Hollywood Is ‘Detached’ From What Families Want. Nate Bargatze Will Change That.

While hosting a live comedy show for TODAY, Nate Bargatze shared how he currently feels about his comedy career and the plans he has for the future.

“It doesn’t feel like it’s happening to you,” Bargatze told TODAY’s Willie Geist. “Even back there, I was like, ‘I don’t know what anybody would want to hear me say.’”

“It’s a lot to take in,” he continued. “Maybe you take it in later at another time. Maybe you sit back and really think. Right now you stay in it, and you be as good as you possible can be.”

Since Bargatze’s career took off during the pandemic, he has reached career milestone after career milestone. He has landed multiple Netflix specials, headlined national tours, sold out massive arenas and hosted SNL twice. On top of that, Bargatze has created his own comedy banner which provides up-and-coming clean comedians a chance to connect with audiences.

Now, Bargatze is focusing his career on that comedy banner and may even take a step back from performing to fully focus on that business.

“I think entertainment, you see with Hollywood, it’s very much detached from what people want to see,” he said. “People are not making stuff for families to even go to.”

In response, Bargatze wants to make and highlight content that can be enjoyed by families because he believes that entertainment is meant to draw people together. His Christmas holiday variety show, which he ran with CBS, for example, was made specifically for families to watch together.

“I’m extremely excited to be creating this special as I have long been a big fan of variety, and we don’t see enough of it,” Bargatze said last fall. “I want to make a great show for families to gather around and watch together and I couldn’t be in better hands than with this team.”

He also wants families to enjoy wholesome movies, which is why he’s starring in THE BREADWINNER.

Nate Bargatze Challenges Noah Kahan To Write About Something Other Than Vermont: Watch

If you know anything about Noah Kahan, you probably know that he’s from Vermont. The singer-songwriter’s home state informs a lot of his music, as well as his overall vibe. There was a segment where Bargatze played a record label exec who unsuccessfully challenged Kahan to write a song about anything besides Vermont. Then, Kahan did a performance of “Stick Season,” his signature song about feeling lonely… in Vermont. (more…)
