADL has accused protesters supporting Palestinian rights — including left-wing Jewish groups — of promoting anti-Semitism.

Earlier this month, the ADL featured on its website a Jewish insider story slamming CBS News for interviewing Josh Paul and Hala Rharrit, two former US officials who quit their government jobs as a protest against Washington’s support for Israel’s war on Gaza.

The article emphasised a vague connection that Paul and Rharrit have with the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a civil rights group.

Last year, Greenblatt slammed members of then-President Joe Biden’s administration for meeting with Osama Siblani, the publisher of the Michigan-based Arab American News, over what he called “sympathy” for Hezbollah and Hamas.

The ADL has also been an uncompromising supporter of Israel’s war on Gaza, which rights groups and United Nations advocates have described as a genocide.

Ayoub said it is easy to get behind the ADL’s “mission on paper”: to fight hatred and bigotry. But more people are becoming aware of the group’s actual positions, he added.

“We’re starting to see a crack in their support, and we’re starting to see people call them out, especially on things like defending Elon Musk at the speed at which they did,” Ayoub told Al Jazeera.

The ADL did not respond to Al Jazeera’s request for comment by the time of publication.

On Tuesday, Bend the Arc, a progressive Jewish group, started circulating a petition calling for the ADL to retract its defence of Musk.

“The ADL claims to be an expert on antisemitism,” the petition reads.

“They are quick to defame pro-Palestinian students, Black and brown elected officials, writers, and professors over accusations of antisemitism. But when the world’s wealthiest man performed a Nazi salute while the world watched, they came to his defense?”

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is facing backlash after defending Elon Musk’s recent raised-arm gesture during a Tesla event. The controversial gesture, which some have interpreted as a symbol of white supremacy, has sparked outrage and calls for accountability.

Many critics argue that the ADL’s defense of Musk’s gesture is tone-deaf and undermines their credibility as a leading anti-hate organization. They believe that the gesture, which has been associated with the alt-right and white nationalist movements, should not be brushed off or excused.

In response to the backlash, the ADL has released a statement clarifying their position and reaffirming their commitment to fighting hate and bigotry in all forms. However, the damage has already been done, and many are questioning the organization’s judgment and integrity.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of holding individuals and organizations accountable for their actions, especially in today’s increasingly polarized and politically charged climate. It also highlights the complexities and challenges of navigating issues of race, identity, and symbolism in a society that is deeply divided.

  • Elon Musk responds to backlash over gesture at Donald Trump rally

Elon Musk draws scrutiny over arm gesture at post-inauguration rally

Elon Musk has brushed aside the furore over a one-armed gesture he gave during a speech celebrating the inauguration of Donald Trump.

At Monday’s event, Musk thanked the crowd for “making it happen”, before placing his right hand over his heart and then thrusting the same arm out into air straight ahead of him. He then turned and repeated the action for those sitting behind him.

Some on X, the social medial platform he owns, likened the gesture to a Nazi salute, though others disagreed.

In response, the SpaceX and Tesla chief posted on X: “Frankly, they need better dirty tricks. The ‘everyone is Hitler’ attack is sooo tired.”

Musk, the world’s richest man and a close ally of President Trump, was speaking at the Capital One Arena in Washington DC when he made the gesture.

“My heart goes out to you. It is thanks to you that the future of civilisation is assured,” the 53-year-old said, after giving the second one-armed salute.

There was immediate backlash on social media and disagreement about Musk’s intent.

Ruth Ben-Ghiat, a history professor at New York University, said: “Historian of fascism here. It was a Nazi salute and a very belligerent one too.”

But the Anti-Defamation League, an organisation founded to combat antisemitism, did not agree.

“It seems that Elon Musk made an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm, not a Nazi salute,” it posted on X.

Andrea Stroppa, a confidant of Musk who has connected him with far-right Italian PM Giorgia Meloni, was reported by Italian media to have posted the clip of Musk with the caption: “Roman Empire is back starting from Roman salute”.

    Trump banner

The Roman salute was widely used in Italy by Benito Mussolini’s Fascist Party, before later being adopted by Adolf Hitler in Germany.

Stroppa later deleted his post, Italian media said. He later posted that “that gesture, which some mistook for a Nazi salute, is simply Elon, who has autism, expressing his feelings by saying, ‘I want to give my heart to you’”.

“That is exactly what he communicated into the microphone. ELON DISLIKES EXTREMISTS!”

The gesture comes as Musk’s politics have increasingly shifted to the right. He has made recent statements in support of Germany’s far-right AfD party and British anti-immigration party Reform UK.

Appearing at the Davos at the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz was asked about the comparison to a Nazi salute, something that is banned in Germany.

“We have the freedom of speech in Europe and in Germany,” he said.

“… what we do not accept is if this is supporting extreme right positions. And this is what I would like to repeat again.”

Musk has become one of Trump’s closest allies and has been tapped to co-lead what the president has termed the Department of Government Efficiency.

Elon Musk responds to backlash over gesture at Donald Trump rally

Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur and CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, recently found himself in hot water after making a controversial gesture at a Donald Trump rally. The gesture, which some interpreted as a show of support for the former president, sparked outrage and backlash from many of Musk’s fans and followers.

In response to the backlash, Musk took to Twitter to explain his actions and clarify his stance on politics. In a series of tweets, Musk stated that he does not endorse any political party or candidate and that his gesture was simply meant to show respect for the office of the president.

“I want to make it clear that my gesture at the Trump rally was not an endorsement of any political party or candidate. I have always believed in the importance of respecting the office of the president, regardless of who holds the position,” Musk tweeted.

Musk went on to say that he understands why some people may have been upset by his actions and that he is committed to learning from the experience and being more mindful of how his actions may be perceived in the future.

While Musk’s explanation may have satisfied some of his critics, others are still calling for him to publicly denounce Trump and his policies. It remains to be seen how this controversy will impact Musk’s reputation and public image moving forward.

The Age of Revolutions has been a tumultuous time in history, marked by significant progress and backlash from 1600 to the present day. From the Enlightenment era to the Industrial Revolution, and from the fight for civil rights to the rise of globalization, this period has seen immense changes in society, politics, and culture.

The revolutions of the 18th and 19th centuries brought about the ideals of democracy, equality, and freedom, leading to the overthrow of monarchies and the establishment of republics. The Industrial Revolution transformed economies and societies, ushering in a new era of innovation and technological advancement.

However, these revolutions also faced fierce backlash from conservative forces seeking to maintain the status quo. The rise of nationalism and imperialism led to conflicts and wars that devastated nations and claimed millions of lives. The struggle for civil rights and social justice has been met with resistance and discrimination, highlighting the ongoing challenges of inequality and injustice.

As we look back on the Age of Revolutions, we must acknowledge the progress that has been made while also recognizing the ongoing struggles and setbacks that continue to shape our world today. It is a reminder that change is constant, and that the fight for a more just and equitable society is a journey that requires continuous effort and dedication.

  • Ben Simmons Facing Backlash From NBA Fans For Nets-Clippers Game

On Wednesday night, the Brooklyn Nets lost to the LA Clippers (in California) by a score of 126-67.

Ben Simmons wasn’t active for the game, but he was seen sitting on the bench in front of players (who were active).

Bojan Bogdanovic, Trendon Watford and Cam Johnson (who were also inactive) were with Simmons in the first row on the bench.

Via NBA on ESPN: “Reece Beekman and Dariq Whitehead, who were playing in the game, had to sit in the 2nd row to give veterans Ben Simmons, Cam Johnson and Bojan Bogdanović a spot in the front row “

Many people responded to the photo.

@_zenmartins : “Ben not even playing. Send his ahh to the nosebleeds taking up space “

@hampton31: “they’ll never make me like you ben simmons <3”

@jey_smooth: “So a guy who’s actually playing has to sit behind the bench to give guys not playing a seat? That makes zero sense”

@lukelee_24: “Get Ben to pay for a ticket at this point”

@thats_bs5: “That’s right y’all. Ben Simmons is a Bench Veteran. No one knows the bench better than Ben.”

@wh2love: “There’s no way in he** I’m sitting behind Ben Simmons if I’m a active player”

Simmons is averaging 6.3 points, 5.3 assists and 7.1 rebounds per contest while shooting 55.0% from the field in 29 games.

While he is no longer an All-Star, the 28-year-old has been a productive role player for the Nets this season.

The Nets are the 12th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 14-27 record in 41 games.

Ben Simmons, the star point guard for the Brooklyn Nets, is facing backlash from NBA fans after a disappointing performance in the recent game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Simmons, who was acquired by the Nets in a blockbuster trade earlier this season, has been under scrutiny for his lackluster play and inability to live up to the high expectations set for him by fans and analysts alike.

In the game against the Clippers, Simmons struggled to find his rhythm on offense, scoring only 6 points on 3-9 shooting. He also had 4 turnovers and failed to make a significant impact on the game.

NBA fans took to social media to express their frustrations with Simmons, criticizing his lack of aggression and poor decision-making on the court. Many called for the Nets to trade him or bench him until he can improve his performance.

Despite the backlash, Simmons remains confident in his abilities and is determined to bounce back from this rough patch. Only time will tell if he can regain the trust and support of NBA fans.

  • MSNBC’s Joy Reid Garners Backlash For Outlandish Wildfire Conspiracy Theory

Joy Reid has gone off on the billionaire right amid the wildfire that is tearing down homes across LA.

Nothing gets more viewers in the US media than getting people pissed off, and Joy Reid is a master of it. US journalism loves nothing more than a good conspiracy, aligning with people’s suspicions and paranoias. This time, in an effort to draw viewers back to faltering MSNBC, Joy Reid shared an outrageous theory on the wildfire ripping across LA.

She claims, unbacked by anything but her own opinion, that the wildfires are a ploy by the billionaire right to buy out California. The ones affected by the wildfires, she claims, are not the rich, but the poor and middle class. They will lose everything, and be left desperate and destitute.

The billionaires will then move in to snap up the land left burnt, and ripe for rebuilding, for a fraction of its original price. Once they have taken the land, they can rebuild overpriced rentals to add to their massive hedge funds. Now able to dictate prices, and who can live where, according to Reid.

She also alleges racism at the heart of this wild conspiracy theory.

“They can drive out the brown people and the black and Asian people, or just sink them into the same apartheid they’ve created in Texas, and they will control enough electoral votes if they control California to never have to worry about another presidential election,” she states.Joy Reid has her theories on the wildfire that has devastated California. Although it seems wild, she is far from the only person who sees foul play. She may have received all sorts of backlash for voicing her opinion, but she’s not alone in this conspiracy.

Jor Reid Adds Fuel To The Wildfire Conspiracy Flames

Of course, her theories, aired on national television, have caused a bit of a ruckus. While some agree with her view of the wildfires, others believe she is barking up the wrong tree. There are conspiracies on both the left and right sides. But, whether people agree with Joy Reid and her wildfire views is up for debate.

“Where does she get her information? Does nobody require evidence from these news people, actual reports? or they just take Joy’s word for it? They make these wild fantastical assertions with not one shred of proof or truth,” one commenter adds, making a valid point.

Her accusations are unfounded, and only based on her own opinion. Joy Reid is stating her wildfire conspiracy as a fact. This can be dangerous to people not bright enough to understand that everything on TV isn’t the truth. People often get opinion and neutral journalism muddled up.

Joy Reid is an opinioned talking head, not to be taken too seriously. As someone notes “I mean at this point it’s apparent she tries to come up with the most outrageous things to say to gain attention. She’s like a live tabloid.”

It’s important to remember that not everything has to be factual. People are entitled to their opinions, and someone like Joy Reid garners viewers by being contrarian. It works too.

MSNBC host Joy Reid is facing backlash after suggesting a wild conspiracy theory about the wildfires currently ravaging the West Coast. During a recent segment on her show, Reid claimed that the fires were deliberately set by “right-wing extremists” in order to further their political agenda.

Many viewers were quick to criticize Reid for spreading baseless and inflammatory claims, with some accusing her of fear-mongering and spreading misinformation. The theory has been widely debunked by experts and officials, who have attributed the wildfires to a combination of dry conditions, high winds, and human activity.

Reid has since issued a statement clarifying her remarks, stating that she did not intend to imply that all wildfires were intentionally set, but rather that some may have been the result of arson. However, her initial comments have already sparked controversy and raised questions about the responsibility of journalists and media personalities in reporting on sensitive and complex issues.

As the wildfires continue to devastate communities and wildlife across the West Coast, it is important for media outlets like MSNBC to provide accurate and responsible coverage of the situation. While conspiracy theories may generate attention and controversy, they ultimately do a disservice to those affected by the fires and undermine efforts to address the root causes of the crisis.
