  • Saquon Barkley’s girlfriend Anna Congdon rocks icy white fit for Eagles snow game

The Philadelphia Eagles are headed to the NFC Championship game after scoring a huge victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, January 19, a game that saw Eagles superstar Saquon Barkley dominate with 205 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns.

One person in attendance for the Eagles’ marquee playoff victory was Anna Congdon, Barkley’s longtime girlfriend, who is the mother of the 27-year-old player’s two children: Jada 7, and Saquon Jr., 2. Congdon released a photo on her Instagram Stories ahead of the game showing her rocking a white designer winter coat along with matching white leather pants. The fit wasn’t only stylish but also looked to keep Congdon warm as Philadelphia was being pelted with snow.

Congdon has supported Barkey for the duration of his NFL career, which began in 2018 when he was drafted by the New York Giants. Barkley signed with the Eagles ahead of the 2024-2025 season and is a big reason why the Birds are headed to the Conference Championship game after rushing for over 2,000 years during the season.

  • Saquon Barkley’s respect for Derrick Henry – NBC Sports Philadelphia

Saquon Barkley’s respect for Derrick Henry – NBC Sports Philadelphia

As Saquon Barkley explained the emotions he was feeling after the end of his record pursuit this week, he was asked about winning the rushing title in 2024.

    Not so fast.

“I gotta be careful what I say because Derrick (Henry) can still get that, you know what I mean?” Barkley said. “He’s a special player and you can’t count him out of anything.”

It’s clear that Barkley has a ton of respect for Baltimore’s Derrick Henry, who enters Week 18 with 1,783 rushing yards. Henry is 222 yards away from Barkley so it’s obviously a long shot as the Ravens get ready to play the Browns, but Barkley isn’t counting Henry out.

Barkley actually spoke with Henry on Wednesday. Two of the best running backs in the NFL have grown close. They were rooting for each other this offseason in free agency as they moved on from their former teams and they’ve been rooting for each other throughout this historic season.

When it was brought up to Barkley, who hit 2,000 rushing yards on the season last week, that the first eight members of the 2K Club have failed to get back to that mark, he quickly mentioned King Henry.

Henry finished with 2,027 yards back in 2020 with the Titans and this is now the second-best season of his incredible career.

“Derrick Henry could do it,” Barkley said.

Then it was brought up that Henry was 217 yards shy of 2,000 for the 2024 season.

“I’m not gonna lie, I knew that number,” Barkley said. “I talked to him today. He was talking to me to see if I was going to get [the record]. Obviously, the news came out that I’m sitting. I told him you could do something special too. Be the first one to do it twice. You never know.”

    Get a paw up there

Jalen Carter has the ability to wreck games. You see him beat double-teams, knife into the backfield, hit quarterbacks and take down running backs. All the things that garner acclaim.

But there’s another thing Carter has been exceptionally good at in 2024.

He’s batting down passes at a really high rate. After he didn’t have a single pass breakup as a rookie in 2023, Carter has batted down six passes this season. His sixth came on Sunday against the Cowboys and he nearly swatted the ball into the arms of teammate Nolan Smith.

Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said that ability is just “innate” in some players.

“Yeah, he’s got a knack for it,” Fangio said. “That’s usually what it is. Some guys have a knack for it. He seems to have a knack for it. It’s been good.”

Carter has his own theory on why he’s been so good at batting pass.

“I think that’s from when I played offense in high school,” he said. “I’m used to running routes, little drags down the middle and stuff, catching the ball. Usually when I’m rushing and I see it’s not going to be a rush where I can get a sack or something, I can real a quarterback’s eyes and I can tell where somebody is coming behind me and I can get my hand up.”

Carter’s six batted passes are second among defensive tackles in the NFL this season behind just Cameron Hayward, who has eight. And this is the most batted passes for any Eagles DT since at least 1999.

Trevor Laws batted 5 passes in 2010, Darwin Walker had 5 in 2003 and the most Fletcher Cox ever had in a season was 3 in his rookie season in 2012. Carter has more batted passes this year than the rest of the Eagles’ DTs combined: Jordan Davis (2), Thomas Booker (1), Milton Williams (1).

    Opportunity for Tanner

You’ll hear a bunch of people call Sunday’s Week 18 game against the Giants “meaningless.” And from a playoff seeding perspective, it is.

But this game has plenty of meaning for the backup Eagles who will get a rare chance to show their ability in a regular season game. The top guy on that list is third-string quarterback Tanner McKee, who will make his first NFL start.

“This is my chance to play a significant amount of snaps, reps, and to go out and show what I’ve been working for this whole year,” McKee said. “Obviously, been putting in a ton of work for myself on the practice field and different things like that. I feel like I can showcase that and I’m super excited for the opportunity.”

The Eagles drafted McKee in the sixth round out of Stanford last season and have been developing him since. Last week against the Cowboys, McKee made his NFL debut in relief of the injured Kenny Pickett and played well. McKee completed 3 of 4 passes for 54 yards and 2 touchdowns. His only incompletion was a great ball to A.J. Brown in the end zone but Brown wasn’t able to keep his feet in bounds.

McKee, 24, said this is a big opportunity to show his team and the rest of the league what he can do. It’s also a chance for a big confidence-boost.

Even though McKee has barely played all year, he thinks he has improved as a quarterback.

“I feel like almost having another season under my belt with the offense, just feeling more comfortable,” he said. “Everything’s happening second-nature with different checks or where your eyes should be. Just not thinking as much, being able to see the defense, look off guys or just confirm things a little quicker with your eyes.”

    Harnessing Sydney Brown’s aggression

From the first play last Sunday against the Cowboys, Eagles second-year safety/special teamer Sydney Brown wasn’t afraid to mix it up with the opponent in a chippy game.

Eventually, Brown was tossed in the fourth quarter for body-slamming a Cowboys player in the tunnel after two Cowboys went after him.

“Unfortunate that it ended up with a brawl, but that’s just something we make a learning experience for Sydney,” Eagles special teams coordinator Michael Clay said. “When the whistle blows, so he doesn’t put anybody else in a bad predicament going forward. When you have a guy like Sydney Brown you’re not going to take away his tenacity. You got to make a learning point to hone in that emotion after the play stops just so you don’t put anybody else in a bad spot.”

The week before, starting safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson was ejected against the Commanders. And you can also toss in defensive tackle Jalen Carter as a player who routinely plays up to (and sometimes slightly over) the line of aggression.

It’s about finding that balance. But Clay definitely appreciates the edge and emotion that Brown brings to special teams.

“Sydney does it through a physicality standpoint, especially on the outside,” Clay said. “So he does bring an edge. You always want your guys to back each other up. I think they do a good job on special teams of backing each other up and trying to get out of those dustups and make sure we don’t lose anybody going forward.”

    Developing talent in the NFL

Nick Sirianni always talks about the developmental periods the Eagles hold after practice for their younger players. So as they get ready to play a game where a lot of those guys are going to play, he was asked more about those developmental periods.

Sirianni said that Frank Reich had similar practice periods in Indianapolis when Sirianni was an offensive coordinator and the Eagles had done it before he arrived too. So it was a no-brainer to keep doing them.

    Sirianni on Friday explained why.

“It’s just so important,” Sirianni said. “When you’re on the scout team and you’re not getting a lot of the reps with the starters, then you don’t rep your plays, right? You’re doing what a card says. It’s a lot different running a play when you hear it in the huddle and have to go process it and go do it, one of our plays, as opposed to looking at a card, ‘Do this.’ It’s just different. We’ve got to try to put them in positions to develop.”

While Sirianni said he didn’t want to give away all of their methods to develop talent, he did offer one more detail. On Friday or Saturday — it’s up to the position coach — those scout team players have an extra meeting to go over their practice reps. The Eagles have to always prepare their starters to play but they want to keep bringing along their backups too.

In a recent interview with NBC Sports Philadelphia, Saquon Barkley opened up about his respect for fellow running back Derrick Henry. Barkley praised Henry’s work ethic, physicality, and ability to dominate on the field.

Barkley, who is known for his own explosive playing style, spoke highly of Henry’s impressive performance in the 2020 season, where he rushed for over 2,000 yards and won the NFL rushing title.

“He’s a beast out there. The way he runs through defenders and makes big plays happen is truly inspiring,” Barkley said. “I have a lot of respect for his game and the way he approaches every matchup.”

The two running backs have faced off on the field before, with Henry’s Tennessee Titans coming out on top in their most recent meeting. Despite the competition, Barkley expressed admiration for Henry’s skillset and the impact he has on the game.

“It’s always a battle when you go up against a player like Derrick. He’s a force to be reckoned with, and I have nothing but respect for him,” Barkley added.

As both players continue to make their mark in the NFL, it’s clear that Barkley holds Henry in high regard both on and off the field. Fans can expect to see more explosive performances from these two talented running backs in the seasons to come.

  • JJ Redick responds to Charles Barkley’s comments on his job security

JJ Redick responds to Charles Barkley’s comments on his job security

LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles Lakers coach JJ Redick chose not to further engage in a public spat with Charles Barkley after the Hall of Fame analyst criticized Redick’s team and questioned his job security on Thursday’s “Inside the NBA” broadcast.

“I didn’t make it all the way through the clip, I got to be honest with you,” Redick said Friday before the Lakers hosted the Atlanta Hawks. “My resting heart rate is probably 64 [beats per minute]. I watched the clip, it was 64. Literally don’t care. I have other thoughts, but don’t care.”

Barkley was responding to what Redick said Dec. 19 when L.A. played the Sacramento Kings when the Lakers coach shared his opinion on the state of NBA coverage in light of national TV ratings dwindling compared to past seasons.

“[Redick] said something about we’re the reason people ain’t watching this crappy product we got. … Yeah, us,” Barkley said. “Like we’re out there jacking up a hundred 3s a night.”

When Redick first broached the ratings issue, he argued against the widespread belief that the volume of 3-point shots being taken is prompting too many teams to play the same style and making the games less interesting.

“I don’t think the league is as homogenized as a lot of people make it out to be,” Redick said at the time. “There are certain rosters and certain players that because of their skill set, it makes sense to shoot a lot of 3s. What I think gets lost a little bit in the amount of 3-point attempts is what has been taken away, which is a steady decline in long 2s.”

Redick said that 3s have also led to an uptick in points near the basket, as defenses cannot simply clog the inside because they must have personnel spread out on the perimeter to guard deep shots.

“The 3 has allowed more space for people to actually score at the rim and score in the paint,” Redick said. “So that’s the strategy.”

Redick, a former NBA analyst for ESPN, also offered a lengthy take on how the game is covered by the league’s television rights partners in TNT and ESPN.

“I don’t think we as — and by we, I was part of it — we as the sort of national partners have done a good job of storytelling, of celebrating the game,” Redick said. “If I’m a casual fan and you tell me every time I turn on the television that the product sucks, well I’m not going to watch the product. And that’s really what has happened over the last 10 to 15 years. I don’t know why. It’s not funny to me. Nothing is entertaining to me. This game should be celebrated.”

Redick refrained from naming names in delivering his critique. However, Barkley, apparently, believed it was directed at him.

“JJ, you come for the king, you better not miss,” Barkley said, paraphrasing a line from the character Omar from “The Wire” on HBO. “Because I can get you, brother. Remember, I got your Lakers games. You can’t hide them flaws they got. You’re just a dead man walking. They got rid of Frank Vogel, who did a good job. They got rid of Darvin Ham, who did a good job. But you came out there thinking you were going to change things with that same ugly girl you went on a date with. The Lakers stink.”

Long before Barkley suggested Redick’s job could be in jeopardy, the first-year coach acknowledged it himself. Before his first training camp coaching the Lakers even began, he told ESPN: “There’s no assurances in this industry. I recognize that at any point in time, I could be let go. That’s a reality.”

Barkley continued: “He came in there thinking, ‘I can make this thing work.’ The hell you can. You can put some makeup on that pig. The Lakers stink, man. Come on, man.”

L.A. is currently No. 6 in the Western Conference with a 19-14 record.

Redick is not the first Lakers figure to be involved in a tête-à-tête with Barkley.

In 2017, while playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers, LeBron James ripped into Barkley as well.

“He’s a hater,” James told ESPN at the time. “What makes what he says credible? Because he’s on TV?”

In a recent interview, NBA analyst Charles Barkley criticized JJ Redick’s performance on the court and questioned his job security in the league. Redick, known for his sharpshooting abilities, responded to Barkley’s comments with grace and confidence.

In a statement released to the media, Redick addressed Barkley’s concerns by stating, “I have been in the league for over a decade and I have proven time and time again that I am a valuable asset to any team I play for. I am confident in my abilities and my work ethic, and I will continue to work hard to contribute to my team’s success.”

Redick went on to say that he respects Barkley’s opinion as a former player and analyst, but ultimately, he is focused on proving his doubters wrong and silencing his critics on the court.

Fans of Redick rallied behind him, showing their support on social media and applauding his professionalism in handling Barkley’s comments.

As the NBA season continues, all eyes will be on Redick as he looks to prove his worth and solidify his place in the league.

Lakers coach JJ Redick responds to Charles Barkley’s criticism: ‘Literally don’t care’

LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles Lakers coach JJ Redick said he was unfazed by TNT analyst Charles Barkley’s criticism of the Lakers coach when asked about it Friday ahead of Los Angeles’ home matchup with the Atlanta Hawks.

“I read a random text from somebody after the game,” Redick said. “I went to look at my phone and it says something about Charles Barkley. And I’m like, ‘Huh?’ … I didn’t make it all the way through the clip, I gotta be honest with you. My resting heart rate is probably 64. I watched the clip, it was 64. Literally don’t care. I have other thoughts, but don’t care.”

On Thursday, while TNT host Ernie Johnson Jr. voiced the highlights of the Boston Celtics’ 118-115 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, Barkley took a chance to respond to Redick’s recent criticism of how national media covers the NBA.

“He said something about, ‘We’re the reasons people ain’t watching this crappy product we got.’ I said, ‘Us?’ Like we out there jacking up a hundred 3s a night,” Barkley said. “JJ (Redick), you come for the king you better not miss, because I can get you, brother. Remember, I got your Lakers’ games. You can’t hide them flaws they got. You just a dead man walking. They got rid of (former coach) Frank Vogel, who did a good job. “The Lakers stink. He came in there thinking, ‘I can make this thing work.’ Hell you can. Put some makeup on that pig. … The Lakers stink, man. C’mon, man.”

Two weeks prior, Redick was asked about the discourse surrounding the NBA’s declining TV ratings and pointed to the league and game not being celebrated enough.

“I don’t think we … have done a good job of storytelling, of celebrating the game,” Redick said on Dec. 19 in Sacramento. “If I’m a casual fan and you tell me every time I turn on the television that the product sucks, well, I’m not going to watch the product. And that’s really what has happened over the last 10 to 15 years. I don’t know why. It’s not funny to me.”

While Redick didn’t specify which voices he was referring to, the celebrated former players on TNT’s “Inside the NBA” — Kenny Smith, Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal — are often cited as the most prominent critics among the league’s partners.

“This game should be celebrated,” Redick said in Sacramento. “The league is more talented and skilled than it was 18 years ago when I was drafted. That’s a fact. There are more players that are excellent. There are more teams that are excellent. … We don’t have anybody that’s willing to step up to the fact that this is an awesome game and we should talk about it and celebrate it in a positive way. That doesn’t mean we don’t critique it. We should critique it, but we should celebrate it. Nobody’s doing that, and the people that are have a small niche following on Twitter.”

Before being hired by the Lakers in late June of 2024, Redick was an ESPN analyst and a podcast host after the 15-year NBA veteran retired in 2021.

Recently, Charles Barkley had some harsh words for Lakers coach JJ Redick, calling into question his coaching abilities and decision-making skills. However, Redick has responded in a nonchalant manner, stating, “Literally don’t care.”

In a recent press conference, Redick was asked about Barkley’s criticism and whether it affected him. Redick replied, “I appreciate Charles’ opinion, but at the end of the day, I’m focused on my team and what we need to do to win games. I literally don’t care about what he has to say.”

This bold and confident response from Redick shows that he is unfazed by the opinions of others and is solely focused on leading his team to victory. It sends a clear message that he is not letting outside noise distract him from his goals and priorities.

Despite the criticism, Redick remains determined and unwavering in his approach, showing that he is a strong and resilient leader for the Lakers. It will be interesting to see how this mentality translates to the team’s performance on the court in the upcoming games.

Lakers coach JJ Redick responds to Charles Barkley’s rant against him: ‘Literally don’t care’

The NBA’s newest feud between TNT commentator Charles Barkley and Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick appears to be a bit one-sided.

A day after Barkley unloaded on Redick for criticizing the negativity of NBA broadcasts, Redick responded by saying he didn’t bother watching the entire clip and does not care about what the NBA Hall of Famer has to say about him.

    Redick’s full answer:

“I got a random text from somebody after the game. I went to look at my phone and it says something about Charles Barkley. I’m like, ‘Huh?’ But [Lakers assistant coaches Greg St. Jean and Beau Levesque] showed me. I didn’t make it all the way through the clip, I gotta be honest with you. My resting heart rate is 64. I watched the clip, it was 64. Literally don’t care. I have other thoughts, but don’t care.”

Barkley received plenty of attention for a rant sparked by Redick last month saying, “If I’m a casual fan and you tell me every time I turn on the television that the product sucks, well, I’m not going to watch the product.”

In return, Barkley went in on Redick’s coaching philosophy, decision-making and job security, as well as the status of the Lakers organization:

“[Redick] said something about we’re the reason people ain’t watching this crappy product we got … yeah, us, like we’re out there jacking up 100 threes a night. JJ, you come for the king, you better not miss. Because I can get you, brother. Remember, I got your Lakers games. You can’t hide them flaws they got. You’re just a dead man walking. They got rid of Frank Vogel who did a good job, they got rid of Darvin Ham who did a good job. But you came out there thinking you were gonna change things with that same ugly girl you went on a date with.”

”[Redick] came in there thinking, ‘I can make this thing work.’ The hell you can! You can put some makeup on that pig! … The Lakers stink, man. Come on, man.”

Barkley is no stranger to media feuds and strong language, while Redick is in his first season as Lakers head coach after three years in the media with ESPN. After a 119-102 win over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday, Los Angeles has won seven of its last nine after a disappointing stretch earlier this season. The team currently sits at 19-14, tied for fourth in the Western Conference.

Redick is something of a lightning rod for the Lakers’ longer-term concerns, both as a first-time professional coach (his only coaching experience consists of his son’s elementary school team) and his closeness with LeBron James (the two had a podcast together before Redick’s hire by the Lakers). As long as the Lakers are losing at least some of their games, he’s going to be an easy target for Barkley and many others.

In a recent interview, Lakers coach JJ Redick responded to Charles Barkley’s rant against him with a simple message: “Literally don’t care.”

Barkley had criticized Redick’s coaching style, calling him out for being too conservative and not taking enough risks on the court. However, Redick brushed off the comments, stating that he is focused on leading his team to success and is not concerned with what Barkley has to say.

“I have a job to do and that is to coach this team to the best of my ability. I don’t pay attention to the noise or the critics,” Redick said. “I have confidence in my coaching style and I am going to stick to it, regardless of what anyone else thinks.”

The Lakers have been performing well under Redick’s leadership, with a strong record and high morale among the team. Redick remains unfazed by Barkley’s criticism and is determined to continue guiding his team to victory.

Fans of the Lakers have shown their support for Redick, praising his resilience and dedication to the team. Despite Barkley’s comments, Redick remains focused on his goal of leading the Lakers to a championship title.

In response to Barkley’s rant, Redick simply stated, “I literally don’t care.” And with that, he is back to focusing on what truly matters – the game.

  • Giants players lament loss of leadership with Saquon Barkley’s departure

Giants players lament loss of leadership with Saquon Barkley’s departure

Eagles running back Saquon Barkley won’t be in the lineup against his former team on Sunday, but he remained on the Giants’ minds as they move toward the end of the season.

It has been easy to see how Barkley’s on-field production has been lacking from the Giants offense this season and his former teammates said that he might have been missed even more off the field. Quarterback Tommy DeVito said that he thinks the team understood what they’d be losing from a leadership standpoint, but “maybe just didn’t cherish it enough” when it came time to make a decision about re-signing him.

Safety Dane Belton noted Barkley’s influence on both sides of the ball and said the team is “super young” so “it can’t help to lose a great leader like that. Tight end Daniel Bellinger agreed with the other players about the void Barkley left behind.

“For me the biggest part of losing Saquon was the locker room aspect,” Bellinger said, via Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com. “Just having him as a leader and a guy that when there were times like, what do we do, he would be like ‘Go play!’ He brought an energy that sometimes we needed out there.”

The Giants’ decision to part with Barkley played out on their offseason appearance on Hard Knocks and Barkley’s massive season for a divisional rival has only added to the negative feelings about their 3-13 record. Nothing that happens in Week 18 will change that, but it could impact who is calling the shots for the Giants in the future.

The New York Giants have been hit hard with the news of star running back Saquon Barkley’s departure due to injury. The team’s players are feeling the loss of his presence both on and off the field, especially his leadership.

Barkley was not only a standout player on the field, but also a vocal leader in the locker room. His work ethic, positive attitude, and ability to motivate his teammates were all qualities that the Giants players greatly admired and will miss.

Veteran players on the team have expressed their sadness at Barkley’s departure, noting that his leadership was invaluable in keeping the team focused and motivated. Without him, they feel a void that will be hard to fill.

The Giants will have to find a way to rally together and move forward without Barkley, but his absence will surely be felt by everyone in the organization. The team will have to come together and find new leaders to step up in his absence, but for now, they are mourning the loss of a key piece of their team.

  • New York Giants players feel Saquon Barkley’s impact on locker room was underestimated, per report

New York Giants players feel Saquon Barkley’s impact on locker room was underestimated, per report

This Sunday in Philadelphia, the New York Giants will be forced to confront a major factor in what led to their undoing this season: They have already been humiliated by former running back and now Eagles superstar Saquon Barkley, who ran roughshod over them earlier in the season en route to becoming the ninth running back in NFL history to ever rush for over 2,000 yards in a season. They will be spared the humiliation of Barkley gaining another 101 yards to break Eric Dickerson’s all-time single-season rushing record, but only because the playoff-bound Eagles are set to rest their starters while the Giants close out what has turned into a catastrophe of a centennial season.

It is no accident that the Giants have gone 3-13 and are enduring one of the worst seasons in their 100-year history, and the loss of Barkley is a major reason why beyond his All-Pro caliber play: According to a report by Jordan Raanan of ESPN, a “good chunk” of players on the Giants believe that Saquon Barkley’s presence and impact on the locker room was undervalued by the front office, as general manager Joe Schoen elected to never make Barkley an official contract offer after the 2023 season based on his roster building philosophy and the positional value of running backs.

That decision has made Schoen and the Giants look foolish, and it has placed both him and coach Brian Daboll on the hot seat as the calendar approaches “Black Monday.” the term that has become synonymous with management firings in the NFL.

“For me the biggest part of losing Saquon was the locker room aspect,” tight end Daniel Bellinger said in ESPN’s story. “Just having him as a leader and a guy that when there were times like, what do we do, he would be like ‘Go play!’ He brought an energy that sometimes we needed out there.”

A specific example of Barkley’s leadership offered to ESPN concerned the 2023 season, when Barkley was credited with helping keep the locker room together and rallying around undrafted rookie quarterback Tommy DeVito, who took over midseason after injuries to both Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor led to the Giants getting off to a 2-8 start. The Giants salvaged a 6-11 season, thanks largely to a three-game win streak with DeVito at quarterback.

What made Barkley’s absence worse was that the Giants also cut ties with other accomplished veterans, captains, and team leaders: The Giants also failed to re-sign safety Xavier McKinney, and lost other leaders to free agency and trades including wide receiver Sterling Shepard, defensive tackle Leonard Williams, and safety Julian Love. Andrew Thomas and Dexter Lawrence, both leaders and team captains on the 2024 team, were both lost due to injuries.

The Giants’ leadership issues came to light midway through the season following the departure of Jones, who requested to be released after being benched following the team’s bye week. One anonymous player ripped team brass’ treatment of Jones, saying the decision had been made for financial reasons (due to injury guarantees in his contract) and that the scapegoating of Jones for the team’s record was “weak as f—,” and multiple players called out the team as being “soft” and giving a lack of effort in a 30-7 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers days later.

What arguably hurts the worst for the Giants is that the loss of Barkley has made the Eagles, who have mostly dominated the Giants over the last decade, even more difficult to beat. This weekend, the Giants will try to beat the Eagles on the road at Lincoln Financial Field, something they have not done since 2013.

The New York Giants players are feeling the impact of Saquon Barkley in the locker room more than ever before, according to a recent report. Many players on the team believe that Barkley’s leadership and positive attitude have been underestimated by outsiders.

Barkley, who has been sidelined with a knee injury for most of the season, has continued to be a vocal presence in the locker room, offering support and encouragement to his teammates. His work ethic and determination have inspired those around him, and his positive attitude has helped to keep morale high during a challenging season.

While Barkley may not be on the field, his presence in the locker room has not gone unnoticed. Players have praised him for his leadership and the impact he has had on the team, both on and off the field. As the Giants continue to push through the remainder of the season, they are grateful to have Barkley’s support and guidance.

Overall, it is clear that Saquon Barkley’s influence on the New York Giants goes far beyond his performance on the field. His positive attitude and leadership have been invaluable to the team, and his impact on the locker room should not be underestimated.

    Video Transcript

    Daquan Barkley is incredible.

He surpassed 2000 yards for the season, joining an elite group in the NFL ever to do that.

I think Saquan’s been different all season.

You could argue MVP worthy, offensive player worthy.

    He’s literally been incredible.

It’s been, it’s a pleasure to watch, it’s incredible to see the things he’s doing, the big runs, and it’s consistent.

And the thing I love about him the most is this dude could easily have 25 touchdowns, easily.

I think there’s like 11 or 12, maybe 13 more times he got stopped on the 1.

And uh Jala Hurts got the touchdown with the whatever they wanna call it in Philly.

And even, yeah, well looking at his numbers and the things he’s doing, he could easily be over 2000 yards with like 30 touchdowns.

    The Giant situation.

What do you think that owner’s thinking and just the whole thing?

He’s got to be so pissed off.

I, I know he’s extremely pissed, but the thing is sometimes you just gotta let people go because they can’t flourish in certain spots.

He’s playing like I love where I’m at.

    I’m enjoying the game again.

I’m just out here like a kid in a candy store.

    He’s he’s just doing whatever.

That’s why you can make a guy miss a spin and jump back because you’re just playing free.

Man, he told that Rocky he’s gonna break this record.

    Here’s what I don’t want to happen.

Old heads do not hate on this man.

Don’t, I don’t wanna hear no oh he got an extra game.

    Oh he did.

    Oh he that, man.

I ain’t trying to hear none of that, man.

    Hey, I ain’t tell you.

    That’s all that matters.

    That’s cars have changed.

It’s a different day and age, man.

Like this because then the old heads before were probably like, well, we played 4. games you guys had 16.

Yeah, that’s what I’m saying like just let the let the man live in the moment.

It’s incredible to see records are meant to be broken.

He’s gonna break the 100 yards, man.

Listen, they gonna get that dude 75 carries.

    He breaking that record.

So, you know, and it’s incredible to see I’m hyped for him and uh good for them, man.

I hope he do break the record.

Saquon Barkley’s biggest supporter shared a touching message Sunday after the star Eagles running back’s milestone game.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, Anna Congdon penned a heartfelt post to her longtime partner, who became the ninth running back in NFL history to eclipse 2,000 rushing yards in a season during Philadelphia’s 41-7 home win over the Cowboys.

“You outshine the morning sun,” Congdon wrote of Barkley, 27.

In a follow-up post, Congdon — who has been dating Barkley since their college days at Penn State and share two children together — uploaded an NFL graphic featuring an animation of the two-time Pro Bowler leaping over 2K letters.

Barkley surpassed the 2,000-yard mark in the fourth quarter Sunday on a 23-yard run.

He finished the Week 17 contest with 31 carries for 167 yards and is now 100 yards shy of Eric Dickerson’s record of 2,105.

With one game left, the Eagles — who clinched the NFC East on Sunday — will have to decide if they’ll play their starters in the regular-season finale against the Giants or rest them ahead of the playoffs.

Barkley, currently in his first season in Philadelphia, is game for whatever coach Nick Sirianni decides.

“Whatever his decision is, I’m all for it,” Barkley said. “If his mindset is, go out and try it, we’ll go out and try it. If his mindset is, let’s rest and get ready for this run, I’ll all for it, too.”

Barkley spent the first six seasons of his career with the Giants, who drafted him second overall in 2018.

The MVP candidate joined Big Blue’s loathed rival in free agency this past March, agreeing to a three-year, $37.75 million deal.

Barkley has tallied 13 rushing touchdowns through 16 games this year, along with two receiving scores.

  • Tracking Saquon Barkley’s pace for NFL rushing yards record

Tracking Saquon Barkley’s pace for NFL rushing yards record

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley totaled 150 rushing yards in the team’s Week 16 loss to the Commanders, putting him at 1,838 yards through 15 games. That means he is just below pace — but within range — to break the single-season rushing record of 2,105 yards set by Eric Dickerson in 1984.

Dickerson’s record has stood for four decades, and only eight players have even reached 2,000 yards in rushing. Could Barkley surpass the 2,105-yard mark? After averaging 122.5 rushing yards per game over the first 15 contests, he needs to average 134 the rest of the way to do it. And remember, Barkley has the benefit of an extra game; Dickerson set his record in a 16-game season.

The Eagles have relied heavily on his rushing ability this season after signing him in free agency. Offensive linemen Lane Johnson, Landon Dickerson and Jordan Mailata helped spark a more run-oriented offense with a visit to coach Nick Sirianni’s office during the Week 5 bye. Philadelphia leads the NFL with 554 rush attempts, which has helped Barkley put up huge numbers.

Will the rushing record finally fall? With Barkley currently on pace for 2,083 yards, we’re tracking his momentous season as he runs and hurdles his way toward Dickerson’s long-standing mark. Eagles reporter Tim McManus is sizing up where things stand and NFL analyst Ben Solak looks at what lies ahead over the final two games.

Barkley’s performance: Barkley finished with 150 yards on 29 carries. He rushed for 109 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter alone, highlighted by a 68-yard TD scamper down the left sideline with 2:18 remaining in the opening frame. Barkley is the first player with 100-plus rushing yards and two-plus rushing TDs in an opening quarter since the Vikings’ Adrian Peterson in 2012 Week 14 against the Bears. Peterson was named the NFL MVP that season.

It was Barkley’s 10th game this season with at least 100 rushing yards. That’s tied for the most by any player in his first season with a team, matching Jerome Bettis in 1996, Edgerrin James in 1999 and Ricky Williams in 2002. — McManus

The Dickerson comparison: Dickerson rushed 27 times for 215 yards (season high) in his 15th game of the 1984 season, putting him at 2,007. Barkley is at 1,838 after 15 games, 169 yards behind Dickerson. He is slightly off pace to break the record, even with the 17th game factored in.

Barkley’s performance: Barkley finished with 65 yards on 19 carries. He played sparingly in the first half after a trip to the medical tent — Barkley was seen on the sideline stretching out his right leg — and went into halftime with 31 yards. He had a fuller workload in the second half but didn’t post the kind of gaudy numbers that he has put up for much of the season. — McManus

The Dickerson comparison: Dickerson rushed 33 times for 149 yards in his 14th game of the 1984 season, putting him at 1,792 on the season. Barkley was at 1,688 after 14 games, 104 yards behind Dickerson. And he fell off pace to break the record, even with the 17th game factored in.

Barkley’s performance: Barkley set a new franchise record for single-season rushing yards. He entered needing 109 yards to move past LeSean McCoy, who rushed for 1,607 yards in 2013, and Barkley moved into first place midway through the fourth quarter with a 9-yard gain. Chants of “MVP!” broke out as his achievement was announced in the stadium. Barkley finished with 124 rushing yards on 20 carries. — McManus

The Dickerson comparison: Dickerson rushed 28 times for 191 yards in his 13th game of the 1984 season, putting him at 1,643 on the season. Barkley was at 1,623 after 13 games, 20 yards behind Dickerson. But once factoring in the extra game from the 17-game season, Barkley was still on pace to break Dickerson’s record.

Barkley’s performance: Barkley rushed 23 times for 107 yards, and he continues to play the role of closer. He had 44 rush yards through the first three quarters, then erupted for 63 yards — including a 25-yard touchdown scamper — in the fourth to help ice the game. He has the second-most rushing yards in the fourth quarter through 12 games in the play-by-play era (since 1978), trailing only Edgerrin James in 2000. — McManus

The Dickerson comparison: Dickerson rushed 25 times for 132 yards in his 12th game of the 1984 season, putting him at 1,452 on the season. Barkley was at 1,499 after 12 games, 47 yards ahead of Dickerson. That means Barkley was still on pace to break Dickerson’s record, factoring in the extra game from the 17-game season.

Barkley’s performance: Barkley set both personal and franchise highs with 255 rushing yards and 302 yards from scrimmage. Both of his rushing touchdowns went for 70-plus yards. “You’re already the best running back in the world,” receiver A.J. Brown told him on the sideline. “I think you’re the best player in the world.” — McManus

The Dickerson comparison: Dickerson rushed 28 times for 149 yards in his 11th game of the 1984 season, putting him at 1,320 on the season. Barkley was at 1,392 after 11 games, 72 yards ahead of Dickerson. And for the first time all season, Barkley was on pace to break Dickerson’s record, factoring in the extra game from the 17-game season.

Barkley’s performance: Barkley went for 198 all-purpose yards and a pair of touchdowns in a battle for first place in the division. His 26-carry, 146-yard effort on the ground was the sixth time he hit the 100-yard rushing mark this season. — McManus

The Dickerson comparison: Dickerson rushed 21 times for 208 yards in his 10th game of the 1984 season, putting him at 1,171 on the season. Barkley was at 1,137 after 10 games, 34 yards behind Dickerson.

Barkley’s performance: Barkley posted 66 yards on 14 carries. Though not his most active game, he provided one of the top highlights of the year in the first quarter when he turned on the jets following a short reception along the left side, blowing past a pair of Cowboys defenders who collided with one another. — McManus

The Dickerson comparison: Dickerson rushed 13 times for 38 yards in his ninth game of the 1984 season, putting him at 963 on the season. Barkley was at 991 after nine games, 28 yards ahead of Dickerson.

Barkley’s performance: The reverse hurdle game! Barkley left his teammates astonished in the second quarter when he leaped backwards over cornerback Jarrian Jones for one of the most impressive 14-yard gains in league history. “It was the best play I’ve ever seen,” said Sirianni. Barkley had 159 yards and a TD on 27 carries, and he added 40 yards and a score through the air. He had six runs of 10 or more yards. — McManus

The Dickerson comparison: Dickerson rushed 24 times for 145 yards in his eighth game of the 1984 season, putting him at 925 on the season. Barkley was also at 925 after eight games — tied with Dickerson.

Barkley’s performance: Barkley’s best work came in the closing frame, as he rushed for 57 yards on seven carries in the game-sealing 12-play drive, highlighted by a 17-yard run in which he tip-toed down the sideline and leapt over a photographer near the goal line. He finished with 22 carries for 108 yards. — McManus

The Dickerson comparison: Dickerson rushed 20 times for 175 yards in his seventh game of the 1984 season, putting him at 780 on the season. Barkley was at 766 after seven games, 14 yards behind Dickerson.

Barkley’s performance: Barkley went off for 176 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries in his return to MetLife Stadium. He was in position to break his single-game rushing record (189 yards at the time) but turned down the opportunity so the rest of the running backs could get work late in a lopsided game, telling Sirianni he’d rather “let the young guys eat.” — McManus

The Dickerson comparison: Dickerson rushed 19 times for 107 yards in his sixth game of the 1984 season, putting him at 605 on the season. Barkley was at 658 after six games, 53 yards ahead of Dickerson.

Barkley’s performance: This was one of Barkley’s worst statistical performances of the season (18 carries, 47 yards). He averaged just 2.6 yards per carry, but the offense’s new-found dedication to the rushing attack held firm throughout the contest. — McManus

The Dickerson comparison: Dickerson rushed 22 times for 120 yards in his fifth game of the 1984 season, putting him at 498 on the season. Barkley was at 482 after five games, 16 yards behind Dickerson.

Barkley’s performance: This was a turning point in the season. Barkley hardly touched the ball early as the Bucs climbed out to a 24-0 lead and finished with just 10 carries, which he still turned into 84 yards. Thanks to a nudge from the offensive line, Sirianni committed to the ground game from this point forward, sparking a long winning streak. — McManus

The Dickerson comparison: Dickerson rushed 22 times for 89 yards in his fourth game of the 1984 season, putting him at 378 on the season. Barkley was at 435 after four games, 57 yards ahead of Dickerson.

Barkley’s performance: Barkley ended with 147 yards and two touchdowns on the ground despite getting just 17 carries (8.6 average). His 65-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter finally put Philadelphia on the board and served as the catalyst for its narrow win. — McManus

The Dickerson comparison: Dickerson rushed 23 times for 49 yards in his third game of the 1984 season, putting him at 289 on the season. Barkley was at 351 after three games, 62 yards ahead of Dickerson.

Barkley’s performance: Barkley carried the ball 22 times for 95 yards. His drop near the goal line on third down late in the game forced the Eagles to settle for a field goal, helping Atlanta to sneak out the win. — McManus

The Dickerson comparison: Dickerson rushed 27 times for 102 yards in his second game of the 1984 season, putting him at 240 on the season. Barkley was at 204 after two games, 36 yards behind Dickerson.

Barkley’s performance: Barkley made the kind of instant impact the organization was hoping for when signing him to a three-year, $38 million free agent contract, rushing for 109 yards and a pair of touchdowns and adding another score through the air. He has since called those TDs in Sao Paulo, Brazil, some of the favorite of his career. “I’m the first person to ever score in South America,” Barkley said. “That’s cool.” — McManus

The Dickerson comparison: Dickerson rushed 21 times for 138 yards in Week 1 of the 1984 season, meaning Barkley trailed Dickerson by 29 yards (before factoring in Barkley’s extra game in the current 17-game season).

    Remaining games

How the matchup projects for Barkley: One of Barkley’s worst games of the season came against the Cowboys in Week 10, as he rushed for just 66 yards against one of the league’s worst run defenses. The Eagles just didn’t need him at all; they were getting short fields from the defense and were effortlessly successful through the air. In a game with some longer fields and not as big of a second-half deficit, Barkley should shine. Also of note: Quarterback Jalen Hurts left the Week 16 game with a concussion, and if he sits in Week 17, Philadelphia would likely feed Barkley on the ground and help his cause. And as this is the Week 17 game, it might be Barkley’s last appearance of the regular season, depending on the Eagles’ incentives to play in Week 18. — Solak

The Dickerson comparison: Dickerson rushed 26 times for 98 yards in his 16th and final game of the 1984 regular season, putting him at 2,105. To break the record, Barkley needs to average 134 yards over the final two games, and he’d get back on pace if he has at least 145 in Week 17.

How the matchup projects for Barkley: If Barkley does play in Week 18, he’ll get a team potentially still quasi-tanking for the first overall pick and potentially absent star nose tackle Dexter Lawrence II (elbow). But Barkley will need to have a big first half; even if the Eagles have something to play for, they’d likely have a quick hook on Barkley, who is integral to their postseason plans. On the season, with Lawrence on the field, the Giants give up more explosive runs than any other defense in the NFL. With Lawrence off the field, the possibilities are endless. — Solak

As the NFL season kicks off, all eyes are on New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley as he looks to make a run at breaking the all-time rushing yards record. With his explosive speed, agility, and power, Barkley has the potential to surpass the current record held by Emmitt Smith.

Throughout the season, we will be closely tracking Barkley’s pace and performance to see if he has what it takes to make history. Will he be able to maintain his incredible production and stay healthy enough to make a serious run at the record? Only time will tell.

Stay tuned for updates on Saquon Barkley’s progress and join us in rooting for him as he chases football immortality. #SaquonForTheRecord #NFLRushingYardsRecord
