Mark Wahlberg Is a Balding, Unhinged Hitman in ‘Flight Risk’ Trailer

Directed by Mel Gibson, the thriller will hit theaters Jan. 24

Mark Wahlberg plays an unhinged, balding hitman masquerading as a chatty helicopter pilot in a new trailer for Mel Gibson’s upcoming thriller, Flight Risk.

The film also stars Michelle Dockery, an Air Marshal escorting a nervous fugitive — played by Topher Grace — to New York City, where he stands to testify against the head of a crime family. But the friendly, smooth-talking pilot who is tasked with flying the duo over the Alaskan wilderness, is actually an assassin-for-hire whose mission is to take out the witness at all costs.

“Tensions soar and trust is tested, as not everyone on board is who they seem,” reads the film’s log line.

Flight Risk hits theaters Jan. 24, pushed back from its original Oct. 18 premiere.

Directed by Gibson, it marks the 68-year-old’s return to the director’s chair after the acclaim he received for Hacksaw Ridge in 2016, which earned him Academy Award nominations for Best Director and Best Picture.

In the upcoming film “Flight Risk,” Mark Wahlberg takes on the role of a balding, unhinged hitman with a penchant for danger. The newly released trailer showcases Wahlberg’s intense performance as he navigates a web of deceit and betrayal, all while facing his own inner demons.

From high-octane action sequences to heart-pounding suspense, “Flight Risk” promises to be a thrilling ride from start to finish. Wahlberg’s portrayal of the troubled hitman is sure to leave audiences on the edge of their seats, as he grapples with the consequences of his deadly profession.

The skies are a lot less friendly to fly with a balding, unhinged Mark Wahlberg in the pilot seat.

That’s the takeaway from the new trailer for “Flight Risk,” a thriller from Mel Gibson, who is exchanging the battlefields of Scotland (“Braveheart”) and the Pacific Theater (“Hacksaw Ridge”) for an in-flight face-off between Wahlberg’s psycho killer and Michelle Dockery’s FBI agent. She’s been tasked with escorting a government witness (Topher Grace) to trial; He’s got a contract to shoot the turncoat before he can sing. The two collide on a small plane that’s charting a course over the Alaskan wilderness.

Wahlberg is clearly having the time of his life as the follically challenged hitman, which is a departure from his typical heroic roles. Dockery, best known for her upper crust turn on “Downton Abbey,” is also playing against type. Lionsgate is releasing the movie on Jan. 24.  “Flight Risk” was written by Jared Rosenberg.

Wahlberg and Gibson recently collaborated on “Father Stu,” a faith-based drama that hit theaters in 2022. Gibson, whose A-list career was derailed by a series of off-screen controversies, hasn’t directed a film since 2016’s “Hacksaw Ridge,” which earned him an Oscar nomination. He previously won an Academy Award for “Braveheart” and also oversaw “Apocalypto” and “The Passion of the Christ.” He’s planning to make a follow-up to the religious epic.

Wahlberg was last seen in Netflix’s “The Union,” a spy comedy that co-starred Halle Berry. Dockery appeared in “Here” alongside Tom Hanks and Robin Wright. And Grace appeared in the well-received horror film, “Heretic.”

In his latest role, Mark Wahlberg takes on the character of a balding, psychotic killer in the upcoming thriller film “Descent into Madness.”

Wahlberg’s transformation for the role is jaw-dropping, as he completely embodies the twisted and unhinged nature of his character. With a shaved head, dark circles under his eyes, and a chilling stare, Wahlberg is almost unrecognizable in this intense and dark role.

As the story unfolds, we see Wahlberg’s character descend further into madness as he goes on a killing spree, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake. His performance is haunting and unforgettable, showcasing his versatility as an actor.

“Descent into Madness” promises to be a thrilling and suspenseful ride, with Wahlberg at the helm as the terrifying and unpredictable killer. Don’t miss this gripping film, coming soon to theaters near you.
