  • This ‘The Batman Part 2’ Plot Theory Has Me Giddy with Anticipation

While DC Studios is gearing up to start its cinematic universe with its beacon of hope, Superman, the natural order of things begs for balance. This is where Batman comes in who is the embodiment of vengeance. As we all know, The Batman Part 2 is set to release in 2027, and after the cinematic masterpiece ‘The Batman’, it’s almost impossible to put forth how frustratingly painful it must be for fans to wait for such a long time. So, we fans are coming up with multiple theories regarding the plot of The Batman Part 2 and I have come across several of them that make a certain level of sense and I can’t wait to share them with you folks. So without any further dilly-dallying, let’s dive right into it, shall we?

The Penguin’s Upcoming Season Will Set up The Batman Part 2

If I talk about my theory, we all know that The Batman Part 2 has been delayed for a 2027 release and I might have an idea behind this delay’s reason. Matt Reeves recently confirmed that The Penguin Season 2 is in the works and he and his team are working on ideas to approach this new season. I feel that since Penguin has replaced the Falcones and is now the crime boss of Gotham City, The Penguin Season 2 will be used to create a story that will make it easier for The Batman Part 2 to do its own thing.

The Penguin Season 1 was there to show us Ozwald’s rise to power. However, he is still to become the villain DC fans are familiar with, and to pitch him against the Bat of Gotham, The Penguin Season 2 will bring him to all his glory gradually making him a big enough threat to ping on Batman’s radar. I feel that the sequel was delayed with the intent of releasing The Penguin Season 2 followed by The Batman 2 for all the above-mentioned reasons.

The Batman Part 2 Might Bring the Court of Owls as the Main Villain

While doom-scrolling on Reddit, I came across multiple theories regarding The Batman Part 2’s plot. While most of these theories were rather ambiguous, one of them particularly struck out and made a lot of sense. According to this theory brought forth by MrDrPepper1998, In The Batman, we saw that the DA of Gotham, Gill Coulson was killed by The Riddler and following the floods, Bella Reál announced the formation of an Anti Crime/Corruption task force. To carry out this task, she will need a bold and fearless DA and this is the perfect opportunity to introduce Harvey Dent as the new DA of Gotham who will lead this task force.

Since The Batman universe does not follow an exact comic storyline, there is a possibility that with the introduction of this task force, the corrupt politicians and businessmen of Gotham will start operating from the shadows, giving birth to The Court of Owls. Batman gets a hint of such an organization and to infiltrate their ranks, we will get to see more of Bruce Wayne this time around, amending the complaints fans had of him having too little screen time in the first movie.

Meanwhile, now since The Penguin has become the crime boss of Gotham, he might start getting politically involved leading him to be approached by the Court of Owls in the final episodes of The Penguin Season 2, and in The Batman Part 2, he will become the link that will tip off Batman about the existence of such an organization to save his skin from the Caped Crusader.

The Batman Part 2 could also set up Part 3 with Selina Kyle breaking out her half-sister Sofia Falcone from Arkham. This could lead to a mass prison break freeing the Riddler and Barry Keoghan’s Joker from captivity, setting up The Batman Part 3 inspired by the comic run of War of Jokes and Riddles. In the comic, Joker and Riddler go to war against each other and the entire Gotham City becomes a victim of the crossfire between them. This is where Batman and Jim Gordon team up to stop both the villains from taking down the entire city with them.

So, what do you guys think about this Batman 2 plot theory? To me, it would be an insane plot for the upcoming flick and if you have any theories of your own for The Batman Part 2’s plot, use this post as a discussion ground and while we wait for any official details, let us in on your theories as well while staying tuned with us for further updates!

I am beyond excited for the upcoming release of “The Batman Part 2,” and I have a theory about the plot that has me absolutely giddy with anticipation.

In the first installment of the film, we saw Robert Pattinson’s Batman facing off against the Riddler and uncovering a conspiracy that went deep into Gotham’s corrupt underbelly. However, I believe that in the sequel, we will see Batman taking on a new villain who is even more formidable and dangerous.

My theory is that the Joker will make his long-awaited appearance in “The Batman Part 2.” The Joker is one of Batman’s most iconic and enduring villains, and I believe that his inclusion in the sequel will add a whole new level of intensity and excitement to the story.

I can already imagine the thrilling cat-and-mouse game that will play out between Batman and the Joker, with each trying to outsmart and outmaneuver the other. The dynamic between these two iconic characters is always electric, and I cannot wait to see how it unfolds on the big screen.

Overall, my theory about the inclusion of the Joker in “The Batman Part 2” has me on the edge of my seat with anticipation. I am counting down the days until the film’s release so that I can see if my theory proves to be true. Until then, I will be eagerly awaiting any new updates or trailers that give me a glimpse of what is in store for Batman in the sequel.

  • Is There a Silver Lining to THE BATMAN: PART II Being Moved to 2027?

    December 27, 2024 — a date which will live in…infamy?

    Well, maybe for Batman fans.

That was the day it was announced that Matt Reeves’ THE BATMAN: PART II was being pushed back a full year (again) and would now be released on October 1, 2027.  And I, like a lot of folks, was utterly disappointed… angry, even.  Of course, my mind thought of the worst: THE BATMAN: PART 2 will never happen because James Gunn is screwing over Matt Reeves so he can have his DCU Batman, dammit!

After ranting and carrying on, I did what I should’ve done first: Ask some folks who know more than me.

So I did…and discovered that my overreaction was exactly that: An overreaction.  There are legit reasons why the film’s release date was moved to 2027.  For one thing, the WGA/SAG strikes adversely affected the script’s progress.  Secondly, it’s said that Matt Reeves is a meticulous perfectionist and will not turn a script in as “ready” until he’s 100% satisfied with it.  Finally, there appears to have been something personal/on the homefront that kept Reeves from totally focusing on THE BATMAN: PART II for much of last year (2024).  If that is the case (and Reeves has said twice publicly that he had “a lot going on this past year”), then the delay is completely understandable.

Frankly, all the reasons previously listed are understandable.  Is it a bummer that we have a longer wait (again) for the film? Absolutely.  Is it the end of the world as we know it?  Absolutely not.  In fact, it may be a positive, so let me enlighten y’all with the silver lining…

We’ve had a LOT of Batman on film over the last 13 years.  Starting with THE DARK KNIGHT RISES in 2012 (which ended Christopher Nolan’s THE DARK KNIGHT TRILOGY), we’ve had appearances of Batman in 6 films (RISES, BATMAN v SUPERMAN, SUICIDE SQUAD, JUSTICE LEAGUE, THE BATMAN, THE FLASH) played by 5 different actors (Christian Bale, Ben Affleck, Robert Pattinson, Michael Keaton, George Clooney).

As I said, that’s a lot of Batman on film in a relatively short time. So, wouldn’t it be wise to have a bit of Batman on film break?  You know, get the audience to miss him again?

The answer to that is yes.

As I said, I know it’s disappointing that we must wait 5 years between THE BATMAN and its sequel, which will be the longest time between Batman films in the same series; it bests the time between THE DARK KNIGHT and THE DARK KNIGHT RISES by a year-plus. On the other hand, when it comes to the solo Batman film franchise beginning in 1989, it’s a shorter time than between BATMAN & ROBIN to BATMAN BEGINS (8 years) and THE DARK KNIGHT RISES to THE BATMAN (10 years).

We must remember that we were recently treated to over 8 hours of SAGA content with THE PENGUIN on HBO — a quasi-sequel to THE BATMAN.  Furthermore, we’ll likely get a second season of THE PENGUIN and perhaps another HBO series that’s part of the SAGA before THE BATMAN: PART II.  Thus, by the time PART II gets here, we will have gotten the most in-continuity content of any incarnation of Batman on film (including TV/HBO, of course).  Hell, the SAGA has already done that with the original film and the first HBO/TV spinoff!

The bottom line is that this isn’t about the fans.  The mindset for a lot of us is the more Batman the better.  But frankly, THE BATMAN: PART II isn’t being made for fans; it’s for the general audience and they will determine if the film is a box office success. With so much cinematic Batman and Batmen (Batmans?) over the last several years, it’ll do them some good to miss the old boy.

And it’ll be good for fans too…even if they don’t realize it. – Bill “Jett” Ramey

As disappointing as it may be for fans to hear that “The Batman: Part II” has been pushed back to 2027, there may actually be a silver lining to this delay.

One possible benefit of the extended wait is that it allows more time for the filmmakers to perfect the script, visual effects, and overall production of the film. With the extra time, the creative team behind the movie can ensure that it lives up to the high expectations set by the first installment.

Additionally, the delay may also give fans more time to rewatch the first movie, dive deeper into the lore of Batman, and speculate about what could happen in the sequel. This extended anticipation could ultimately make the release of “The Batman: Part II” even more exciting when it finally hits theaters.

While waiting for the movie may be tough, it’s important to remember that good things come to those who wait. So, let’s remain patient and hopeful that “The Batman: Part II” will be worth the delay in the end.

  • 7 Weird Things About the Batman and Robin Relationship

Batman and Robin have a very weird and probably illegal relationship. Let’s discuss it.

But first: There’s a big joke, going back decades, that Batman and Robin are gay. This wonderful article is not about that. This is about things in the Batman and Robin relationship that everyone takes for granted, but are actually exceptionally strange, when you stop and think about them.

Also, we aren’t here to scold fictional characters. If anything, the messiness of the Batman and Robin relationship makes it more fascinating, from a storytelling standpoint, because it muddles with the boring portrayal of Batman as perfect.

In fact, as we shall show, the man who dresses up as a bat every night is a total weirdo. Starting with…

    No. 1 Robin’s Costume

    Detective Comics #38. DC Comics

Batman, famously, dresses in dark colors as camouflage, allowing him to blend into the night, invisible to criminals. He’s able to dodge their gunfire in part because he’s so hard to see.

Robin, meanwhile, wears the brightest costume possible. While fighting alongside Batman. The Caped Crusader hides in the shadows, while his youthful ward… wears a garish red, yellow and green costume that attracts attention. And bullets, we assume.

We saw a Batman satire once where Robin was called “Target,” and that satire was right on the money. We would link to it if we could find it, but unfortunately when we Google “Robin costume target” we just get pages of Robin costumes… from Target.

No. 2 Robin Is a Minor

A publicity still of Burt Ward in the 1966 Batman movie. 20th Century Fox

There have been many Robins over the years, and while their origin stories have changed over the decades, all are presented as minors at the time they meet Batman. Remember he’s called “The Boy Wonder.”

Dick Grayson, the first Robin, first appeared in Detective Comics #38 (eleven issues after Batman debuted in Detective Comics #27) and was a junior member of the acrobatics troupe The Flying Graysons, led by his parents, John and Mary. When criminals kill them, Batman takes on Dick Grayson as his ward, training him to fight crime.

Yes, Dick Grayson was an acrobat, which is dangerous. But taking a minor out on the streets at night to fight criminals with guns — in a brightly colored costume, no less — is child endangerment.

While we don’t know what state Gotham is in, we do know it resembles New York City, and that under New York Penal Law 260.10(1), “a person is guilty of endangering the welfare of a child when… he or she knowingly acts in a manner likely to be injurious to the physical, mental or moral welfare of a child less than seventeen years old or directs or authorizes such child to engage in an occupation involving a substantial risk of danger to his or her life or health.”

It’s a Class A misdemeanor, which can result in up to a year in jail.

No. 3. Batman Calls Robin ‘Chum’

Jaws. Universal. – Credit: Universal Pictures

To add to the endangerment thing… Batman often calls Robin “chum.”

There are two meanings of the word chum. It can mean friend — or it can refer to the stuff you throw to sharks, as bait.

We wonder how Batman is using it.

    The Mask

Chris O’Donnell and Alicia Silverstone in Batman and Robin. Warner Bros.

Again, inequality. Batman wears a cowl that covers his entire face, except for his mouth. Robin wears a masquerade-party style mask that covers only his eyes.

If the point of a mask is hiding your identity, so no enemies can harm you while you’re in civilian mode, or by attacking your friends and family, Robin’s mask is a real problem. Batman is endangering not just Robin, but also himself, Alfred, Batgirl, and… I guess that’s their whole inner circle. But still.

Even the modernized Robin of the ’90s, played by Chris O’Donnell, wore a little mask that concealed almost nothing. Ditto for Batgirl (Alicia Silverstone).

    The Robin Hood Thing

    Warner Bros.

Robin was modeled on Robin Hood. In 1940, when Robin was introduced, Robin Hood was a red-hot pop culture property thanks to the 1938 Errol Flynn hit The Adventures of Robin Hood (see publicity still, above).

But Robin Hood is famous for two things. One is stealing from the rich and giving to the poor, and the other is shooting arrows.

Robin, on the other hand, works for a billionaire, helping him beat up street criminals, and doesn’t even get arrows, which might be helpful, given the criminals’ guns. Especially considering his loud, gaudy, bullet-magnet costume,

    Death

    DC Comics

As we mentioned, there have been several Robins through the years. When Dick Grayson grew up and became Nightwing (finally donning a dark colored costume — smart!), he was replaced by another Boy Wonder, Jason Todd, in 1983.

But five years later, in part because fans didn’t love Jason Todd, DC Comics introduced the groundbreaking Death in the Family storyline in which The Joker bombed a building with Jason inside — and fans got to call a 900 number to decide if Jason lived or died. Fans voted for him to die. (But don’t blame 13-year-old me — I voted for him to live.)

What’s even weirder than fans voting to blow up a teenager is that after Jason’s death, no one from the state came to say, “Hey — what happened?” No one investigated Bruce Wayne for maybe, potentially, putting the poor boy in harm’s way. It was just, “Hey, that kid who looks exactly like Robin never comes around anymore.”

    Ward

    ABC

In the classic Batman TV show Adam West’s Bruce Wayne would often refer to Dick Grayson as his “youthful ward.”

Cornell Law School’s Legal Information Institute defines a “ward” as “a person who is under the protection, care , or guardianship of another individual, typically due to being a minor or legally incapacitated.” It notes that “courts appoint guardians to oversee the well-being and decision-making of wards who are unable to care for themselves.”

This means Bruce Wayne had to go to court and explain that he wanted to take on Dick Grayson as his “ward” — despite being, in the eyes of the court, a total stranger to Grayson.

Wouldn’t it be more typical to make someone your foster child? Or adopt him? Maybe. But here’s where things may get dark, from a legal standpoint.

A ward, unlike an adopted child, does not receive an inheritance — unless the guardian specifies it in the guardian’s will. So it’s possible that Batman is endangering Robin, night after night, with no assurance that he will receive any part of the vast Wayne fortune. Which is absolutely chilling.

Amusingly, the youthful ward of the Batman TV show was played by Burt Ward, so maybe the show was just having fun with that.

Aside: Did The People’s Joker Get It Right?

    Vera Drew The People's Joker

While countless Batman stories have skimmed over the weirder parts of the Batman and Robin relationship, it took a low-budget satire to confront it head-on.

The People’s Joker, in which filmmaker Vera Drew plays a trans joker trying to break into the Gotham comedy scene, features a satirized version of Carrie Kelley, the version of Robin who appears in Frank Miller’s 1986 The Dark Knight Returns.

In The People’s Joker, Carrie gender transitions to become Jason Todd, who then enters into a toxic, predatory relationship with Batman, in spite of their age difference and Jason being 17.

Obviously, a sexual relationship between Batman and Robin isn’t canon, and Drew is making fun of the aforementioned gay jokes about the Batman and Robin relationship. But what the film gets right is that even in the most charitable interpretation, the Batman and Robin relationship involves a mature, wealthy man putting a much younger, orphaned partner in harm’s way. We all them the Dynamic Duo, but one half of the duo holds all the power.

    It’s weird. And weirdly compelling.

    1. Batman and Robin’s age difference: It’s no secret that Batman is significantly older than Robin, with Bruce Wayne being an adult and Dick Grayson being a teenager when they first team up. This age gap has led to some raised eyebrows and questions about the dynamics of their relationship.
    2. Robin’s colorful costume: While Batman prefers to stick to his dark and brooding color scheme, Robin’s costume is bright and colorful, featuring red, green, and yellow. This stark contrast in their outfits has led to some interesting fashion choices for the dynamic duo.
    3. Batman’s strict rules: Batman is known for his strict adherence to his own code of ethics, which often puts him at odds with Robin’s more impulsive and emotional nature. This tension between their personalities has led to some interesting conflicts and power struggles within their partnership.
    4. Robin’s constant need for validation: Despite being a skilled and capable crime fighter in his own right, Robin often seeks validation and approval from Batman, looking up to him as a father figure. This dependency on Batman has raised some eyebrows among fans and critics alike.
    5. Batman’s secretive nature: Batman is notoriously secretive about his personal life and struggles to open up to others, including Robin. This lack of communication has led to some misunderstandings and tension between the two characters, adding a layer of complexity to their relationship.
    6. Robin’s tendency to play sidekick: While Robin is a skilled fighter and crime fighter in his own right, he often finds himself playing second fiddle to Batman, taking on a more supportive role in their partnership. This dynamic has led to some interesting power dynamics and conflicts between the two characters.
    7. Batman and Robin’s unconventional living arrangements: In some interpretations of the Batman and Robin relationship, the two characters live together in Wayne Manor, sharing a living space and working closely together on their crime-fighting endeavors. This unconventional living arrangement has raised some eyebrows among fans and critics, sparking debate about the nature of their relationship.

  • I Can’t Believe 2 DC Movies Beat Batman To Being The Franchise’s First Superhero Films

    Long before the DCU
, DC’s first foray into cinema came in the early 1940s, but it didn’t star one of the flagship heroes like Batman. DC has been an unstoppable force in the world of comics and superheroes since the 1940s. While it stands beside Marvel as one of the “Big Two,” DC held the advantage for many years in regards to their comics and their media adaptations.

In fact, the popularity of characters like Superman and Batman has been so consistent that both heroes have had adaptations created in most decades since they were first introduced, and sometimes even multiple iterations at once. However, while these heroes top the talent pile for DC today, there were other contenders who got into the theaters faster than either of them. And you probably won’t believe heroes beat Batman into the theaters.

DC’s First Batman Movie Is Predated By 2 Other Film Releases

Batman Was Not The First Hero To Grace The Big Screen

Batman arrived in comics at a similar time to Superman, with Batman debuting in Detective Comics in 1939. However, the version of Superman and Batman that started it all had some subtle differences to the modern iterations. And, the pair had strong competition from a company known as Fawcett Comics, which published a series known as Whiz Comics. Detective Comics and Action Comics from DC had their audience, but they weren’t as quick to pivot to new mediums, like films.

10 Reasons Robert Pattinson’s Batman Should Not Join James Gunn’s DC Universe

Many fans might want Robert Pattinson’s Batman to join the DCU, but there are some important reasons against him playing the franchise’s Bruce Wayne.

However, Fawcett Comics took a leap of faith, and with two of their unique creations, Captain Marvel and Spy Smasher, to release movies featuring these heroes in 1941 and 1942 respectively. Batman then followed suit, seeing the potential for success, and released it’s first theatrical seriel in 1943. However, when DC licensed the rights for Fawcett Comics characters in 1972, Captain Marvel and Spy Smasher became part of their brand. After rebranding with Captain Marvel taking on the name Shazam and DC acquiring the full rights to all of Fawcett Comics characters in 1991, these characters are now official DC heroes.

Why Batman Wasn’t The First DC Movie Release

DC Took Time To Adapt To The Silver Screen

At this early stage, theater was still a gamble. People did not attend feature-length shows the way they do now, but instead, movies were broken down into bite-sized chapters. These chapters would be released weekly, and keep the audience coming back to see what happened next time, and with the success of The Adventures of Captain Marvel, and Spy Smasher, DC saw an opportunity and took it. However, there was another reason for their hesitation. Batman was not anywhere close to as popular or universal a character as he is today.

Interestingly, Batman not being the first DC property to have a movie is a part of history that is repeating itself in the DCU, with several movies slated to release before Batman’s DCU debut.

By all means, DC had a foot in the door and the comics sold well, but this new medium was a decisive step forward, and one that would allow their brand to grow beyond the regular comic book fans. And as time wore on, and the mediums improved, Batman continued to prove an incredibly popular and resilient character who remained popular over the decades with increasingly more appearances, a regular TV show, and more movies down the line. Today, it’s easy to forget that these characters have not been around forever. But the truth is, Batman was not the definitive superhero. He was popular, and his popularity increased over time, but imaginative and creative writers and artists have always been creating new and exciting characters.

I’m Oddly Glad Batman Wasn’t The First Ever DC Movie

There Was More Time To Learn & Grow

The truth is it takes time for these characters to take root, and become household names. Batman may be one of the top-performing heroes today, and the character has inspired dozens of spin-offs, but it didn’t start like that. It took time and effort invested in redesigning and expanding the hero to become something more. And now, thanks to Batman’s steady growth, it’s great to look back at the history and see how other heroes held the spotlight temporarily.

Batman has one of the most iconic origin stories of all time, which has been depicted in many movies and tv series to different degrees of success.

Things change, and the popularity of characters fluctuates, which has been seen in the way the MCU had a meteoric rise, before the Multiverse Saga has put the entire franchise into a freefall with random hits and misses. If these characters were just created and then became global sensations overnight, it would feel as earned, and seeing how Batman’s popularity helped take DC from the studio that didn’t get the first movie out before a smaller brand like Fawcett, only to overtake them and eventually buy them out, is a cool part of the history of these characters and brands.

    Upcoming DC Movie Releases

I Can’t Believe 2 DC Movies Beat Batman To Being The Franchise’s First Superhero Films

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s… not Batman? That’s right, two DC movies have beaten the Dark Knight to the punch when it comes to being the franchise’s first superhero films. While Batman may be one of the most iconic superheroes of all time, he wasn’t the first to grace the big screen in the DC universe.

The first DC superhero film to hit theaters was actually “Superman” in 1978, directed by Richard Donner and starring Christopher Reeve as the Man of Steel. This groundbreaking film set the stage for the superhero genre in Hollywood and paved the way for many more to come.

Following in Superman’s footsteps, “Wonder Woman” made her big screen debut in 2017, directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot as the Amazonian princess. This film was a critical and commercial success, further solidifying the DC Extended Universe as a force to be reckoned with in the superhero genre.

While Batman may be the most popular and beloved superhero in the DC universe, it’s interesting to note that he wasn’t the first to get his own solo film. However, with the upcoming release of “The Batman” starring Robert Pattinson, it looks like the Caped Crusader will finally get his chance to shine as the franchise’s leading superhero once again.

So, while it may be surprising that two DC movies beat Batman to being the franchise’s first superhero films, it’s clear that the DC universe is full of diverse and iconic characters that have captivated audiences for decades. And with more superhero films on the horizon, there’s no telling what other surprises may be in store for fans of the genre.
